(and FTR if Adam ends up on Broadway I for one do not see that as a disaster. My father was a professional singer who managed to make a reasonable living in the music industry and considered himself extremely privileged to have been able to do so. It’s a very crowded profession so anyone who can do it as a sole occupation and never has to put aside their dream and wait tables or stack shelves is doing well in my book. A Broadway career is surely nothing to be ashamed of. YMMV, of course.)

I agree to this, he was not on yesterday but I dont think they were saying Adam is superior to Archie, that is like comparing apples to oranges, Adam just has more range one way, Archie another. Archie is great and what he is doing now is exactly right for a young kid, going Disney and opening for a Disney star. Archie is adorable and I think doing the right thing with his career.

I find myself wishing that there was a clause Idol could invoke that made all non-winners from the previous season eligible for a new round of wildcard entries into the present year’s competition. Then David Archuleta could come back and sing Glam-Boy straight off the stage and kick his ass right back to Broadway.

inally watching Anoopà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s final farewell song, it hit me. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s this yearà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Archie. Smooth, clear sounds, struggles when upbeat, awkwardly moving about at times, great slow sweet ballads, but risks being boring. Archie had the so young, just an adorkable kid thing going for him. Anoop did not. So it was odd to me to hear them within minutes of each other on that stage. And Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m sure Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m the only one that sees a resemblance between those two.

I agree with this assement. Anoop had smooth vocals but not the “it” factor that David Archuleta has and still has. I supported Anoop all the way until his ouster last night, probably will continue to do so if and when he puts out an album.

I was giddy with excitement to see David perform last night admirably too with his being sick and travelling with hardly a day off…and damn if he does and damn if he doesn’t with “Touch My Hand”…I love the song, it’s catcy and danceable…at least he didn’t sing “ALTNOY” last night that in previous post many were grumbling that he better not sing that song, he didn’t yet he still get’s slammed for singing what I don’t consider a “cheesy” song…oh well, David can’t please every one, but he does certainly light up a stage, something that’s missing with this season albeit Adam and Kris have been terrific vocally, but David has that spark that Simon often talks about…and it was wonderful to see David back on the Idol stage…that made my night…for that I thank David Archuleta….. :wub_tb:

Since I’m not usually a big fan of the male singer seasons the past two seasons haven’t been all that interesting for me. All but two runner-ups have been guys. I’d like to see another girl runner up but I don’t think Allison has the fan base to overtake Gokey, Kris, or Adam.

So I guess one good thing about this season for me is now that TPTB have had THREE white male winners (effectively 4 counting Archie) they will finally shut up about the winners not being balanced.

Bring on the girls next year!

ppwars: Your bottom 3 proposition never crossed my mind. BUT, let me add this hopeful thought: the production wants Allison in the final so they place her B3 to garner the sympathy vote and to get her base out furiously banging their phones.

Yes, that’s actually the best-case scenario, and the one I’m hoping they’re engaging in.

I wouldn’t want our theory to be spread too widely, so that it doesn’t diminish the sympathy vote. But I figured the few of us here at MJ’s might be able to take a bit of comfort in it.

ACK: I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t like the RAT PACk standard. All men, adored by all women; and there go the older female votes in a wave of nostalgia.

I suspect that the theme is actually much broader than “just a bunch of songs by guys” (assuming that’s what you meant), because it seems like Sinatra sang pretty much everything written over about 30 years, including “girl songs” like my current favorite for Allison, Someone To Watch Over Me.

Sadly, many of those gals are either dead or senile, but it will soften the blow.

And speaking of being dead….

What do you do for guest appearances on the results show when everyone involved in the theme is long gone? I’ve been wondering if they might drag Ol’ Blue Eyes out of the grave and prop him up on the stage on Wednesday night!

Actually, I think there were several unofficial female members. Legend has it that Lauren Bacall is the one who coined the term “Rat Pack” in the first place. Although, I have no idea if that’s true.

I followed Dial Idol pretty closely last year and there was only one week that didn’t happen, can you guess which week?

I’m not that interested this year so I haven’t been following DI but the peeps that do are saying to me it is way off this year – not sure what has happened, are less people using the DI software, are more people just texting. I heard that TBTB are ticked off about DI so maybe they found a way to sabotage them.

Has TIVO said anything this year? They said they were having a pretty good prediction rate last year going by the number of times people would rewatch a particular performance, don’t ask me how they know this stuff and again can you guess the one week TIVO was off? Fluttering eyelashes coquettishly. Bwah.
