Appearing on Wednesday’s results show: David Cook sings his single “Come Back to Me” in a pre-taped segment, and Lady Gaga performs “Poker Face.”

The contestants can choose any song they want, as long as it’s a popular download.   That’s a theme?   The kids visit Uncle Ryan at work!

(OK, the order is not the same as the spoilers…)

  • The kids visit Ryan’s studio – VIDEO -
  • Anoop Desai – “Caught Up” by Usher – VIDEOiTunes
  • Megan Joy - “Turn Your Lights Down Low” by Lauren Hill/Bob Marley – VIDEOiTunes

Anoop Desai – “Caught Up” by Usher – I am digging the hair. He’s rockin’ the Michael Jackson jacket. He’s working the stage pretty well. Some pitchy things here and there, and I’m not digging some of the riffing, but overall a decent vocal.   Randy says, “You’ve picked up your swagger…not the right song for you…the vocals were good.”   Kara thinks he played it safe.   She called it a frat guy performance. Paula says, “Work on your stage presence.”   Simon says, “It was a complete and utter mess…you came over as a wanna be…it gave me a headache.”   Anoop disagrees with Kara and that he’s trying to define himself as an R&B artist. Not Anoop’s best, it wasn’t super-original, but Kara and Simon are baked.   It wasn’t terrible. 1-866-436-5701

Megan Joy Corkrey – “Turn Your Light’s Down Low” by Lauren Hill – She thinks the judges are going to feel her this time! Eh. I still think this is kind of a mess. Her lack of musicality kills her everytime.   This is better than last week, though. She looks beautiful, as always. Kara says, “I really like you, but I think you’re in trouble. Bob Marley is not the song choice for you.” She thought Adele would be better. Kara is shouting at the booing audience. Paula says, “At this stage, you need to take us by surprise.”   Simon is still bugging Paula. Paula suggests she sits on a stool and sing a sensitive ballad. Simon says, “The song was boring, indulgent, montonounous…All the things we liked about you are disappearing.” Randy says, “Because you love a song, doesn’t mean you sing it great.” Wow they are slamming her.   Megan says she likes her song.   “You’ve been saying that every week,” says Simon. 1-866-436-5702

Danny Gokey – “What Hurts the Most” by Rascal Flatts – Danny get’s a sit down with Ryan.   Danny loves Rascal Flatts. Danny says the song he got last week was “like 5th on my list”.   Danny says he wants to tone it down this week, and sing his heart out. Wow. I don’t know if his voice is shot or what, but he’s really forcing it on the higher notes and it doesn’t sound good.   He’s pouring a lot of emotion into it, I’ll give him that.   “This is where you thrive…you leave me wanting more,” says Paula.   Simon says, “This week, I thought it was your best performance…it was so much better than the first two.”   Randy says, “Tonight’s show starts right here…very nice, baby, very nice.” Kara said, “You moved everyone in this room emotionally…you really connect with the audience.” Maybe it sounded better in studio? 1-866-436-5703

Allison Iraheta – “Donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t Speak” by No Doubt – Allison is going to play guitar tonight.   She’s rocking the crazy pink hair tonight! OMG she sounds incredible.   I am loving this. Every choice she makes is right on–she knows how to phrase a song.   Great finish.   Best of the night so far. Randy says, “You were a little ahead of the beat…what is with this outfit.”   Uh, the singing Randy? WTF? Kara says, “You don’t need to dress the part…it felt forced, a good performance…not your best.”    Paula is glad she brought her “axe”out with her.   She likes her intonation and delivery. I agree with Paula!   Simon begins babbling about the outfit.   Geez, who gives a f**k about her outfit!   Talk about her singing!   Simon says she shouted the song.   Wow, I guess I’m living in some alternative universe.   Her outfit was not that weird, and I thought she sounded great.   1-866-436-5704

Scott MacIntyre – “Just The Way You Are” by Billy Joel – Gah. What a boring song choice. No band tonight, just piano. He’s less bland without the band backing him. This is one of his best performances, although he’s still pitchy and overreaches his range in spots. Definitely his best so far.   Kara says, “I think you made some very smart decisions tonight…moving, coming from an honest place.” Paula says, “I’m most proud of you…it has everthing to do that makes me forget about that challenge.” But then…it’s still the challenge, isn’t it? Simon says, “You’re best performance by a country mile…it’s a different Scott.” Simon notes his “Ryan Seacrest hair”, and is glad he didn’t take Paula’s advice not to play the piano.   Randy says, “One of the best.”   Scott has bought himself another week, or maybe two. 1-866-436-5705

Matt Giraud – “You Found Me” by the Fray – Matt gets the Ryan treatment. He loves the Fray, and he’s going to sing a current song. He’s not sitting on the stage, but out in the audience surrounded by the pit girls. Hm. Off the bat, this is sounding off key. He’s not bringing anything new to this very current song, and he still sounds nervous. It’s affecting his pitch and vibrato. Paula says, “You aborted the thing we love about you…it became a sound alike.” Then she compares it to the Coldplay song. EEP. Simon, “We don’t like you this week…it felt very put on, very uptight, not a good commercial song…you’re becoming all these different people…I didn’t get it.” Wow, he’s getting slammed. “It was the wrong song for you…Apologize would have been you.” Kara says, “You keep going between rock and pop…you are going to hae to commit…you are a talented guy, you don’t deserve to go home.” Matt insists that R&B isn’t the only thing he can do. Stay in your box Matt! 1-866-436-5706

Lil Rounds – “Surrender” by Celine Dion – Lil thought a lot about it, then picked Celine Dion. She’s going for her “moment” tonight. Lil, why are you screaming at me? This is kind of a pitchy mess. She’s coming off a little desperate. Randy says, “This would not have been my song choice…you sang it really really well…but young it up a little.” Kara says, “I was surprised…when you go up there it’s effortless…we got a glimpse of who we saw in the beginning. We need to see more of that.” Paula says, “I don’t want to see an AC Lil Rounds…I know that’s there.” Simon says, “I found it quite similar to a wedding performance…”One” by U2 that MJ Blige sang would have been a good choice…your personality is getting sucked out of you.” Ryan, stop badgering Lil’s kids. Lil is crying, and now that the kids are in the picture, that’s like, a zillion more votes for Lil. 1-866-436-5707

Adam Lambert – “Play That Funky Music” by Wild Cherry – He sang a soft song last week…now he wants to pick up the pace, and make an old song sound current. This is a great vocal, but it doesn’t sound very current to me.   Adam is back to the heavy-metal high notes–the song sounds more 80′s hair band than current rock and roll. I don’t understand why he didn’t pick a new song. “True genius,” says Paula. She’s comparing him to Mick Jagger and other R&R greats. Simon says at least he’s not Karaoke…you are original. Gah. this is the kind of performance Simon typically slams. “You are definitely in the star zone,” says Randy. Kara says, “Every week, I can’t wait to get to the show and see what you’re going to do.” Then she mentions studio…57? Isn’t that 54? But at least Kara can count this week. 1-866-436-5708

Kris Allen – “Ain’t Know Sunshine” – Kris likes taking old songs and making them new… He’s playing piano tonight. He’s got a couple of string players on stage with him. Hell yeah, this is pretty awesome. And it sounds current.   I’m hearing this on AAA radio. Kris’s transformation over the course of this competition has been unbelievable. He is the diamond in the rought. Randy says, “You are definitely in the zone tonight.”   Kara can count tonight, “That is artistry.”   Paula says, “That could be the first cut from your album.”   Simon says, “You showed some confidence tonight…great arrangement…Your best performance so far.” 1-866-436-5709

  • Valentin432

This is going to be a strange show if the spoilers are correct.

  • Victoria

Phew, the site’s back up. I couldn’t get on for the last 15 minutes.

Randy must be taking fashion tips from Danny. Not loving the red glasses.

    Paula’s dress is WOW… bright.

    And Allison’s is YIKES. :blink_tb:

  • Valentin432

    What is Allison wearing???

Lol Anoop going first, I already see AnoopFan screaming at the producers.

  • mitchellvii

I have no idea. I think they are trying to make Alliso look like a giant cranberry.

  • Victoria

    Ughhhh. Not loving Anoop.

This sounds weird, but he needs to stop trying to be cool. :laugh_tb:

  • weelassie

What in the world does allison have on and where is the squirrel that got in her hair?

  • mitchellvii

Sorry, but Annops sucks on this song. he is way off key and is trying to be cooler than he is. Simon is going to slay him for this.

  • background_noise

No way Adam is leaving that jacket on. He’s got blue spandex or something under it! Sneaky!

Allison looks like she’s wearing a burgundy barrel.

  • mitchellvii

    Ugh, this is painful.

  • daydreamingfan

I don’t know if anyone else will agree but I thought Chekezie tore this song up on tour last year. Anoop is no where close to what he did… Sadly. I like Anoop.

  • soccerboi

Eh Anoop…just don’t really get him. He’s no Usher

  • lizland

I didn’t like Anoop. And he came off as pretty arrogant tonight, again.

  • lizland

Megan simply can’t sing. That was nails on the blackboard.

  • soccerboi

Oh Megan…geez she is so awkward its almost funny…sad I like her just not her singing so much

  • Victoria

Kara just said artistry is taking a song and making it your own… and now she wants Megan to copycat Adele? :blink_tb:

Simon, how was that indulgent? I think he just throws that out there. He might want to invest in a thesaurus (and maybe let Randy borrow it).

  • mitchellvii

Megan will be the Kellie Pickler of this season. She will sound great in the studio with the pitchiness mixed out. Surprisingly, her voice has gotten worse each week, not better.

IMHO, both Anoop and Megan sucked hard core. Anoop was worse.

  • Valentin432

Two trainwrecks in a row, wahou!!!!
If it’s the same as season 5, the third will also be disastrous.

  • mitchellvii

The worst part about Anoop was he was trying to look “sexy”. He ain’t. He is cute, but not sexy. Nope, major fail.

Lol, I like Megan cause she is so sweet and just a little weird – caw caw!

  • Skylark

I would love to hear Megan sing Adelle and then the judges have to tell her “never mind” haha

  • s0x_prisoner

Huh, i actually thought Anoop was pretty good…

YAY for Matt singing You Found Me! I hope he owns that song.

And I’m really glad this site is back up!

  • Victoria

Is it just me, or do the contestants not seem as polite this year?

  • soccerboi

    Lol..caw caw

  • mitchellvii

Of course Matt gets the pimp spot after his close call last week. I bet Anoop was pissed he went first.

  • mitchellvii

Lol, Allison looks like she is wearing a purple barrel.

  • Valentin432

Is it just me, or do the contestants not seem as polite this year?

Anoop had really a bad moment, people like him because he is nice and he looked arrogant, Megan has always talked even tough she sucked.

Only positive thing is that Allison is probably safe whatever she does this week.

  • rayni

I hate the snotty talk back tudes. And I’ve hated both performances so far – they weren’t good enough to talk back like that. Hush, children. Take it like the last 7 seasons did. Except for Scott Savol.

  • nad

I actually thought Anoop was good….

and you know i dont blame him for talking back a bit because they keep on changing their mind on him…slow it down now pick it up…now work on stage presence…..

the judges themselves are becoming indulgent…

  • gingerly

Funniest thing is the judges put Megan and Anoop right where they are. Makes me chortle.

  • yf7184

WTF? Matt is in the pimp spot again?

  • hypertwink

    What did Megan sing?

  • kiwifan

I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t like Anoop. And he came off as pretty arrogant tonight, again

I love Anoop, but I know what you mean. Showmanship doesn’t equally snarling. Seemed almost angry through the whole song. *sigh*

But I still love him and want him to get another chance next week “double crosses fingers”

  • mitchellvii

Last week, Adam looked like Elvis, this week he looks like John Travolta – lol, you gotta love the way he changes things up.

  • Hannah Palindrome

My Pet Peeve! I hate when they talk back to the judges. I hate when they think they know more about music.
    Why can’t they take criticism!!!
Megan knows her “fans” will vote for her? FANS???

  • cookcricket

I have to say I’m not familiar enough with Usher to say how Anoop did…so I didn’t think it was too bad. However, everything Chikeze sang on tour last yr. was awesome, and that was no Chikeze, I feel sad for Anoop.

  • Lyre

Anoop gave us an amateur performance. Plus, he came off really cocky and smug when the judges were critiquing him. Ugh, that was a horrible performance — I hope he gets the boot soon.

    Megan was just boring…

I didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t like Anoop. And he came off as pretty arrogant tonight, again.

Yeah, I thought so, too. :thumbdown_tb:

  • Hannah Palindrome

    DANNY…BARF

  • lizland

I think the judges have finally gotten real with both Anoop and Megan. But boy they really ripped Megan a new one. Brutal.

  • mitchellvii

Gokey looks better tonight than usual.

  • Victoria

    ^ Yup

I wish they would stop using “Well, [insert song here] wasn’t my first pick.” Guess what? It happens to people every year. It’s nothing new, and it’s not an excuse.

Danny is rushing through it at parts. He needs sloooooow down.

  • aly

    Megan and Anoop UGH.
    Both trainwrecks with bad attitudes.

  • lizland

I can’t believe they are letting Danny explain that he got stuck with a song for his performance last week. Have they ever done that before? That was strange.

  • Victoria

Who wants to bet this will be considered a “moment” even though he’s yelling through it? Just because of his emotion and the meaning of the song for him.

  • mitchellvii

I wish Gokey had said, “Well, I rocked it and Simon is an idiot!”

  • background_noise

Megans Fans = Vote for the Worst. They love her.

  • chicksineggz

    Anooooop ):
He needs to stop trying to please people. He needs to stop trying so hard. He needs to relax.

    Love the clefs :D

  • manny

Danny sounds pretty good tonight, just didn’t do anything special with
    the song.

  • soccerboi

Danny is straining too much…I dont really get his popularity either…someone please explain it to me

  • mitchellvii

Um, Danny. For me that was just boring. I guess I’m not feeling him so much. All the songs soud the same to me.

  • s0x_prisoner

    wow, Danny was great!

  • Skylark

Well, that’s a really popular song and he did a good job so well done, Danny.

  • Victoria

They are pimping him again. *rolls eyes*

  • mitchellvii

Simon is trying to make up for slamming Gokey last week. To much praise for that average effort.

  • lizland

that was Danny’s best performance to me. But he still has a smug smile afterwards.

ETA: and should danny be smiling like that while Simon says the prior two really sucked? I wouldn’t be too happy with him if I were them.

  • useless

    gokey ? *meh*

  • CathyMK

Sheesh, not much humility from the contestants so far, and from people who should have some.

  • ilovetohateai

whats with the uber-pimping?! danny makes me BARF just like.. hmm, nvm

  • ordinarygirl09

I just have to say, I totally lost all respect for Anoop tonight. I was rooting for him but now I am not.

He is WAY to cocky and he did sound horrible. terrible, actually. He did nothing to change the performance at all.

I thought it was totally disrespectful for him to talk to Kara like he did. The judges are there for a reason, anoop.

  • mitchellvii

Lol this pimpage is sick, espeically because I sense that they don;t mean it, they are just being nice cause his grandpa died.

  • sunchick

LOL, so the theme is….pick a song, any song, and then we’ll tell you what we’ve cleared for you to sing. Unless you’re Matt.

  • leome

I also agree that it was Danny’s best performance, probably the first one I like by the guy. That was great and coming after two wrecks it’s even better.

  • Valentin432

That’s some pretty heavy pimping right there…
They are defenitely trying to get him in the race again.

  • nad

ok that was a pitchy performance by danny….this is pimping by the judges to the nth degree..

  • http://www.dancin.ca dancin

ugh ugh ugh i’m tired of the overpimping

  • Victoria

    Has Allison’s hair gotten brighter?

  • aly

It was Danny’s best performance, but why must he act so
    entitled?

  • useless

whats with the uber-pimping?! danny makes me BARF just like.. hmm, nvm

    agree

  • rayni

Loved Danny’s song but the sound was weird. All right Allison, bring it.

  • downeast

    WTH. I mean WTH?????

Gokey didn’t hit a single note cleanly. NOT ONE. And yet he’s getting this BS tongue bath?

If I didn’t hate him before, I surely hate him now.

  • mitchellvii

I just occured to me, Allison looks like one of those little trill dolls I used to spin on my pencil when I was a kid.

  • angeleyes0712

Danny was AMAZING!!! Gave me the chills…He deserved every word of praise he got from the judges.

  • ordinarygirl09

I dont think they are being too hard on the contestants, it is the top 9. They need to step it up, this group has done nothing to prove that any of them deserve to be the next American Idol. No one has been amazing.

  • useless

she has a really nice voice

  • mitchellvii

Holy God, Allison is just a star. He phrasing is amazing. Incredible.

  • Victoria

I just occured to me, Allison looks like one of those little trill dolls I used to spin on my pencil when I was a kid.

    :laugh_tb:

She doesn’t seem as good as usual.

    The outfit, hair… YIKES.

Did she forget the words, or is “lalalalala” really in the song?

  • Skylark

Ah, Allison looks like a little troll doll … cute!
She is really nailing this song too.

  • Lisa

Nothing to say about the first two.

    Danny I do not get.

Allison, the first was nice. Hated the rest.

  • soundscene

I canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t believe they are letting Danny explain that he got stuck with a song for his performance last week. Have they ever done that before? That was strange.

No, they haven’t. There were some contestants that barely ever got their first choice songs, or second choice songs, or third choice songs… Some had good luck (I think Brooke last year said she never lost a hat pick), others had bad luck (David A. never won a hat pick). But none of that came out until after the show was done or the contestant got kicked off. And Scott this year already said that he has bad hat pick luck (that was unprompted, not edited in by TPTB).

It was Dannyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s best performance, but why must he act so
    entitled?

That’s not saying much, IMO, since I couldn’t stand any of the rest of his performances.

  • kiwifan

    Anooooop ):
He needs to stop trying to please people. He needs to stop trying so hard. He needs to relax.

ITA. Think he’s frustrated because he’s trying so hard to please them, whereas he should be true to himself (or honest as Usher he ain’t).

I also don’t really like the back chat and Anoop hasn’t done that before, but if you’re going to back chat any of them, then Kara’s a good one to do it too as most people can’t stand her, lol

  • Hannah Palindrome

I wish the idiots in the audience would STFU!

  • http://myspace.com/susanatfox sumidol

I never got The Anoop appeal so I am not surprised he didnt come off as sexy cuz he just aint. Adam is singing THAT – I hate hate hate that song – I hope he makes me like it, poor Megan – oh well. Of course Matt got the pimp, he is the judges new boy toy.

  • soccerboi

I really like Allison…my fave girl by far…not sayin much considering the other ones left

  • St.Lucia

So far this has been pretty one note….

    I’m bored.

With the choices they have they sure picked some terrible song choices.

  • Victoria

Wow, Paula. Straight off the teleprompter much?!

    Totally agree with Simon

  • Hoppy

I’m with the people who hate when contestants “talk back” too much. Even when the judges are talking out of their asses, I think it is best to just nod and smile and say “thanks”. Anything else makes you look like you think you know better than actual industry professionals.

And yes, sometimes the judges make absolutely no sense. But I still think contestants need to grin and bear it. It comes off as classier that way.

  • useless

her outfit sucks, but her voice is really good

  • downeast

Godamighty. Tonight might break it for me.

Between the weird over-Gokey pimpage and trashing on the sweet kid’s outfit…WHAT????

I think I hear AI jumping the shark tonight. Seriously.

  • useless

she deserves to be around next week

  • mitchellvii

Here’s the point, don’t the stylists decide what the contestants are going to wear? It’s like Simon bashing the band’s playing.

  • lizland

Allison got the bad camera and light treatment.

I thought the outfit was perfect for a Gwen Stefani song. She has some crazy clothes. Did anyone critique her singing, besides Simon who is always negative to Allison.

  • mitchellvii

Is it just me, or is Scott just creepy. he always has that same weird smile on his face.

  • mitchellvii

Allison looked like the kid that got turned into a giant blueberry on Willy Wonka.

  • Valentin432

I am fighting the urge to break my computer just to see Adam perform….

  • Victoria

    ^ ME TOO! :laugh_tb:

Hereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s the point, donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t the stylists decide what the contestants are going to wear? Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s like Simon bashing the bandà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s playing.

The stylists can guide them, but the contestants ultimately make the decision.

  • jz

I thought Allison did way better than the judges gave her credit for.
Okay, so her outfit WAS horrendous, but her singing was pretty damn good…

    Ah, screw the judges.

  • background_noise

Don’t understand this. They got a kid here who has the potential to be a superstar and they sit there criticizing her CLOTHES? This ain’t Project Runway. Makes me wanna scream!

  • Skylark

Doweast, they jumped the shark on “let’s torture Alexis” night, and we all have just decided to keep watching anyway!

  • jammasta

I just got in on Rickey.

I’m worried about Adam’s performance this week. He doesn’t really seem like a soulful enough guy to sing that song well. He’ll add his own spin to it. I’m just worried he’s gonna bring back OTT wailing and get an overpimped tongue bath from the judges and from the comments here. Allison looked strange, but cool at the same time. I didn’t see any performances yet. Anoop had a great song, but judging by the comments he didn’t deliver >_>.

  • downeast

Mitchell…I cut him loads of slack on the facial expression thing due to his vision problem. Actually, he looks remarkably sighted, considering.

I actually like the guy. Although I feel a total karaoke moment coming on.

    (cringing)

  • Victoria

Wow. Scott’s not doing too bad. And I think I hear a little emotion? Still not great, but better. Like his haircut.

  • mitchellvii

To me, the judges become less respectful every season. Simon always talks being “self-indulgent”?

    Et Tu Brut’e?

  • lizland

I love Billy Joel, but Scott manages to pick the most boring and my least favorite BJ song. Is someone pimping Scott with that hair? After pink pants last week. Next they’ll be drawing a crayon mustache on him.

  • St.Lucia

My god, Scott gets more boring each and every week.

    Seriously.

If someone paid me to go to his concert(because I wouldn’t go willingly) I’d bring a pillow.

  • mitchellvii

Id Scott weren’t blind, he never would have made top 36 – this is just bad.

  • jan

I like Allison – have voted for her every week – I like her style – I love the way she sings – and I love her young carefree attitude.

  • ShariG

I really liked Danny’s performance tonight. It was more from his heart than the last week. Not a big fan of Rascal Flats, but I liked this song. I was a little disappointed with Anoop and Megan was really just not good. I thought Allison was adorable in her Gwen Stefani wanna be outfit. Scott’s hair looks nice tonight.

  • Lisa

Someone please remind me why Scott is on here? Nice kid, but has he ever done a song without the sour notes riddled throughout? *sigh* Were are the David’s when ya need em.

  • Lyre

Lol at Kara arguing with the audience. :D

  • soccerboi

His hair does look better…his voice isnt any better tho

  • jammasta

I think tonight was Scott’s best performance, but I think he should try to step out of his comfort zone.

  • jnd1221

I have a bad feeling Adam is gonna get SLAMMED. So far, Allison is the only one I’ve liked.

  • mitchellvii

How the hell can they slam Allison and then praise Scott like that? The judges suck tonight.

  • leome

What was the point of the guitar? To make her look more rockstar?
I don’t think the outfit was that bad (the hair otoh), and making the comments all about it is just stupid.
She wasn’t great, though. Trying too hard. I like her, but didn’t like this performance much.

Scott is probably the second best so far, I guess that speaks for how bad the night is turning out to be

  • Victoria

Yay! No pink pants! :laugh_tb: He looks good.

I have a bad feeling Adam is gonna get SLAMMED.

    Me too. :glurps_tb:

  • St.Lucia

I loved Allison btw, I thought she did way better than what the judges obviously heard.

I thought GoGokey was terrible and they pretty much kiss the ground he walks on.

Judges and I are watching an entirely different show.

  • s0x_prisoner

    Haha, “Glee” looks really good!

  • Jx223

I actually donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think that Anoop was that bad vocally. He wasnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t really, really good, but he wasnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t bad either, IMO. The performance was overdone, but he was trying to bring the high energy back like the judges wanted and it just didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t pan out for him, performance wise.

I really liked the way that his hair looked tonight and I kind of liked the way that he was dressed. This is these best he has looked on the Idol Stage IMO. I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think that he should have talked to the judges like that, I think that is going to make him look bad to a lot of people; and wonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t win him supporters, especially casual voters.

I love Anoop, heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s my favorite this year, but I have to say he might have cost himself the title. He might not go home this week, but I think that his chances of winning now have gone down a lot.

Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a good singer, but he hasnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t been that consistant and there are other people that are outperforming him, who have worse voices than he does, and at least one that has a better voice than he does. Plus the judges already have at least six contestants that they like more than him. And if Megan and Scott should go in the next two weeks, his head will be the next on the chopping block.

Aw, darn. I really do care about him and out of all of the contestants I connect to him the most, but I think that he might end up leaving the competition relatively early.

I think that Anoop could be in the bottom three tomorrow night, but if he is, I just hope that Megan ends up going instead.

  • mitchellvii

OMG, these guys must have heard a different performance than the shrieking pitchfest I just heard. one of the best of the night? Good lord, i may hurl.

  • jpgrief

Downeast, I’m with you. After tonight I’m done with this f#$&ing show. The obvious pimping and inconsistent judges’ remarks are making me ill. Anoop may not have had the best vocal tonight, but he did exactly what the judges wanted him to do and he got blasted for it. I’m going to vote tonight for Anoop (but I really wonder if our votes count anymore….) and that’s it for me.

  • ziggy

I thought my girl Allison sounded great, ‘

I liked hearing her soft side

Simon could only talk about her clothes????

    Geez, the girl can SING!!!!!!

  • anijsch

I think this week could be good for Allison. Her problem the last weeks was that everybody think she was good, but nothing to speak about. Today that will be different.

  • ShariG

I think people can say what they want about Scott and whether or not he should be there or whether or not they think his disability has given him an advantage, but I really hope he isn’t voted off tonight. He sounded really good and is just so much better than Megan. Tonight I thought he was better than Anoop, tonight, too, and I like Anoop.

  • OldHag

I am worried for Anoop. It would just suck if he goes and Megan stays.

  • gingerly

Well, I truly don’t like Danny. He’s so freaking entitled that I really want him to go home now. I didn’t think this was Allison’s best performance by far but she was pretty respectful to the judges. I did think this was Scott’s best performance and figure he can go home now with head held high. I just think he’s a much better pianist than singer.

  • Hannah Palindrome

“I never got The Anoop appeal so I am not surprised he didnt come off as sexy cuz he just aint…”

It was never about his “sexy” appeal. I really liked his voice from his audition.
Anoop & Matt were my two favorites from the beginning.
    Anoop is losing my interest.

  • CathyMK

So, I guess this is one of those nights when the judges’ opinions have absolutely nothing to do with the performances. Clearly, they were told to pimp Scott and Danny, and criticize Allison. I get that they may be unhappy about Allison overtaking Danny in the votes, but Scott? Do we really need him to hang around a few extra weeks, especially if they’re sending Anoop home instead?

  • kiwifan

Yikes, I thought Allison was awful. Definitely not the right song for her.

As for Scott, seriously, he is lost in the 70′s

  • chicksineggz

    Wow. Scott was.. good.
    Damnit.

I wish Ryan would stop asking the contestants certain questions. Anoop was actually not responding to Kara, but then Ryan had to ask him.

  • mitchellvii

If they slam Adam, it will be on song choice and rightly so. If the idea tonigh was to pick a song that is to represent what you woluld do as an artist, then why that song?

    We’ll see.

So far, tonight, the only good performance was Allison and they slamed her.

  • St.Lucia

I have a bad feeling Adam is gonna get SLAMMED.

I don’t even feel it. I just know it. You can’t do “Play that funky music” and not get a WTF from Simon. Paula will love it but she will be the only one.

  • downeast

I haven’t watched many seasons of this (well, this is really only the second after the Great Melinda Doolittle Screwathon of 2007)…are there often nights when everyone just seems to pretty much suck and the judges have collectively lost their minds?

Because they ain’t hearing what I’m hearing, that’s for sure. :confused_wp:

And I love me some Adam, but if he goes too flamboi on this one…one worries.

  • Tracy

Allison’s been the best one so far.

I’m pretty “meh” on the night overall, actually.

  • jz

I am deathly scared for Adam.

    DEATHLY SCARED MAN.
That song has KISSOFDEATHDEATHDEATH written all over it.

Prove me wrong Adam! Prove me wrong!

  • Dr. Tracey

WTF is up with the judges tonight? Are they even listening? This is a joke!
    What a bunch of A**hats.

  • nad

“Downeast, Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m with you. After tonight Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m done with this f#$&ing show. The obvious pimping and inconsistent judgesà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ remarks are making me ill. Anoop may not have had the best vocal tonight, but he did exactly what the judges wanted him to do and he got blasted for it. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m going to vote tonight for Anoop (but I really wonder if our votes count anymoreà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦.) and thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s it for me.”

    THANK YOU!!!

Danny does the same damn thing every week and he gets pimped like hell….

And usually I am not for back talk to the judges but think about what the kid has been through with the judges..

Anoop do not listen to the judges…and normally I love Simon

  • cookcricket

I thought I was going to be yawning at Scott, but he was great. I do love that song!

Looks like Matt isn’t going last after all…which will it be Kris or Adam?

Danny got too much praise from the judges imo, but the audience seemed to love it!

  • Skylark

I honestly never understood who would Vote For The Worst but I am getting such a kick out of Megan’s wacky choices and off-kilter performances that I kinda hate to see her leave.

  • Victoria

I can’t stand this song. YUCK. Matt is not making me like it anymore. It sounds like he’s trying to copy the Fray, and he’s losing the soul in his voice.

  • mitchellvii

I agree with the owner of this blog. So far, Allison was amazing and everyone else sucked. The judges are definitely in alternate universe land.

  • Valentin432

I already hear Simon on Adam: “That was the most self indulgent bull**** I have ever heard”

  • ShariG

Oh my goodness, Matt isn’t sounding good tonight to me. Maybe it will get better.

  • downeast

Wow. Matt is starting out tres, tres pitchy. Let the tongue bath begin.

  • Jx223

I am worried for Anoop. It would just suck if he goes and Megan stays.

I am worried about him too. I think that he is definitelly in trouble especially since the judges praised Scott. I just hope that his fanbase vote enough to carry him to safety over Megan.

It didn’t help things that it looked he was pretty angry with the judges, and I think that a lot of people are going to think that the way that he responded to the judges tonight was arrogant and smug. If he had not spoken to the judges in the manner that he did, he would have a better shot of staying around IMO.

  • mitchellvii

Wow, Matt Giraud BLOOWS CHUNKS tonight. How can his voice sound so good one week and so bad the next? Ugh, horrible.

  • Hannah Palindrome

    Matt-I’m not feeling this song…sniffle

  • madmike2276

WTF…the judges barely comment on Allison’s singing, yet think Scott did well.
Scott put on a snoozefest performance yet again.

The judges should not be allowed to watch their rehearsals, and should watch the final product, because I don’t know what they heck they were thinking.

  • jammasta

I think Matt chose a weird song for himself… I think he’s more suited to the R&B songs he’s been doing for the past few weeks….. His rockish voice is really raspy. Not a bad performance, though.

It was not as bad as his Coldplay performance by a long shot, but still, it wasn’t him at all.

  • ziggy

Allison is 16 years old, but she is a old soul, she reminds me of Janis Joplin. Alot.

  • soccerboi

I think its too soon to do this song…poor Matt…hes so nercvous

  • mitchellvii

    God that was horrific.

  • dulce

Scott’s gone. All we need is one outstanding performance (insert Adam Lambert here) and Scott’s gone. He’s been stinking it up badly for weeks, and now…he’s OK. And that’s when people get the boot…when they are OK…never when they are terrible. Terrible = crazy votes from fanbase. That’s why Anoop will be fine. That’s why Megan will probably be fine too.

BTW, I didn’t think Anoop was that bad. He actually sounds good on the song. As for Gokey…he sounded good too. I don’t get cocky vibes from either. People got tons of “cocky” vibes from Cook last year and turns out the guy is anything but. I just think it’s hard to judge people’s character from 30 seconds on TV. I don’t like talking back, but after being raked over the coals over and over, it’s got to get old.

TO ANOOP: STOP LISTENING TO THE JUDGES. Do your own thing. You’re not going to win this. That’s OK. Everyone loses but one person. Just have fun. If you have fun, people watching will have fun too.

Only Gokey, Lambert have a chance at this. Everyone else should just do whatever they want to do.

  • Victoria

Why is the piano in the mosh pit? :blink_tb:

  • leome

I think Matt should win the award for most pimped contestant. For real.
He had some pitchy parts, bad falsetto again, and the runs again. But so not feeling it.

  • background_noise

I have a bad feeling Adam is gonna get SLAMMED.

Me three (or 4 or 5?)

Why did he pick that song? Why did he pick a Taylor Hicks song? I’m sick to my stomach already. Please no comparisons to Taylor, please. Simon is going to hate it.

  • Heart

No way Adam is leaving that jacket on. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s got blue spandex or something under it! Sneaky!

Are you SURE he had spandex on underneath???!!! I don’t think Middle America is ready for a Zodiac Show outfit!

  • St.Lucia

If Adam had already performed I’d turn this assbackwards show off.

Since I’m apparently watching something entirely different tonight than the rest of the judges

  • soccerboi

It did sound like a sound a like…Im sad..I like Matt

  • gingerly

So Matt totally sucked, hard. That was painful I think. Could it be that he goes home before Scott or Megan?

  • mitchellvii

Matt’s problem is when he pushes and tries to go big, his voice goes off pitch and gets their weird vibrato to it. Major fail – wow, too bad.

  • kiwifan

Scott should have been slammed for his song choice. In no way is that current or something that would sell in the market today. According to the judging tonight, Anoop would have been better staying in his “safe” ballad zone rather than stepping out.

Kris will be exactly the same “Aint No Sunshine” ….will sound great, but yawn.

  • houstonrufus

Given how much these contestants could have proven themselves with current material this week, I’m really disappointed.

    Wow.

  • s0x_prisoner

Huh. I’ve really been disagreeing with the judges this week…

  • lizland

I liked Matt tonight. I thought he had the best song choice so far. A little pitchy maybe, but at least it was current. I liked it better than the judges.

  • soundscene

I’m sure Adam is hoping for the, “that was so weird that it was brilliant!” comment. He may get it–if he does I’m sure I’ll have hated the performance. I don’t want weird, I want something I can listen to without getting creeper vibes. On the other hand, if he gets bad comments it means that I probably will have enjoyed the performance.

  • ShariG

I agree with Simon here. Matt was not on pitch in parts. His voice waivered too much. I just don’t get this one. I think he has lost his confidence a little bit and it is too bad because he is one I really like.

  • laura11383

I guess I just don’t get the hate for Gokey, but of course, everyone has their own opinion. I personally thought he sounded great.

Poor Matt. I like him, but didn’t like that song. I think he’s talented and others should leave before him; hopefully he’ll get a big swing from his fan base after the bottom 3 scare last week.

  • St.Lucia

Oh Matt, and I like you. That wasn’t good. He could be soo great. SO GREAT. I think he’s just lost. The Idol stage has swallowed him.

  • Victoria

Are you SURE he had spandex on underneath???!!! I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think Middle America is ready for a Zodiac Show outfit!

    Lol, so true.

Wow, for once I actually agree with the judges for the most part.

  • jammasta

I actually agree that he should’ve done Apologize over whatever song he just sang. More R&B-ish songs Matt plz

  • mitchellvii

Other than Allison, tonight is a trainwreck.

  • madmike2276

downeast, I agree. After Melinda was screwed over the show has never been the same. Each season it either seems worse than the one before, or perhaps I no longer see the innocence in the show and no longer believe for an instant that TPTB do everything short of actually rigging the results.

  • CathyMK

You Found Me is “not a good commercial song” according to Simon???? Is he even in the music business? That song shot up the charts. I didn’t particularly like the performance, but these judges’ comments are nuts tonight.

  • mitchellvii

Ok, get ready for the ‘Lil pimpage. I am nauseous already.

  • houstonrufus

Danny and Allison have been the best so far, but they could have been better.

  • undercooked

I’m on the west coast so I can’t see the show yet, but from this blog it sounds like it’s hitting the fan in the idol dome.

I think Adam could be great tonight IF he updates the song. It is a great melody and he has the range to do it. But it sounds to me like the judges are cranky tonight and no one except Danny is going to walk away without getting slammed. Maybe Simon got in trouble last week for coloring on Paula and he is in a bad mood?

  • phildog716

Adam, for the love of God, rescue this night. Reward me for my patience and tolerance.

  • Victoria

Lil “carefully” considered song choice and chose “I Surrender”? What?

    STOP YELLING AT ME, LIL.

I don’t get the love for her. This is kinda Broadway-ish… but like a cheap Broadway knockoff.

  • cookcricket

Um, was it me, or was Matt not as bad as the judges just said? Thank you Kara for saying Matt should not go home.

  • tinawina

Matt SHOULDN’T go anywhere. His fanbase is plenty motivated now, that’s for sure.

  • Valentin432

Lil is going for big diva song, the judges are going to love it.

  • mitchellvii

    I like ‘Lil’s hair.

  • tinawina

Bad wig on Lil. And she’s sharp! That glory note was way off.

  • Skylark

Kelly Clarkson sang this S1. Nuff said.

  • mitchellvii

This girl’s voice just does NOTHING for me – I flat out don’t get the love. Wow, this is horrible. Majorly flat on the big notes.

  • lizland

gah – is this Celine? Points off just for that, as I hate overwrought songs. Lil sounds very sharp to me. I actually flinched.

  • Niall

What the hell is up with them trying to torpedo Allison tonight? She did exactly the type of song she should be doing and sang it well but they talk about her OUTFIT?!

  • mitchellvii

Oh God, please make her stop!

  • dulce

Gross. I get to hear Celine Dion AGAIN. Die die die.

  • St.Lucia

Are you SURE he had spandex on underneath???!!! I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think Middle America is ready for a Zodiac Show outfit!

I’d freaking LOVE IT. Put on a show Adam! PUT ON A SHOW. Right now this evening is going to hell in a handbasket, so as far as I’m concerned, a little wardrobe change would do it some good!

  • background_noise

Oh, man, is it me or is Lil off? I mean way off. She’s no Jennifer Hudson.

  • downeast

    Lil. Lil. Got pitch?

Clearly the judges are all drunk tonight.

  • ShariG

I really don’t think we have to worry about Adam. He is going to surprise us with this song choice and I for one can’t wait to hear it.

  • wordnerdarchie

Oh! My ears, Oh! My ears.

    Pitchy!Pitchy! Pitchy!

    Lil was BAD!!!!

  • Victoria

RANDY. She was not good, and she does not have “unbelievable vocal skills.”

And Kara, NO MARIAH. And it’s not effortless.

    ?????????

  • mitchellvii

She sang it well? Holy God! NOOOO! That was a horrendous pitchfest. rediculous.

THIS WOMAN CAN NOT SING ON PITCH. Man, this is making me mad.

  • OldHag

I think that Lil’s best preformance but I still don’t like her much. Maybe I am just not into the whole Diva thing.

  • Jx223

IMHO, Anoop was better vocally than Matt was and Scott. I do agree that tonight was Scott’s best performance, but IMO, it still wasn’t vocally that good. But he got praise from the judges, and I can see the judges voting to keep him around for a while longer.

I like Matt and respect what he was trying to do but I think that songs like The Fray and Coldplay aren’t suited for his voice. He is better doing soul and R&B.

I think that we could end up with a Megan/Anoop/Matt bottom three tomorrow.

  • leome

Lil hurt my ears and that was so old. Why can’t she pick better songs?

  • Valentin432

Come on judges stop pimpimg this poor singer, she is terrible, that’s 3 in a row and they are still covering her……
    I am mad, mad, mad///

  • sanrio76

I can’t help but compare to Kelly Clarkson and Lil’s not as good.

  • tinawina

Maybe it sounds different in the studio! She hit some bad notes.

  • dulce

OH GOD. Paula’s passing the crazy pills around again. Damn…

  • ShariG

Dulce, I agree with you. I don’t get cocky vibes from either Danny or Anoop and like them both. I also loved David Cook, still do, and never saw him as arrogant in the least. Aww. Here are Lil’s little girls. They are adorable. They both look just like her.

  • Victoria

Lil hurt my ears and that was so old. Why canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t she pick better songs?

I don’t think there is a good song choice for her. She’s just not good.

Oh, they’re bringin’ out the kids. I guess Lil is sticking around for sure, huh?

  • jammasta

I kinda agree with Simon, she could’ve done something like a Mary J. Blige cover, but it really wasn’t that bad.

    Cute kid, she’s staying

  • mitchellvii

I just threw up on my computer.

  • wordnerdarchie

Oh, no! Not the kids! Pull the heartstring much?

  • Grammie Kari

    Simon says, à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“It was a complete and utter messà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦you came over as a wanna beà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦it gave me a headache.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

Simon, you give me a headache. I liked Anoop’s performance very much! He did something different and I found some of the criticism out of line. Do they really want Anoop on the Bottom 3?

Loved seeing Lil’s babes there. So sweet. However, Anthony’s performance is ingrained in my mind so deeply that Lil just wasn’t there quite as she should have been.

Adam is terrific! I love his look and great delivery! WOW!

Watching DWTS at the same time!

  • jnd1221

Adam is my hero. He just makes me smile.

  • soccerboi

Finally someone who performs every time out…GO Adam…give him the Idol Crown please

  • Victoria

    I didn’t like Adam’s dance moves, but I liked him. :laugh_tb:

Still, I don’t think it was his best. That’s the first time he’s just been okay for me.

  • rayni

    Welcome to the Adam Show.

No matter what he does, we can’t wait.

    Stick a fork in it.

  • Jx223

I love Adam, and I am glad to see that at least one of my favorites was able to do well tonight.

  • tinawina

I don’t know what to think abut what Adam just did. But he sure is the most entertaining thing about this season.

  • phildog716

am I the only person who is having issues with this site tonight? wth?

  • kiwifan

Other than Allison, tonight is a trainwreck.

Lol, with that hair and sound alike version, I thought Allison was a trainwreck tonight.

  • manny

    Voting lines are open already

  • mitchellvii

    Holy God.

Adam is in a whole different galaxy than these other pretenders. THAT gave me chills. I was very afraid when I heard he was singin this but he rocked it.

Damn. Simon said people wouldn’t like it as much as last week, but I loved it.

    Adam FTW baby.

  • Valentin432

Adam, I really don’t have word, the guy has been build to win this show.

  • background_noise

**huge sigh of relief** Adam, how could I have doubted you?

And, thank jeebus, NO Taylor Hicks comparison!

  • ShariG

Adam was great! I love him with the hair combed back like that. I am worrying now about my boy Kris who has to follow that. LOL I hope he does well.

  • yeahyeahsure

Why does Paula always look like she’s reciting a memorized review?!

  • Tracy

I really liked Adam last week, but tonight I’m back to wanting shove a sharp object in my ears. :\

  • downeast

Adam, darling…so pretty tonight. Loving the look, although I miss rocker guy.

I know that you’re channeling seventies funk dance moves, but most of these kiddies don’t remember that, so they looked a tad dorky.

But still…no one can ever accuse you of going safe OR not being able to SANG.

    Loving you!

  • houstonrufus

I don’t think Adam won any new fans tonight. He sounded good, I guess. But how was that current? Course, not much tonight has sounded current except for Matt and Allison. I don’t know. I wonder what was available for Adam to choose, because I would have really loved to hear him sing something more recent. Kind of feel like he missed a really good opportunity.

  • ShariG

I keep losing the site, too and then can’t get it back.

  • Victoria

am I the only person who is having issues with this site tonight?

    I am too.

    Voting lines are open already

    Really? Weird.

  • soundscene

That may have been like Studio 57, Kara, but it wasn’t like Studio 54.

  • jammasta

Oh dear freaking God. Adam wailed again. But guess what? This time his wailing was freaking awesome. I hated the arrangement at the beginning (and there were some very awkward pauses), but once chorus came, it was like…. “BAM BAM WHO’S YOUR DADDY NOW?!?!” I have to give it to him for that one. And I like the hair, he doesn’t look like Pete Wentz’s rejected twin brother (no offense) any more.

Awesome performance. As much as I don’t want him to win, I loved it. Loved it. I don’t think it was really CURRENT per se, but it was damn good. Saved the night. And I still don’t think Lil did bad.

  • lizland

I want to like Adam but I just don’t see how he can be considered current. That is a drunken wedding song if ever I heard one. He went back to yelling at me this week.

I really don’t like anyone. I dislike a few that I wouldn’t want to see win, but really otherwise don’t care who takes the crown.

  • mitchellvii

Adam Lambert may be the most humble, genuinely nice guy on earth. Givin props to the band? Incredible.

    That was amazing.

  • OldHag

Adam is just plain awesome. He is so much better than everyone else that it isn’t even funny.

  • CookifiedTexan

This whole show has been pointless up until Adam’s performance. You go girl! LOL :D But I liked Allison’s “No Doubt” performance too…thought the guitar was kinda pointless, but she’s cute and has one hell of a voice. Plus I love No Doubt.

    Would love an Adam/Allison finale.

ETA: Add Kris to the top of my list as well. He impresses me more and more each week.

  • St.Lucia

Hello, Adam. HELLO. That was riveting.

And I love how I can predict some people’s performances, and yet, I never know what the heck I’m gonna get out of Adam.

    I LOVE THAT.

  • Hannah Palindrome

I don’t remember David Cook talking back to the judges??? I never thought he was cocky. Danny is SMUG…

  • dulce

Adam Lambert will win American Idol. I just don’t see how anyone can catch him. I’m not even that big of a fan of his, I just appreciate that he is talented and thinks outside of the box.

If I were everyone else, I’d just kick back and enjoy the ride already. I mean, seriously. Lambert is unbeatable…I think. WHo’s gonna catch him? Gokey?

  • Heart

Thank goodness for the great reviews! Not so nervous now.

Getty already has some back stage pictures. Adam DOES look beautiful!

  • mitchellvii

Did she say Studio 57? Lol, I thought it was Studio 54?

Kris is great again. I am betting Kris gets mkore votes than Danny tonight.

  • background_noise

Oooo, loving Kris. Wow!!! Say hello to the Top 2!

  • rayni

    Wow. Kris FTW.

    Wow. My new favorite.

    Wow.

  • jammasta

Wow, Kris just came out of the shell O_O. So far this performance is really good too

Holy freaking God, where the hell did that come from? I know he’s been awesome the past few weeks, but damn, that was AWESOME!

Kris and Adam won the night. Was that Kara who said “3 words: That. Is. Artistry!” She counted right!

  • ShariG

I love Kris. He is so cute and I think a true artsit. I like that he is slowing it down and doing something completely different. I like him playing the keyboards. I hope the judges like it. You just don’t know tonight. They haven’t been in sync with me with everyone. Kara and Paula seem to like it.

  • Hannah Palindrome

I think Adam is talented, but I’m not on the train.
I just think he sounds very Broadway.
    What do I know…I’m not a singer

  • Victoria

I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t remember David Cook talking back to the judges??? I never thought he was cocky. Danny is SMUGà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦

David never did. I miss him. :glurps_tb:

    Really liking Kris.

ETA: I think Kara might have meant Studio 57, the night club. Not Studio 54.

  • jnd1221

    Damn Kris, that was beautiful.

  • soccerboi

    Love Love Love Kris…so good

  • Lisa

Kris is the best tonight hands down. Adam close second.

I just can’t stand to watch Kris sing. Loved hearing it tho.

  • downeast

Gotta hand it hand to him, Kris is the best of the night. And I don’t even like him.

  • SashaB

Adam Lambert is so OTT Broadway it cracks me up. Sorry, he’s very retro.

Wow, Kris is really amazing. Loved that performance.

  • wordnerdarchie

Ah, I’m liking Kris. He’s looking good, and sounding sincere.

  • houstonrufus

They saved the best for last. Kris just killed that song. Best of the night.

  • Grammie Kari

Kris sounds oh so good! Nice looking and a soulful delivery.

Now, I am worried about Anoop. Not that he will go home, but that he may be in the bottom three.

The performances have been really good tonight. Even Megan was a little bit better, but it is Adam that blew me away.

  • St.Lucia

This Kris Allen guy is growing on me!

  • elisad

    OMG Kris was…OMG

  • Victoria

    Kara learned to count! :laugh_tb:

  • SparklesATL

Thank God Adam didn’t wind up writhing on the floor showing his hairy belly at the end of the song.

Just for a second, I was afraid. Having flashbacks maybe because of the psychedelic light show.

  • ShariG

Oh I am so happy for him. I loved that. Maybe Kris will make it to the finals with Adam. I was just hoping he would make it to top 4. Now I think he may make it further. I really hope so.

  • tinawina

    Kris. Whoa.

I think he just converted me. LOL.

    I would buy his album.

I don’t know you can call a moment yourself. hee.

  • lizland

Kris was great. My favorite of the night.

  • chicksineggz

    KRIS WAS AMAZING!!!!!
Yay. He saved the show for me. (:

  • wordnerdarchie

I’ve finally found my idol for this year. Kris all the way to finale!

  • ShariG

If Megan makes it through another round there is something wrong with the world.

  • mitchellvii

I think Kris just moved into the #2 spot behind Adam. that really was amazing. Funny how Kris and Adam are roommates. I am betting Adam is teaching Kris a lot about performing.

Kris looks just like Enrique Iglasias

  • Victoria

Thank God Adam didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t wind up writhing on the floor showing his hairy belly at the end of the song.

Just for a second, I was afraid. Having flashbacks maybe because of the psychedelic light show.

    :laugh_tb: ME TOO!

I love Kris. He just bumped Allison out of second-favorite for me. He wanted to create a moment. I think he did!

  • Jx223

I am not a fan of Kris, but I give credit for giving a good performance tonight. I definitely think that his performance was one of the best tonight.

  • Tony

    KRIS WAS INCREDIBLE

  • jpgrief

My final thoughts: I did think Adam was great, in my opinion he deserves to win it all.
I will still vote for Anoop, he is certainly entertaining and has a great voice (not the caliber of Adam’s voice though).
I love this site (thanks MJ!!) even though it gets bombarded and will continue to visit it for updates and opinions.
I am, however, done with watching AI! This show has become a parody of itself.
P.S. I’m still a David Cook fan now and forever, even though I’m old enough to be his mom!

  • Trina

    Holy shit! OMG Kris!

  • Michelle

So Kris did good? \o/ Now I can’t wait till it airs here!!!

  • mitchellvii

    Ok tonight:

    1) Adam
    2) Kris (damn close to Adam)
    3) Allison
    4) Danny
    -
    Everyone else sucked.

  • ShariG

Danny, Allison, Adam, and Kris are just at a different level, I think, from the rest of the competition, although Anoop, Lil and Scott were good tonight too compared to Matt and Megan.

  • OldHag

Now, I am worried about Anoop. Not that he will go home, but that he may be in the bottom three.

I think he will end up in the bottom three – what I am really worried about is that he will end up being sent home. He is in that dreaded first spot and they slammed him pretty bad. Add to that the excessive compliments to Scott…..

  • gingerly

My top 3 are my top 3 from last week. Adam and Kris (either order works) and then Allison. I’m really unconcerned about the rest of them. They can all go home now. I wouldn’t have said that about the rest of them until tonight, but they proved to me they are unworthy to share the stage with these 3.

  • Jocelin

Kris- tops tonight. My second “Wow!” of the season. I thought Kris and Allison were the only ones that sounded current and fresh.

    Ranking:

    Kris
    Allison
    Adam
    Danny

    …..the rest.

  • mitchellvii

    Michelle,

Adam was amazing and Kris was maybe 1/2 an inch behind him. Songs were very different so hard to compare.

  • phildog716

Kris was brilliant tonight, great arrangement, well performed, great emotion. Just terrific. I give him the night, Adam 2nd, Allison 3rd. Tempted to put Scott 3rd just because he did not suck.

  • kiwifan

Lol, Adam is the Sanjaya of Season 8 with his hair, but the dude has talent

  • jpfan

He’s not just cute. Kris went to the top of my list even though I’m not voting.
I hope he ends up at least#2. Everybody but Adam and Danny seemed awful. And I don’t think either Adam or Danny was an A.

Bottom for Me: Anoop, Meghan, Matt all really bad

  • s0x_prisoner

holy crap, KRIS IS AMAZING! I think my favorites have been re-arranged today.

  • chewsday

I restrained myself this week. I’ll just leave two comments. Oh, my bleeding ears, Adam! I hate being screamed at. (And there’s nothing sexy, to me, anyway, about his hip swiveling, faux-Elvis moves.) Kris took one of my all time favorite songs (and one that I believe Taylor does the definitive version of – after Bill Withers, of course) and created a moment for himself. Way to go, Kris.

  • chicksineggz

    I don’t think Matt was that bad…

  • jammasta

I didn’t watch the first half yet. Is that a good thing? I watched starting from Scott, and the only one who really didn’t do great in my opinion was Matt. He’s one of my favorites still, but he just did not choose the right song at all. Even Lil doesn’t deserve the hate she’s getting.

Adam and Kris just freaking decimated the night, and I didn’t even watch the first half. I mean, I wasn’t even on the Adam train because honestly he’s over pimped (kinda like Danny), but I think I just might jump on it. Kris did better though. He’s really coming out of his shell, and he might be the David Cook of this season who suddenly jump starts and surpasses the original front runner (I’m still sad to say that, I was an Archie fan last season).

  • wfowfowfo

Kris was wonderful. Adam too. I watched the entire show in 10 minutes — yay me. No Paula, No Simon, No Randy, No what-her-face… the best way to watch American Idol. I’ll just check back here tomorrow night and see who gets sent home.

  • yeahyeahsure

    WINNER! WINNER! WINNER!

God, I’m so in love. That was BRILLIANT. KRIS, you ARE the Idol

  • sanrio76

Yup, still on that Kris train.

  • dulce

Bottom 3: Megan, Anoop, Scott (Matt will be saved because of his bottom 3 appearance last week).

Going Home: Scott (I know I know…but there were BETTER people tonight to steal the casual vote, Anoop’s fan base will basically vote till their hands fall off and well…the kid does have peeps. Same with Megan’s peeps. That leaves Scott. Boo)

  • leome

See, Kris is the guy to pimp, not Matt!
    That was great.

  • http://myspace.com/pm68 Pam

Kris was just wow! I think Simon’s comments were spot on. He seemed to be one of the few that actually understood the definition of making the song your own while making it sound current. Very nice!

  • jumpstart

    OMG, Kris was freakin amazing!

I thought I had my favorite nailed down … but I think my favorite just changed!

  • sunchick

So, I have this to say….

    ADAM!!!!!!!! :clap_tb: :clap_tb: :clap_tb:

    Kris! :thumbup_tb:

    Did anyone else perform? :ponder_tb:

Egocentric aside: I would also like to add that Adam and to a lesser extent Kris have been my favorites pretty consistently all along, so maybe, just maybe, this year, I finally might get my dream top two! Seriously, that would be epic. In four seasons of watching AI, I’ve never even had a fave make it to the finale before Cook last season.

  • Niall

LOVED Adam again this week. He took a song choice that made me cringe and turned it into a brilliant choice. The guy has amazing musical instincts.

Anoop actually needs to listen to the judges. He’s much more Michael Bolton than Usher and needs to stop trying to be something he isn’t. He’s a nice frat boy with a great voice, not an ounce of genuine swagger or street. He’ll look foolish if he really tries for an Usher/Ne-Yo/Justin Timberlake career.

  • dulce

Just for the record, Kris Allen has NEVER been in the bottom 3 yet. For those who like to follow idol history…this should be key.

  • GeminiDolly

This night sucked major. Kris was the best nobody else in sight.

  • frogcooke

Kris was just plain awesome tonight. Loved him last week and this week was awesome again!

second for me allison despite going wtf to the outfit, lol

I actually liked Danny’s too tonight and I agree his best one so far.

  • Duke

Kris overcooked the middle of the song for me.

Adam killed that song. I let out a giant NOOOOOOOOO!!! when he said he was singing PTFMWB, but i was grinning the whole way through the song. Amazing. NO comparison for me to anyone else on the show. league of his own. unreal. favorite contestant ever.

  • mitchellvii

Lol, OMG, on DialIdol after first pass Scott is actually ahead of Adam Lambert? Lol, no way.

  • jz

Adam is going to be EXTREMELY polarizing this week. Count on it.

Kris is going to be highest rated by the idol and media community by far.

That said, I LOVE BOTH THOSE GUYS.

  • Soulkaren

No screaming ~ no shrieking ~ just spot-on vocals and beautiful keyboard arrangement…

Kris gave a beautiful performance tonight ~ what a relief to my tired ears.

    Go KRIS !

  • mitchellvii

Who the hell is actually working so hard to vote for Scott? Stop it! he suuuuucks!

  • ShariG

I am trying like crazy to vote for Kris and the lines have been busy the whole time so far. That is a good sign. Going to keep trying. That was really incredible. Loved it!

  • OldHag

Anoop actually needs to listen to the judges. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s much more Michael Bolton than Usher and needs to stop trying to be something he isnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a nice frat boy with a great voice, not an ounce of genuine swagger or street. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll look foolish if he really tries for an Usher/Ne-Yo/Justin Timberlake career.

That’s the whole problem – he did listen to the judges. If he survives, I hope he thinks about tonight and instead takes your advice. The boy can kill ballads.

  • http://www.myspace.com/rjveritas MrRJ

Yes MJ perhaps there is an alternative universe. Allison had a great start and I was inpressed with her not singing through her nose. She then got frenetic, out of time and yes, shouty. She should have stayed unplugged.

  • Michelle

Lol, OMG, on DialIdol after first pass Scott is actually ahead of Adam Lambert? Lol, no way.

    And Kris is
    -#1
    -Ahead of Gokey

I think I will take a screenshot for posterity’s sake.

  • Grammie Kari

Anoop had really a bad moment, people like him because he is nice and he looked arrogant, Megan has always talked even tough she sucked.

Now Simon told him not to be so nice last week. Anoop is trying to follow the judges advice. I still liked his performance better than Lil and Megan’s.

  • Tracy

Kris was the best one tonight, I think. I always thought he’s been pleasant but kinda forgettable. Tonight was good stuff, though.

    Ranking tonight:

    Kris
    Allison

Adam (begrudingly because I really wasn’t feeling it)

While I don’t think Matt was as bad as the judges made it out to be, I was still kinda “meh” on him tonight. Overall, the night was pretty lame actually.

  • GeminiDolly

    Kris

    Major gap

    Allison
    Adam

    Gap

    Danny
    Anoop

    Small Gap

    Scott
    Lil
    Megan

    Gap
    Matt

  • DawnFire

are the numbers for Kris and Adam correct here? 4708 and 4709? not 5708?

  • mitchellvii

What surprises me is that Allison just seems to have no solid fan base.

  • mitchellvii

Danny Gokey always does well on the East Coast because of the Bible Belt voters.

  • houstonrufus

I never would have thought Kris had this kind of musicality and ability for interpretation that he has been demonstrating week after week. Minus the weak last note, I thought he was excellent, fresh, and thoughtful. He’s my best of the night.

My second best goes to Allison. I thought she sounded great in the beginning, but I’m starting to feel like she sings every song the same way. She is current though. And at least she picked something that’s been released within the last 10 years or so.

My third fave goes to Matt. He is arguably my favorite contestant in that I’d buy his music. I do think he is overthinking things a little. He did pick a current song, but it came off sounding like an imitation.

My 4th I’ll give to Adam. He was my first last week. I know the Adam fans think anything he does is first rate because he’s at least entertaining. But I need more than that. I should rank him lower just because he sooooo missed a good opportunity to sing something current and tonight just sounded like I walked into disco night at some club. Not really liking it.

5th I’ll give to Danny. I will never buy that he is a brilliant singer or any of that crap, but he was good and heartfelt tonight. Brilliant, no.

Anyone else I can’t remember and don’t want to.

  • amnicr

Thus far in this season, Adam, Kris and Allison have been the only reasons I’ve watched and they have yet to let me down.

Let me just say….. I’m a massive David Cook fan. No one can touch the sexy rock swagger that he has… I was a bit reluctant to watch this season thinking no one could top what he did last year…

but Kris Allen just may be the guy who becomes the inevitable ‘dark horse’ to run away with this competition. He totally blew me away tonight.

Adam has a crazy range on him…..and he’s always entertaining. That guy can SING.

And Alison…. well I just think she’s fantastic in her own right. I normally don’t like female singers but I really like her.

  • ealbino

    1) Kris :clap_tb: :thumbup_tb: :clap_tb: :jittery_tb:
    2) Danny :clap_tb:
    3) Adam :thumbup_tb:
    4) Allison
    -
    Everyone else sucked

  • Niall

Damn Allison might be in trouble again. I’m pretty sure Megan will go home tonight but I can see another trip to the bottom 3 for Miss Iraheta. It is ridiculous that somebody as talented as her languishes unless she gets the pimp spot and lavish praise.

After tonight, I think Kris Allen is going to start getting the pimping the show probably planned to give Matt.

  • ShariG

    Ealbino, I agree completely!

  • thesheriff

Ain’t KNOW Sunshine? LOL one of those typing slips… :wink1_tb:

  • Trina

I totally took a DialIdol screencap because what are the odds of Kris ever being #1 again? He’ll probably drop within minutes LOL

  • chicksineggz

Kris may be like the David Cook this season. He’s the one no one expected to win in the beginning but he just keeps getting better.

I just loved that he picked an old song, rearranged and made it sound current.

Adam was really good, but it’s just not my cup of tea and I would never listen to that again.

  • sparklesgirl2

Kris was definitely my favorite of the night. Adam was crazy as usual, but pretty good.

I thought Matt would have hit a home run with that song, but he didn’t… :(

Allison was a little shouty, but I am definitely voting for her!

Danny = horrid, way pimped, etc. Ugh. All he knows how to do is shout a song. No delivery, no phrasing, no performance quality. Ick. Lil is getting to be about the same; I miss her Mary J. Blige days.

Scott – definitely his best performance ever. I may actually send him some votes.

Anoop – better than the judges said, but will be bottom 3 because he’s buried in the beginning. Eek.

Megan – trainwreck. Vocals not her worst, but she looked lost. I saw something strange in her eyes tonight!

  • mitchellvii

Adam Lambert #1 on DialIdol’s Raw Vote Total. Gokey in 5th. Idol’s scoring is weird.

  • Valentin432

This was one of the worse night of Idol, I don’t care if the last two contestants were brilliant, the judges were just out of control with their pimping.

Seacrest going for Lil kids was shameless, is that really what it comes down to???? Using kids to make their mother look good.
Gokey pimping was also increadible painfull to suffer, while the judges focused on Allison’s dress… I almost slamed my keyboard.

I am very worried about Allison, she didn’t have a bad performance like Megan, Anoop and Matt that would make her fans vote and she doesn’t have much teenagers voting for her because… well because she is not a cute boy.

Kris was very good and this is going to make him a top contender because he has the likability, is the less polarizing contestant of all and the fans love to root for the underdog coming from nowhere.

Adam was Adam, absolutely brilliant, a cameleon with brilliant vocals, but also extremely polarizing. This is who he is and I am just glad I got to witness it.

  • SpenserJ

Yes MJ perhaps there is an alternative universe.

LOL – that’s what I asked in Chat. I wasn’t sure if I was watching the same show.

Danny was horrible. I have no idea what the judges were talking about.

I thought Anoop & Allison were both better than the judges thought they were.

Matt pulled out the falshitto again. He can go now.

While that wasn’t my favorite Adam performance, I still enjoyed it.

    Kris kicked everyone’s ass tonight.

Still putting my 20 points on scotty hardcore – even if America won’t vote out the blind guy.

  • http://myspace.com/pm68 Pam

I totally took a DialIdol screencap because what are the odds of Kris ever being #1 again? Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll probably drop within minutes LOL

Trina-It’s a good think you did because Danny now has the #1 spot with Kris a very close 2nd. lol

  • jammasta

My favorites have changed heavily this season.

At first it was Lil Rounds, Michael Sarver, Megan Joy, and Matt Giraud.

Then it became Lil, Danny, Anoop, and Allison, with Michael still up there.

Right now it’s Lil, Kris, and Adam. Danny, Matt, Anoop, and Allison are also great. Megan and Scott, not so much.

They’re all good singers. I’m probably one of the few who thinks whe have a really good top 10. The problem? A lot of them really SUCK at choosing songs. If they chose better songs the season would be really good.

  • mitchellvii

Well, we know from last week that DialIdol is really off base this year. There is no way they had Matt anywhere close to bottom 2. I think he was Top 4 actually.

  • OldHag

Anoop is second from bottom on DialIdol. I am really worried about him. Scott is fourth – why, oh why.

  • DawnFire

i think the numbers listed up above for Kris and Adam are wrong, shouldn’t it be 5708 and 5709?

  • dulce

where the heck r Allison’s fans?

BTW, dial idol change. Kris Allen just went green. Allison just dropped below Anoop. Megan carries the tail.

  • SparklesATL

    mitchellvii Mar 31st, 2009 at 9:37 pm

Danny Gokey always does well on the East Coast because of the Bible Belt voters.

And Lil always does well in the south because of all the black voters.
And Allison does well in NYC because of all the Puerto Rican voters.
And Adam does well on the Left Coast because of all the gay voters.

Where do all the blind people live?

And when did all the people who believe in God move to the East Coast?

  • AInoob

Wow, Kris nailed that performance. I think he’s definitely a dark horse. For some reason, he’s always flown somewhat below my radar even though I always thought he did a good job and was original. But this week, for me, he was by far the best of the night. I love how he changes up the arrangements.

  • s0x_prisoner

Kris may be like the David Cook this season. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s the one no one expected to win in the beginning but he just keeps getting better.

I just loved that he picked an old song, rearranged and made it sound current.

Adam was really good, but ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s just not my cup of tea and I would never listen to that again.

I totally agree with everything you just said.

  • ealbino

    chicksineggz- DITTO :thumbup_tb:

  • americanidolfan102

All I have to say is wooooo. :clap_tb:

I picked Kris out from his audition and picked him as my overall pick for the pool before top 13.

I’m pretty good at picking up the dark horses, and predicting the winner though.

    My favorites were.
    Kris
    (HUGE gap)
    Allison
    (gap)
    Adam
    Matt
    (gap)
    Danny
    Lil
    Scott
    Anoop
    Megan

    Pretty boring night though.

    I’M JUST SO EXCITED FOR KRIS! :laugh_tb: :laugh_tb: :laugh_tb:

  • Scout1971

Kris Allen will be in the final 4, and likely the top 2. And although Adam may be the most talented singer of this season, he’ll have a tough time winning. He’s just too polarizing – people either love him or hate him, and I’m guessing there is a sizable block of people who just will never, never vote for him.

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj

are the numbers for Kris and Adam correct here? 4708 and 4709? not 5708?

Sorry, typo. they are 5708 and 5709

  • bruno

Adam is turning into a Taylor Hicks – and not because both sang the same song. But because Adam’s talent is best suited for a performance on stage but will fall flat when it comes to recording just as Taylor did.

Adam is not marketable as a recording artist. A performer – yes. But a recording artist – no.

What he sang tonight was fun to watch but hell, I wouldn’t download that.

He has to be careful if he really wants to win this thing – which after tonight I doubt he does.

  • allisonkrismatt

How is Allison in the bottom 2 on DialIdol? Why don’t people vote for her.. this chick can sing! VOTE VOTE VOTE.

Scott needs to go immediately. He ruins the show for me.

  • sunchick

Kris may be like the David Cook this season. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s the one no one expected to win in the beginning but he just keeps getting better.

Why do people always say that? I pegged Cook as a contender after Happy Together, which was the first eppy I watched last season. I mean, I know that Archuleta appeared to be the heavy favorite out of the gate, but I always figured Cook was the only one who could give the kid a run for his money. But yeah, Adam/Kris is sounding more likely.

  • jz

Kris is in the green! :)
    :clap_tb:

  • hollygo9

YES! Kris brought it! He had his break out moment tonight! I can’t wait to buy that song!

  • Hoppy

Where do all the blind people live?

Probably near all the deaf people voting for Megan every week.

……. okay, I admit that was wrong. ;) But, seriously!

  • Victoria

I’m getting a lot of silence voting for Adam. No busy signal, no dial tone, no “thanks for voting” message… just silence. Anyone else have this problem?

  • SpenserJ

Where do all the blind people live?

Oh Sparkles, that was just evil enough to make me LMAO.

Well, the judges gave Allison a lot of shit about her outfit – but I wore some horrendously bad clothes when I was 16 too – so I cut her slack on that one. Rock on Lava Girl!

  • Scamp

I hope it doesn’t matter and it probably doesn’t since those of us who vote know the Idol numbers by heart, but the ADAM and KRIS numbers are wrong. The dialer will probably know right away. I’m not sure why I’m posting this. :)

Anyway, Adam was wonderful, then Allison, then Kris. I don’t like saying negative comments, but I just didn’t get the rave on Danny.

  • hypertwink

I find Kris’ scrunchyface so cute.

ETA: Meet the new TCO, ladies and gentlemen.

  • bruno

I betcha TPTB are just salivating over Kris. After tonight, I can definitely see him as the “American Idol”. He’s cute, great singer, and has a voice that suits the radio. His star is rising!!!

  • soccerboi

Dial Idol only measures busy signals from people that have their software. No text votes are taken into account which always seem to alter their outcome. Its fun to use it as an indicator of how things are going but its not entirely accurate in how they stack up against each other.

  • dulce

Just saw Kris Allen. GREAT JOB. I thought I was the only one that liked that guy after his semi-final performance…thank goodness I was wrong. Still LOVE Anoop, something about him just being like one of my buddies here at home, but I don’t think he can win. That being said, I think he should go completely ALL OUT for the rest of his time there and sing whatever he wants to.

I take my Scott being gone prediction back. Megan’s gone. Look at DI. Not even close.

  • Hannah Palindrome

I’m not on the Kris train…haha
I would never buy his album. I just don’t think he’s that special.
I’m getting old. LOL or JLO (Chelsea Handler-haha)

Where are the Kelly Clarksons & David Cooks!!!

  • wonderwhy

I still can’t get on the Adam train. He would have been a great ’70s rock star. Current, not so much. Yes he can really sing but IMO he’s starting to get boring. Some of the other contestants are growing and getting better. There’s still a long way to go. Overall the night was not too good.

Season 6 is looking better and better in hind sight, as far as creativity, artistry, and diverse and distinctive voices. They didn’t sass back to the judges, either.

  • mitchellvii

    SparklesATL,

Facts is facts. Gokey is always strong early and Lambert surges when the West Coast votes.

It’s called “demographics” – get over it.

  • Valentin432

How is Allison in the bottom 2 on DialIdol? Why donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t people vote for her.. this chick can sing! VOTE VOTE VOTE.

She is not a cute boy and doesn’t have a niche of voters, that is all it comes down to. Rock chicks don’t have an audiance on Idol, therefore they depend heavily on casual voters.

I love how the fanbases of Anoop or Matt are voting like crazy after two of the shittiest performances I’ve seen and the obvious arrogant attitude.

  • chicksineggz

Kris did exactly what I’ve been wanting Matt Giraud to do this whole competition. That’s the reason I started liking Matt in the first place. During Hollywood week, he mostly arranged the I Want You Back group performance, which was really cool. So why oh why did do have to do a copycat performance?!!?! Urgghhhh.

Hey, Megan’s last on dial idol! Maybe she’ll actually get voted off!
I predict Allison to be in the Bottom 3. But in no way does she deserve it.

  • mitchellvii

“lil Rounds is always so strong. Who the heck is voting for her so Hard?

  • SparklesATL

Probably near all the deaf people voting for Megan every week.

Oh Sparkles, that was just evil enough to make me LMAO.

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahah @ Hoppy High Five!

SpencerJ, that’s why they call me “Evil Sparkles” ;)

  • Skylark

    Bruno, ditto that.

  • Victoria

Anyone else having trouble with the voting lines?

I’m’ getting silence, static, and “your call did not go through.” No busy signal. I’m only getting a “thanks for voting” message very rarely.

  • Lexus

I’m not at all on the Anoop train, but I didn’t get the judges’ harsh critiques of his performance tonight. I didn’t think he was bad at all. Lil on the other hand…oy! I like her a lot…just not her singing. I think it’s a given that Megan is headed home tomorrow night. Matt was a major disappointment. Major. Danny did very well. Allison is my 3rd favorite….after Adam and Kris.

Kris is the dark horse who is starting to pull a Cook. His confidence is growing each week. He’s hitting his stride.

The only one who I never worry about is Adam. When he comes onto the stage, there’s a calmness that comes over me because I know he’s going to raise the bar and have me transfixed no matter what he chooses. He’s very wise. I can’t help but think he has the AI formula figured out. Even if you don’t like him, you can’t not appreciate his talent. I also need to add that I think he’s such a sweet and considerate guy. Helping Scott to the stage in the intro and thanking the band were such decent things to do.

I’m hoping for a Kradam finale.

  • Michelle

Saw Kris over at Rickey’s. Kris was awesome! Hi five to all my fellow Kris fans who knew he had it in him :D

  • amiroamor

he mostly arranged the I Want You Back group performance, which was really cool.

where did you get that info? it might be kris, since he was in that group ;)

  • jumpstart

I’ve been trying continuously since the show ended and STILL can’t get through to vote for Kris.

  • Lys

Kris pwns at arranging songs. That is all. :)

  • kiwifan

Can’t buy into Kris. Don’t see any greatness, just an average singer. I think he does the same thing each week.

I’m not an Adam fan, but would prefer him to win it

  • Valentin432

I still canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t get on the Adam train. He would have been a great à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢70s rock star. Current, not so much. Yes he can really sing but IMO heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s starting to get boring

    Adam is borring???
Are you watching the same show as I am?
His singing may be not your taste but the 4 performances he did during the finals are the most diverse of any contestant ever on Idol.

  • Grammie Kari

    Anooooop ):
He needs to stop trying to please people. He needs to stop trying so hard. He needs to relax.

I do agree with you. Now, as a fan I didn’t think he was being arrogant. However, I don’t think he gathered any new fans. I had forgotten about Chekezie’s performance which means more to me than Usher’s (sorry). I wish he had chosen a song another Idol hadn’t done already.

Well, I just hope he doesn’t leave tomorrow. If Anoop goes, I will be done voting for the season. (Adam is still another favorite, though.)

  • lakerchristinee

How come Adam has always been featured in the latter half of the show? The only time he was near the front of the pack was Ring of Fire…gah. At least Kris got the pimp spot today, and deservedly so. He’s been in the front half most shows, so I’m glad they’re being fair to him. Very, very concerned for Anoop. I love that kid so much and he CAN sing–but goodness, he is in desperate need for a breakout performance. If he goes home before Megan, I really do not know what I’ll do.

  • bruno

adam will go out third. he blew it tonight. what the hell kind of music is he going to record? he’s all over the map. he’s a performer, not a recording artist. sound familiar???? can you spell t-a-y-l-o-r h-i-c-k-s. no way will the producers let another taylor win the show.

  • yeahyeahsure

Anyone else thought that Kris was underpraised?! I guess that’s good because he won’t look like a pimped one but I’m surprised that the judges weren’t drooling and all that.

  • Scamp

Oh yeah, I forgot to say that I LOVED Allison’s hair and outfit and I thought the stage lighting was perfect for her tonight. She never looked so pretty. My first thought was: Oh how cute! Allison looks adorable. I wanted to give her a hug.

It was bad enough Randy and Simon ragged on her outfit, but why didn’t Paula who dresses just like Allison : ))) support her a little bit???

  • SparklesATL

Facts is facts. Gokey is always strong early and Lambert surges when the West Coast votes.

    Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s called à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“demographicsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ – get over it.

Actually, it’s called “Wide, Sweeping ASSumptions.” I have nothing to get over except my snarkasm, and I like it so I won’t be getting over it anytime soon.

Like I said. When did everyone who has religion move to the East Coast? And when did all the gays move to the West Coast?

  • SpenserJ

    Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s called à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“demographicsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ – get over it.

Aw, Sparkles was making a funny. (I’m down with snarkasm too)

Kris did exactly what Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve been wanting Matt Giraud to do this whole competition.

I don’t think Matt has the mental fortitude to ever do it. He loses it every time out there on the live stage (to me anyway). America will not keep forgiving him (’cause he’s not blind).

    ETA:

Canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t buy into Kris. Donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t see any greatness, just an average singer. I think he does the same thing each week.

I think Kris is extremely musically gifted. I’d guess he plays several more instruments. He may not have a big recording career ahead of him. But, he can definitely make a living – especially on the producing end.

Kris pwns at arranging songs. That is all. :)

I suspect this is true as well.

  • gingerly

It’s so funny that this is their chance to do a current song…sound current, and all but 3 of them sucked hind tit. Meh, still not voting. I really like Kris and Adam. I think Allison is ok but she still hasn’t proven to me she can sing more than 5 notes. I’m still waiting for a breakout performance from her and I don’t know that she has it in her. I think she’s awesome “for her age” but age doesn’t really matter to me in this competition. She’s not yet been the most awesome for me. That is all that matters. Both Adam and Kris have and continue to amaze.

  • lakerchristinee

I’m curious as to what the judges want Anoop to sing. They say the ballads are too boring and too serious, and go on to suggest something upbeat in which they say it’s just a mess. If I were him, I’d be banging my head against the wall in frustration every single day. I really want to know what goes on behind the scenes, as in who is fighting for what song, what the list consists of, any problems they had to overcome, etc.

  • iloveoliver

I am just loving Kris. Three straight weeks in a row with just awesome performances. Loved him on the keyboards and the guitar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO, KRIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • bruno

Facts is facts. Gokey is always strong early and Lambert surges when the West Coast votes.

    Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s called à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“demographicsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ – get over it

maybe for adam it should be called “demon-graphics”

  • hollygo9

Anyone else thought that Kris was underpraised?! I guess thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s good because he wonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t look like a pimped one but Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m surprised that the judges werenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t drooling and all that.

I cannot wait to buy that song on itunes.

  • nad

This was a bad week just in general..

Anoop: I liked him—maybe not his best…..but wow the judges threw him under the bus for no reason…b/c he can still sing and has a better voice than alot of the other contestants…i’m still voting for him..b/c he sure as hell should not leave before Megan!!

Megan: I had to turn my ears away…Please America and do us all a favor and not vote for her

Danny: He was PITCHY through the whole song!!! It was horrible…talk about major pimping…I’m getting sick of it…

Allison: Frankly if Allsion wins I win my office pool..so that is the only reason I will vote for her…but tonite was not her best..AT ALL…she needs to stop slurring her words

Scott: I actually agree that this was his best performance by a country mile….He is nice…and he deserves to stay one more week over Megan…

Matt: I like him…but not this song…you could hear the nerves….hey if being in the bottom 2 last week unerved you that much then this competition is not for you.

Lil: Are u serious? They are pimping her by bringing out the kids!!! It was literally yelling at me..and really I wanted to surrender myself for that performance!!

Adam: I really think he is a category by himself…and last week was brilliant..Hated this performance and all the screeching and yelling…and honestly…are you guys really wanting to hear that every week…cuz I don’t…

Kris: The best performance of the night….enough said

American Idol should never do this theme again. And Kara It’s studio 54!!!
    Pimping needs to stop….

  • SpenserJ

what the hell kind of music is he going to record? heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s all over the map. heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a performer, not a recording artist. sound familiar???? can you spell t-a-y-l-o-r h-i-c-k-s. no way will the producers let another taylor win the show.

I think Taylor is the perfect example of the fact that the producers do not always get what they want. I have no idea if Adam will win, nor do I know what kind of recording artist he will be.

But, since 25 million people watch this show, and only about a million or so actually buy an AI winner’s post-show CD, I suspect most of the viewers are not thinking about the end game either.

I think the “performance” aspect has a lot to do with winning a TV talent show of any kind. And, because of that (coupled with the occasions when Adam has shown his stellar vocals), I think Adam has just as good a chance of winning as anyone else.

  • bean99

Anoop- I enjoyed his performance but I guess it’s time to throw him under the bus — death spot and bad reviews from the judges. I didn’t get it since enjoyed it and the look.

Megan- Horrible, very amateurish. That’s 2 weeks in a row that she said her fans love her/will stick with her. I think she’s a little too full of herself. Please send her home America.

Danny- Loved it. I was surprised he would pick Rascal Flatts but he brought it tonight.

Allison- I didn’t like it at all. It sounded like bad karaoke and I love Allison so was sorry to hear it. Agreed with the judges on the horrid outfit.

Scott- I like his personality but am over him. Why couldn’t he pick something current or even a more lively Billy Joel song?

Matt- I actually enjoyed it but agreed with the judges that there were other songs that would have been better.

Lil- Decent vocals but hate the big ballads. I agreed with the judges that she needs to choose better.

Adam- That was the corniest performance yet and can’t believe the judges still loved it. Current, my ass.

Kris- This is the night I take back everything I’ve been saying about him. He was not over-rated tonight and was anything but boring. Good for him.

Best of the night for me: Danny and Kris
    Worst: Megan and Adam

  • Pixie Baker

Gosh, I was disappointed in tonight. There were a few great performances for me but that was it!
I think Kris is a good singer but nothing special. He reminds me of David A….a good singer but …..eh…, not someone I would pay to see or want to hear on the radio too often. I once again loved Adam….but I am not too sure if his appeal for me tonight was because the others are sooooo predictable. Anoop, Kris, Matt , Scott and Danny are all the same to me….at least when Adam comes to the mic, I giggle and can’t wait to see just what he is going to do. He entertains me….*sigh*
Megan is one of the most beautiful young gals I have ever seen…..her singing….ouch!
    Pix

  • wonderwhy

Are you watching the same show as I am?

Yes, I’m watching the same show. I think Adam is getting predictible and he hasn’t left himself any room to grow. He has no arc. He’s always going to give a great performance with a great vocal but it’s more interesting to me to see contestants who actually grow during the course of the season. I don’t think the judges have had much new to say to him for a couple of weeks now.

  • iloveoliver

I really like Kris. I am a sucker for the underdog. He did have the best performance tonight. I am voting for Matt cuz I’m from Michigan and would like to see him go far.

Also can’t believe Danny is #1 at DialIdol and Kris is #2.

  • holeighannie

    LOL at the blind/demographics conversation.

Kris was under-praised, definitely. He did so much more than Danny did but he didn’t get called brilliant or anything, which he was. I loved every dynamic in his performance, this kid is so musically inclined! A Kradam top 2 would be the best final I’ve yet to witness, it would be an incredibly entertaining/artistic win-win situation!

I don’t get the hate from the judges for Matt and Anoop; they weren’t excellent, but they both sang their songs well.

Megan needs to get off the stage 3 weeks ago, ugh.

Danny, Lil and Scott were just meh, in that order. Allison should’ve left the guitar behind, I think she could’ve nailed the vocals much better without having it to worry about, especially for as little as she played it. Still love her though.

Adam’s verses were stellar, I loved how he changed them up, but it was a little OTT for me in the chorus, and I enjoy that side of him. That will always be Taylor’s “f*ck you, show” song for me I guess.

  • http://absinthedreamers.blogspot.com/ Starrlight

I can see the truth in the statement that both Taylor and Adam are performers. But the difference is Adam would be playing Coachella and Taylor would be playing the Doobies casino tour.

  • bruno

taylor tanked where it counted – $$$$. his sales were a flop so where does he end up – on stage performing. hmmm, i see a another taylor coming down the tracks.

adam is an amazing performer but someone like kris (or matt for that matter) is going to out sell him.

  • http://www.theBestArts.com theBestArts

Obviously, I’m a major Adam fan; I posted his most popular video on YouTube plus two others that are picking up steam. I thought he did another great job tonight.

My secondary votes tonight go to Kris Allen and – I can’t believe I’m saying this – Scott MacIntyre. Kris was incredible; I can now see him going to the final two. Scott won’t make the finals, but he should get another couple of weeks out of tonight’s performance. This was definitely his best performance – and was much better than Anoop’s, Matt’s, Lil’s and Danny’s.

I continue to like Allison and don’t understand why she isn’t doing better with voters.

Congrats Adam, Kris, Scott and Allison.

  • SpenserJ

Also canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t believe Danny is #1 at DialIdol and Kris is #2.

I’m not really surprised, what with the widower singing THAT song.

  • sunchick

he blew it tonight. what the hell kind of music is he going to record?

Nah. Jordin excelled at old fogey ballads all season, sucked hard on uptempo numbers, and then turned around and made a decently selling poppy album full of precocious teen lyrics. Being a performer is important in selling out concerts, and if you’re not a gifted songwriter like Cook, who is a rarity on a show like this, labels can find you great songwriters if they are invested enough. Anyway, it’s a long season, and post Idol success depends mostly on who the label wants to invest in when the show is over.

  • Valentin432

Yes, Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m watching the same show. I think Adam is getting predictible and he hasnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t left himself any room to grow. He has no arc

Ok, I get that he doesn’t improve week to week thing and I can understand that you like the whole growing process, but it’s not interesting for you someone who gives a great performance with a great vocal?
And you found what he did predictable after TOMT and ROF?

  • http://archulove.wordpress.com vickyvicks0

what the hell!! anoops voice was really good!!
I just gave it a listen again… so many unfair critics.. allison wasnt that bad either… and I dont even like allison!!!
    lol

  • jpfan

Just overall a very disappointing show. So many of them seemed like lame copies of artists.

Anoop – so bad I actually laughed at his attempt to look gangsta
Megan – truly terrible but pretty
Scott – pale Billy Joel kareoke
Danny – okay but not great
Lil – painfully boring, nothing special
Allison – I’m tired of her screaming at me
Matt- a more talented Chris Richardson not another Elliott Yamin,
Adam – a performer not a recording artist, he’s getting a little boring
Kris – stood out because everyone else was so bad

They weren’t bad because they lack talent. So many of them lack originality and artistry. Simon looks so bored.

  • sunchick

And an aside: Danny’s vocals were awful throughout the middle of his song. It seemed like he was pushing his voice. And Scott sounded better than he ever has. Weird.

  • JOJOSIE

I don’t see Kris as another David Cook. Cook had this personality and great vocals and Kris is just a good singer, no it factor, at least not yet IMO. It’s funny when Adam scrunces his face, it’s theatrical and OTT but when Kris does it it’s emotional and cute. I love Taylor Hicks, I love David Cook and I love Adam Lambert. They all light up the stage and have great vocals that light up my spirit. I think Adams I-Tunes are great and I think he could sell records and the tours would be fantastic. I thought since Allison is hispanic that maybe that might pick up some votes for her but maybe most folks are like me they vote for the talent they like and not for race, religion, region, gender, etc.

  • jersey

I’m not drinking the Anoop kool-aid, I guess. I thought he was horrible.
Allison was good but her words always seem garbled to me.
    Megan needs to go home.
    As does Scott.
Danny sounded totally off pitch to me.
    As did Lil.
Matt – haven’t liked him yet – I think he’s in trouble tonight.
Adam is my fave but this was my least favorite performance from him. I’m going to say it – Taylor’s version of PTFMWB was much more entertaining, IMO.
Kris – outstanding. He made the show tonight.

    Did I miss anyone?

  • lovecert

Dial Idol so far, Megan at the bottom.

  • Grammie Kari

Like I said. When did everyone who has religion move to the East Coast? And when did all the gays move to the West Coast?

Is this really true or is this a joke? Honestly, it has to be a joke. Right? Hahaha…

  • bruno

adam misstepped tonight. not a good thing to sing same song as what taylor did because the association is not favourable. the comparison between the two is now firmly linked. adam = performer = taylor = flop recording artist.

adam should have sang any of the hundreds of more current songs.

  • ordinarygirl09

    \.

Anoop: Sucked majorly. Him being cocky did not help.

Megan: VFTW has her, she will probably stay, again, and again, and again. She was horrible as well.

Danny: He was a little pitchy in spots, I do agree with Kara– he did connect on a emotional level.

Allison: Wow. horrid. It was way to wannabe, and I agree the look was really distracting.

Scott:why is he on this show, yes he should stay over megan, but he is next to go!

Matt: this was a no no matt. tried to sound too much like them and I agree he needs to pick what kinda artist he is going to be!

Lil: Kelly Clarkson killed this song season one! Lil’ did not even come close, she was better than last week but this still was not great!

Adam: he is great, basically the only one I tune in to see now. He isnt afraid to change things up which I love!!

Kris: AMAZING! I actually might vote for him tonight, first contestant I will have voted for this season!!

  • yeahyeahsure

LOL nobody said Kris is a David Cook. What I think they meant was Kris’ pattern is like David’s. Didn’t start out as a TCO but is growing stronger each week. Those two are very different.

  • cookcricket

Anyone else having trouble with the voting lines?

    Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢mà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ getting silence, static, and à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“your call did not go through.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ No busy signal. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m only getting a à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“thanks for votingà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ message very rarely.

Yes, I’m getting Spanish messages. LOL. What’s the deal? I’m hoping these are going through, I’m pretty much guessing this is the same AI message in Spanish!

Saw Kris over at Rickeyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s. Kris was awesome! Hi five to all my fellow Kris fans who knew he had it in him :D

High Five Michelle!!!!!! Woot!!! That was amazing!!!

I’m sorry for Anoop. I do have to say my top four are still Kris, Adam, Allison and Matt. I’m thinking Anoop’s fan base will keep him afloat, so who knows, he may be able to prove something yet!

However, I was simply thrilled with what Kris did tonight!!!

  • St.Lucia

I just don’t even see the Adam/Taylor Hicks thing. It’s comparing Apples to Oranges.

Yes, they are both performers, but that’s where it ends. They sing entirely different things, different stylings, but whereas I didn’t care for anything Taylor released post idol, I have a strong liking to Adam’s voice than I ever did to Taylor’s.

I see what Adam is trying to do and I do think he can be current.

I absolutely don’t want Adam to win American Idol. I really don’t. He’ll be better going out third.

The winner will get a crap CD. I’ve yet to like any Cd any winner puts out as their first album. They always pale in comparison of what I feel any winner is capable of achieving.

If Adam goes out third, he’s better off. He’ll get to play the market his way.

  • adamandeva

I am a huge Adam Fan, but I have to agree with some people here. It was my least favorite so far. Oh well, everyone has a blah week. I still think we haven’t seen the best yet from Adam. There’s still much more to come. Adam is playing this game very smart, we must remember. There’s still like 7 weeks left so Adam still has much more time to up his game. I still think it was a great performance but I loved the past 3 more.

Kris and Allison were my other favs this week.

  • Lexus

I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t see Kris as another David Cook. Cook had this personality and great vocals and Kris is just a good singer, no it factor, at least not yet IMO.

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m not sure if you were responding there to my post, but just to clarify…..I wasn’t comparing Kris to Cook in terms of talent; just in that he’s starting to pull out as a frontrunner as Cook did around this time last season. I agree with you that theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re nothing alike.

  • Suzanne

When all of the judges think the opposite of me, I wonder what’s wrong with me.

    My order

    Kris
    Allison
    Adam
    Danny
    Lil
    Matt
    Anoop
    Scott
    Megan

I’m on the fence regarding who was better/worse–Anoop or Scott. I liked Scott’s song better, marginally, than Anoop’s. Anoop does not understand what a snooty jerk he looks like when he sings a song like that. Too much swagger, Anoop, but I do think he has a better voice than Scott.

Oh, and Danny is a country singer. Do you think he knows that?

Oh, and Lil is just a good singer. that’s it. A fabulous singer with no originality at all. If I heard her voice, she could be anyone.

And Kris is really, really talented. He’s really been hiding in the weeds for a while. He’s the whole package–performer, plays multiple instruments, really sings well, writes music, not horrible to look at. Allison and Adam are both outstanding performers, but I’d rather have a singer/songwriter win so the material on the first CD is personal and not manufactured by the Sony BMG machine.

Oh, and why aren’t they telling Alison how incredibly talented she is? What’s really going on with that. She’s obviously great. I loved her performance tonight. I agree that she sort of looked like she was playing dress up, but that wasn’t important.

  • Danica_K

Wow. That was a weird show.

Anoop – vocals were fantastic, but his performance looked a bit stiff. Sheesh, the judges want him gone, don’t they? Anoop, meet the bus that’s about to run you over. I’m a fan so YMMV, but the backtalk didn’t come across as pissy to me, more frustrated. Judges, please stop jerking Anoop’s chain. Anoop, be yourself and stop listening to the 3 1 Stooges.

Megan – Oh, girl. You are so pretty. That song was just not for you. It was better than her last two performances, but that’s not saying much.

Danny - That was rushed and he was so flat through 80% of the song. What? The judges pimp him and bash Anoop? Psst, judges, I think your agenda is showing.

Alison – Not bad, but not her best. She seemed flat during the verses. Who did her hair? Flowbee?

Scott – Didn’t he sing this song last week, and the week before? It was probably his best, but still subpar.

Matt – Oh, Matt. Don’t be so nervous! It seems his nerves got the best of him and made his voice wander all over the place. I was so set to LOVE this.

Lil - You should have done a Mary J song, girl. That wasn’t great, and was very flat and/or sharp. Good thing your kids are cute because they just bought you another week.

Adam – I was really coming around to you last week. This week? Not so much. You’re fun to watch, thought. And I can admit you’ve got a killer voice even though you aren’t my cuppa.

Kris – gave the performance of the night. He’s not a star, though. He’s cute and nice and has a nice voice and good musicality. I don’t know. He did great tonight, but can he carry the title? Not sure.

Top 3 vocals for tonight go to: Kris, Anoop and Adam.
    Middle: Danny, Alison, Matt
    Bottom: Megan, Scott, Lil

I’d LOVE to see the list they were given to choose from. I wonder how much influence that had on tonight.

  • allisonkrismatt

Honestly.. I’m not going to listen to the judges anymore. How they gave Scott good reviews and bashed Allison so much I will never understand. Last week they interrupted her with that silly crayon thing. I don’t get it.

    Here are my top:

    Kris
    Allison
    Adam
Matt (Just you guys wait for the recorded version.. this kid has talent)

I still think this year has the most talent. I also think the producers are trying to control it way too much. They are trying to get ratings, and their desperation is very transparent.

  • pj

Okay, I might as throw out my 2 cents.

Anoop = better than the judges gave him credit for. I liked the look. At least he attempted to do something current. I am seriously wondering about the list they had to choose from and what the hell this theme really was. I would have preferred “So Sick.”

Megan = Girlfriend can’t choose a song to save her life. I think she hears something different coming from her mouth than everyone else. That. Was. Not. Good.

Danny = Wow. The judges were pimping hard a very mediocre vocal performance. ZZZZZ. He consistently has pitch and breath problems.

Allison = Solid. Not her best, but better than the first three. Of course, the song is a decade old, but it still seemed current compared to a lot of the contestants tonight. I like that she took a risk with the guitar. Her outfit? Fugly, but appropriate for a rocker teen. Faint praise first half = danger zone.

Scott = Better, but not good. He’ll stick around another week, I bet.

Matt = Not playing the game. Doesn’t he know when to stay in the judges’ box? Plus, it wasn’t good.

Lil = Eww. She looked like someone’s auntie. Shouting a Celine song does not make one current.

Adam = Meatloaf returns. Good vocally, but I’m dumbfounded by this song choice. Way to show you’re current. I guess the judges think he can do no wrong. I didn’t like the poofy hair, either.

Kris = fabulous. I loved the arrangement, whether it was his or youtubed. He has really been stepping up to the plate.

I fear for Allison, so she’s getting my votes.

  • SparklesATL

Is this really true or is this a joke? Honestly, it has to be a joke. Right? Hahahaà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦

Awww GrammieKeri, bless your heart. :innocent1_tb:

  • jz

adam misstepped tonight. not a good thing to sing same song as what taylor did because the association is not favourable. the comparison between the two is now firmly linked. adam = performer = taylor = flop recording artist.

adam should have sang any of the hundreds of more current songs.

I adore Adam, but I agree.
This week will not be his best. But you know what – that’s perfectly fine.
It’s only the Top 9, and he’ll be staying for a while, so I think Adam has time to “improve” and strut his stuff.
Can’t raise the bar too high for himself, lol.

  • kiwifan

The bottom 3 is going to be very interesting tomorrow and I don’t think we can rely on DI to indicate who is going home.
The current bottom 3 on DI: Megan, Allison, Anoop are all likely to do very well with the youth text voters, so we could see either Matt or Scott or both in the bottom 3 tomorrow night. Wouldn’t surprise me if Megan somehow escapes elimination for another week.

I think Anoop could be in trouble because he splits votes with Kris and Kris had such a strong week (though not with me lol)

  • baxter

Unless you are a total AI junkie, I seriously doubt most people are going to remember Taylor singing this song 3 years ago. I agree he could/should have picked a more current song, but he still did his thing and did a good job.

Allison looked like a red haired Cyndi Lauper…LOL

Kris did really well. I was impressed. I think he plays other instruments but DUDE please no tuba infused Polka next week…’kay!!!

Anoop did much better than the judges gave him credit for. His vocal was strong and he did just what the judges told him to do and go more uptempo then gets slammed in the ass with a huge grayhound bus….sigh. Guy can’t do anything right.

I have no words for Danny. That was a mess vocally. Pitchy and a tad screamy. He can not sing a verse to save his life but then goes all glory note on the chorus. Talk about predictible. At least I didn’t have to watch him attempt to dance this week. GAG!!!

    Megan…UGH!!! Go Home

Matt…wow…that was not good. And they even gave him the pimp spot in the audience. I loved that Pauler called him out on his frown face. If thats the artist he wants to be, then I for one will never bye anything he records.

Scott….Billy Joel is my absolute favorite musician and you picked the sappiest , most boring song that even BJ refuses to sing anymore. Honesty is a much better song..IMHO.

Lil you are not a belter. Stop trying to prove to us that you are. You are more R-n-B than a diva. I liked your MJB song from the semis. You need to get back to that type of song. And speaking of dressing….LIL that dress did nothing for you….just like everyother week. I want to like Lil but I just can’t.

  • elephant1212

“THE ADAM LAMBERT SHOW”(aka steve perry or mick j …enough said…and yes he can be amazingly current with the right material as diane warren said…..kris was good tonight…but im not going to vote for him until he can bring it for more than one week(can he please stop doing that side mouth thing? it looks like he is about to slobber)…adam/alison finale no doubt

  • dulce

Just watched the performances again…uh…going back to people saying Anoop was cocky tonight. No…I think he’s DONE. That’s the sound of someone who’s JUST HAD IT emotionally with this crap. It did come up somewhat snippy, but heck…whatever. I’m sure he feels the same at this point.

  • lakerchristinee

I don’t think Anoop came off as being arrogant, whatsoever. He gave his own opinion while staying polite, unlike Lil who doesn’t take advice well whatsoever. I’d be frustrated too if I listened to their advice and took an upbeat song and they slammed me for it. However, it channeled the same performance as Beat It. Excellent vocals, but a little overshadowed by the “untouchable” factor of the performances given by original artists. Still going to vote for him tonight :)

  • sunchick

Allison and Adam are both outstanding performers, but Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d rather have a singer/songwriter win so the material on the first CD is personal and not manufactured by the Sony BMG machine.

You know I’m a huge believer in the singer/songwriter, and I’m happy to see Kris sail to the finale, but where is there proof that Kris is a competent songwriter? Last season I discovered Analog Heart and that was a huge revelation. Is there some more material floating around for Kris? If so, link please?

  • SparklesATL

Kris may be this season’s Jennifer Hudson/Daughtry. He might not walk off with the whole shebang, but what he will leave with is a future as a solid recording artist.

I think if you asked Daughtry if he wishes he won, he would be rolling on the floor laughing.

I think if you asked Jennifer Hudson if she feels cheated that she didn’t win she would hit you over the head with her Oscar.

  • star

I honestly think that Adam is kicking ass in the downloads dept on itunes, and that is why tptb are pushing him so hard. I don’t worry about what kind of music he’ll put out post-idol; if he wins, he’ll have people behind him to guide him in a specific musical direction, and really harness his talent. And he does record beautifully. As much as I hate Diane Warren’s music, she is an industry person and therefore should know what she’s talking about when she says Adam’s marketable.

Anoop – meh, but I thought the judges were too hard on him.
Megan – completely awful song choice.
Danny – most overpraised performance of the night. he was off-key and his phrasing was terrible.
Allison – not my fave performance from her, but it was good. I don’t get why the judges complained about her outfit. I hated her hair but the dress was cute.
Scott – boring but good for him I guess.
Matt – I knew the judges would give him crap for not staying in his assigned bluesy box. VLV all over again.
Lil – boring, do not care.
Adam – of all the songs in the world, why this? His vocal was awesome but gah. And I miss his emo hair!!
Kris – great job. He needs to start showing he can do something other than mellow in order to be a real contender, though.

  • tinawina

You can’t go by ranking for dial idol. You have to go by the color of the dot following their name and that range in the dot. According to them, Danny will place anywhere from 1-5, Kris from 1-6, Adam from 1-8, so he might pop up in the bottom 3 in theory. But all their dots are green, so they are not going home.

That was a long winded way to say Kris might be number 1 tonight. LOL.

  • hypertwink

I was watching HBO and they were showing previews for True Blood and in some angles, Kris Allen looks like Ryan Kwanten. Weird.

  • high5foradam

Is it just me or does anyone else think that Gokey is copying Adam in his dressing, especially this week? He suddenly is wearing more neck chains. Me not liking it.

  • allisonkrismatt

Just curious.. do most of you text or call when you vote?

  • ladymadonna

I tuned-in to be intrigued by Adam, and went away intrigued by Kris.

I simply want to like Adam more than I actually do. He’s different, no doubt. And technically his voice is incredibly impressive. But it doesn’t always sound good in my earholes, and I’m still having a really hard time warming-up to his mannered, self-aware stage presence. I’m still kind of rooting for him because I always like to see something a little subversive on the Idol stage. But tonight he didn’t interest me. His performance felt calculated to me, not artistic. Like he picked a campy, up-tempo novelty number solely to act as contrast to what he did last week. In the most wide-open theme this show has ever given the contestants, he really could have done something that would help define him musically. If that was it, I’m not sure he should win, no matter how many octaves he has or how masterfully he works the camera.

Tonight the stage belonged to Kris. He’s shown promise in past weeks, but tonight he gave a truly powerful performance – organic and heartfelt and real. If he hadn’t made the mistake of saying he was trying to have a moment, he would have had one. Gorgeous. Something about it reminded me of two of my favorite Idol performances of all-time: Bo’s ‘In a Dream’ and Cook’s ‘The World I Know.’ I don’t know – I need to watch it again and let it sink in. But yes, in my mind, much more interesting than Adam.

Otherwise…Allison has been one of the few bright spots for me this season and I would love to see her go far, but she needs to start picking up some momentum somehow. Anoop has a good voice and seems like a cool dude, but he has no musical identity. Danny and Lil are both horribly overrated – not just as contestants but as vocalists. Matt just doesn’t quite have it. Scott continues to be a champion of mediocrity. And Megan is just so bad I’m starting to wonder if she might somehow secretly be good.

  • kimberann

Danny is such idol material. I hope he wins. But I don’t think anyone can top David Cook as America’s Idol. :wub_tb:

  • bean99

Kris may be this seasonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Jennifer Hudson/Daughtry.

Nope, not for me. I don’t know about Jennifer but Chris D was strong from early on. Kris had the best performance he’s had but 1 week does not a season make.

I just wish the judges would see how biased they are toward Adam. I don’t mind when his performance deserves praise but this was a performance that should have gotten dissed and would have if anyone else had done it.

  • Suzanne

“I Surrender” is really not an old song – it came out in 2000. It’s the way that Lil sang it that made it sound old and outdated. Anthony Fedorov did a great version of it, so it’s possible to do it well. I wish judges would stop making excuses for Lil – it’s not her song choices, it’s her !

I completely agree…Ryan actually set him up….actually every week Ryan asks him some question that is almost setting him up for some cocky answer….I think Anoop should get the judges out of his head….

  • Miss Chaos

WhoTF is voting for Lil, she made my ears hurt so bad that I had to turn the sound down, and when they showed them at the end it was even worse. Go Adam, even tho I HATE that song. Kris, what a pleasant surprise, Loved it. The rest, yuck.

  • Suzanne

Why is Danny at the top over at DI? He did a good job, and it was far better than last week, but he wasn’t the best of the night. Adam and Kris are both more original than Danny and Adam, Kris and Alison are all better singers. Why are people so nuts for Danny?

  • http://absinthedreamers.blogspot.com/ Starrlight

Just watched Anoop. Kara looks like a tool with the whole frat boy comment. Good for him for basically telling her to shut it. I may be tossing a few votes his way just to spite Kara.

  • JNM

I thought Kris was really good! Will probably buy the song. The rest of the night? Ugh.

Adam was pretty entertaining in a crappy way, but the rest? No.

  • Dr. Tracey

The judges are not on the same planet as me, either that or the sound on my tv is WAY off because I didn’t agree with most of what they said.

Anoop – He wasn’t half as bad as they made him out to be, Simon’s headache comment was just outright nasty.

Meagan – AWFUL! I hope her ‘fans’ don’t let her down, she seems to think they won’t.

HokeyPIMPGokey – So much for the de-pimping, jeeeze could they be anymore obvious? Ughh it made me want to puke and NO sorry Gokey, everyone does not like Rascal Flats or whatever they are called. imo he sang worse than Anoop, that last note made my ears bleed, GO HOME!

Allison – Since when was this show called Project Runway? I thought they were judging the singing not the clothes. She deserved better, she didn’t sound as bad as she looked.

Scott – The best i’ve heard from him and better than Gokey but he just doesn’t do it for me.

Matt – He has a nice voice but he didn’t sound good singing that awful song. If he’s not bottom 3 again this week he should be.

Lil – Best i’ve heard her sound so far but not my thing and Ryan’s ‘the judges were hard on mommy’??? gmab puleeze, such blatant voter manipulation, ack!

Adam – Thank God for Adam. He’s making this season for me. I don’t like the screamy stuff but at least he’s entertaining and fun.

Kris – I flove that song and I was worried he would kill it for me but he didn’t. I really liked his rendition and imo he is outshining Matt.

Bottom 3, Meagan, Anoop (because of judges stupid comments only) and Matt.

  • SpenserJ

I’m not sure if that will even help. Assuming that a potential winner has good material, the machine will still make them record crap and make their post AI cd suck.

Just curious.. do most of you text or call when you vote?

I text. But, I don’t power vote – just a handful here and there. (Except last week, when I wanted Sarver to at least go down swinging).

Scottà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦.Billy Joel is my absolute favorite musician and you picked the sappiest , most boring song that even BJ refuses to sing anymore. Honesty is a much better song..IMHO.

LOL – I knew I didn’t even have to mention this, since you’d be along to do so :) Plus, Scott is not a very good singer.

The judges are not on the same planet as me, either that or the sound on my tv is WAY off because I didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t agree with most of what they said.

    My rankings.
    1) Kris – my favorite performance of the season so far.
    2) Matt – I know I’m seriously in the minority, but I loved it.
    3) Allison – guitar was kind of pointless, but good job.
    4) Adam – really good vocals, I didn’t like it at all though.
    5) Scott – way better than usual. still should be voted off.
    6) Anoop – disappointed. judges were way too harsh. Anoop, just stop trying to please everyone, especially the judges, okay?
    7) Danny – better than usual. still way pitchy. 8) Lil – boring. completely wrong song choice.
    9) Megan – great voice, doesn’t have a clue what to do with it.

If [Kris] hadnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t made the mistake of saying he was trying to have a moment, he would have had one.

Yeah. Looking back, I wish he hadn’t said that. At the same time, though, I think it was his way of acknowledging Simon’s advice from last week. Remember, the judges’ only criticism was that they wanted to see more self-confidence from Kris. And I think he definitely showed that self-confidence tonight, both in his video clip and in the performance itself. :)

i love Kris, and i thought he was stellar tonight, hes consistant, original and adorable. good combo.

i love allison. costume and all. and itd be nice to hear comments about, you know.. her voice?

    adore adam.

i like matts taste in music and im sure tonights performance is going to sound great recorded.

and i love anoop. i wish i could tell simon that this season gives me a headache. mainly Kara. and her useless comments and constant song suggestons. i LOL-ed at the ‘BROKEN RECORD’

  • Grammie Kari

That’s weird… I am getting continual busy signals at 11:20 PM for Anoop. Lines closed?

Too much swagger, Anoop, but I do think he has a better voice than Scott.

This is all confusing to me… Randy and Simon told Anoop (and Kris) not to be so nice. So, he picks an uptempo (wrong choice) song and tries to show confidence and people are not receptive to it. Poor guy cannot win, and the judges make it even worse.

Yes, Simon gives me a headache!

  • LK09

Most of them were pretty karaoke to me. Adam was entertaining, but I don’t like the screaming. Kris was fabulous. It was his best week. Danny and Scott- not as good as the judges said. It is pretty obvious they are trying to keep those two. Who will go? Probably Megan. Maybe Anoop.

  • JOJOSIE

Some folks may not know this but Adam is a singer/songwriter also. I personally think that ability is vastly overrated. Some great song are sung by folks that didn’t write them but it seems to be a current fad now that folks can only really feel songs they wrote or co-wrote. To me great singers don’t have to play an instrument or write music, or even be the best technical vocalist, they have something that touch you and like Kara says, gives you goosebumps and a good feeling.l

  • Jezco

Anoop — He has great vocals, but he almost seems a little lost. I feel like he changes things too much, but his look doesn’t really go with any of it . . . haha. The judges we definitely too hard on him.

Megan — Dang it, girl! Pick a good song, will ya? I still think that Rockin’ Robin fit her the best so far. She has such a unique tone and could definitely be great if she plays it right. Tonight, though . . .

Danny — Judges . . . lighten up on the sugar. I have a feeling that it wasn’t just my tv causing him to sound off tonight. I think that he COULD have been great on this song, but he just sounded pitchy and had some interesting phrasing going on . . . hmm . . .

Allison — This girl has a voice! I don’t love her, but if I had to pick her or Amanda Overby for my punked-out rocker chick, Allison would win hands down. I thought that the song worked great with her voice, but she’s just not my cup of tea.

Scott — His best performance by far. I liked him doing the song stripped down as it brought out less of the pitch problems and more of the purity of his voice. I wish more emotion was visible though . . . I can listen to him more easily than I can watch him . . .

Matt — Interesting. I don’t think it was as bad as the judges made it out to be, but I didn’t think that it was all that great, either. I just never know quite what to think about this guy . . .

Lil — No. Just no. There is no originality here! And the judges tell her to Mariah or something, but I think there would be too much comparison if she did that — at least she isn’t sounding like Celine Dion as she sings. I want some spunk from her. We know she has the chops, but she doesn’t do anything with them!

Adam — Ok. So I can’t get over the Rings of Fire from 2 weeks ago, so I’m not an Adam fan. And last week – well, don’t get me started. I’ll just say that this guy is filled to the bring with talent, but he’s not getting my vote. Sorry.

Kris — I LOVE HIM! He’s talented, he’s sweet, he’s current, he’s identifiable, he’s original and he’s true to himself. Isn’t that what we’re looking for her, people? Just saying. He was definitely the best of the night!

à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“I Surrenderà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ is really not an old song – it came out in 2000. Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s the way that Lil sang it that made it sound old and outdated. That was one of my first comments. I have heard Anthony’s version about a thousand times and Lil fell short of my expectations. I gotta admit one thing… seeing Randy with Lil’s little girl made me think he was more human. LOL!

I called in my votes for Anoop, but it wasn’t the whole 2 hours because the lines were shut early.

Adam = Steve Perry – No, not quite.
Adam = Steven Tyler – There you go!

  • http://absinthedreamers.blogspot.com/ Starrlight

Analog Heart is better than a whopping chunk of the top 100 albums =)

  • stelladallas

I liked Danny, Adam, and Kris the most tonight, although I thought Adam and Kris would choose more current songs. I thought that was the whole point of this week’s theme…to get the idols to choose current songs. Oh well. As for Danny, it is tough to do Rascal Flatts justice and capture the emotion, but I thought he did a fine job and could be a good recording artist.

As for Lil, you know you are in trouble when Anthony Fedorov’s performance of “Surrender” was far superior. It goes without saying that Kelly Clarkson’s version was also better. Comparisons are inevitable.

  • bambambam

Sorry, but Kris put 20 times too many notes into the simple ballad “Ain’t No Sunshine.”

Of course, he was lucky to follow Adam, who sings more notes than anyone on God’s green earth.

But if he’d opened the show with this, they would have called it what it was…horribly oversung. Fantasia haters would have been scraping themselves off the ceiling if she sang this song the way Kris did.

  • undercooked

Unless you are a total AI junkie, I seriously doubt most people are going to remember Taylor singing this song 3 years ago.

Agreed. Most people don’t care, really. As far as being current, Adam is probably more in tune at what’s out there than the most of the contestants as he goes clubbing in Hollywood.

I’m on the west coast. Allison is doing well. I like what she is wearing. She’s 16. That’s they way teens dress. I do think she probably needs to sing a ballad soon.

I also thought Anoop was better than the judges said.

Kris did one of my all-time favorite songs, and he absolutely killed it. Made it his own. I felt like I was watching David Cook 2.0

For me, it’s a threeway now with him, Allison & Adam. I’ll be happy if any of them win.

  • SpenserJ

I’m going to respectfully disagree (you know I love ya’ Sunchick!). I know it’s sacrelidge and all, but I don’t find Analog Heart to be a songwriting masterpiece at all. Not that Kris’s are either. They both kind of sound to me like inexperienced, young songwriters. I’d probably put them about equal.

    How I’d rank em:

    1. Kris: A
    2. Danny: B
    2. Matt: B-
    4. Lil: B-
    5. Adam: C (plus)
    5. Anoop: C (plus)
    5. Scott: C (plus)
    5. Allison: C (plus) The beginning was INCREDIBLE but once the chorus kicked it, she flopped, IMO
    9. Megan: C-

  • b1dev

    GO DANNY! GO KRIS!!

  • adamandeva

I think the worst tonight was once again, Kara. The audience HATED her tonight. It was so funny to watch. I really think she is becoming the least liked judge ever. Even Simon gets less boos now. haha.

  • chicksineggz

I didn’t even notice the moment thing, so it really didn’t bother me. I would call it a moment.

    General observations:
The quality of performances has really taken a dive. I guess the more choices the contestants have, the worse decisions they make.

  • pj

Voting ended for me after an 1 hour and 55 minutes. Ryan always says at least 2 hours. Why say that if it isnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t true?

The show ended 25 minutes after the hour, so voting ended at 25 after the second hour of voting, which was 10:25 central.

  • skylight1219

I think Kris was the best of the night. Allison wasn’t as bad as the judges said. Yes, her outfit was outrageous, but, she’s Allison.

God, I hate Adam. He screams and I just don’t get the love for him or Gokey.

Scott wasn’t that bad and why is Lil still relevant? I hate divas as much as I hate being screamed at.

Oh well, I haven’t voted yet this season and don’t intend to. Seasons 5 and 7 were the best. This year – meh! I don’t care who wins because I’m not into any of them.

  • undercooked

Scott looks good! I like the hair. He must have gotten new stylist this week.

  • idolrofan

Wow, I agree with “whomeverwassayingit”: what a weird, weird night. Ok, here are my thoughts:

Megan: I agree with the judges, with the right song (throwback style, Duffy or Weinhouse) she could be ok. But an artist should be able to shine with more than just one song/very strict type of song. She needs to go.

Danny – I seriously dislike him. I also feel the judges pimped him without reason. And now he’s #1 on DialIdol!! Seriously?!?!?

Allison – I like her and I thought she did a good job tonight, but I think Simon has really old-fashioned ideas about what a teenager should be. Look at Leona Lewis – don’t get me wrong, I like the girl, but in the X Factor she was this shy, understated persona. Simon cannot take OTT, and he cannot take a healthy adolescent rocker. And it shows, unfortunately for Allison, who is mad talented and has a great personality, too.

Lil – totally agree with other comments, she is NOT a belter. She should stop trying to be one.

Kris – Not my cup of tea, but yeah, he was good tonight. But is it just me or he is a little boring? And he needs to be good like this more consistently.

Adam – Adam, Adam, Adam… I am SUCH the Adam fanatic, but I HATE to admit, his performance tonight left me a little “huh”? Not a current song, a little too much “screaming” (although I love his screaming, but not for a disco-type song). It felt a little like he was playing a 70s “role,” after last week he played the 50s “role.” He is still my favorite though, and I do believe he can be an amazing recording artist with the right direction. I listened on YouTube to some of the songs he recorded before Idol, and they are really awesome. Also, he is an amazing performer, nobody can deny that.

  • pj

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m really impressed that you guys can remember an Anthony Federov performance. I didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t even remember his name LOL.

I remember him well, mostly because of my friend who got me watching Idol in the first place. He used to call him trache-boy.

  • PokeSmot

Danny was pretty good…nothing spectacular; not a “moment”, just really good.

Wow, judges, STFU!!!!! So, since they can’t find anything wrong with the performance, they’re going to rag on Allison’s clothes!!!!???? Grow the F*CK UP!! She’s one of the best of this season and these A-Holes are doing everything in their power to get her voted off!!! They make me sick :sick_ee: Where’s that damn barf emoticon when I need it??

AAAWWWW, Scotty, was actually better than the first two!!! I thought he sounded good. :thumbup_tb:

STFU Randy!! Scott was not better than Allison or Danny (uh, I threw up a little in my mouth saying that).

  • wjmtv

Scott is soo cute. I think he could do one of the commentary shows, like with Justin Whatsisname (sorry, Newbie here). Or maybe Slezak could bring him on his show. He’s so funny (Scott, that is. Not that Slezak isn’t funny too).

But seriously, I thought he sounded pretty damned good tonight. There are moments when his voice is the definition of “clear.” And I think he knows what he’s doing, whether it shows on the telly or not.

  • Grammie Kari

Allison is 16 years old, but she is a old soul, she reminds me of Janis Joplin. Alot.

Ziggy, I just read your comment and you are so right. Let me go one further before I get slammed. Allison could play the “young” Janis Joplin in the movie or Broadway show. Her pipes aren’t there yet, but I am picking up the same vibes you are.

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m really impressed that you guys can remember an Anthony Federov performance. I didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t even remember his name LOL.

SpenserJ, I will always remember Anthony and his glory note on this song. However, AI Rewind – Season 4 is on now!

Only an hour and 55 minutes, honest. I was voting for Allison when this happened, other people upthread were voting for Anoop. I also checked Matt’s number, it closed early as well.

  • nomi

As for Lil, you know you are in trouble when Anthony Fedorovà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s performance of à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Surrenderà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ was far superior. It goes without saying that Kelly Clarksonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s version was also better.

Heck, Archie’s “Surrender” as an 11-y-o Star Search contestant with flubbed lyrics (and lack of romantic experience) was better. Lil is a competent singer who will benefit from the lack of diva vote-splitting (can’t believe I just typed that…) but who brings nothing new. Not a thing.

The kids are cute, though. And the hair looked great on her. (The dress is another matter…)

Adam descended into caricature for me with tonight’s performance.

  • CathyMK

As usual, Adam, Allison and Kris were my favorites tonight. I don’t like Adam’s screamy performances as much as the lower key ones, but he’s still better than anyone else on the AI stage this year. And, his recording voice is absolutely beautiful. He’s smart and talented- I have no doubt that he has what it takes to be a successful recording artist.

I liked Allison’s outfit. I guess the judges haven’t paid attention to what outrageous outfits rock and pop stars have worn for years. Except, we’ve seen some outrageous outfits from Paula and Randy as well. Guess you’re not allowed to dress that way until you’re off AI. Anyway, I liked her song choice and vocal. I wish she had kept more of it slowed down in the beginning though. We haven’t heard her sing that way before, and it might have won more voters over.

Kris was amazing tonight. It’s so much fun watching him blossom. I’m starting to be torn between him and Adam for the win. I was a little worried when I saw Kris’ song choice. That’s such an old, tired song for me, but he really jazzed it up.

Anoop and Matt are so frustrating. They’re clearly very talented guys, but they just don’t seem to be able to pull it all together and have a breakout performance. I think time is running out for them. I’ll be really pissed if Megan, the talentless wonder, doesn’t go before them. I’d like to see that smug attitude of hers crushed. Please Megan fans, abandon her! Lil is just as clueless as Anoop and Matt. I think all 3 are listening to the judges’ conflicting advice too much, and picking songs that they like, rather than songs that fit their voice. They just don’t have a consistent, realistic, artistic vision of themselves.

I just can’t explain Danny’s popularity at all, beyond the ghoulish widower vote. His voice is not that great and he has a major attitude. I’ve never felt like Anoop, Matt, or Cook, for that matter were smug, but Danny just screams it to me.

Scott is a sweet guy, but a boring singer. He took a boring song and made it even more boring.

  • Trina

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m really impressed that you guys can remember an Anthony Federov performance. I didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t even remember his name LOL.

I remember his I Surrender performance too and it was amazing. I agree it beat the hell out of Lil’s.

  • PokeSmot

Wow, MATT that Sucked!! He can not sing The Fray!! Oh my gosh, was Randy just coherent and on point??? Is the sky falling???!!!

I don’t know this Celine song….and, I don’t think I want to know this Celine song. Man, is it me or does this season SUCK??!! Okay, Lil, that better than most of the performers before you.

Dear TPTB, please, please, please, you need to hold SONG CHOICE 101, if you want to save your show, cuz these people do not learn…song choice, song choice, song choice. :doh_tb: Aw, did they just pimp Lil with her kids (cuz they are soooo cute!!!!)

  • Grammie Kari

Danny just hits me the wrong way. Getting out of the room didn’t make him sound better. Sorry, Danny fans.

  • Danica_K

Anoop and Matt are so frustrating. Theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re clearly very talented guys, but they just donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t seem to be able to pull it all together and have a breakout performance. I think time is running out for them. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll be really pissed if Megan, the talentless wonder, doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t go before them.

Bot of these guys have the talent to do really well in this competition. But the judges keep a constant barrage of conflicing advice coming at them and I think they don’t know what to do now.

And tonight, neither Matt nor Anoop came off as arrogant to me. They both looked fed the hell up. And rightly so.

If Megan and Scott outlast Anoop and Matt, this show is dead to me.

  • NOLA

Congrats to Kris for a great performance!

I’m going out on a limb and predicting that Allison will be eliminated tomorrow night. She is sucking the bottom on DialIdol and tonight wasn’t her greatest performance. America just doesn’t like her, for some reason.

Should she get the boot, I don’t see the judges saving her. They will save it in case Danny needs it.

  • smilepretty

I thought Kris was great tonight, he is growing in popularity every week i think. I doesn’t hurt that he is a cutie either. I actually liked Allison’s outfit too eventhough the judges didn’t lol.

  • flyaway

Okay, so why didn’t one of the judges just tell Anoop, “Look you’re taking votes away from Danny and we’ve all stated that the final two will be Danny and Adam, so we’re going to do everything we possibly can to make sure you go home. We’ll give Danny extra air time, we’ll give Kris the best slot and you the worst and if you fans keep voting for you, we’ll work extra hard to ask you questions that will make you sound less likable”.

Geez. Wonder how Danny got his 5th choice last week? Hard to imagine 4 other idols taking his songs.

Loved the comment about Scott singing the same song last week. Although think it was his best week and would be wrong to send him home on that performance.

Megan was bad, Lil was boring, Allison sounded just like last week, Matt was nervous, Adam was screechy. Definitely will not be buying tour tickets this year.

  • tinawina

So, anyone else think this was reallyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦.please will a bunch of you sing these tired old songs weà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve had cleared before so we donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t have to spend a crapload of money to clear new ones, pretty pleaseà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦.week? No wonder they werenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t advertising the theme.

    heh. true dat.

What I don’t get is… what’s so hard to grasp about the concept that THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO BE CURRENT. This week was a freebie… show us the record you’d make and how you’d fit into today’s music. Only a few of them even tried. Ugh.

That said, good for Matt for at least trying to have integrity and stick with his true passion. He clearly is interested in rock-ish stuff. I wanted to slap Paula(?) when she was like “make up your mind”, Dude… you’re the one who told him he couldn’t do what he wanted! Instead of pointing him toward soul-infested rock songs, y’all told him to be Justin Timberlake. HELLO. HE DOES NOT WANT TO BE JUSTIN. The most helpful thing that happened was that Randy told him songs like Apologize work better for him and why. That’s what you should have told the boy in the first damn place. And I’m not even a fan of his.

Kris does seem like he’d make a great record. But for the Mraz-ish genre, he would need some songwriting chops. I hope he has some.

  • undercooked

The quality of performances has really taken a dive. I guess the more choices the contestants have, the worse decisions they make.

So true. I recall last season, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ended up being a train wreck for alot of the contestants. “Hungry Like The Wolf,” “I Shot the Sheriff, etc. ” Also no mentor for either one of these weeks. Maybe the mentors help more than we think? I also agree with the poster who said the probably don’t have clearance for most of the songs on ITunes. They probably have 20 songs on the list and that’s it.

  • AnoopFan

I also thought Anoop was better than the judges said.

He totally was! I just rewatched his performance, and I loved it!
Anoop needs to realize that he will never win the judges over. He needs to sing for HIMSELF. Screw the judges!!! Seriously!!

  • bean99

I think Anoop should give up on trying to please the judges because it’s obvious he’s become fodder to the producers. He’d be far better off to just relax and pick good songs. He clearly seemed frustrated tonight.

  • http://absinthedreamers.blogspot.com/ Starrlight

Ok, Adam for the F’in win =)

  • NOLA

I thought Anoop sang well; but his movements were extremely karioke. He has always been my fav, with Adam a close second.

  • nomi

Anoop is this year’s Chikiezie with less competition.

  • dante

Adam is still my fav although I wasn’t crazy about his song choice tonight. I do think he has a fantastic recording voice and can sing ANYTHING and could be a big seller.

Kris is my second fav and is improving by leaps and bounds each week – so fun to watch him.

I also liked Allison and Danny.

The others did nothing for me.

Adam is the only one I would pay to go see.

Lots of bad song choices tonight.

Please let it be Megan going home!!!!!!!

  • star

Fwiw over on TWoP they are saying Adam had to make another last minute song switch. So, I guess I can forgive him for making such a wtf selection.

  • dante

star – that makes me feel better – I was so surprised that Adam picked that song.

  • abbysee

I hated this loosey goosey category. It made absolutely no sense. It might as well have been sing whatever the hell bad song you want to sing.

Too many people are going for manufactured moments and if it doesn’t happen organically it looks desperate. Yep I am talking to you Lil, and Matt. Danny got away with it because there was so much suckage tonight. He can sing, he just doesn’t cater to his strengths. It’s alright for now. It will be addressed in the next few weeks. I loved Allison but the outfit was distracting. Sorta like Minnie mouse before the Ritalin. Scott was okay tonight. I want Megan gone, she’s just ridiculous. I prefered Taylor’s PTFM, but I adore Adam, so I will give him a pass. It was a’ight for me.

    My rankings

Kris (the falsetto at the end sorta ruined it a bit for me, but still really good, oh and dropping the s at the end of some words gets me, and the side of face singing too, but his arrangement was awesome)
Allison (she must learn how to enunciate, it sorta bugs me)
Adam (silly choice, but possible brilliant tactical move)

Anoop, vocally he was good, but what the problem to me is that this is a performance song, and if you don’t perform it, it seems a bit lackluster no matter how good the vocals are

Danny, he needs to run or something because he runs out of breath too easily and just can’t wait to get to the big finish, he’s gotta learn to do better on this, the pimping always helps)
Lil, why the fuck did she sing this song? It wasn’t horrible sonically for me, but just insulting on so many levels, she has no clue as to how to pick songs, for the record, the judges especially Kara aren’t giving her the best advice either.

Scott, god luv him, he’s just adorable, but this isn’t a cute baby contest…..he did sorta have one real pretty moment vocally, best on him for sure

    Matt, ‘sigh’

    Megan, ‘double sigh’

  • Cakenbake

    In order of appearance.

Anoop – It was just OK, not as good as his previous week. I was thinking this was going to be his week and pick just the right song, but I think he picked the wrong song. A lot of times it is about the song choice. His reply to the judges should have been better and to me it didn’t sound right.

Megan – She has not brought it at all in a couple of weeks and if she stays she will have to do way better. She is picking the wrong songs and not singing them right.

Danny – Was better than the other two previous singers, but did get shouty in some parts. He did good this week though. He should stick to Country and he could be a good Country artist.

Allison – I love her. She is always consistent, but this week a little too slow for me, but she is always great. I hope she stays in the competition and not voted off before some of the subpar singing contestants.

Scott – I agree that this has been his best week, but still not up to par to the rest of singers on the show. Scott has not changed his singing style. I am glad Scott updated his appearance to make him appear contemporary.

Matt – I disagree with the judges. I liked Matt tonight. I am glad he changed and showed that he could sing others songs besides soul and R/B. he showed that he could sing other types of songs besides R/B. I think Matt did an excellent job. I think he did a good performance.

Lil – She sang it great, but it was a little boring. The song choice was very old fashion and not contemporary. Lil is picking songs that are too old and slow, but her little girl and her crying helped, because it touched me.

Adam – Was good this week, not as great as last week. I think I enjoy Adam’s soft side a little better. He touched my heart last week. I will say that Adam can change songs and works it out. I do think Adam goes a little bit too high, but I love the energy that he brings to the show every week, after week. Adam makes the show exciting and fun to watch.

Kris – Very memorable too me. Kris picked the right song and I loved that song. Kris showed his artistry and I didn’t know he played the piano? Kris surprised me. He showed this week that he can also play keyboards, besides the guitar. Kris showed he is a musician besides a singer. He also showed that he has a great singing voice. He is also very attractive and easy going. Good job. The best tonight IMO.

  • PokeSmot

WOW, Adam…Shout Out to Rickey and the Band…that is a true gentleman. I did not like the beginning, but, damn, Adam BROUGHT IT at the end!!!! And, he gave PROPS to the Band!! :thumbup_tb:

Kris totally deserved that pimp spot!!! He is bringin the HAWT, MAD VOCALS!!

Okay, for me, I’m ranking them:

    1) Kris
    2) Allison / Adam
    4) Danny
    5) Scott
    6) Lil
    7) Matt
    8) Megan
    9) Anoop

I’m off to VOTE for my top 3…catch y’all on the rebound.

Peace Out & Poke Smot :smoke_tb:

  • flicker

I love Matt, I just can’t help it. I thought that was an incredibly sexy performance. I think he brings the most raw sexual energy, probably second only to Adam. I loved what he did with that song.

At least the judges aren’t pimping Matt, so I take comfort in that. But they were off-base in their criticism, I thought.

  • hardkandy

What kind of a theme is this anyway! So weird!

  • dulce

Fwiw over on TWoP they are saying Adam had to make another last minute song switch. So, I guess I can forgive him for making such a wtf selection.

I think they all have to “switch” at some point. I don’t think Adam needs excuses for anything. He hardly seems apologetic about what he did and I don’t he should be. He’s at that place where Anoop and Matt need to get. He really could care LESS about what people think. He’s being himself and I think for him, even if he were to have the bus run over him at some point (and that day may come), I think he’d be OK…because he’s past that point where he needs that gratification to know that this is where he should be. He already knows what he wants.

Unfortunately for contestants like Anoop who don’t come from that place where music is everything, there are other “options”…grad school, a real job, a real life, the white picket fence blah blah blah. And I think for those types of contestants, they come on the show wanting to do well, but in the back of their minds, they are still one foot out the door, just in case it doesn’t work out. Well…to win this show…you can’t be concerned with losing. You can’t be concerned with what three people on a judging panel say. You have to be the player that goes all in each and every time, the cards in the deck be damned. This is the player Lambert is. This is why he is fun to watch. This is why, to me, I think he has the best chance of winning this show: because there is no other option. And this is also why Anoop is fighting a losing battle (but my fifty or so votes towards his cause are trying to say otherwise :) ).

  • colette

I don’t know if I missed it on the 450 previous messages I can’t stay up all night reading, but I thought Adam’s version of “Play That Funky Music” was way, way behind Taylor’s.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rF-891fLbs0

They never give Taylor credit for a dang thing, so no wonder they didn’t mention that amazing performance where he just tore the place apart and wound up tumbling to the floor in his psychedelic-paisley shirt and cowboy boots! It felt much more spontaneous and in the zone than Adam’s screech-a-thon.

    Sigh.

  • cacity87

    I loved Matt tonight.

His performance was the only performance tonight that could stand out in the real world. Go Matt. Do your thing…you’ll be outselling them all a year from now.

    Best to Worst

    1. Allison– This girl is FABULOUS. The outfit was fine (do the judges NOT know what people like Lady GaGa and Katy Perry are wearing these days??) Also, how could the judges call her out on shouting and not point out Danny’s shout-fest before? My favorite performance of the night.

    2. Kris– I love how he’s just flourishing in this competition and enjoying every moment of it. He’s convinced me over and over again that he’s not just a pretty face…he also has a great voice. I think he’s headed into the Top 3.

    3. Scott– Seems like he has performed this many times before. Gosh, how patronizing can Paula be? Ugh.

    4. Anoop– It was ok. I hated his attitude during the comments though; he lost a little bit of his likability for me then.

    5. Adam– Adam can sing. We all knew that. Problem is, he sings the same screamy way every single time (except for last week), and I don’t dig screamy Adam. What we didn’t know is if can be current. I don’t think this song helped place him on the map of today’s popular music.

    6. Matt– He’s completely over-thinking everything. I was going to vote for him after last week’s bottom 3 scare, but I don’t think taking my time to vote for a performance like that is justified. The nerves are KILLING him, and obviously, he can’t deliver under the stresses of the competition. Well, at least this was better than Viva la Vida.

    7. Lil- Zzzzz. If I had my way, I’d replace her with Syesha. Or Vonzell.

    8. Danny– I thought he shouted throughout the whole song. The emotion was definitely there, but the vocals were painful to listen to. I had to turn down the volume.

    9. Megan– This girl needs to go. She can’t sing. Period.

  • tinawina

I am still pissed at them for picking songs they “love” instead of songs that really truly could be singles for them. Megan, I’m looking at you. Anoop… sang it well but he can’t pull off the sexy. At least not that brand of sexy. You don’t need that kind of R&B. Lil- seriously Lil- you are the WORST song picker EVER. Dated and boring. Sing some damn Keisha Cole already. Hell, I’ll take Beyonce at this point. Adam it was interesting, but really dude? That is not what you would record. Allison tried and she sounded good, but I think she should have kept it more acoustic sounding. That would have helped it sound fresh. Scott? It was nice and sleepy and all, but COME ON DUDE. This is not AC idol. We have enough of those. Matt tried but he needed a different kind of rock song. Danny – were you trying to be R&B or were you trying to be country? Kris nailed it.

I’m so done with these people.

    General Comments
    —————-

    1. This is the stupidest theme since “Songs Gwen Likes”. How do they qualify top downloads? Basically, it was any song you want to sing. So why call it “Top Downloads”?

    2. I call total bullsh!t on “Play that Funky Music White Boy” being a “Top Download”. One has to be using a pretty loose definition of “Top” to get that old chesnut in. Has it ever been in the Top 50 downloads? It didn’t make it the week Taylor sang it (the last time I remember it being featured anywhere). I hope it charts this week because I want to see it’s totals next week. I’d be very surprised if there have been significant downloads at all. Way to make a complete mockery of the theme, producers.

    3. “Just the Way You Are”? “Top Download”? Get out of here. It came out in 1977. It’s not one of those perinnial favourites like “Living on a Prayer” or “Don’t Stop Believing”. Well, at least it’s a more recent song than PTFMWB and “Ain’t No Sunshine”.

    Performance Comments
    ——————–

    1. Anoop – “Caught Up” – This song started out as a hot mess, but clicked more near the end. This song is not a good choice for the competition because the melody is too choppy. This didn’t quite work out. Neither did the jacket. Note to the back-up singers: You are supposed to sing harmony. Not random noises. (5/10)

    2. Megan – “Turns Your Light Down Low” – Did she just get back from a Mardi Gras Party? Whatever. She has no range. She is completely incapabable of phrasing a song with any cohesion. She so doesn’t understand the concept of music. Her singing is the equivalent of trying to speak a foreign language phonetically. She might have done better if she could have totally copied somebody in her range (steal their phrasing and emphasis). Randy is totally right. You should sing songs you can sing. Not just one you like. Please, America, send her home. She sucks (1/10)

    3. Danny – “What Hurts The Most” – I see they got a prettier violin player after Simon harshed on the guy last year. Something seems to go wrong when he goes to belt. Perhaps he’s not supporting the note enough. This is another song with a messy melodic line and it’s not working for me. I usually think Danny is a tool, but he sings well. Tonight, I just couldn’t get into it. That said, he seemed earnest. (6/10).

    4. Allison – “Don’t Speak” – Why does the stylist hate her? I think EW was a week early compiling their Idol Worst Dressed List. This song started out brilliantly and fell apart in the middle with a few good notes on the end. She seemed to be bottoming out in her range or something on the chorus. When Randy comments on your dress, you know you are in trouble. (6/10).

    5. Scott – “Just the Way You Are” – If Scott doesn’t go soon, he’s going to be bald. The Idol stylists keep triming his hair progressively shorter. Actually, it’s the first time it looked good. His singing? Seriously off-key. You’ve had your make-over. You can go home too. (2/10)

    6. Matt – “You Found Me” – You know, getting out from behind the piano doesn’t mean putting the piano in the audience. That was weird. The song started out a little weak, did well in the middle and the falsetto didn’t work. I thought the judge’s comments were a bit harsh. He should have played to his strengths this week. He could be in trouble (7/10).

    7. Lil – “I Surrender” – Celine? Seriously? Lil, when are you going to learn that you are not a power diva? She has a nice voice, she just needs to aim for Rihanna and leave the Whitney/Celine/etc. alone. She did alright. Pimpees get to have their kids save them. (6/10)

    8. Adam – “Play that Funky Music White Boy” – Adam should stick with stealing arrangements from others, because he doesn’t know how to make a song sound current. That sounded total Princess Cruise Line Lounge – Theatre version. Or SNL skit mocking AI contestants trying to make a song hip and ending up in the cheesy category. Guy has crazy range, but that arrangement was terrible. Blah. (7/10)

    9. Kris – “Ain’t No Sunshine” – So, this week, he wants to wow us? Maybe he should aim for that every week. Now, Adam, this is how you make a song current. This is something that could be on the radio. Very well done. Nice ending. (9/10)

    Who Should Go Home: Megan
Who Will go Home: Probably Matt. Maybe Anoop (but he has a fan base).
Worst Performance of the Night: The producers. Stick the stupid non-theme in your ear.

I only watched Kris, Allison, Matt and Adam’s performances from MJs and Rickey’s and i don’t think i need to watch anyone else’s to determine that Kris and Allison are still my top 2!

Kris is consistently good. So are Allison and Adam and to the extent, Danny, but the difference is that Kris started out as an underdog, he didn’t peak so early, but he’s improving every week. so he’s consistently improving. he’s the real deal. he’s an artist. he knows who he is as an artist, he stays true to himself. and he’s talented and versatile. he makes an old song sounds current, and he can sing behind guitar, piano and without any instruments and are good at all of them. He sings with such strong conviction and passion everytime, and has an emotional connection to the songs he sang. He’s definitely the dark horse, and he deserves more pimping from the judges and top 2/3 spot. He was the best of the night!

Allison was good too, but her Don’t Speak performance, sad to say, she didn’t bring anything new to it. sounds a bit karaoke, but i love her voice, and she should be the last girl standing, outlasting Megan and Lil. Can’t believe that Lil is ahead of her in DI. Allison’s fans have got to start voting like crazy for her!

Adam… i had high expectations for him this week, but he’s opposite of Kris. instead of sounding current for the theme week, he sounds like 80s rock and roll. oh well, he will still be staying though. Some weeks, i can tolerate his voice, some weeks i can’t stand his voice. this week is the latter for me.

Matt was just horrible horrible horrible. He thought he can connect to the audience by singing on the pit audience, but he didn’t connect with the home audience. Kris outplayed and outsings him, IMO, Kris didn’t sing on the pit audience, and yet he connects more with the audience.

Kris did one of my all-time favorite songs, and he absolutely killed it. Made it his own. I felt like I was watching David Cook 2.0

For me, ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a threeway now with him, Allison & Adam. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll be happy if any of them win.

Totally agree. Although Cook and Kris are totally different as artists, they have that same skill at being able to change up a song to their style, and also the room to grow. Love them.

  • AnoopFan

I think Anoop should give up on trying to please the judges because ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s obvious heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s become fodder to the producers. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d be far better off to just relax and pick good songs. He clearly seemed frustrated tonight.

Yep, he knows exactly what they are doing to him and he’s getting sick of it. I dont blame him for how he acted tonight at all.

Kris impressed me with his musicality and Danny made me cry. My favorite, Adam, confused and disappointed me.

Kris had a breakout moment and he deserves all the praise and pimping coming his way.

Danny’s heartfelt rendition of What Hurts the Most reminded me one of my favorite AI performances ever — Bucky Covington’s underrated Best I Ever Had.

Adam’s selection stumped me as he has been so smart about song choice since top 36. Play That Funky Music was not special in any of the ways I’ve come to expect of Adam. In fact, it seemed like a random pick — the opposite of a smart choice. He already did the tempo changes and bluesy rock better on Satisfaction. I loved Bandzilla’s arrangement of Anoop’s Caught Up, but their accompaniment of Play That Funky Music was ruined by the frenetic drum rolls, which were just jarring.

I fear that Adam wasted an important opportunity this week to reveal another facet of his talent — and I don’t mean his mastery of the funky chicken, although that made me wish it was 1977 and I could go disco dancing with him. I don’t know what other songs were available, but David Bowie’s Station to Station was an awesome disco-influenced album if Adam feels such an affinity for the era.

    Heavy sigh.

  • BootStar

    Adam and Kris were awesome.
    Allison was very good.
    Everybody else … SUCKED!!!!

WTH, were we even getting the same sound the judges were? I’ve never heard so much off-key singing in one show. Horrible!

And did Kris not just give the very performance that everybody has been expecting Matt to give?

Kara, Studio 54 or Heinz 57? Because, seriously, you have issues with numbers!

  • listen

WHY did Adam pick that song? Ick. He’s still my favorite person on AI this season, but really, that song was not a good choice, at all.
Adam, you had soooo many to choose from and that is what you came up with? See, it is choices like that, that makes me want to rethink our relationship….

Kris was really good, but ya know, he sounds like all the other guys that play the piano and sing. I mean he is way better than Scott, but Kris still sounds like soooo many others.

Can’t believe Gokey is #1 on Dial Idol.. What is the rest of America seeing that I am not?

Here’s hoping Adam picks better next week.

  • PokeSmot

Dial Idol has Allison second to last…this is so wrong :glurps_tb: I want to blame America, but, I can’t.

I knew the reason I had stayed away from Idol for seven years was cuz the show was not geared towards the music I favored. So I really only have myself to blame….Self, you suck!!! Stop watching this dumb show, cuz, it’s only going to break your heart and leave you pissed the hell off!!! :furious_tb:

Okay, if y’all like Allison, even just a little, please pick up your phone and give her a vote. :help_tb: I’d really appreciate it…and, really, I have to say it….y’alls have nice hair!!

    :smoke_tb:

  • Jlyn

If Adam did have a last minute song change maybe that was why he gave a shout out to the band… for helping him put something together quickly.

Add me to the list of those who are entertained by Adam, Allison, and Kris. The rest are a blurry meh with an additional huh? for Megan.

  • Diana

I’m not getting the theme. If this is supposed to be current, why did half of them pick songs that are decades old?

I liked Matt a lot tonight, though I’m not a big fan. Thought the judges were totally wrong about his performance. Gonna throw him a few votes.

Lil Rounds was a complete disaster. She was off key the entire time, and SCREAMING. Painful. I couldn’t wait for that one to end.

Kara keeps getting worse — bet they wish they could dump her right now!

  • Dlynne

Is it just me, or do the contestants not seem as polite this year?

No, it’s not just you. I see it, too. I can’t handle the excuses either. We all know that they don’t have as much control over what they sing and that it isn’t always fair but it just comes off as whining.

  • adamandeva

“Unfortunately for contestants like Anoop who donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t come from that place where music is everything, there are other à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“optionsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦grad school, a real job, a real life, the white picket fence blah blah blah. And I think for those types of contestants, they come on the show wanting to do well, but in the back of their minds, they are still one foot out the door, just in case it doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t work out. Wellà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦to win this showà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦you canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t be concerned with losing. You canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t be concerned with what three people on a judging panel say. You have to be the player that goes all in each and every time, the cards in the deck be damned. This is the player Lambert is. This is why he is fun to watch. This is why, to me, I think he has the best chance of winning this show: because there is no other option.”

bravo, dulce. Loved your comments on Adam. Totally Agree!

  • tinawina

Is it just me, or do the contestants not seem as polite this year?

Simon complained about them being polite last year, said they were boring when they didn’t talk back. So you can bet they are being encouraged to “speak up” this year.

  • Tatiana

Studio 57…Bouahahahaaa! Kara is so lame. Every time she tries to throw out a pithy line, she messes it up. She adds nothing to the show and needs to go!!

  • weelassie

now that was a strange night. It seems to always happen when the contestants have the most latitude, they pick the worst songs.

Anoop-meh. He seems like a great guy but he tries to be sexy and to me, he just isn’t but I like him.

Megan-you are a beautiful lady. You are on the wrong show, it shouldn’t be a stage but a runway. gorgeous but can’t really sing.

Allison-hope the squirrel in your hair found it’s family and is back in the nest. I like her but would like to hear her tone it down and change it up a bit. And this is a true question……….is she wearing a wig or is that real hair? Kinda reminds me of a darker shade of cotton candy.

Matt-please, why do you slobber all over the mic? yuck, how germy is that? I never understood why some singers do that……..anyone know? His stylist should let the scissors slip and cut that thing off of his forehead. It will hurt him that he is below average in the looks department. Song was meh. You may be in danger.

Danny-I would love to see him break out some safety glasses or a scuba mask. lol. Honestly, I don’t like or dislike him but this song was pretty nice. He has one track and sticks to it so it should be getting really good by now.

Scott-his best so far. It was a very nice vocal and I think he deserves to stay a little longer……..at least one more week.

Lil-eek. She is in a rut. Time for something different. Alexis was so much better to me. Lil is not a belter……..belter wannabe.

Adam-holy batcrap batman. I love Adam but that was weird. He is crazy talented but last week was stellar and tonight was different. He keeps me tuning in though. He gets an A plus for anticipation and showmanship. The song wasn’t my favorite but you did one thing tonight that warms my heart…
