From VFTW:

Will we be spared the inevitable Whitney Houston "Bodyguard" soundtrack shlock from Lil Rounds? While we want to discourage her from picking something boring since she's the frontrunner as the next VFTW pick, we also know she clearly cannot hit the notes in those songs and will be referred to as a copycat again, making her even angrier than before.

She is, indeed, "the worst". ymmv.

Didn't I mention that was the 2nd criteria?

It is exactly because there is no one else left. You can count out TCO - Danny, Adam, Lil.

Take away Allison and Kris who only until recently had a trainwreck. They always stayed in their mould and generally don't do anything polarizing or say controversial comments.

You get Matt and Anoop. Goatey voice or "Beat It/Caught Up" side of Anoop.

You ask who is cheesy, crazy, act funny, outrageous and hard for 19 to market?
I pose that same question back to you about which of the remaining contestants fulfill those criteria?

Outrageously OTT - Adam? Not so soon. Not until the finale when we oppose Danny altogether.

Outrageously bad - Lil? Maybe, since they started throwing her under the bus. But really? Choosing one of TCOs?

Hard to market - That's actually Danny but since they are pimping him, ymmv.

Crazy - none
Act funny - none
Cheesy - At times Danny. But that is NEVER going to happen. VFTW is never going to go behind him.

So what other criteria can you think of now, other than the one that I mentioned?

lovecert I explained it here:

That is why they picked persons like Sanjaya, Tatiana Del Toro, Scott Savol and Kevin Covais. Because those contestants would be à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹diffcultà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ and hard to be marketable for 19E.

One of the first picks ever for VFTW was Scott Savol and Kevin "Chicken Little" Covais. They believed that these two would be hard for 19E to market. So they backed them and successfully got them to the next round. Scott beat out Constantine which was a big coup for them and made them a major force in Idol history. That was one of their best victories. Then they were successful in getting people behind Sanjaya and got him past better singers. Which made them even more famous and a major website.

They pick contestants who are the 'worst' singers, who would be difficult for 19E to market, who are chessy, who are crazy, who act funny, who are outrageous, and would be hard for 19E.

Now which one does Anoop fit in the above description? None that I know of. Sorry I like Anoop personally, but I don't think that would be a smart move for Anoop to be VFTW's pick.

Actully there was no pimpage of Kris early on, until his performance of "Ain't No Sunshine" when the producers realized there was potential for that. Because before that Kris was flying under the wire. The judges were pushing Lil, Gokey and Adam, but then realized that there was a lot backfire on the internet with Gokey, a lot was unjustified but it was there. Lil has underperformed and has not met their expectations. Allison, who I love, who the show also pushed was now in danger of being voted off. So the producers had to focus now on this guy named Kris Allen who was flying under their wire and giving great performances every week.

Kris was the underdog who came out of the blue and now as a fanbase.

And as for poor Anoop, yes VFTW considered voting for him, but they considered his apology as 'wimping out', which it really wasn't, but they weren't thinking of voting for him because of his reply to the judges. They were running out of the 'worst' contestants and he was just next in line.

and as for this:

And I do believe there are lots of really nice guys on the show who would not be difficult to work with. Kris certainly seems a nice guy, but hasnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t cornered the market on being nice, humble, or likeable.

Well according to Paula Kris Allen has been one of the most likable contestants they have had on their show. She said that this week on the show. Kara said that Kris has helped out the other contestants with their songs and practice. An EW writer says that Kris and Allison are the persons who encourage the other contestants on the show. Both Kris/Allison clap and give out the loudest cheers for the others on the show when she has been attending and watching the Live shows. When Simon harshly judged Kris he smiled and nodded and listened intently. Even the stage manger hugs Kris when he walks off the stage after his performance. The EW writer has never seen the stage manger do that before for the years she has gone to the Live shows to write about them.

So according to Paula and Kara Kris thus far has pretty much cornered that market on the show this season. Not that there other nice persons on the show.

lol. Sorry, but I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think that is how that website works.

I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think VFTW was thinking of picking Anoop because of his à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹courageà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢. They pick contestants because they consider them the à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“worstà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ . That is why they call themselves à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Vote For The Worstà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ . I believe that website picks who would be the most à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹unsuccessfulà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ to market by 19E and then vote for that person to undermine American Idol.

I wouldnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t take it as a compliment if they picked my favorites Adam, Allison or Kris. That is just how I would see it.

Yes. It is vote for the "worst". But out of all of them, can you pick a definite worst so far?

They all had their ups and downs and so we move on the 2nd criteria which is if they satisfy playing the devil's advocate against the producers and being a suitable mascot for VFTW. Megan was perfect for being quirky and her don't-give-a-damn Cawing.

Tatiana was definitely not the worst vocalist from Group 1 but she was a great mascot because she was entertaining and attention-seeking.

To me, if Anoop didn't apologize and instead went for the "I was completely right" route and continued arguing against the judges, he would have been the next pick.

Actually, no.

VFTW determine their pick based on a number of things. Sometimes it's the worst performer/singer. Sometimes it's someone who might be good, but is no TCO and will piss the producers off for sticking around too long. Sometimes it's someone with okay talent, but has a genuine f-you attitude toward the judges and will talk back/make a scene. Sometimes they'll vote form someone really good when it gets down to the nitty gritty, just to try and keep TCO from winning.

And thanks for your in depth analysis of Kris and his pimpage by producers. I had sort of figured that out. Unfortunately sarcasm doesn't translate well to text. :)

And I do believe there are lots of really nice guys on the show who would not be difficult to work with. Kris certainly seems a nice guy, but hasn't cornered the market on being nice, humble, or likeable.

I wonder how close the race is between Gokey and Adam? I know that at first Goeky was beating everyone, but I am sure that now Adam is probably leading the pack.

Anyway, someone was asking who VTFW would have chosen. Last week, I thought Anoop was an obvious choice since he had the à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹courageà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ to talk back to the judges. However he apologized this week, so all bets are off.

I know lots of Kris fans feel like he doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t get much love, but dudeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s been featured in every pimpmercial and every group number. *sighs* And I like Kris, but seriously?

That is easy to answer.

For years American Idol tween/young adult viewers has not increased as the show wanted, but older viewers now make up the majority of the Idol viewers. Idol producers said they want to bring in younger viewers and that is why Lady GaGa and Flo Rida have appeared. Besides Lady GaGa and Flo Rida being introduced to a potentially new audience Idol also gets more young adult/tween viewers who know those artists and will tune in to watch.

If they put Kris Allen in "pimpmercial" tweens/young adults watching the Idol commercials will see Kris and would tune in too watch. My pre-teen nieces, who are not frequent Idol viewers saw Kris on the commercials and now LOVE him and are now voting for him like crazy. Yet they never saw his first performances.

Looks, besides talent help a contestant and Idol producers know that if they if put a "pretty face" out in front they will get more young viewers. IMO Kris has both of those qualities. Plus being a very sweet humble guy, which is even more of a plus. Kris is not only 'cute' to many, but is an extremly talented singer and musician.

Young people are very visual and let's face it too many young adults/tweens they see Kris as very attractive even though many of the older viewers don't.

Plus Kris plays the guitar and is very boyish which is an attraction to the younger audience.

That is why to the music industry Kris Allen would be very marketable and current. Plus according to Paula and Kara very likable and works well with others. He would not be a "difficult" artist like many in the music business have been.

Hope that answers your question.

If they put Kris Allen in “pimpmercial” tweens/young adults watching the Idol commercials will see Kris and would tune in too watch. My pre-teen nieces, who are not frequent Idol viewers saw Kris on the commercials and now LOVE him and are now voting for him like crazy. Yet they never saw his first performances.

Looks, besides talent help a contestant and Idol producers know that if they if put a “pretty face” out in front they will get more young viewers. IMO Kris has both of those qualities. Plus being a very sweet humble guy, which is even more of a plus. Kris is not only ‘cute’ to many, but is an extremly talented singer and musician.

Young people are very visual and let’s face it too many young adults/tweens they see Kris as very attractive even though many of the older viewers don’t.

Plus Kris plays the guitar and is very boyish which is an attraction to the younger audience.

Woohoo!!!!!

Hi youse guys. It's been months since I posted. Just getting into the groove of things.

Sooo...I'm glad to know that I'm not alone. I thought I was the WAY underdog, but I LOVE KRIS.

Really all the guys are good and Adam is the most inventive of the lot (which certainly helped my Cookie).

Anoop is underrated in terms of talent, but in terms of his competitive edge vs. the other guys, he's he weakest singer right now to me, although he's good. Lil? Time to go, gurlfriend -- you haven't gotten it done.

Allison? Meh. Danny -- I wanna like him more, but it's a Kris/Adam thing for me. I think Kris cuz I think he needs the win more. Adam? He's already soaring.

I took a look at the number of iTunes reviews for this week. No surprise that Adam (223) is in the lead by a good distance. But Allison (41) and Anoop (37) are neck and neck for the 2nd and 3rd place. After that, ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Matt (27) and Danny (27), with Kris (15), Lil (14) taking up the rear. Interesting to me, since that order was pretty much the same as I ranked the showà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s performances.

I don't agree. I don't think the number of reviews mean anything. Some of the idols just have more online fans that are more rabid or vocal. I definetly bought Matt's song this week but haven't left a review. Hell I never write a review for any of the songs I purchase on itunes. I figure my buying the song is support enough.

"In the end, ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s not about whoà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s cutest, friendliest or even most dynamic. Hopefully, the votes will reflect the artistà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s ability to move us to actually purchase a CD, and since we have no other evidence to go on, the number of reviews is as good a indication as any. When the iTunes songs become available, I listen to all of them, and decide which ones Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m likely to enjoy on repeat listening. Sometimes my choices donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t match up with my votes. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve noticed that sometimes the live performances just havenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t translated well to the studio, and vice versa. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve primarily chosen Anoopà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s studio recordings because I love the treatment he gives his songs with his smooth, warm tones. He might be subtler than the show usually rewards, and therefore sliding under folks radars, but I think he has alot more quiet support than you might think. And seeing him undeservedly in the bottom 2 this week, might just wake up some of his supporters enough to keep him on the show for at least a couple more weeks. Of course, it all comes down to the performances - hopefully."

YES! I never vote based on who is cute or sexy. I vote if I would purchase their CD or watch them in concert.
I'm going to sound like a broken record, but the only AI winners I liked were Cook & Clarkson.
I would never buy a Gokey, Kris, Lil, or Scott CD.
I love listening to Matt & Anoop.
I think Adam is very talented, but I cannot get over the "Broadway" singing.
I think Adam has a beautiful voice, personality, and is a great performer. However, I really can't get excited about him. I don't know why???
I'm getting too old.
Adam will be successful with or w/out AI.
I'm not worried about him.

I've noticed that on a show like American Idol, the smart, university-educated guys, like Anoop and David Cook before him, get a bad rap as being somehow cocky and arrogant. Since this show encourages snap judgments, it becomes a bandwagon type effect where one look or statement gets blown way out of proportion. For whatever reason, the show has decided to make Anoop its whipping boy. Since he clearly wears his emotions right out there for all to see, they've seemingly decided that watching him squirm and look outright dejected is good for ratings. Sick, if you ask me.

And even though many have bought into the judges comments that lead one to believe that Anoop is on borrowed time on the show, I wouldn't be too sure of that. The facts as I see it are that Anoop has never had a bad performance although he has gotten alot of grief from the judges about his upbeat performances. I would argue that they weren't nearly as bad as the stamp placed upon them. When you consider that both Danny and Lil have had way worse performances that never received more than tepid critiques, you get a sense of the spin going on here. And I do not like being spun.

"Anoop did not deserve to be in the bottom 2, based on his performance, and this article shows that the quips he has recieved about being arrogant are not deserved. I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t care how great or poorly he does next week, Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m "

Each of them in turn has helped Scott around that stage, in the same manner as Anoop last night, I will miss Scotts sweet spirit and kind spirit, a spirit that I have not found or felt in Anoop but maybe the next few weeks will prove me wrong. I have changed my mind about Matt so stranger things can happen?

This is a quote from EW's elimination night on the scene article

The finalists' performance of Can't Get You Out of My Head was largely forgettable, except for what it revealed to me about Scott. I've never really paid attention to how this legally blind performer has gotten around stage (is someone guiding him or is he's holding on to someone else?) Tonight, however, the question was answered: Anoop was serving as Scott's sight buddy, and my heart cracked a bit when I saw him gently and patiently assisting Scott around the floor like he was a beloved older brother. Sorry if it reads corny but I was moved, man, just moved. So it was with even heavier heart that I watched poor Anoop slide into one of those bar seats when Ryan broke the bottom three news. Though he seemed relatively unaffected on camera, Anoop looked almost despondent at the break and never once cracked a smile. By the time Lil Rounds and Scott joined him on the stools, the mood was positively glum: Lil held her hands between her legs and kept her head down, while Anoop stared into space with that sad and empty look.
