Scott MacIntyre is eliminated.   The judges decide not to save him.

34 million votes were cast last night…

Flo-rida and   Kellie Pickler perform tonight…

Ryan introduces Frankie Avalon–that   song was at the top of the charts the year Simon was born. Then…surprise!   Frankie appears to sing the song live.   Simon, born in 1959, is old. Ha ha.   Frankie has seen better days.

The group song comes from the year Idol was born 2002- “Can’t get you out of my head” -Wow. That was bad.   Hilariously so. I can’t tell if they were lip syncing or not, if they were, that was pretty sad.

It’s the behind the scenes of making the Ford commercial – It’s a magic show. Adam loves acting! Kris does not. Scott and Adam imitate Simon. Ha ha. The commercial itself is actually kinda cool. The song is Britney Spears “Circus”.

Before the results, Ryan asks Adam Lambert what he thought of Simon’s standing O. Adam says he felt extremely honored and thanks Simon.   Shout out to the mayor of Kalamazoo, MI from Matt Giraud.

More Idol Headlines after the JUMP…

Adam Lambert, Kris Allen and Anoop Desai stand up.   The judges are given the chance to praise Adam even more. Some big pimpin here.

Flo-rida sings his hit song “Right Round.”   Wow, metaphors about oral sex!   Just perfect for the kiddies!

Back from break, and it’s time for more results Danny Gokey stands up and he is SAFE.   Matt Giraud stands up and he is SAFE. Scott MacIntyre stands up and he is in the Bottom 3.   Allsion Iraheta and Lil Rounds stand up. Allison is safe Lil is in the Bottom 3.

Simon says there are a couple of people–one in particular–they would consider saving.

Kellie Pickler is here, singing “Best Days of Your Life”   She’s a little pitchy!   Hot dress–like her hair. She’s serenading her BF Simon. Oh wait, now she’s cheating on Simon with Randy… Gah. I remember why she came in 6th.   She’s not a good live singer.   Better than Taylor Swift, at least.

Ryan says he is sending someone back to the couches, then says, “Anoop…(pause)…stay where you are…Lil you are safe.” Mean!

Only 30K votes separate the Bottom 2: Anoop Desai and Scott MacIntyre

Back from break, Ryan eliminates Scott MacIntyre.   He has a chance to sing for his life.   The judges are pretending to actually consider a save for Scott!   He’s singing his heart out.   EEP.   He’s trying hard, but it still really sucks.   Simon looks sour.

Simon says that two of the panel thinks he should stay, and two thinks he should go.   Ugh. He was terrible. He should go.   Simon says it’s really tough.   Paula and Kara are the two that are pushing for the save.   But Simon says, “Somebody has to make a decision, and the answer is no.”

Scott MacIntyre is eliminated. The judges decide not to save him.   LOL Paula begins babbling on about how Scott is an inspiration to the entire world.   Paula Abdul–patronizing until the bitter end!

Safe:

Adam Lambert
Kris Allen
Danny Gokey
Matt Giraud
Allison Iraheta
Lil Rounds
Anoop Desai

Bottom 3:

Anoop Desai
Scott MacIntyre
Lil Rounds

  • lizland

He goes well with Flo Rida and Pickler. Quite the sampler plate tonight.

  • Valentin432

    LOL, Frankie Avalon.

I didn’t hate the group singing, mostly because of the Adam and Allison action

  • Michelle

Wow, they sure have some time to fill tonight :D

  • Victoria

Oh wow, Frankie Avalon! Is it weird that I’m 15 and I think he’s awesome?

  • SashaB

OMG. This is such a WTF show. Okay I thought Flo Rida and Kellie Pickler would be a bit odd, but Frankie Avalon??! Bwah!

  • lefty

No idea why, but I loved seeing Frankie Avalon.

  • Michelle

lmao…this group sing is pretty bad…maybe they skipped the lipsyncing tonight.

  • wordnerdarchie

What! They’re not lip-synching the group number?

  • aly

my goodness, what a painful group sing

  • SparklesATL

Why don’t they just get rid of these crappy performers and cut the show to 30 minutes?

I guess that’s just too much to ask since no one would watch anything but the last 5 minutes and that would kill their ratings.

Oooooh! I know! I know!! What if they expanded the Tuesday night show to 1 1/2 hours and did the kick-off at the beginning of the show? Then there wouldn’t be the need for 2 shows!

Imagine the look on their little faces getting booted off the show after preparing all week for their performance!! Su-weeet!

  • rayni

Oh geez – my ears, my ears! This group song – someone is sooo grossly flat. But Allision and Matt’s solos were awesome. And Alllison and Adam were great in the Ford commercial – the rest – eh, not so much.

  • Victoria

Okay, I’m pretty sure that was lipsynched (thank you, Lil and Scott), and it was STILL awful.

  • Skylark

That Frankie Avalon was the sweetest moment of S8 so far.

  • nad

I loved the Frankie Avalon moment!!! but wow that group sing was bad….

  • Tony

Frankie Avalon? Never heard of him. =p

  • Tracy

What a terrible group sing. YIKES!

And I didn’t even recognize Frankie Avalon. I’m so embarassed with myself.

  • kiwifan

    Worse group sing evah!

  • dreamr

That song sucks. I hated it when it came out back then and I hated this version, too. They definitely could have picked a much better song from that year. Bleh.

LOL @ Simon saying he was born in ’69 instead of ’59. XD

  • Soulkaren

    1969 Simon?

    Really?

    hahahahaha

    Good try!

  • gabam

Well, they’re not lip-syncing. Yay! They sucked. LOL.

The stylist this year must be new. Very few of the kids wear anything that is not ugly and/or not suited for the song being sung. Maybe the kids just have bad taste in clothing this year. *sigh*

  • Dr. Tracey

Frankie Avalon was a nice surprise! The group number was crap.
I wish I could change my pool pick to Lil :(

  • Lys

Lol. Maybe they should go back to lipsynching.

  • Michelle

That can’t have been lipsynced. Unless the soundguys just hate everyone this week.

  • SparklesATL

Is it me or does Frankie look like William Shatner?

  • cherie

Wow that was bad. Now I know why they usually lip-synk

  • dvls

Now that’s what the group numbers are supposed to sound like! Crappy yes, but no over-processed studio pre-recorded lip synching! Yay! My favorite group sing of the season!LOL!

  • Michelle

LOL they stole Lady Gaga’s eye thing.

  • Victoria

^ Lady GaGa stole Adam Ant, Dale Bozzio (sp?), and Bowie’s eye things… I love her though :)

    CIRCUS! XP

But I’m not loving the Idol version.

  • Michelle

    Here we go………

    OMG whew

  • dreamr

Could they possibly spend any more time praising Adam? I mean, seriously. UGH.

  • rayni

    Kris is safe! Woo hoo!

  • roshleo

    yeah kris is safe!!!

  • Tony

YES! Kris is safe! Hopefully Scott goes home. I hope Anoop is safe, too.

  • Duke

And there go my points. FML

  • lovecert

OMFG. KRIS IS SAFE!!! We did it people. Faith in humanity is restored.

  • Michelle

Okay, this means they are doing a fake bottom three :/

  • soccerboi

    Yay…Kris!

  • nad

this sucks….I really hope he stays another week…

  • seasonseven

Ugh. It makes me so sad that Anoop is in the bottom three. He was so much better than a lot of people last night. :(

  • Lys

I understand why they’d want to give Adam more comment-time. That’s only fair. But, they didn’t really say anything helpful – it was just overkill, IMO.

Yes, Kris is safe!!!!! I can breathe now…. Gah.

  • kiwifan

Wow, Anoop did not deserve the bottom 3. Am convinced he is going home. Damn!

I think they were making up for the fact that Adam didn’t get a full critique last night

  • susie

Whoa…last night was the first time I voted for two solid hours. Kris just didn’t deserve to go home! (I hope Anoop doesn’t go home though either!)

  • Skylark

    Florida commercial lol.

  • yeahyeahsure

    Aw poor Anoop but…

    KRIS IS SAFE!!!! WOOHOO!!!

    :clap_tb:

  • savgal

WOOO-HOOOO! Kris is safe! God bless all those textin’ fans!
But – Anoop is mad talented. Could he be the one to get the save?

  • Victoria

So happy for Kris! Wow, I can’t believe he’s not even B3! That’s a relief!

  • Gary Seven

    Kris is safe!! Yay!

  • kiwifan

Okay, this means they are doing a fake bottom three :/

Oh, how I hope you’re right!

  • Victoria

Ugh, this song is AWFUL. And what’s with the dancers at the judges table? Yuck.

  • widz

    NOOOO!

Anoop was one of the best last night! UGH!

  • Michelle

Guess it’s time to admit I’m invested….gah powervoting is exhausting though!

  • Dr. Tracey

Did Ryan say how many votes there were yet?

  • Gary Seven

Since the judges all praised Anoop on the show last night, will they save him if he gets eliminated?

  • Cakenbake

Kris safe? I am in a different time zone…yay!

Dial Idol doesn’t include text votes which is how most ‘tweens’ vote.

I believe that Kris has more tweens voters than some of the other contestants.

  • yeahyeahsure

Ugh Idol why are you doing this?! Flo-Rida?! REALLY?! REALLY?!

  • soccerboi

This Flo rida song is such a rip off…Dead or Alive sang it much better,,,well they actually sang…

  • AZIdolFan

thank you east coast. i just wanted to make sure kris was safe. now i can relax. i really hope anoop is safe but i’m not anxious like i was for kris. :)

  • Skylark

    Nice family entertainment!

  • Dr. Tracey

I can’t understand a word of what this person is singing.

  • karaokequeen

West Coaster here, waiting anxiously…Kris and Anoop are my pets this season. I voted for both of them last night, but way more for Kris. Now I’m a little worried other people with similar sympathies might have done the same thing, and Anoop might be out as a result…sort of like the David Cook/Michael Johns thing last year. I hope not! I don’t want either of them to go. Please can we get rid of Lil already? And Scott? (although at least Scott cracks me up.) And I wouldn’t miss Gokey either, though I don’t hate him.

  • nad

Let’s replace Anoop with Flo-rida in the bottom 3….and I like this song…:(

  • hollygo9

KRIS IS SAFE! Thank you, America, for restoring my faith.

  • rayni

Flor Rida – whut evah. I can’t understand anything he sayin’ – but it has a good beat. I give it an 80.

  • Soulkaren

Think Frankie is passing out backstage?

  • jammasta

What the hell, Kris is safe? SWEET! Anoop in the bottom 3? NOOO!

But it’s amazing that my 700 votes helped! SWEET! Man, I am close to crying manly tears.

  • Michelle

Sigh, this is why I quit listening to Top 40

  • Victoria

I thought confetti was reserved for winners. *pouts*

LOL, why were the judges sitting under the table?!

  • Jx223

Poor Anoop. I feel very sorry for him. He does not deserve to be in the bottom three this week, let alone go home. But I fear that he will.

  • dulce

I voted for both of them last night, but way more for Kris. Now Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m a little worried other people with similar sympathies might have done the same thing, and Anoop might be out as resultà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦sort of like the David Cook/Michael Johns thing last year.

Uhh…that’s exactly why Anoop will probably be going home tonight. It sucks but they are splitting votes. I might actually get all my points this week.

  • Trina

Holy shit! I’m no tween but I texted till my fingers bled!

  • Duke

Did Flo Rider just cuss? Nice man. Reaaal tacky. Why are there rappers on AI anyways?!

  • garlandk77

When Adam was speaking with Ryan, I’m disappointed he didn’t credit Gary Jules with creating that special arrangement of the “Mad World” song. A news story today said Gary was hoping Adam would mention it.

  • Dr. Tracey

Ugghhh a song about pole dancing, lovely, don’t think i’ll be checking out that tour…….actually.

  • Skylark

I think it was taped? That’s usually when you don’t see the judges.

  • seasonseven

I actually like Kris, but I can’t help but feel angry. :( Why, America, why?

I understand that Anoop hasn’t been brilliant in past weeks, but he does NOT deserve to be in the bottom three tonight.

  • soccerboi

Hmm…this is a family show yes? Im no prude…BUT..i can hear daddys all over America hearing from their 10 yr old…
“Daddy, what does he mean he makes your head spin right round when you go downtown?”

Well honey they are talking about oral sex…over your ears!

  • dulce

I understand that Anoop hasnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t been brilliant in past weeks, but he does NOT deserve to be in the bottom three tonight.

He’s been “not good” on only 2 weeks: the two weeks he went uptempo. Those are the weeks he hit the bottom 3. I agree…doesn’t deserve to be there AT ALL. IMO, Lil Rounds should have hit the seal ages ago, but it’s not gonna happen. Kind of sucks, but for Kris/Matt (either of them) to have a chance, the vote splitting needs to stop, and 2 of them need to jump ship sooner rather than later. My guess…Matt will go after Anoop and then Kris will be left of the R/B boys to make a run at the title (which appears to already belong to Adam lambert)

  • nad

Anoop better be the 1st one sent back to the couches…..

  • Victoria

    Ugghhh a song about pole dancing, lovely, donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll be checking out that tourà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦.actually.

Heh. It’s not exactly about pole dancing. Real family-friendly, Idol. Way to go.

Hmm… maybe we will get Lil Rounds in the B3 tonight?

  • Michelle

so at least one girl in bottom 3. Hope it’s Lil…

  • http://www.flickr.com/photos/blue65pv544/ bobg

would Flo Rida ever had made the top 13???

  • kiwifan

Definitely think it’s Anoop as he, Kris and Matt are splitting votes and they are both safe. Nooo!

  • Madcap Jester

Every time I see Gokey’s name under the SAFE heading, my soul dies a little more inside . . . .

  • Victoria

Yay Allison! And FINALLY Lil is B3!

ETA: No, Simon, don’t save Lil!

  • Lys

Whoa, LIL is finally in the bottom!!! *does happy dance*

  • rayni

Yay!!!!! Allison is safe! Now I don’t care who goes home. Whew.

  • lizland

If it’s Lil I still don’t think they will use the save. She hasn’t earned it.

  • Michelle

    Allison is safe!!!

  • dulce

HA!! At least Lil made bottom 3. This is ridiculous.

  • http://everyopinion.blogspot.com Terrie

    Michelle Apr 8th, 2009 at 9:29 pm

Sigh, this is why I quit listening to Top 40

Me, too — in 1969. But, hey, solidarity and all that good stuff.

I think the Florida Attorney General should sue.

  • Tracy

    SOOOOO glad Allison’s safe!

  • kiwifan

Oh and both Scott & Lil were ahead of Anoop.

Who do you think the “one in particular” they would consider? Lil?

  • nad

I hope Simon will save Anoop….although I hope it never gets to that point!!

  • minzhi

Based on last night’s performance, Kris should be in the Bottom 3. But he has done well all these while, and it will be a travesty if he is booted like what dialidol predicted. So yes, I am glad he has pulled through this week! Kris must pick the right song next week, and get his momentum going again.

GREAT!! Lil is finally bottom 3. She did not do well at all since Top 13. Anoop did not deserve to be there though, he did well last night. Scott should go home, because he was really bad last night.

  • Valentin432

    So happy Allison is safe!!!
Finally Lil is in the B3, never thought we would see the day.

I really hope they would not consider saving Lil seriously (I don’t think it will come to that but still)

  • Cakenbake

I actually like Kris, but I canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t help but feel angry.

seasonseven, I think most viewers don’t go week by week they add up the total of performances and decide not based on ONE bad week. Kris has had nothing but great/or good previous performances until this week. Last week Kris had one of the most memorable performances with “Ain’t No Sunshine”. Good performances add up. That is what saved Adam when he did his “Ring Of Fire”, which I loved, but many people didn’t. If a contestant is mostly great/good most people see that and give them another chance.

If people got voted off for having one “off” week after always being consistent then some of the other singers should have gone home a loooooong time ago. Then I would be angry.

If Kris had been consisently off and on, then I would understand, but in fact this was the first time that Kris picked the wrong song, meanwhile others have done that half of the time they have been on the show.

    Hope that makes sense?

  • barefootgirl

I agree they’re not going to use the save tonight.

  • soccerboi

I dont think they are going to have to use it…Scott is going home…at least I can SEE this coming!

  • CathyMK

Okay, no more tension tonight for me- Adam, Allison, and Kris are safe. Nice to be able to relax and enjoy the rest of the show.

I think that the judges won’t save Scott and might save Lil or Anoop. Anoop deserves the save more than Lil. He’s shown way more of an ability to improve.

  • Dr. Tracey

Good to see Lil the artist in the bottom 3 finally.
I don’t think they will save Anoop but I hope they don’t save her either, it would be a waste, she’s not going to win.

  • dulce

Oh and both Scott & Lil were ahead of Anoop

On DI? Well, seeing as Kris is “safe” and all of them were ahead of him on that site, I think it’s safe to say that we don’t know who is going home. It’ll come down to texts. Anoop voters probably are more of the texting type, but this one will be close to call.

  • haruhi

lil in bottom 3! she still hasn’t delivered and people are getting tired waiting.

  • hollygo9

I actually like Kris, but I canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t help but feel angry. :( Why, America, why?

    It’s not Kris’s fault. I blame Gokey.

  • Dr. Tracey

At least I get points for Scott being bottom LOL

  • Michelle

Lil or Scott can go. I think they are fudging “bottom 3″ to keep Kris out. Sucks for Anoop though, hope they call him safe first.

  • karaokequeen

Well, I hope if it’s Lil they don’t use the save, (1) because she doesn’t deserve it, and (2) because it would mean they’d have to get rid of 2 next week…and it would break my heart if both Kris and Anoop were eliminated in one fell swoop. Which, you know, could happen. I need at least one of them to make it to top 5.

  • Victoria

Aww Kellie :) She looks pretty, and I love this song!

  • Niall

I put all my pool points on Kris but I’m still glad to see the wee little man is safe. Hopefully it’s Scott or Lil and not Anoop going home.

  • jammasta

I’m glad that Lil is in the Bottom 3, for her sake. She’s still one of my top 5 this season, maybe this will give her the hint she needs to get back into the game. She started off Season 8 GREATLY. Audition, I Will Always Love You (a bit off, though), Be Without You, and The Way You Make Me Feel were some of my favorite performances this season. It’s so sad that after that she began to bomb. I like her more than I like Allison because Lil is my type of musician. The OBVIOUS problem is that she’s not even DOING that type of music. She hasn’t shown herself as much of an artist. An excellent vocalist, but I’m sure she could do more R&B. How many freaking times is Randy gonna have to say Mary J. Blige/Keyshia Cole? She CAN sound like them. Why doesn’t she? Randy and Simon were on last night. They said she could sing, but she hasn’t proved it lately.

If Anoop goes, I think he’ll be the save. Scott should really be the one going. To be honest, Scott has VFTW, and Anoop has teen girls AND a good voice. Who should win? Anoop. Lil gets the votes for being the R&B diva of the season (although she admittedly isn’t up to ranks with others, but she’s getting a bit too much hate here).

  • cookcricket

Ugh! Do you think Simon was referring to Lil? I guess Scott and Anoop should guess it’s not them since they’ve both been in the bottom three before and Simon said up until now it really didn’t matter.

So happy Kris is safe!!!! He’s been consistant most weeks, esp. with his vocals.

  • barefootgirl

Based on cumulative performances, I think that’s the right bottom 3.
I hope Anoop is safe, then I don’t care who leaves. Except for my pool points.

  • garlandk77

Ouch, Kellie is not doing herself justice tonite.

  • Dr. Tracey

    Kelly sounds horrible.

  • lizland

Did they just show Simon checking out Kellie’s boobs?

  • Cakenbake

Lil has not been consistent and even Simon said that she has underperformed since they put in the competition before the voting started.

  • Duke

    Kelly- please stop singing.

  • nad

Trade Kellie for Anoop also in the bottom 3….so sad when the best performance of the nite was Frankie Avalon…

  • Skylark

Where does all her confidence come from haha.

  • Niall

Another Pickler performance? Who is this girl blowing in the AI executive office to get this many appearances?!

  • gabam

I did not like the opening of Kellie’s song. The chorus is good. The ending is better than the beginning of the song.

She looks pretty. Glad that she’s back. She’s been back each year since she left. Good for her.

  • maracaibo

Yay! Matty G is SAFE. I am so happy!
He totally deserved it.. Best of the night for me followed by Adam.

Go Matty. He was so funny tonight.

  • Cakenbake

    Based on cumulative performances,

Those “off” weeks add up to the viewers and work against the contestant.

  • Michelle

Ouch. That was pretty bad. I like how she flirts with Simon though :)

    Lil is safe?!

This better be Scott going home. Anoop did good last night.

  • Victoria

LOL “Does that mean I have to go now?”

NO, LIL IS SAFE?! Ugh, this is such a fak B3 anyway (I think).

  • wordnerdarchie

Kellie actually got to sing live during the show and not pre-taped? Wow, AI must just luv her.

  • rayni

Darn darn darn. Lil is safe.

  • onherthize

Its cut one of the protected classes night

  • holeighannie

UGH, put Lil in the bottom 2! Anoop so doesn’t deserve this again. Scott better go home.

  • minzhi

Yah Kellie sounds bad. Oh dear Lil is safe.

  • dreamr

Well, it’s down to Anoop and Scott. Dang. I was hoping Lil would go home. XD

But I’m okay with Scott going, too. Or Anoop.

Heck, as long as my two favorites (Allison & Kris) are safe, I don’t care who goes. lol

  • Tony

Wake up call for Lil. Time to get better.

  • Niall

My theory on Lil is she had a buffer that carried her through several bad weeks simply because she had been so wildly promoted prior to the Top 13. People had been conditioned by the judges to believe she was great. Week after week of bad performances eroded her voting bloc to the point that she is now going to need a break through performance to survive another week.

  • Dr. Tracey

    Oh Nooooooooo not Anooooooooop :(

    please let it be Scott.

  • yeahyeahsure

Heh, I thought Kellie was awesome! :clap_tb:

  • Cakenbake

Now we will see if VFTW votes upset the outcome?

  • SashaB

Wow, Kellie can be much much better than that. Much better. I think she got winded running back and forth. She should’ve just stayed put. She’s adorable though. She finally looks young or her age. Got rid of the Marilyn Monroe look.

  • nad

How is this happening….I mean really Anoop had 2 not so good performances versus Lil’s 4!!!!

  • dulce

I really really hate this show. I always say that I’m never ever going to watch again, but I always do. Gross…Lil gets to go back. Ugh…I’m gonna be right about the lowest voter. Damn.

  • karaokequeen

Oh no, please not Anoop. Or please save him if it is.

  • Michelle

I am still on a cloud of happy that Kris didn’t even make bottom 3. Or Allison! though I wasn’t so worried for her. :)

I dunno if it’s fake bottom 3/2 anymore…Ryan actually said the words “bottom 2″.

    Come on Anoop…

  • Cakenbake

I wonder if the “spat” with the judges last week had a bad effect on Anoop with the causul viewers/voters?

  • jammasta

Oh yeah, Ryan is being a jerk to Anoop! Just like he came off as being IN LOVE with David Archuleta a few times last season. Creepy.

  • garlandk77

Kellie should fire her managers. They should never have let her sing live. Smart managers insist on taped performances so that a do-over is possible if the first performance is poor.

  • Victoria

    30,000? Wow.

    Phew, it’s Scott.

No way are they daving him.

  • lizland

    Excellent decision, America!

  • Lys

    YES!!!!!

My faith in the voting public is officially restored. At least until next week.

ETA: Scott actually sounds pretty good. I was impressed.

  • Duke

    yeahyeahsure
    Apr 8th, 2009 at 9:50 pm
Heh, I thought Kellie was awesome!

Did you have the sound on?…that might have made a difference.

  • kiwifan

    THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • soccerboi

    Yay! thank you Lord Jesus…

  • nad

oh man thank god Anoop is safe!!!!

  • haruhi

Lil was sent back…hope its not anoop. if it is him, i’m hoping to see the judges’ save in action.

  • Duke

Wait! No guitar tonight?!?!?! awww rats.

  • barefootgirl

Damn that was close. I had a weird feeling that it would be Scott when Ryan screwed with Anoop (again) to save Lil.

  • Michelle

Man, I feel horrid cheering against Scott :/

Sing it, kid! He’s doing better w/o the guitar.

  • minzhi

The right decision America. But Scott has been a fighter in this competition, but it is still a competition, and he should be on fair grounds with the rest. So his time is up this week. Good luck Scott.

  • Tony

Put Anoop on suicide watch! lol

  • tinawina

Yay! More pool points for me!

    Oh. Sorry Scott. :blush_tb:

  • lizland

Scott seems like a really great guy. But his time is so up on this show.

  • Jx223

I am so glad that Anoop’s fans saved him. Only 30,000 votes separated himj and Scott. Wow. That is the power of text votes.

  • Cakenbake

OK who has been in the bottom 3 so far?

    Lil once

Matt once or twice? I can’t remember?

Allison has been in the bottom 3 twice

    Scott twice or three times?

How many times has Anoop been in the bottom 3?

  • Victoria

This is ridiculous. Simon won’t REALLY do it, will he?

ETA: Oh, they didn’t save him. Phew! Nice guy, good piano player, not right for AI.

  • Lys

This is painful…. Stupid judges – can’t they just spit it out already?

  • barefootgirl

Oh they are so full of it. They were never going to save him. They just can’t be cruel to Scott.

  • soccerboi

They could not have seriously been considering saving him…ugggghh

  • Michelle

Ugh, that was terrible. Way to torture the guy on the way out.

  • dreamr

Whew. I was thinking they might save him there for a few minutes. I was like nuuuuuues! Allison might need it next week! *Kicks America for not voting for her like they should*

    XD

  • cstutor89

Anoop was in the bottom twice. Once tonight and once last week (bottom 2 with Megan).

  • Duke

Why do they fake these guys out? Everyone and their dog knew Scott would not be saved. oh brother, this judges save is fucking stupid.

  • s0x_prisoner

holy crap, i lost so many points in all of my pools today. i was 8th on the EW pool but i probably only got like, 2 points today for that… damn.

  • nad

Ok Anoop fans can we please power vote for Anoop next week!!! He can’t stay over Lil!!

  • lizland

More patronizing commentary from Paula. It’s obnoxious.

  • Trina

Wow that was mean :( They couldn’t have just been polite off the bat and just said they weren’t going to use the save on him? That was really cruel.

  • Tony

I GOT ALL THE POOL POINTS! :clap_tb:

  • minzhi

That was so FAKE! We know they were never gonna save poor Scott. This “save” pretense is getting irritating.

  • Nedsdag

So much for Vote For the Worst.

  • haruhi

I will miss scott’s humor, but i’m relieved he got the boot.

  • Madcap Jester

Huh. I’m pretty surprised that the gap between Anoop and Scott was so small, especially since Anoop was quite good last night and Scott was terrible. This does not bode well for Anoop, sad to say.

  • Michelle

So text votes saved the soul boys. I still can’t believe Kris wasn’t bottom 3. Or Matt, for that matter.

  • weelassie

ok, i have tears. He is a classy guy. Scott should be proud of himself. Way to go Scott. Awesome job and the song sounded way better tonight.

  • dulce

Ok Anoop fans can we please power vote for Anoop next week!!!

Damn. I might actually have to vote next week. I usually reserve it for the finale (like when I texted in about 900 votes for David Cook last year because Simon pissed me off). That being said…holy crap. That vote split is NASTY. GOod news is my favorite is safe. Bad news is that I lost all my points in the pool.

Those results aren’t so surprising. I mean, for one, Kris was largely thought to have had a BAD night ala. David Cook with Innocent last season. Since Kris is splitting votes with Anoop/Matt, it’s likely that their collective fans, who may have been more oh “fair” with their voting in the past, went in droves to save Kris. Matt did well and so did Anoop, but with all the casual votes going to Adam Lambert, it’s likely all the soul boys had between them was their own legion of fans. It must be a big legion. It’s kept them all afloat this long even when they are largely extremely inconsistent.

Next week, Anoop’s only hope will be to a) do well again and b) hope that neither Matt or Kris tanks. If one of the soul boys tanks big time, Anoop can stamp his goodbye card. Oh…and BTW, they are so gonna use him as the “choose the right side” person. Grossness.

  • Victoria

I’m glad they still have the save for Allison. She might need it. Okay, now Lil just have to leave and then I can enjoy the season!

  • kiwifan

Did you have the sound on?à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦that might have made a difference.

    Hilarious!

I was thinking the same thing when they were “deliberating” over saving Scott.

  • leome

It was Scott’s time to leave. He didn’t have the voice for this competition, most of all, he was very old fashioned, but he had some really good things going on for him and he was always a great fighter. I always loved the emotion he put in each performance.
    Anyway, right decision.

  • Soulkaren

    Well, I for one, appreciate Paula’s words…

Scott has accomplished more than I have in my life – and good for him.

  • hpman247

Many people call it fake. I read people really well and I don’t think they we’re faking it. I pretty much knew it was no changing Simon’s decision for the NO, but i honestly got from their expressions that he felt bad about it. Kara and Paula wanted him saved

  • Skylark

In the context of the cruel judges save, they made an effort to not totally dismiss Scott by saying it was a tie. Clearly it was not, but at least gave him some props.

  • Lys

So much for Vote For the Worst.

Lol. No kidding – it’s two weeks in a row now that their pick’s been voted off. Wonder who they’ll choose now?

  • jz

    There goes my pool points….

But I’m happy to say I think America got it 100% right!
So, major kudos to the voters. :]

ETA: Actually, make that 95% right. Lil should have been lower than Anoop IMO.

  • Caffiend

Good job, America. The right guy went home, and Allison was one of the top 5 vote-getters. I can sleep tonight.

  • CathyMK

Aw, I’ll miss Scott. He’s absolutely the right person to go home this week, but I’ll miss his sense of humor and unflappability. He needs to hook up with a sultry girl singer and create a duo with him playing piano, singing back up, and bantering with the singer and the audience. I think he’d be a favorite local act doing that kind of thing.

  • Nedsdag

Ok Anoop fans can we please power vote for Anoop next week!!!

I’m an Anoop fan but it really doesn’t matter. Adam has this thing in the bag. I voted my ass off and he led by only 30,000 votes. Whatever!

  • Tracy

I hate the fake save deliberations…it’s irritating.

I didn’t care much for Scott’s singing, but he seems like a cool guy.

  • aly

Awe Scott. He put his heart and soul into this. Wish him the best.
    It was sad.

  • 4got

VFTW have to change their name to Don’t Vote for the Worst to save face. :lol_tb:

  • http://myspace.com/pm68 Pam

Scott is indeed a very classy guy. I know he didn’t have a chance in winning, but I have a lot of respect for him. It became very apparent to me from Simon’s comment that the save would have gone to Lil and after her performance last night in no way shape or form do I think she would have deserved the save tonight.

  • Victoria

Many people call it fake. I read people really well and I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think they weà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re faking it. I pretty much knew it was no changing Simonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s decision for the NO, but i honestly got from their expressions that he felt bad about it. Kara and Paula wanted him saved

I agree. I was sure Simon would say no, but I think Kara and Paula genuinely wanted him around.

Lol. No kidding – ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s two weeks in a row now that their pickà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s been voted off. Wonder who theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll choose now?

    I’m betting on Allison.

  • Dr. Tracey

    I’m glad VFTW failed.

I thought it was nice what Paula said at the end. I thought his sing out was actually better than yesterdays performance apart from that one terrible note and the last few words.
I feel bad wishing someone who seems so nice would go home though, makes me feel like a mean person. The judges had me fooled though, I actually thought they might use the save………eek! I’m useless at predicting this stuff LOL

  • weareallinnocent

I’ve not yet read the comments, but that was truly heartwrenching. Maybe I’m just a sap. :-(

Geez, I’ve only liked Scott’s performances last week and the one he just did (ahem, without that horrid high note, oh my) and I’ve totally believed he should go. But, still? Crying!! No, not hormonal. LOL I need to get a grip.

Dude even begged a little with “I know I can do better in the coming weeks.” Ahhhh, I’m choking up even as I type.

To hell with the save rule. THAT is NOT good TV and NOT why I watch this show, dammit!

Ok, rant over. Snif, snif. Damn.

  • Tess

I know I’m an insensitive bitch but I’m glad to see Scott go. I don’t think he measured up in this competition and, if I’m brutally honest, I think he’s been riding on the coat tails of his physical challenge for awhile. He does have the tour to look forward to.

I think the remaining 7 are going to be a lot loser on stage in the group numbers, now, and hopefully they will bring back live singing since they don’t have to worry as much about staging, etc.

Next week should be pretty damn good. We now know that Lil is vulnerable and that her voting block isn’t quite so strong. Anoop needs to up his game and everyone needs to perform. I don’t think anyone is “safe” after this week. And, I think dial idol is unreliable when the voting and margin of error is as close as it was this week. Vote for your favs, everyone, or they are going home.

  • gbvrallyci

I think I’m the only legit Scott fan here! Kris Allen deserved to go last night, I don’t get and probably will never get his appeal. What genre is he? What type of music does he actually play? Kris must go, and now I’m bitter toward Anoop…

  • St.Lucia

    YAY! Scott is gone!

Now who am I going to fold laundry during?

I wish Paula had left the little last comment at the end alone. It felt like a backhanded compliment.

  • Niall

VFTW have to change their name to Donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t Vote for the Worst to save face.

Naw, it’s not life and death for them the way it is for some of the fanbases. The weekly thread where they make the pick while watching the show is 80% of the fun. They’ll mockingly grieve and mourn before turning their attention to the next pick.

  • dulce

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m an Anoop fan but it really doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t matter. Adam has this thing in the bag. I voted my ass off and he led by only 30,000 votes. Whatever!

Put it this way. Nobody is going to win unless your name is Adam Lambert. TPTB will surely see to that. Anyway, vote for Anoop to keep him in week by week. Yeah, he’s not gonna win, but I think making it to the top 5 or 6 will be HUGE for him.

  • Michelle

Adam’s got it in the bag, and Gokey probably the runner up spot. But I am still going to vote to make sure my faves get as far as they can. At least Kris or Allison has to make it to Top 3, that’s my goal now.

    eta:

Ah, well. At least the group numbers will have alot more choreography!!! Wooo! :clap_tb:

    OMG LOL

  • tinawina

I still think Gokey’s gonna win. I don’t like it, but I think that’s how its gonna go down.

  • sayxwhat

Wow. I didn’t excpect to do this, but I teared up a little. I was surprised, cause I never really was a fan of Scott’s voice. But… I just felt so bad for the poor kid =[ Ah, well. At least the group numbers will have alot more choreography!!! Wooo! :clap_tb:

  • Cec

VFTW’s pick was Scott, and that may partially explain the small gap between Anoop and Scott. Lil needs to go.

  • cookcricket

Awww, I think Pauler meant every word she said in her own ‘small view of the world’ way…I hope Scott realized her heart was behind it and I’m sure he did since he’s probably dealt with this type of thing his entire life.

  • Skylark

Scott is on the tour, Alexis isn’t. He is a lucky guy and I refuse to feel bad for him.

  • chessguy99

I thought Anoop was gone when Ryan said only 30K seperated them. Thought much of his UNC support was tired from partying monday night.

Good to see Lil in the Bottom 3, she should have been there Motown week. They’ve used up just about all the themes she had a chance to be good at. If next week is movie soundtracks, she’ll have a chance. But if she blows it again, Simon is going to stick in the dagger and twist it as he has done the past two weeks to Megan and Scott.

Maybe DialIdol was completely bugged for Kris’ numbers. If it wasn’t collecting right that first 15 minutes, it would bork his numbers for the whole night.

  • nad

Scott was definitely a nice person and really is an inspiration..but it was his time. That being said why are 2 talented people like Allison and Anoop in the bottom 3 two times already. I get that Adam Lambert will win this whole thing but those 2 deserve to go to the top 5…so please lets vote for Anoop and Allison…

  • soccerboi

I dont feel bad for him either…he should have been gone weeks ago. Sympathy got him this far…certainly not talent.

  • NOLA

Scott, you are a class act. Have fun on tour!

  • saramcvt

Though I feel Scott did deserve to go home, this seemed especially cruel to me tonight. I actually got a little teary watching him try desperately to save himself, not realizing there was NO way it would happen. Jerking the contestants around like this is not entertaining to me. They are human beings, not toys to play with. Shame on Idol for putting these aspiring artists through this sham.

Also, Kellie Pickler STILL can’t sing. That was horrible! I don’t care how “cute” she is. For her to be sharing award show stages with Carrie Underwood right now is just sad, sad, sad…..

  • barefootgirl

TPTB have no influence on my choice for the winner. I think Adam is the most deserving of the title, so far anyway.

  • Victoria

Does this mean we get better choreographed group numbers?

  • Valentin432

Scott is gone, that’s done, now the competition is going to be fierce.
Lil is certainly in danger but at least for the judges she has the capacity to put herself together.

There are some questions after tonight:
Who get the pimp spot next week? There are three possibilities: Anoop, Lil and Danny (the other already had it during the finals). If I had to wagger on someone, I will put my money on Gokey (but I thought he would have it this week, couldn’t be more wrong).

Who is going to be the new VFTW pick? This is going to be somewhat important because there are several contestants really close to each other: Matt, Anoop, Kris, Lil and Allison could all go next week or be top 3. This means that being the VFTW pick could swing the competition for one of these people.
Furthermore, there is no clear pick now that Scott is gone. The worst singer of the bunch is probably Lil right now, but she was so overpimped that I cannot see her as their pick.
Allison had been strongly considered (and I secretly hope she will again since she could use a stronger voting group) but can they really support one of the best singer in the competition ( the judges clearly love her).

    What about the judges save?
I mean they seemed to really consider Scott even tough he was unquestionably the worse singer of the bunch.
I think they should agree on 3 or 4 singers of the seven that they judge worthy because everyone of them is good so could deserve it in theory.
For instance, if they decided to save Anoop (and after last nights performance why not), is he better than half of the contestants left?
That’s the question they should be wondering about before using the save.

  • Tess

Just wondering….about the tour. I know the contestants get a nice pay check for going on tour (I’ve heard rumours of $100,000) with all expenses paid. Considering the fact that minors must travel with a legal guardian I’m sure AI will cover the cost of Allison’s guardian…but what will happen with Scott? I’m sure he can travel without a companion (he’s not a kid) but I’m sure it would be more comfortable for everyone if he had someone traveling with him. Stupid thought to cross my mind, and totally irrelevant. But…I get curious about the most obscure stuff.

  • weareallinnocent

    I still think Gokeyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s gonna win. I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t like it, but I think thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s how its gonna go down.

    Yep, that’s how I see/fear it too.

And, Adam can’t win anything if his fans continue to vote to save others. Dial Idol is not reliable. If tonight doesn’t prove that, I don’t know what will.

  • Victoria

    Valentin432:

Who get the pimp spot next week?

I’m betting on Gokey. He hasn’t had it in awhile. If Anoop has a particularly good performance, it could be him as well.

Who is going to be the new VFTW pick?

Probably Allison. They love her since she sort of “caw”ed along with Megan last week.

    What about the judges save?

I think they might save Allison, if they need to. I think they are going to use it at some point because if they don’t it’s just another “Oops, we screwed up!” from TPTB.

  • St.Lucia

Scott is on the tour, Alexis isnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t. He is a lucky guy and I refuse to feel bad for him.

    Yeah, that’s unfortunate.

I’ve already decided I’m not going on this tour. The only one worth seeing is Adam in my opinion and since he’ll finish at the top or very near it, I refuse to sit through 8 contestants I can hardly stomach for Adam.

I’ll wait for his solo tour.

I have to usually like at least 5 or more contestants before I contemplate even seeing this tour.

And on this tour I have Michael Sarver. And Scott. And Lil. And Danny Gokey with at least 3 songs each.

    *yuk*

    Not worth the 80 dollars.

I do wish that I could replace Scott with Alexis though.

Scott just is going to be so awkward on tour.

  • Jupi

I was sorry to see Scott go. He wasn’t one of my faves, but the way he got eliminated was a little sad.

Still, I’m happy that my 3 favourites, Danny, Kris and Allison are safe! I thought Kris would at least be in the B3 though, kinda surprised about that.

  • annabelina

Phew, I can relax for another week. Really, Kris, no more mosh pit for you.

Was anyone else getting Final 2 vibes whenever Adam and Allison were together tonight (in the Ford vid and at the end of the group song) or is that just my Freudian sight?

  • downeast

You know, that 30,000 votes thing may or may not be true (Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m such a cynicà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦)

by saying that, it gears up the Anoopers for next week AND it gave Scott some props AND it ups the drama factor, which theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re kinda lacking this year, really.

I’m kinda hoping Adam’s in the first half next week so I can turn it off sooner. And if Gokey gets the pimp spot, may they run FIFTEEN minutes over and get cut off on most networks by an Oxyclean Infomercial.

Not that anyone could tell the difference, really…

  • nad

Put it this way. Nobody is going to win unless your name is Adam Lambert. TPTB will surely see to that. Anyway, vote for Anoop to keep him in week by week. Yeah, heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s not gonna win, but I think making it to the top 5 or 6 will be HUGE for him.

YES!!! vote so we can at least get him into the top 5. Vocally he is one of the best….

  • flyaway

Didn’t hear next week’s theme – anyone know? Past years have always had a “crooner” (Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow, Tony Bennet) who’s music would work well for everyone but the females.

  • Nedsdag

I thought Kris would at least be in the B3 though, kinda surprised about that.

One word: texting. Dial Idol cannot access text messaging.

  • IGetCranked

I’m realllllllly tired of women sitting on the table in front of Simon and singing to him. Though I wouldn’t mind Taylor doing that when he’s on….

  • barefootgirl

I don’t think they were cruel to Scott. He got the kindest treatment.

I wish they’d always use their last comments to encourage, instead of telling them they suck and are not worth saving.

  • Victoria

Was anyone else getting Final 2 vibes whenever Adam and Allison were together tonight (in the Ford vid and at the end of the group song) or is that just my Freudian sight?

I don’t know about final 2 vibes, but I was getting I Hope They’re Final 2 vibes, lol. They are definately the 2 best IMO.

    ETA: Didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t hear next weekà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s theme – anyone know?

I’ve heard Disney and Movie Soundtrack. Of course, those are just rumors.

  • go dmho

I agree it was Scott’s turn to go but MAN! that song was soooo much better tonight. I don’t care if he had a few bad notes. How come no one ever complains about Adam’s bad notes? He has them too. Now, with Scott gone, I can turn my attention solely to Danny Go Gokey!

  • NOLA

No, annabelina. I don’t see Allison making Final 2.
I also believe Danny will be the next American Idol.
    Adam will be 2nd.

  • sweetie99v

edit: don’t question or criticize your fellow posters. READ MY GUIDELINES

  • Tess

As much as I really do like Kris and Anoop and Matt, I’m only going to be voting for my awesome duo Allison and Adam from here on out. This is a competition, now, and I really think every blasted vote will count; especially if I want to prevent Lil’s and Danny’s voting block from taking over.

I hope everyone backs their favorite to the hilt and supports them. There are some good singers and performers left. Everyone (with the exception of Lil, IMHO) have proven themselves…even Danny has had a good performance.

    Good luck Everyone!

  • tinawina

Who get the pimp spot next week? There are three possibilities: Anoop, Lil and Danny (the other already had it during the finals). If I had to wagger on someone, I will put my money on Gokey (but I thought he would have it this week, couldnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t be more wrong).

Great question. It will go to the person the producers want to save the most. I’m betting on Gokey or Lil.

Next week is do or die for Lil. She had an enormous advantage being she was the only female R&B diva but one can only underwhelm for so long before people get tired of saving you. If Lil doesn’t step it up, she will be out in the next 2 weeks.

Anoop is clearly on the bubble too. He has not been growing his fanbase.

Allison relies heavily on strong performances/casual vote. But she should be okay for a minute. As long as they don’t put her first or second again.

I think those 3 are the ones biggest at risk to go next, esp Lil and Anoop.

ETA: OOOhhh.. I forgot about Matt. I think he’s in the same boat as Allison. More reliant on casual votes. If he performs well he should be okay. But if not…

  • Niall

It was strange to see how hopeful Scott was, especially after Megan made it very clear on Idolatry that she and the other contestants knew all the save deliberations were a sham. Was Scott playing along or is he truly that naive?

  • sonyab

I love Pickler!! :) She was great tonight. :)

  • Ms. Potato

Hmmà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦this is a family show yes? Im no prudeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦BUT..i can hear daddys all over America hearing from their 10 yr oldà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦
à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Daddy, what does he mean he makes your head spin right round when you go downtown?à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

Well honey they are talking about oral sexà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦over your ears!

My daughter will be 10 in a few months, and I can’t imagine her interpreting those lyrics in the intended manner. And if someone’s 10-year-old can interpret them correctly, the problem doesn’t lie within the lyrics!

Even if it rings true to you and makes you blush doesn’t mean that a child who hasn’t had a sexual experience will have the same reaction.

  • cookcricket

Lil (and apparently the judges) are still living in a fantasy world that she is doing something in this competition. Her face when she was safe was relieved, but in a ‘that’s how it should be’ sort of way.

Though I feel Scott did deserve to go home, this seemed especially cruel to me tonight. I actually got a little teary watching him try desperately to save himself, not realizing there was NO way it would happen. Jerking the contestants around like this is not entertaining to me.

IMO, Simon did what he knew was right and it was the pity of the two that wanted him to stay (obviously one Paula since she said he had done well up until this week) that made the whole thing awkward.

  • Niall

Agreed. I was in the room many times as a kid while my parents watched Dynasty or listened to music with some adult content or double entendres and was never the wiser. I’m not endorsing that parents go out and buy their kid a Flo-Rida cd but as far as tonight goes, if the parent doesn’t freak out about it the kid won’t even notice or care

  • cay

Danny will be the next American Idol. His support hasn’t wavered and his fans don’t split votes like the rest of them. (Adam fans really split votes with Kris/Allison and I would bet the pimping is because he isn’t doing very well)

David Coury “Voice box” is a vocal coach who has worked with a lot of people and who keeps a blog. He says,

“Can anyone on Idol out sing Adam? Can anyone out perform Adam? No and No, not this season. So the real question becomes: Can Adam one up Adam? Yes. How? By working from the inside out. By choosing the song that speaks to him in the now and interpreting it with laser-like intensity and freedom. The freedom is as important for Adam as the intensity. Intensity alone will keep Adam at armà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s length from some viewers who might see him as à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“odd.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Freedom in the mix will keep his presentation friendlier and thus allow him to come across as relatable. This is where Danny, this seasonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s vocal powerhouse runner-up, absolutely poses a threat to Adam. People relate to Danny. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s everyman living the dream. Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s hard not to root for this Average Joe with his way-above-average talent. But in Adam, America is being exposed to a new dimension: a singer giving superior voice to the truly unsung à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ the misunderstood. The only one who can compete with that is Adam.”

Adam is too hard for many in this country to understand. We AI fanatics are used to Adam. But to many hearing “all I wanted to do was dress up” is uncomfortable. Just as Bo broke down barriers for Daughtry and Cook, Adam is breaking barriers, but he won’t win.

    :wub_tb: Scotty!!

Yeah, his time was definitely up – no way around it.

I still can’t see Danny winning American Idol, for some reason.

Lil got her wake-up call, but I’ll bet next week, she’s still asleep.

  • ordinarygirl09

I am SO happy he is gone! Woohoo! Now get rid of Anoop and Lil’ and i’ll be happy!:)

  • zs

It was Scott’s time to leave; am happy Anoop has survived again. It is too bad that idol treats him with lesser and lesser respect with every passing week. He has been consistently getting the least camera time on the ford videos and the group songs; also he is Ryan’s pick for phony conversations and mean sarcasms, not to mention the faint praise from judges for great performances (scathing for weak song choices) while other contestants get great praise for faint performances (see Gokey, Lil?). whatever! hopefully Adam will use all the spotlight he is getting now to separate out and win the season as the playing field narrows and middle america’s vote will become dearer to win the title

  • Michelle

A lot of people seem to be confident about Allison’s chances — don’t be! She’s still susceptible to a bad night from the judges. (Miley or no)

  • Mistress of Harsh

Ms.Potato- I dont think the person you quoted is saying that a child would know what the lyric means, but rather they wouldn’t and would ask you what they meant. My 8yr old niece ever asked me that question she is being instructed to ask her mother…LOL. No way am I going to tell her. The day she started singing I Kissed A Girl and knew all the lyrics I about fainted and I am about as liberal as they get, just not for my 8 year old niece.

  • downeast

Cay: To follow your logic, if Danny gets the pimp spot next week will that be because he is doing poorly in the voting?

The judges have consistently praised Danny to a degree that doesn’t always match his performance (last night in particular)….does that mean he’s doing poorly in the voting?

You may be right about the end results, but I don’t agree with what you’re concluding from the “pimping.”

  • AnnJo

Please, Please vote for Anoop!! He was so good this week!!

  • barefootgirl

I’ve only voted in 2 other seasons and never split votes until now. I’ve hardly voted for Adam because I want to save other favorites. But I’ll power vote for him when the time comes.

And I think people will come out of the woodwork to vote for Adam when he needs it. He has a great shot to win this over Gokey.

  • nad

Please, Please vote for Anoop!! He was so good this week!!

That’s what I’m saying!!! If we power voted like people power voted for Kris he would not have been in the bottom 3!! Sigh…I’m getting sad but I won’t stop voting….

  • SparklesATL

Scott should have gone a long time ago. I know he wanted to stay, but I don’t think he wants to stay because he’s got the blind guy sympathy vote.

He says he wants to be treated like everyone else, but it he was treated that way, I don’t think he would have made the final 12.

  • kiwifan

Well the good news for Anoop fans is that he should go 5th, 6th or 7th next week and that has to be an advantage, if he has a good vocal. It’s not over just yet.

Danny will be the next American Idol. His support hasnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t wavered and his fans donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t split votes like the rest of them. (Adam fans really split votes with Kris/Allison and I would bet the pimping is because he isnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t doing very well)

Actually, I think this is exactly why Adam WILL win this year. It’s just like a replay of the David-squared finale; Cook didn’t overtake Archuleta until after Michael Johns got eliminated, and then he surged ahead. Adam already has a strong fanbase, and this week helped pick up new fans; once Allison, Kris, and possibly Anoop get eliminated, he’ll likely be nigh unstoppable.

Gokey, OTOH, shows a lot of similarity with Archuleta – he has a large enough fanbase that he’ll likely make the finale without hitting the bottom 3, but he hasn’t had a ‘moment’ yet that’ll earn him new fans. I don’t think he’s really sharing fans with anyone except possibly Scott. That, compounded with the fact that Gokey is MUCH more unlikable and a worse singer than Archuleta, means that unless he really steps it up, the chances of him winning are quite small. Of course, Adam also has a disadvantage that Cook didn’t, in that he is incredibly polarizing, so we’ll see if his vocal chops will be enough to override his eccentricity.

As for the pimping, both Adam and Gokey have received their fair shares of tonguebaths. But again, this is quite similar to the David-squared situation, in that many people think that Adam has shown that he deserves the praise while Danny has not (this is entirely opinion, of course, but it seems to be a fairly popular one). Overpraise will always breed resentment, but Adam’s had enough “moments” that it’s likely to hurt him less than Danny.

Let me be clear that I adore Adam and he is the best vocalist/performer this season; but with Adam you get baggage. With Gokey, you get a clean-cut, all-American boy who just lost his wife. There is your idol. Not who I would choose; but it is what it is.

I like Paula’s last little speech to him. It was very nice.

But…but..but…Danny’s a terrible singer. Doesn’t that account for anything? Allison & Kris are both ten times the singer he is, with a lot more personality (even in Kris’s own quiet way). All Danny does is smirk, while those two are always giving props to their cohorts. They walk a talk that I have yet to even see him give lip service to.

  • lurksalot

I really think Scott knew he was going to leave tonight. He even said it last night. So they let him down easy, he still knew.

And with Gokey, do you really think TPTB want to be saddled with him on a long term contract? Don’t think so…but they could always drop him after his first CD like they have with others. IMO, he just won’t sell.

  • NOLA

Let’s get real. Adam Lambert doesn’t need to win this competition.

  • ShariG

Adam is so talented. I do think he is a bit theatrical. Not sure how much I believe the emotion he appears to put into his songs. He is just a bit over the top for me and it sometimes makes it a bit ingenuous. But there is no denying his talent. What a voice! I do think some of the AI audience will be turned off by his life style, which is unfortunate. But, bottom line, I don’t think it will matter in the end. He is too talented to be denied. However, I didn’t find last night’s performance to be nearly as good as Tracks of My Tears and probably not worthy of the effusive praise it received. Still, he is interesting and it is fun to see what he is going to do next.

  • adamlover

so in other words, its not a singing competition. if it were, adam would win hands down. i do agree, he wont win…but he is by far the most talented and most intriguing. this season would be an utter bore, IMO, if adam weren’t there. the other person with extreme talent is allison.

a finale with adam and allison would be awesome and so much fun to watch!!

TBTB can’t want Gokey. If they didn’t want Taylor, Gokey is the poor relative in terms of the music biz. They like him for TV and that’s it. If Adam doesn’t win, it will be Kris, Matt or Allison. They can be marketed.

  • dbt

Yikes! Kellie was terrible. I never thought she was a very good singer, but that was just horrible. The country music genre really accepts a lot of sub-par singers. She seems sweet enough, but not a real talent.

Wish they’d do away with this awful sing-off. I can’t stand watching …

Wish I had this hour back.

  • Valentin432

I don’t see Gokey winning this at all, it is been clearer and clearer every week.

On performance alone, he has absolutely no shot at this, his fanbase is strong, I will admit that but not Taylor Hicks strong (Adam has already been twice ahead of him in DI and with a substential margin). Furthermore Taylor was overall well liked, that’s not the case of Gokey who is despised by several fanbase of the contestant that are left.
I sincerely think that most of the Allison, Kris, Matt, Anoop vote would go to Adam in case of a Gokey/Adam finale.

It’s just as big a mismatch as any I have seen in an AI finale, when you see Track of my Tears and then Get Ready or Mad World then Stand By Me, you wonder if these two are competing for the same prize.

  • wjmtv

I think Scott should toss that music stuff aside and start studying acting. I can totally see him doing damned well in a sitcom.

  • SpenserJ

I would say that Danny dropping that shit all over the idol stage on Tuesday and still receiving effusive praise from the judges and tons of votes is indicative of the fact that he has a very strong fanbase. And, I think he’s still getting a huge number of the casual vote – especially those who vote based on the judges opinions. So, if he can do that well on a night when he sings a shitty song very shittily, I would say that he definitely has a chance. Much as I hate to even think those thoughts.

If Adam can keep giving good performances with excellent vocals, I truly believe he has a chance of winning. From my AI discussions with offline friends, who are casual viewers – I don’t think most of America has noticed Adam’s baggage – and I’m pretty sure a lot of them don’t care.

I disagree that all of Adam’s fans are splitting votes. For one, we have NO way of knowing that. A few hundred people who post on some internet AI sites are not a representative sample of the 25 million people who watch this show.

Thank Jeebus (or Gokey) that Scott finally went home tonight. Now, my plan is to put all 20 of my pool points on Danny every week until he goes. That should cement my plan of getting down into the 500′s in the ranking. Especially if the judges continue to overpraise his less than mediocre performances.

  • cay

Did anyone else tonight cringe at the group song tonight? Why must they continue that.

I love what Gary Jules said about Adam’s interpretation of his cover. Adam fans should give some love to his myspace listed in the article. http://www.seacoastonline.com/articles/20090408-ENTERTAIN-90408042

I know by experience that waiting to vote “when the time comes” or “when he needs it” is TOO LATE. You never realize it’s that time until too late. Too many Adam fans have that mindset. DI is NOT accurate and Adam could be hanging on each week for all we know.

  • bean99

Could they possibly spend any more time praising Adam? I mean, seriously. UGH.

ITA, that was so overdone. They’ve run over in previous seasons and just cut it very short with no do-overs the next night. I wouldn’t be surprised if the tongue bathing Adam gets starts to turn people off at some point.

I was so relieved that Anoop was safe but mad that yet again Ryan pulled the fake out with him. They seem to love to toy with Anoop’s (and his fans) emotions. I still haven’t recovered from what they did to Michael Johns last season when he was booted.

I’m not surprised that Dial Idol isn’t completely accurate. I use it but I’m not sure how representative it is because it can only measure calls using their software plus the texts. I like having it because I can vote without the work.

  • Grammie Kari

Yes, but if he wants to win it, then we should support him and vote for him. He has got just as good of a shot as this as anyone else. Danny has alot of haters too. Also, Adam IMO reaches a younger demographic, which probably would text more than they would call. I think Danny’s following is a bit older, and may phone more and hence he leads in Dial Idol on a regular basis. As time goes on Dial Idol will become more and more unreliable because more and more people have cell phones and my text instead of calling. At least that is what I think.

bean99, I think the comments to Adam tonight was more than making up just for the loss of the judge’s comments. In lots of television viewing areas, the local channels cut off AI completely after it ran over more than three or four minutes, and even in places where they didn’t, for people who record the show to see it later, their devices didn’t pick it up.

So in both scenarios viewers couldn’t even see Adam’s performance to decide if they wanted to vote on it, and they couldn’t get the phone number, either (although most AI-savvy viewers could figure it out…but maybe not potential new voters).

If that happened to Anoop, wouldn’t you be livid?

You think you’re so clever, but I’ve already gotcha beat with my super seekrit plan. I was gonna choose Adam, but I think the stealth chosen one is Kris. So I shall continue to pick him until he’s gone.

ETA: As for vote splitting, hell yeah. I’m voting Allison. But I will vote for Adam when it is necessary. I also voted for Kris this week. So yeah. It happens. ;)

  • ShariG

Interesting perspective, Madcap Jester. I think one thing to put into consideration is that younger voters/watchers tend to be the ones on the internet boards. I think there are more people writing on lists like this who are a bit more liberal and therefore not bothered by Adam’s flamboyant style, and I am talking about his singing not his life style. I’m not sure that we are representative of the voting audience for AI. Danny has had among the highest number of votes every week according to dialidol, although who knows how accurate that is. He has a strong and loyal fanbase and I think it is deserved. He is a talented guy and I don’t see the arrogance that some others have mentioned. In fact I think the really negative and nasty comments directed at him on some blogs actually gives him sympathy votes by people who feel the comments are unwarranted.

In terms of splitting the vote, I think you are right about David Cook and Michael Johns last season, but Top 10 week David Cook was ahead of Archuleta and Michael Johns was still in the competition at that point. Of course Top 9 week Archie was again on top until Top 7 week when David Cook had more votes than Archie from that week forward including the finale. Week 8, the week Michael Johns was voted off, Archie was first and Cookie 6th the lowest since top 24 week when he was 9th. So he wasn’t getting Michael Johns votes that week.

I am a Kris Allen fan this year and I’m not sure who will get my vote when and if he is eliminated. I really like Allison, loved Matt this past week but have been disappointed in him weeks before that. I don’t think I really have a style of singing that I support, more the individual and that is a combination of the singing and the personality. That’s why I loved David Cook and that is why I am supporting Kris Allen. I’m not feeling a connection to either Adam or Danny in terms of personality. If Kris gets voted off before Anoop, I might vote for Anoop. If they both are eliminated, my vote would go to Allison. If all three are elimintated, I am not sure who I will vote for. It will probably depend on the performance each week rather than the person since I am really not invested in any of the others and actually like all four as artists. At this point I think the eliminations will be: Anoop, Lil, Matt, Allison, Kris, Danny, with Adam winning, but who knows. Every week is a crap shoot when it gets down to 7 really talented artists.

  • http://airincaol.com coco

I hope someone handed Adam a kleenex after that verbal Blow – job.

This is exactly how I feel about Adam too! He is definitely not my cuppa but I do get why people like him. For me, it’s all just too rehearsed and plotted out…I like when singers let it all hang out and get lost in the moment….I don’t get that from him. But he’s got mad skills for sure….I highly doubt he’d put out anything I’d buy but if he won i wouldn’t be mad…but would rather see Allison run away with the title

I’ve wanted Scott to go for weeks and now that he’s gone I feel so bad for him, he looked like he needed a big hug so bad…poor guy :( I think he’ll find his niche behind the scenes, he’s just not vocally strong enough for the spotlight. Looks like Anoop better step it up next week….as well as Lil!! This is a wild year, everything changes so quickly.

Right. It boggles the mind. Adam doesn’t need this. I wish I could see the numbers. I’d be willing to bet some hard earned money Adam is way ahead of the rest of the pack. I’m not sure but most people I know (other than you guys!) dont go to blogs and dont even know about dial idol. They vote for the favorite. They dont watch internet sites and try to save other contestants that aren’t their faves. Adam wins this in a land slide… I’m tellin ya. This one’s easy. I’m just hoping some others get a shot at recording ( Matt, Anoop and Allison). I’m betting the ones left in the competition already know they will not be the American Idol (well maybe not Gokey). I keep trying to give Gokey the benefit of the doubt but does anyone else think he looks a little smug up there or is it just me?

  • SpenserJ

All right smarty pants – this is war! I vow that I shall be far lower than you in this pool before the season is over. And, I’m not even going to cheat – I won’t be just not picking anyone and wimping out. Oh no, I will actively attempt to lose my 20 points each week by picking someone sure to stay. This might even be harder than trying to win LOL.

  • abbysee

Say what you will about talent, Scott was a class act. It might not have always been a pleasure listening to him sing, but for the one liners alone, I will miss him on the idol stage. I wish him success in some area. Not idol material, but a real cool dude. I also appreciated the difficulty they had in ‘deliberating’. Simon was conflicted. Paula might have been a bit over the top, but I am glad she acknowledged the fact that he was inspirational. He was. Some blind kid somewhere in the world is going to try a little harder, maybe even be looked at in a different light because of Scott, that is BIG.

It was great seeing Pickler tonight. She started off shaky but she worked it out toward the end. She also has never looked better. I really like her pluck.

Now on to next week. It is a new ball game.

I don’t see Danny Gokey winning this thing. I think when two songs are introduced in a couple of weeks that this will separate the wheat from the chaff. When compared to even Kris and Matt he just pales in comparison. I know he is being pimped for a reason. Hopefully to set up the shock boot, that is the way I see it going down. These numbers aren’t as convincingly in his favor as many think imho. Anyway, next week is going to be interesting.

  • dulce

Just finished watching the show here in Colorado. Ugh. Very very sad show. I actually teared up at the end of that. But it was Scott’s time and that’s OK. I don’t think the judges should have even pretended to save him, albeit he sounded 100 times better tonight than last. It’s so so damn patronizing the way the show treats him. Inspiration to millions…my ass. It’s like good blind singers never existed and Scott’s the only blind person who can carry a tune. PULEEZE. Ugh.

Anyway, that didn’t piss me off half as much as Ryan and his freaking Anoop fake-out. Can they leave the kid alone already? He’s not going to win. Stop treating him like a threat when he so obviously isn’t one. Let his fans and him be happy for one freaking second. Just disgusting.

To Anoop: Again, just have fun next week. Sing a more uptempo number, but not dance-y like the other ones. Bring the soul and do your thing and let God take care of the rest. Seriously. TPTB are a joke. They are no more than suits trying to make money, which makes sense, but is also sad because I think lots of people in those positions miss the big picture. But that’s OK. Do your thing, have a great time doing it, have a blast on tour, and then go back to NC and live your life and become a contributing member of society (which is more than I can say for a bunch of people).

Did I mention that I hate this show? (and yet I continue to watch).

…then again….they may be setting Adam up ….like when they tried to set up tater hix on that ELVIS result night…as I remember TPTB were pissed that daughtry was going home and had some chicky celeb request an encore and I believe they did this to piss the non-tater hix fans off…..yes —I too have been on the Grassy Thingy

  • bean99

If that happened to Anoop, wouldnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t you be livid?

Uh, they’ve treated Anoop like crap so I don’t feel sorry for Adam at all when he’s getting the royal treatment most of the time. This had the added benefit of getting articles about his performance getting cut out early so doubt it hurt him in any way.

I think Danny is talented and has a lot of fans. I believe he’s quite likely to get a good part of Anoop, Matt, Lil, and Kris fans (online fans excepted) voting for him as they’re cut. Allison’s would more likely go to Adam. Obviously that’s just a guess on my part and there will be lots of exceptions depending who your 2nd favorite is.

  • JJ123

I really liked Danny in his audition and in Hollywood, I thought he would be my favorite for sure but that just hasn’t happened. I do love his voice, I’m all about that grrrrr factor but he really doesn’t have a style and I can’t envision what kind of record he would make. His personality does not bother me and to be honest most of the hate that was flying around during his Top36 week just had me rooting for him more but I just don’t feel any connection to him or his performances…and I’ve actually tried!! For some reason I think either him or maybe someone close to him was skimming the AI sites and blogs and he decided it’d be best if he toned everything down but that has just made him uninteresting….it’s sad really. Or maybe TPTB decided it’d be best to tone him down??? I don’t know.. but the point of my ramble is that I think that it’s a stretch for him to win this….I just don’t see him picking up votes along the way. He’ll end up an AI footnote. Bummer.

For me it’s Kris, Matt, and Allison that keep me interested….would love to see any of them in the finale.

  • heart2

Really doesn’t matter if Adam wins or not. He will be more famous then the person that wins. He will get what he wants out of Idol ( a good fan base). I’m not so sure I want him to win… 2nd would be good. He just can’t help he is so Awesome.

Hey MJ, enjoyed very much your conversation with Rickey and Jim. It made me want to say I agree that the patronization of Scott is best brought to an end, as he’d have never made it to the finals or the tour if not for his blindness.

Jim was right to say that it’s really outlandish to act like the marginal ability to sing that he had was somehow extraordinary.

What about truly talented blind singers like:

    Stevie Wonder
    Ray Charles
    Diane Schuur
    Ronnie Milsap
    Terri Gibbs

  • Lu

I have to agree with Abby. Scott = 100% class. I’m going to miss his very cool sense of humor. I do think he was amazingly inspiring – so much so that my daughter’s whole 5th grade class was voting for him. IHe had a pretty good voice – definitely could hear him on AC stations. I wish him loads of success. I like him – a lot.

  • Grammie Kari

A finale with adam and allison would be awesome and so much fun to watch!!

I said the same thing earlier. This set up between the Good (Danny) and the Evil (Adam) needs to be toppled. Danny is just so smug, something I don’t see in the other contestants.

I agree, too much praise can be a turn off, or reassure Adam’s fans that he is doing great – no need to vote. Watch out, folks.

Flo-rida sings his hit song à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Right Roundà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ … that was just awful!! I realize AI is doing this to attract the younger viewers, but the lyrics were really bad.

This Jusge Save needs to go and never come back. I hate the whole process. The judges know who they are willing to save. Cruel and crude. Ugh.

  • NOLA

    dulce, great post!

  • JJ123

I think Anoop usually stinks on his uptempo stuff…it’s like he can’t sing and move at the same time. That’s just my casual take on it, but honestly the only times he’s been decent to me is the ballads when he’s sitting still, once he decides to bust out the moves it all goes in the toilet (to my ears). Maybe he should try an uptempo ballad so as to remove the bore factor??

  • JJ123

I think part of the inspiration that people are talking about Scott is that he put himself out there on a platform as huge as AI, it’s scary for anyone but always a little added pressure for the impaired. I would hope they weren’t referring only to the fact that he was a musician….that’s absurd. It was way past Scott’s boot time, he should’ve gone long ago.

Ok Anoop fans can we please power vote for Anoop next week!!!

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m an Anoop fan but it really doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t matter. Adam has this thing in the bag. I voted my ass off and he led by only 30,000 votes. Whatever!

At least Anoop this time was the winner of the close vote. Last time when it was 20,000 separating him and Sarver, he wasn’t so lucky. Anoop probably worried that it was fate recycling itself, but luckily it was not.

  • Lu

as I remember TPTB were pissed that daughtry was going home and had some chicky celeb request an encore and I believe they did this to piss the non-tater hix fans off

Well then TPTB majorly manipulated me because this Elliott fan was highly ticked off about that!

  • lala

This show started with Gokey being pimped, ala Archie last year. Adam has consistently worked his way up to deserving pimpage, ala Cook last year.

When a contestant is pimped from the beginning (Archie, Melinda) it breeds resentment in the fans of all the other contestants, which is how David Cook won. Not all fans will continue to vote once their fave is gone, but for those who did, who do you think Michael Johns fans voted for? Carly fans? Castro fans?

To win this, you need to pick up fans of cast off contestants. Who will Allison’s fans vote for? Matt’s? Kris’? Anoop’s? I would say most will go for Adam. Who’s Gokey gonna get? Scott & Lil’s?

I know that when Matt & Kris are gone, I am definitely doing the 2 hour vote for Adam, because Gokey winning is hideous to me, and TPTB have only themselves to blame–tongue baths every week for lackluster performances make us mad and resentful, you idiots.

  • ShariG

I’m not sure who my vote will go to if and when Kris is voted off. I like Danny as much as I like Adam and I don’t like him as much as I don’t like Adam. There are things about both that I like and things about both that I don’t like. I do agree with the person who earlier posted that Adam has had some “moments” and Danny really hasn’t. He has been consistently good, but not one of those mouth hanging open in awe moments. Adam has. So that puts him a bit ahead.

Aw, Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll miss Scott. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s absolutely the right person to go home this week, but Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll miss his sense of humor and unflappability. He needs to hook up with a sultry girl singer and create a duo with him playing piano, singing back up, and bantering with the singer and the audience. I think heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d be a favorite local act doing that kind of thing.

Hey, that would be a good gig for him! I also think it could go further than local. :) I’ll miss his humor too.

  • Lys

lala, I’d say that the Adam pimpage is even more exorbitant than the Danny pimpage. True, Adam is much more deserving of praise than Danny. But the fact is, they’ve both been chosen ones from the beginning. So I don’t think Adam’s trajectory on this show in terms of frontrunner status and pimpage is at all similar to Cook’s from last year. Very different, IMO.

OK, ford commerical. Scott is so cute, to the wardrobe lady, “are you sure it’s not pink?” I think they had a great time doing it. This is the best ford comercial this season.

Ok, here comes the Adam comments and the shout out to the mayor from Matt. Ok, who’s safe. Ah, poor Anoop. You know Kris felt bad about that. I think that has to be a tough line to walk when showing expression after being told you are safe.

Adam is so far and away the clear winner that the next 6 or 7 weeks seem kind of pointless. For the first time, one elimination per week is not going to cut it. It’s so obvious that Lil, Anoop, Kris, Matt are dead weight… the next few weeks are going to be a waste of time.

Nola, I get that, but seriously Gokey? Why not the more likable Kris? I could stomach that. Danny just seems smarmy and smug, and one of the least talented people left.

I think part of the inspiration that people are talking about Scott is that he put himself out there on a platform as huge as AI, ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s scary for anyone but always a little added pressure for the impaired.

Exactly, it’s not that there has never been a talented blind musician. But to do this, in this fashion is a different animal entirely. It’s not that he’s even in their league, but taking this leap, on nationwide teevee is just a scary thing for sighted people. People with lesser intestinal fortitude have cracked under the pressure. Matt bleats like a freaking goat because of his nerves. Jason Castro and Brooke White certainly suffered.

Just think, he can’t read expressions which is a big part of figuring out whether you are being accepted. He’s onstage where he needs others to navigate for him. He knows that he is seen as helpless, yet is self sufficient enough to have achieved this very rare pop culture platform. Hell yes, it’s inspirational. And for the next blind kid who comes on this show I bet you he credits Scott with showing him it’s possible. If he’s the next Jose Feliciano, or a Little Stevie, and wins this thing, that’s where the seed that was inspiration is sown. I may be a jaded hard ass, but even I can see how this was big. Paula is known for hyperbole, maybe millions weren’t inspired by Scott, but even if two or three hundred were, that ain’t half bad.

  • undercooked

Ok, I read the earlier stuff and I know Scott is going to have to sing for his AI life. I think Scott is the right person to go home, but he’s such a nice guy, you hate for him to feel bad.

  • laura11383

I liked Scott – he seemed like a genuinely nice guy. Definitely his time to go, and he’s a superbly talented musician, but he’s about 2 decades behind his time. Maybe he’ll be a songwriter/piano player a la David Foster (but not as creepy…).

    Still don’t like Kellie Pickler.

A thought about the judges save. I feel like they should give them a commercial break to talk it over. For the contestants to have to stand there and watch them deliberate is kind of demeaning to them. To have to stand there and beg for your spot? I mean, I suppose they don’t have to, but it feels kind of pathetic to watch them stand there helplessly. If they’re going to keep it, let them deliberate without all of America watching.

  • Cheeryo

I wonder if Alexis wanted off the show or something, because it just doesn’t make sense.

  • Caffiend

Danny is not going to win American Idol. Yes, for some mysterious reason he was a Chosen One at first, but he has not changed, improved or surprised anyone since the competition started. He’s a competent singer at times, but he has not blown anyone away. Adam, on the other hand, has gained fans week after week with his surprising, original performances. Many people who didn’t like him at first like him now. Some of those people LOVE him now…I am one of them.

I liken Danny to Daughtry or Archuleta — talented people with huge fanbases who were overtaken by someone who caught on later and gained fans week after week.

I’m hoping Allison follows the Adam arc.

  • cay

Adam will be more famous because he WON’T win. I’m one who thinks Adam deserves to win, but the idea of him winning creeps me out. It would suit Danny better. But I know Adam wants to win so I’ll keep voting. The only reason I’d want Adam to win is to see his face and tears at the validation he’d feel from winning as “just Adam”. (For non-fans in his latest confessional he tells us his Mom wanted him to tone it down for Idol, but he said that if he did “he wouldn’t be Adam” and he keeps saying he just wants to be Adam”. )

Adam looks so much better – younger and cuter – with the haircut. I thought he sounded great singing Circus on the Ford video. You can really hear him, and I think he’ll end up singing pop songs like this and make really cool music videos.

I think Danny is honestly very talented. I was a semi-fan equally of Archie and Cook last year and I saw that sometimes it’s hard to see the talent of the opponent. I can’t see anyone stealing the title from him. (and as a neutral person from last year, the Cook pimpage was way higher to the point of the judges going on talk shows dissing Archie but it didn’t start until in to the top 12. Archie was obviously getting all the pimping at this point. He actually forgot much of a song. I don’t think anyone would survive this year if they did that)

I agree, too much praise can be a turn off, or reassure Adamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s fans that he is doing great – no need to vote.

As someone who likes Adam I sure don’t feel like there’s no need to vote. Especially after seeing the reaction to him around here. It makes me feel sad for him and the whole situation.

After seeing the show I feel equally bad for Scott. What a nice guy. Yes, I felt like it was time for him to go but once again I didn’t like the way it was handled. It just felt wrong and I hate the judges save even more, if that’s possible.

  • colette

Boy, that opening group number wasn’t cheesy. It was more like sour milky. What the….??? Did you notice, once again, the pimpage of Adam and Lil? Allison got some voice time, but none of the other boys.

Now the commercial, that was pure Velveeta! I loved that intense movie director acting like he was making a Scorcese movie or something. The final product was about the most amateurish ad I’ve ever seen on Idol….and that’s sayin’ something!

    Oh, the singing competition. THAT.

Goodbye sweet Scott. You’ll tour, you’ll make a Muzak-pop album or two, you’ll have some devoted fans, you’ll have a nice life. Everyone wishes you well, and have enjoyed your witty asides and sunny attitude immednsely. and most of us are relieved we don’t have to hear you butcher any more tunes on Idol.

Kris! You dodged a bullet, bro. But as I wrote earlier, listening to his last performance over you realize it wasn’t that bad, in fact it was pretty good.

The judges will not lift a finger to help Kris, unless all their favorites go down in flames. But Kris can help himself — clearly he has a strong fan base now who saved him, and he has great musical chops, and he will never sing surrounded by a horde swaying girls underneath the stage again.

Lil dodged a bigger bullet. I think they would’ve saved her, out of this completely insane conviction that she’s really a hot singer pretending to be a profoundly mediocre one. But as things get down to the wire, they’re gonna be faced with the possible eliminations of some of their bigger faves, and they only have one save, so who gets it? They only have two more weeks to rescue someone? Or three?

So AI marches on, eating my life up in big mouthfuls. I really might have stopped watching if Kris was axed. Let’s hear it for the boy! I’m not on the Adam bandwagon, but a three way between Allison, Kris and Adam would be enormous fun because they’re each so different.

Don’t underestimate the Goke though. I think he’s kind of a one-trick pony vocally, but he looked pretty fly in that black suit and red tie, and the ladies scream loud for him.

Meanwhile, the person who should really be eliminated is the choreographer, or whatever you call someone who makes kids who have no idea with their arms or hands or bodies in general march about the stage, like a listless gym class……

Oh, and please please please tell me why they let Kellie Pickler promo her new album with pitchy vocals, and don’t invite Melinda Doolittle, one of the best AI contestants ever & no. 3 (Ms. Pickler was 6) to come on and sing something from her wonderful album??? I guess they only want to help the people whose albums are already selling well. Silly silly me….

  • lakerchristinee

Alrighty, I am certain that Simon was referring to Anoop with the save–therefore, they’re looking to save a person who had a good performance and is unfairly booted. Good for them…that’s the only fair way of determining who’s safe.

And seriously…WHO IS VOTING FOR LIL? I have to ask this every time. Allison…a 16 year old…is out singing Lil EVERY.SINGLE.WEEK!!!

Maybe you’re right–I was a huge Cooktard last year, so I try to be objective when talking about him–I know he was pimped, but I didn’t think that started for him until he proved that he should be pimped. Up until then he got “smug” from Simon.

My 9 yr old son is an Adam fan, but he just doesn’t do it for me, and trust me, I WANT to really like him. I just think it’s something about the tone of his voice–yes, it’s perfectly beautiful, but it doesn’t move me, kwim? I guess the same way I felt about Archie last year. Or I should say, the way I felt about Archie’s voice. Cuz Archie bugged me personality wise, whereas I love Adam’s personality.

I have watched all 8 seasons and this is only the 3rd time I have had a *favorite* that got me voting–Elliott in S5, Cook last year, and now Matt. I keep telling myself my fave won last year, so I can’t be getting too greedy. :)

I hope Matt wears a hat next week cuz I know he took my advice on the Xanax.

LOL! Yes, that 1/4 Xanax worked wonders for the boy. Now next week, another 1/4 Xanax and back at the piano–I appreciated the performance aspect of PTL, but I hate that smarmy song and I need a nice gooshy love song from him to get the taste of PTL outta my mouth. And ONLY piano–if anyone can do just piano, it’s Matt.

Kellie sounded fantastic tonight, it’s a shame Idol producers had to try and trash her performance with the awful back up singer and lousy band, but I guess that’s all you can expect from the frauds who bring us this crappy show and never could handle how Kellie was one of their most popular Idols to date. And of course these frauds at Idol and Sony Music made sure Kellie’s cd isn’t in all the stores when music fans go out and buy it tomorrow, just as they’d done the last two times she’s performed on this show, then of course these little piss ants will let Kellie take the blame for the poor sales that result because of their actions.

And these asswipes wonder why people like me aren’t buying Idol or Sony products. And Sony wonders why their stock price is in the shitter. I don’t support frauds. I boycott their sorry asses till they go out of business. Seeing how Sony loss money this last year instead of showing a profit only shows me there are many more that feel the same way I do about these frauds in our music industry today.

    That’s my opinion anyway.

Not to everyone watching. I know Adam is supposedly the greatest thing since sliced bread but I’ll take watching Anoop, Matt and Kris over him any day. Hell I’m one of those that prefer Danny over him. I know they have zero chance of winning but everyone has their fans and they all deserve the chance to go out there and give it their all.

I canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t see anyone stealing the title from him. (and as a neutral person from last year, the Cook pimpage was way higher to the point of the judges going on talk shows dissing Archie but it didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t start until in to the top 12.

When Larry King aired that had the behind the scenes Idol stuff and Simon was interview, I think this was around Top 9 week Simon was still giving Archie the win. lala, Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d say that the Adam pimpage is even more exorbitant than the Danny pimpage. True, Adam is much more deserving of praise than Danny. But the fact is, theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve both been chosen ones from the beginning. So I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think Adamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s trajectory on this show in terms of frontrunner status and pimpage is at all similar to Cookà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s from last year. Very different, IMO.

Lys, I think I agree. I remember Adam being one of those who had very early buzz thanks to the wealth of YouTubage out there, received lots of coverage during Hollywood, to the point we knew he was a shoo-in by the first time he showed up in semis (where he got the pimpspot). He’s gotten very good judges comments since then w/only constructive criticism for Ring of Fire. DC was literally nowhere and was tagged as boring, smug and uncharismatic till he broke out in late semis and early finals.

Adam’s trajectory for me is more like Archie, except he’s playing the game much better than Archie and so is gaining votes rather than staying flat. But they’re both talented and it was more the situation around them that bothered me, not the guys themselves.

Gokey’s a whole ‘nother creature in that I don’t think he merits the hype, and yet he will not die.

Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s so obvious that Lil, Anoop, Kris, Matt are dead weightà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦

Charming. Just cause I dislike Gokey, don’t assume that I will actively vote against him if he makes Finale. If this season pisses me off enough, I’ll sit on my hands and let the show have Gokey just out of spite.

Little rumor floating around from radio DJs that ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Jason Mraz week? Oh, pleeeeeeeease be so! LOVE Jason Mraz!

Oh, sweet! I hope it’s true. I would love to see what Adam will do with a singer-songwriter song.

  • Michelle

Which in the voting game, he was apparently correct about, since that was the lowest vote showing Adam’s gotten so far. He’s followed the advice and stayed safe, so I’d say it was helpful.

  • Natasha

Actually, until Mad World that was my favorite performance. :lol_tb:

I still think he could have gotten his point across without being quite so harsh.

  • Kirsten

You know, I’m beginning to wonder if there is some magic spell cast over all songs written by Taylor Swift which prevents them from ever being sung live and on key. Maybe there is some painting somewhere in an attic that gets to hear good singing while the rest of us are tortured by notes that do not normally exist on the musical scale. Taylor can’t sing her own songs. Some promising teenager from the semi-finals can’t sing Taylor’s songs. And now, we are forced to learn that Kellie can’t sing Taylor’s songs either. I’m not sure, but I think we need to add a new Geneva convention.

Oh, BTW, the judges are terrible actors. That pretend deliberation was ridiculous. I could almost visualize Debbie standing stage left and doing the hand gesture for “stretch it out, stretch it out, we have time to fill”.

  • movin2thabeet

Impressions of the night: absolutely horrible group song, cool Ford video except for the fact that they gave way more camera time to Allison and Adam, no on Flo Rida, bad singing (as usual) from the Pickler, incredibly over-the-top pimping of Adam (again), finally had 2 out of 3 right for the bottom three – Lil and Scott. Anoop should not have been there, but the right person went home. Hated, absolutely hated the tortuous process of watching the judges “decide” if they would or would not save Scott. I was hoping that they would not. Enough already. He overstayed his time on the show as it was, nice guy or not.

Now, the real contest begins, as far as I’m concerned. Now I think all the contestants are very talented. I’ve been through this long enough to know that the front runners do not have a lock on that position, and that anything can happen now. Of course, that means that the charade of the save has more chances to be employed now. I’m so glad that Lil was finally in the bottom three as she deserved that spot long before now. And now that the judges have finally let up on their constant praise for her, she’s on a more even playing field with the rest. Now, if they’d only behave similarly with their other ‘can do no wrong’ love – GoGo Gokey, the world would stabilize once again.

  • CRB

Kellie Pickler is even worse of a train wreck now than when she was on Idol. And that is truly saying something.

Great to have the videos to relive the shows — I was out of the country a few weeks ago, and your vids WERE the show for me, so thanks again, mj.
Just want to say that Kris and Anoop were all kinds of handsome, waiitng to hear their fate. Noticed Kris steadily looked at Ryan while Anoop was focused elsewhere — different ways of handling the moment. Really appreciate that Kris is everyone’s cheerleader.
Like everyone else, had tears last night during Scott’s sing-out and journey video. And yeah, as someone queried, he should have a family member or someone with him on tour. Just makes sense.

You’re right. I was wrong, DC & Adam’s trajectories on the show are not the same. After reading what you said Michelle, think about this–if last year’s show would have had the horrible top 36 format we had this year, they would have closed one show with Archie, one with Michael Johns and one with Carly. Honestly, would we even have had David Cook at all? Maybe he would have gotten a wildcard, which is akin to starting the show off already being in the bottom three, like Matt & Anoop did.

In the old format, you only had to not be one of the 2 worst performances in the beginning. Matt’s Coldplay was not good, but was it the worst of the night? No. But he has been penalized from the get go by having to be saved by the judges.

He didn’t say all people would throw their TV’s out the window, just country fans. :)

And IMO it was constructive criticism, ala Simon. He was basically saying to Adam “that was way too OTT freaky for middle America, and it’s best you figure that out now if you want to stick around.”

  • Buderschnookie

Can someone please tell me why was Flo Rida on that stage??

I find it really strange and extremely offensive that everyone has their knickers in a twist over Adam being gay in his private life and yet this no talent ass clown can gyrate to “You spin my head right round when you go down, down” with a stage full of hussies during a results show broadcast.

I’ll tell you who I personally find deeply repulsive, and it isn’t the talented and gracious young man who likes to play dress up with too much makeup and exemplary good manners.

Good grief, it just makes no sense to me.

  • hypertwink

Can I just say how glad I am that I don’t have a stake in who wins this year? (Well, maybe, only that Hokey doesn;t win) I enjoy Kris, Matt and Adam but I don’t live and die with each spoiler or critique.

  • amiroamor

did they say how many votes came in?

Ryan said 34 million votes came in, after Lil was sent back to safety.

  • calimari

I haven’t read all the comments here, but I just want to say how glad I am Scott is finally gone. Nice guy, but so out of his league on this. I thought Kellie has improved in terms of stage presence, but she was still pitchy. This was the only decent Ford video so far. Admittedly, I think that Scott’s presence has limited them in what they can do creatively in terms of the group sing & the videos, so maybe they will get more interesting now.

For me, Anoop/Matt/Lil are all pretty middling, with maybe Matt being a little better than the other 2. Plus he plays an instrument. I don’t know where to put Gokey. I’m going for an Adam/Allison/Kris top 3.

  • Danica_K

Well, that whole results show managed to piss me off no end.

Wow. That group number was full of stank, wasn’t it. Lil was particularly bad and they all sounded like they were moaning during the la-la-las. I feel you Idols. I was moaning in pain, too.

And hello, show. We know you’ve got Adam fever and are jonesing for a good/evil Gokey/Lambert finale, but could you possibly for just a second Stop. Shoving. Him. Down. My. Throat. I like the guy fine, but if you don’t stop soon I fear I’ll start hating him. Don’t make me do that.

Out of the bottom three, only Lil and Scott deserved to be there. Anoop had a great performance with True Colors and I was so disappointed to see him hit the B2. Again. (WTF voters? You want he should bleed on stage for your votes?) Scott is such a good, sweet guy. A few days ago a commenter called him a rainbows-and-puppy-dogs kinda guy, and that’s exactly right. Sadly, his voice wasn’t up to competing with the others. Scotty, you’re a good guy.

But how sweet were Anoop and Scott last night. I’m usually a hard hearted bitch, but I actually teared up several times last night: When Anoop got up to help Scott over to the stools. When Ryan announced that Scott was going home and Anoop looked so surprised. When he hugged Scott and leaned in to tell him to KILL! IT! When Scott sang his heart out for the save. During his leaving video.

And I have to say it, as a fan of Anoop. WTF, producers? It’s obvious you want Anoop gone, what with not showing him in the Ford behind the scenes, giving him a full 0.3 seconds during the pimpmercial, sandbagging him into the background of all but ONE group number, and generally damning him with faint praise when he does well.

I know lots of Kris fans feel like he doesn’t get much love, but dude’s been featured in every pimpmercial and every group number. *sighs* And I like Kris, but seriously?

And Seacrest, I usually like you fine, but you were really and truly a prick last night. “One of you is safe. Anoop (pregnant pause) stay where you are. Lil you are safe.”

as I remember TPTB were pissed that daughtry was going home and had some chicky celeb request an encore and I believe they did this to piss the non-tater hix fans off

Well then TPTB majorly manipulated me because this Elliott fan was highly ticked off about that!

Me too, that was so fake and unfair. I seem to remember he also got the pimp spot 2 times in a row. Isn’t it sad that it still ticks me off? :laugh_tb:

It’s funny you should say that because I was just going to say the same thing, Danica. Even the full shot of the end of the commercial cut off half of Anoop. It’s kind of amazing he’s still there with all of the stuff they do to keep him down. He may not be the best singer or performer but he’s pretty good and doesn’t deserve the crap they keep pulling on him.

Wow, that was the first time the entire season I didn’t loathe Scott’s singing, so way to leave on a high note, Scotty! You actually didn’t suck last night!

But, seriously, even though I felt bad that he didn’t win them over in the end (hate that he essentially had to beg to stay), I don’t get why Paula felt the need to patronize Scott. The guy may be blind, but he’s hardly some poor, down-on-his-luck kid with no other hopes for the future. He has multiple degrees and has a brilliant mind. He just isn’t a brilliant musician. Nonetheless, he has a bright future ahead of him.

I, for one, will never believe Scott made it to the finals on the basis of his talent, so to me, the only disservice they did him, if they did him any, was putting him through to the Top 13 and critiquing him on a ridiculous curve all season long.

  • downeast

Hannah…I think you may be exactly right. They do seem to be having some fun at Anoop’s expense, maybe for two reasons. First, he mouthed off (if Megan were still around I’m very, very sure she’d be getting messed with BIG TIME).

Second, there’s a little mean streak in most of us that when it’s easy to get someone riled up…it’s kinda fun to yank the chain.

I’d like to think the AI producers are more grown-ups than that, but really, what evidence would I have?

    :)

My guess is he’ll have a great performance next week and they’ll find a new victim.

  • nad

I’m still getting over Anoop being in the bottom 2…:( I just listened to his itunes recording of “True Colors” and it is sooooooo good….I don’t get America…why Lil over Anoop?

  • yf7184

After a night of brief sleep, I am still very emotional and upset about Anoop’s being in the B2. He had a great performance and brilliant song choice. He did what he was supposed to do.

I am not sure what else we could do to sway TPTB to give Anoop a little more love and pimpage.

  • lovecert

The thing is Adam plays it down when the judges praise him. He doesn’t go “YES! *smirk*” like some other contestants. He just nods his head and say thank you. That goes a long way in the book.

Anyway, someone was asking who VTFW would have chosen. Last week, I thought Anoop was an obvious choice since he had the ‘courage’ to talk back to the judges. However he apologized this week, so all bets are off.

  • adamlover

as far as adam is concerned, everyone must recall that not only was his performance not taped on the dvr since it was after the hour and minute, but he also didnt get critiqued except for simon’s standing ovation. therefore, a lot of people missed his performance unless they watched it online. I think it was understandable for him to get his critique, just like the other contestants did the night before. is he being penalized for getting the same feedback as everyone else? and, ryan asked him how he felt about it and he said he was flattered…i dont understand what is wrong with that. i do remember a time that simon told him his performance was self indulgent rubbish..noone cared about that.

adam has incredible talent, whether or not he becomes the next american idol. i am sure that he will have a bad night and not get the raves he gets most weeks, but his last performance was fantastic…shouldnt he be praised for it?

on another note, kelly pickler looked great but boy, that girl cannot sing.

  • downeast

    adamlover,

not only that but apparently in many viewing areas the performance was either truncated or cut off completely when the local networks said to heck with it and went on to the next show.

So lots of LIVE viewers didn’t even see it.

If that had happened to anyone else’s favorite, there would be HUGE amounts of outrage about how that no doubt cost him/her votes.

In a way, I guess it was good that it WAS Adam, because he won’t let it bug him for a second.

  • lovecert

I can’t edit my last post.

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m betting on Gokey. He hasnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t had it in awhile. If Anoop has a particularly good performance, it could be him as well.

I think it’s Gokey as well. It’s just the producers’ way of pushing as hard as they can for their favorites to be in the pimp spot on either one of the weeks from Top 12 to Top 7. It’s been proven.

Season 5 was the year where they failed miserably. I think they are still kicking themselves in the shins that they let Taylor get pimp spot the same week Daughtry got eliminated. Kat got the pimp spot for Top 4 and Taylor got Top 3 which was effectively saying that they gave up on Elliott. They thought there was no way Kat’s gonna lose and they lost. That was like the sweetest victory ever for VFTW.

Anyway I digress. They are going for Gokey, effectively giving up Anoop. Then we’ll see who’s eliminated.

  • http://myspace.com/susanatfox sumidol

They shoved Archie and Cook down my throat last year and I did not vote once for either of them, though I loved Cook. I went with the one who entertained me the most and that was Jason, good or bad I just couldnt wait until he was on. So, this year (for the first time) I happen to love ONE of the guys they are pimping, that they just started to pimp since Danny and that is Adam, but if I didnt happen to like Adam it would never matter who they pimped more, I wouldnt hate them or love them because of it, I do have a mind of my own so who gives a damn who they pimp? Everyone is going to love or hate who they want no matter which one is “pimped” , really, who cares, people will vote for the ones they want no matter who is pimped because we are not the mindless robots that TPTB would love us to be

“And I have to say it, as a fan of Anoop. WTF, producers? Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s obvious you want Anoop gone, what with not showing him in the Ford behind the scenes, giving him a full 0.3 seconds during the pimpmercial, sandbagging him into the background of all but ONE group number, and generally damning him with faint praise when he does well.”

I feel ya, I dealt with all of these thoughts and more in regards to Jason, love him I do but looking back – these guys or girls are the ones that bring themselves down with a look, a bad note, saying something that can be taken wrong or is wrong. No one not even TPTB are really that powerful, they are not – Anoop or Adam or Kris or any of them will be gone if they dont really really bring it or do something – not amazing, too ott or boring

I know lots of Kris fans feel like he doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t get much love, but dudeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s been featured in every pimpmercial and every group number. *sighs* And I like Kris, but seriously?

Kris is hot. The producers can’t resist the sexyface. :)

  • kerfuffle

Whew! Finally finished reading all the comments. Just to add to the “mountain”: I’m glad Scott is gone. It was his time. I still cried. What a sweet guy. SOOOOOO freakin’ happy Kris is safe (and wasn’t even in the B3 … BONUS!). Also very happy that Allison and Matt were safe. And again SOOOOOO freakin’ happy that Lil was (finally) B3. Would’ve been even happier if she’d been B2. Sorry Anoop was B3 (and B2). If I’d been the one picking, I’d have put Danny is his spot, with him being the first one safe.

Really looking forward to the Movies theme this week. It should so rock. Can’t wait to see what Adam picks. He should nail it! Please Kris, NAIL IT, TOO!

Regarding the accuracy of Dial Idol: I think they’re still very accurate within their Margin of Error. They stated themselves that this week, only Adam was “guaranteed” to be safe and that any of the other could not only end up in the B3, but were in danger of going home. Adam was safe. Within their parameters, they’ve only been wrong once this season (I believe), when Matt was not supposed to have a chance to be B3, but he was. Therefore, I feel pretty confident using that as a gauge of knowing whether Adam is guaranteed safe, and whether I can “safely” give all of my votes to Kris on a particular night. Also, should DI fail me, for the next two weeks anyway, Adam is (the only one, imo) guaranteed to be saved by the judges (though I’m almost 100% sure they’d save Danny, too).

    kerfuffle, OUT!

ETA: LOL @ Kris‘s “sexyface”, primeminister!

Oh, my sis called me from Missouri (after checking dialidol and she couldnt vote anymore-I am in west) and said stop voting for Adam AND Kris, Kris needs ya more, so my fingers were flying for him, no need to thank me Kris for voting you in past the bottom – !!!!

Thanks, sumidol, for helping keep the dream alive. Kris thanks you, too (I’m sure).

Adam and Kris for the Top 2! Woot!

  • weareallinnocent

I haven’t read everything, sorry. I get why peeps see what they did with Adam on the results as pimping. But, fairly, the director sucked hard Tuesday night and Adam received NO feedback from the judges — not to mention, unless you searched the internet, the casual viewer missed that performance altogether (which could matter in the longterm, particularly if Adam does another RoF type show.) So they had the three judges who’d not commented on the performance comment on the results show. Why is it pimping for them to give Adam the same thing that every single other contestant got the night before? Because the remarks were good? His performance was good, and it’s a fair opinion to have that he was really good. That’s not pimping, in my book.

Behind the scenes of the Ford video shoot was cute. Loved Scott “utterly excrutiating” and Adam “rubbish” imitations of Simon! LOL If anyone was slighted on that clip, it was Lil. No solo face time, no voice or interview, no real video time to speak of — it’s almost like she wasn’t there. Anoop got the next least. So I don’t get where Kris was slighted in the least. Oh well, mileage…

  • just sayin

Can someone please tell me why was Flo Rida on that stage??

I find it really strange and extremely offensive that everyone has their knickers in a twist over Adam being gay in his private life and yet this no talent ass clown can gyrate to à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“You spin my head right round when you go down, downà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ with a stage full of hussies during a results show broadcast.

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll tell you who I personally find deeply repulsive, and it isnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t the talented and gracious young man who likes to play dress up with too much makeup and exemplary good manners.

Good grief, it just makes no sense to me.

Buderschnookie — I was going to make the same point, but you stated it much better than I would have, so I’m just going to quote you instead.

I’m very disappointed in American Idol having that trashy performance. It is the only show that my family watches together, and that was just ridiculous.

  • chicksineggz

I’m still secretly hoping that once the vote splitting ends between Anoop, Matt, and Kris that whichever of these three ends up being the last one standing, he’ll have a chance in the finale.

I voted for Matt on Tuesday night. Only for 5 minutes, but I got about 120 votes in which was amazing.

I was freaking out when Anoop and Scott were left standing up there. I guess I didn’t feel too sympathetic as most of you guys did. I was probably too relieved for Anoop to be thinking about anything else.

I so hope Lil is the next one to go.

  • oceana

I agree that FloRida doesn’t belong on American Idol. The contestants don’t sing rap, it’s a pop show basically, and it’s a family show. They need to stop using the show as a pulpit for any act who wants some visibility. The producers totally ignore their audience when they rent the show out. It’s insulting.

PIMPING: This term is being mis-used. It doesn’t mean praise. When praise is deserved and earned, it’s not pimping. When a contestant is being praised beyond what they deserve, that is pimping. When the judges praise someone who had a crappy performance simply because their head is up their ass and that’s the one they have chosen in their minds to be on top, that is pimping. At least that’s my definition, do others have a different one? IF it’s interchangeable with praise, then the word becomes meaningless …

Thus I don’t think that Adam is being pimped, or that Daughtry was pimped, or David Cook, or Carrie, because they really were/are that good. On the weeks that DC was not as strong, the judges mostly let him know it. Should they not praise good performances?

Adam is in a league of his own this year. Most objective onlookers agree about it. Okay he has some weeks that are less strong, and maybe he is overpraised on those weeks, but not when he has an incredible performance like Tuesday night.

He deserved a mention last night because his peformance was cut off for many people who didn’t see it. Believe it or not, everyone isn’t on the internet or doesn’t go look up videos. I see nothing wrong with Adam getting a scant bit of attention last night to make up for it. It was really very minor.

ultimately it will always be somewhat subjective because we will disagree about who is good or who had a good performance. But there is often consensus and when a huge majority agree that a performance deserved praise, then I don’t see it as pimping, however disagreeable it might be to those who didn’t like the contestant. If that makes any sense.

  • http://www.theBestArts.com theBestArts

My quick thoughts: yes, of course Adam is getting “pimped” – but largely because he is a major ratings driver on Idol. No viewers turn off their set until they see what Adam does.

Most of the remaining contestants on Idol don’t have a single video on YouTube with more than 100,000 views. My “Adam Lambert Demo Reel 1″ received over 200,000 views – in the past 36 hours. Last time I checked, Adam had more than 15 videos with >100,000 views.

Love Adam or hate him, you can’t ignore him.

I’ll be very interested to see who makes it to the end with Adam. I’m hoping Allison and Kris, but Matt and (oh jeez) Danny are possible too. I really like Anoop but don’t think he has more than another week or two left. I had high hopes for Lil, but she still hasn’t delivered.

This is a quote from EW’s elimination night on the scene article

The finalists’ performance of Can’t Get You Out of My Head was largely forgettable, except for what it revealed to me about Scott. I’ve never really paid attention to how this legally blind performer has gotten around stage (is someone guiding him or is he’s holding on to someone else?) Tonight, however, the question was answered: Anoop was serving as Scott’s sight buddy, and my heart cracked a bit when I saw him gently and patiently assisting Scott around the floor like he was a beloved older brother. Sorry if it reads corny but I was moved, man, just moved. So it was with even heavier heart that I watched poor Anoop slide into one of those bar seats when Ryan broke the bottom three news. Though he seemed relatively unaffected on camera, Anoop looked almost despondent at the break and never once cracked a smile. By the time Lil Rounds and Scott joined him on the stools, the mood was positively glum: Lil held her hands between her legs and kept her head down, while Anoop stared into space with that sad and empty look.

Anoop did not deserve to be in the bottom 2, based on his performance, and this article shows that the quips he has recieved about being arrogant are not deserved. I don’t care how great or poorly he does next week, I’m voting for him. I am even going to make my daughter show me how to use that texting thing (which we have but I have never figured out how to use). I love Adam, and that is who I have always voted for, but this kid deserves a break.

  • http://myspace.com/susanatfox sumidol

Each of them in turn has helped Scott around that stage, in the same manner as Anoop last night, I will miss Scotts sweet spirit and kind spirit, a spirit that I have not found or felt in Anoop but maybe the next few weeks will prove me wrong. I have changed my mind about Matt so stranger things can happen?

  • movin2thabeet

I’ve noticed that on a show like American Idol, the smart, university-educated guys, like Anoop and David Cook before him, get a bad rap as being somehow cocky and arrogant. Since this show encourages snap judgments, it becomes a bandwagon type effect where one look or statement gets blown way out of proportion. For whatever reason, the show has decided to make Anoop its whipping boy. Since he clearly wears his emotions right out there for all to see, they’ve seemingly decided that watching him squirm and look outright dejected is good for ratings. Sick, if you ask me.

And even though many have bought into the judges comments that lead one to believe that Anoop is on borrowed time on the show, I wouldn’t be too sure of that. The facts as I see it are that Anoop has never had a bad performance although he has gotten alot of grief from the judges about his upbeat performances. I would argue that they weren’t nearly as bad as the stamp placed upon them. When you consider that both Danny and Lil have had way worse performances that never received more than tepid critiques, you get a sense of the spin going on here. And I do not like being spun.

I took a look at the number of iTunes reviews for this week. No surprise that Adam (223) is in the lead by a good distance. But Allison (41) and Anoop (37) are neck and neck for the 2nd and 3rd place. After that, it’s Matt (27) and Danny (27), with Kris (15), Lil (14) taking up the rear. Interesting to me, since that order was pretty much the same as I ranked the show’s performances.

In the end, it’s not about who’s cutest, friendliest or even most dynamic. Hopefully, the votes will reflect the artist’s ability to move us to actually purchase a CD, and since we have no other evidence to go on, the number of reviews is as good a indication as any. When the iTunes songs become available, I listen to all of them, and decide which ones I’m likely to enjoy on repeat listening. Sometimes my choices don’t match up with my votes. I’ve noticed that sometimes the live performances just haven’t translated well to the studio, and vice versa. I’ve primarily chosen Anoop’s studio recordings because I love the treatment he gives his songs with his smooth, warm tones. He might be subtler than the show usually rewards, and therefore sliding under folks radars, but I think he has alot more quiet support than you might think. And seeing him undeservedly in the bottom 2 this week, might just wake up some of his supporters enough to keep him on the show for at least a couple more weeks. Of course, it all comes down to the performances – hopefully.

YES! I never vote based on who is cute or sexy. I vote if I would purchase their CD or watch them in concert.
I’m going to sound like a broken record, but the only AI winners I liked were Cook & Clarkson.
I would never buy a Gokey, Kris, Lil, or Scott CD.
I love listening to Matt & Anoop.
I think Adam is very talented, but I cannot get over the “Broadway” singing.
I think Adam has a beautiful voice, personality, and is a great performer. However, I really can’t get excited about him. I don’t know why???
    I’m getting too old.
Adam will be successful with or w/out AI.
    I’m not worried about him.

I don’t agree. I don’t think the number of reviews mean anything. Some of the idols just have more online fans that are more rabid or vocal. I definetly bought Matt’s song this week but haven’t left a review. Hell I never write a review for any of the songs I purchase on itunes. I figure my buying the song is support enough.

    Woohoo!!!!!

Hi youse guys. It’s been months since I posted. Just getting into the groove of things.

Sooo…I’m glad to know that I’m not alone. I thought I was the WAY underdog, but I LOVE KRIS.

Really all the guys are good and Adam is the most inventive of the lot (which certainly helped my Cookie).

Anoop is underrated in terms of talent, but in terms of his competitive edge vs. the other guys, he’s he weakest singer right now to me, although he’s good. Lil? Time to go, gurlfriend — you haven’t gotten it done.

Allison? Meh. Danny — I wanna like him more, but it’s a Kris/Adam thing for me. I think Kris cuz I think he needs the win more. Adam? He’s already soaring.

  • Cakenbake

I know lots of Kris fans feel like he doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t get much love, but dudeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s been featured in every pimpmercial and every group number. *sighs* And I like Kris, but seriously?

    That is easy to answer.

For years American Idol tween/young adult viewers has not increased as the show wanted, but older viewers now make up the majority of the Idol viewers. Idol producers said they want to bring in younger viewers and that is why Lady GaGa and Flo Rida have appeared. Besides Lady GaGa and Flo Rida being introduced to a potentially new audience Idol also gets more young adult/tween viewers who know those artists and will tune in to watch.

If they put Kris Allen in “pimpmercial” tweens/young adults watching the Idol commercials will see Kris and would tune in too watch. My pre-teen nieces, who are not frequent Idol viewers saw Kris on the commercials and now LOVE him and are now voting for him like crazy. Yet they never saw his first performances.

Looks, besides talent help a contestant and Idol producers know that if they if put a “pretty face” out in front they will get more young viewers. IMO Kris has both of those qualities. Plus being a very sweet humble guy, which is even more of a plus. Kris is not only ‘cute’ to many, but is an extremly talented singer and musician.

Young people are very visual and let’s face it too many young adults/tweens they see Kris as very attractive even though many of the older viewers don’t.

Plus Kris plays the guitar and is very boyish which is an attraction to the younger audience.

That is why to the music industry Kris Allen would be very marketable and current. Plus according to Paula and Kara very likable and works well with others. He would not be a “difficult” artist like many in the music business have been.

    Hope that answers your question.

  • Cakenbake

I wonder how close the race is between Gokey and Adam? I know that at first Goeky was beating everyone, but I am sure that now Adam is probably leading the pack.

Anyway, someone was asking who VTFW would have chosen. Last week, I thought Anoop was an obvious choice since he had the à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹courageà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ to talk back to the judges. However he apologized this week, so all bets are off.

lol. Sorry, but I don’t think that is how that website works.

I don’t think VFTW was thinking of picking Anoop because of his ‘courage’. They pick contestants because they consider them the “worst”. That is why they call themselves “Vote For The Worst”. I believe that website picks who would be the most ‘unsuccessful’ to market by 19E and then vote for that person to undermine American Idol. That is why they picked persons like Sanjaya, Tatiana Del Toro, Scott Savol and Kevin Covais. Because those contestants would be ‘diffcult’ and hard to be marketable for 19E.

I wouldn’t take it as a compliment if they picked my favorites Adam, Allison or Kris. That is just how I would see it.

  • Cakenbake

I think Scott’s fanbase will probably move on either Matt, Kris or even Gokey.

I think Megan’s fanbase went to Allison, Matt and Kris, even Adam.

  • Danica_K

I believe that website picks who would be the most à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹unsuccessfulà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ to market by 19E and then vote for that person to undermine American Idol. That is why they picked persons like Sanjaya, Tatiana Del Toro, Scott Savol and Kevin Covais.

    Actually, no.

VFTW determine their pick based on a number of things. Sometimes it’s the worst performer/singer. Sometimes it’s someone who might be good, but is no TCO and will piss the producers off for sticking around too long. Sometimes it’s someone with okay talent, but has a genuine f-you attitude toward the judges and will talk back/make a scene. Sometimes they’ll vote form someone really good when it gets down to the nitty gritty, just to try and keep TCO from winning.

And thanks for your in depth analysis of Kris and his pimpage by producers. I had sort of figured that out. Unfortunately sarcasm doesn’t translate well to text. :)

And I do believe there are lots of really nice guys on the show who would not be difficult to work with. Kris certainly seems a nice guy, but hasn’t cornered the market on being nice, humble, or likeable.

  • lovecert

lol. Sorry, but I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think that is how that website works.

I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think VFTW was thinking of picking Anoop because of his à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹courageà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢. Yes. It is vote for the “worst”. But out of all of them, can you pick a definite worst so far?

They all had their ups and downs and so we move on the 2nd criteria which is if they satisfy playing the devil’s advocate against the producers and being a suitable mascot for VFTW. Megan was perfect for being quirky and her don’t-give-a-damn Cawing.

Tatiana was definitely not the worst vocalist from Group 1 but she was a great mascot because she was entertaining and attention-seeking.

To me, if Anoop didn’t apologize and instead went for the “I was completely right” route and continued arguing against the judges, he would have been the next pick.

  • Cakenbake

Actully there was no pimpage of Kris early on, until his performance of “Ain’t No Sunshine” when the producers realized there was potential for that. Because before that Kris was flying under the wire. The judges were pushing Lil, Gokey and Adam, but then realized that there was a lot backfire on the internet with Gokey, a lot was unjustified but it was there. Lil has underperformed and has not met their expectations. Allison, who I love, who the show also pushed was now in danger of being voted off. So the producers had to focus now on this guy named Kris Allen who was flying under their wire and giving great performances every week.

Kris was the underdog who came out of the blue and now as a fanbase.

And as for poor Anoop, yes VFTW considered voting for him, but they considered his apology as ‘wimping out’, which it really wasn’t, but they weren’t thinking of voting for him because of his reply to the judges. They were running out of the ‘worst’ contestants and he was just next in line.

    and as for this:

And I do believe there are lots of really nice guys on the show who would not be difficult to work with. Kris certainly seems a nice guy, but hasnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t cornered the market on being nice, humble, or likeable.

Well according to Paula Kris Allen has been one of the most likable contestants they have had on their show. She said that this week on the show. Kara said that Kris has helped out the other contestants with their songs and practice. An EW writer says that Kris and Allison are the persons who encourage the other contestants on the show. Both Kris/Allison clap and give out the loudest cheers for the others on the show when she has been attending and watching the Live shows. When Simon harshly judged Kris he smiled and nodded and listened intently. Even the stage manger hugs Kris when he walks off the stage after his performance. The EW writer has never seen the stage manger do that before for the years she has gone to the Live shows to write about them.

So according to Paula and Kara Kris thus far has pretty much cornered that market on the show this season. Not that there other nice persons on the show.

  • Cakenbake

    lovecert I explained it here:

That is why they picked persons like Sanjaya, Tatiana Del Toro, Scott Savol and Kevin Covais. Because those contestants would be à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹diffcultà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ and hard to be marketable for 19E.

One of the first picks ever for VFTW was Scott Savol and Kevin “Chicken Little” Covais. They believed that these two would be hard for 19E to market. So they backed them and successfully got them to the next round. Scott beat out Constantine which was a big coup for them and made them a major force in Idol history. That was one of their best victories. Then they were successful in getting people behind Sanjaya and got him past better singers. Which made them even more famous and a major website.

They pick contestants who are the ‘worst’ singers, who would be difficult for 19E to market, who are chessy, who are crazy, who act funny, who are outrageous, and would be hard for 19E.

Now which one does Anoop fit in the above description? None that I know of. Sorry I like Anoop personally, but I don’t think that would be a smart move for Anoop to be VFTW’s pick.

  • lovecert

Didn’t I mention that was the 2nd criteria?

It is exactly because there is no one else left. You can count out TCO – Danny, Adam, Lil.

Take away Allison and Kris who only until recently had a trainwreck. They always stayed in their mould and generally don’t do anything polarizing or say controversial comments.

You get Matt and Anoop. Goatey voice or “Beat It/Caught Up” side of Anoop.

You ask who is cheesy, crazy, act funny, outrageous and hard for 19 to market?
I pose that same question back to you about which of the remaining contestants fulfill those criteria?

Outrageously OTT – Adam? Not so soon. Not until the finale when we oppose Danny altogether.

Outrageously bad – Lil? Maybe, since they started throwing her under the bus. But really? Choosing one of TCOs?

Hard to market – That’s actually Danny but since they are pimping him, ymmv.

    Crazy – none
    Act funny – none
Cheesy – At times Danny. But that is NEVER going to happen. VFTW is never going to go behind him.

So what other criteria can you think of now, other than the one that I mentioned?

  • kerfuffle

    From VFTW:

Will we be spared the inevitable Whitney Houston “Bodyguard” soundtrack shlock from Lil Rounds? While we want to discourage her from picking something boring since she’s the frontrunner as the next VFTW pick, we also know she clearly cannot hit the notes in those songs and will be referred to as a copycat again, making her even angrier than before.

She is, indeed, “the worst”. ymmv.
