MJ – I must admit I am stunned by your analyses of Danny’s singing performances. One of his greatest strengths is his melodic phrasing (his intonation is also top notch). His ebb and flows are fantastic and he showed great “finesse” in “You Are So Beautiful.” Breath control issues? What were you listening to? Have you ever been trained or trained other vocalists? He was nearly flawless in the YASB! I find that people have a difficult time discerning the tonality of and picking up on the nuances and finesse in people with raspier voices. I saw a lot of harsh critiques with Taylor Hicks, and I still remember the harsh critiques of Michael Bolton and Jon Bon Jovi because of the timbre of their voices. Danny is no different. It’s like some people turn tone deaf when they listen to these types of voices and it boggles my mind. And boy are there a lot of haters and self-proclaimed music experts on this site. I know AI turns everyone into a music critic, but even people that know the “terminology” still don’t seem to know what they are talking about.

I am a “cougar”. We have a unique perspective which I will share w/you. I was around for post war and early 50′s & 60′s rock & roll, R & B, & Jazz. I was around for Motown, the British Invasion, Heavy Metal, Southern Rock, Folk & Blue Grass. I attended many, many concerts, mostly outdoors, where the smell of grass was as heavy as the turf. I truly enjoyed those times, “flower child”. You may think I’m past my prime, because you’re young. Having experienced such diverse music and so many amazing performances, I’ve got a wealth of experience in comparing artists. I gotta tell you, Adam is the most exciting thing to come along in a good while. He energizes me in a way I haven’t felt in a very long time. For all you Kris and Danny fans, there’s a new guy on Britain’s Got Talent, Shaun Smith. An amateur, makes Kris and Danny seem like bad Kareoke(sp). Granted, Kris has a sweet smile, (so does Adam), and we all know the so called “Christians” (haters) will support Danny, but truth be told, neither one of them has any chops. At least not in this “Cougars” opinion.

Speaking of kids. I had a MOMENT today.
My 5-year-old usually just ambles around listening to American Idol as background noise, occasionally sitting on my lap to watch with me.
When Gokey came on with Dance Little Sister, my kid turned to me with eyes wide with apprehension, asking,Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Is this the man who sang the Disaster song (my term for Scream On) last week?Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

Because I think the bottom 2 were very close in votes last week, making for an easy switch.

Now, would ‘American Idol’ cheat or rig the show? For those who go home, probably not, except we must read the fine print. If they determine that votes were illegimate, they have the option to throw them out. This works particularly well with the bottom 2. I would not rule out anything!

If an hour long television show, that is suppose to be about singing, only utilizes 12-14 minutes for actual singing, is that television show really about singing?

Judges Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ can we issue a gag order, so that the contestants will have more time to sing.

I will testify at the hearing of the application for said gag order. I will even pay for my own plane ticket down to L.A. in order to do so. Joking. Sort of.

Last night’s shenanigans and bitching between the judges were a complete *joke* (far more than EVER before). They truly need to be muzzled and chained in their seats (Paula and Kara, I’m talkin’ at you!). Their critiques should consist of a buzzer – green for “yes good job” and red for “could have been better”. Maybe then there would be enough time for the contestants to actually sing more than 20 seconds at a time.

Of course he wants to win. If he didn’t want to win and “be owned by AI”, he would have sabotaged himself weeks ago, before he made it into the Top 10. At this stage – (because make no mistake, AI will ‘own’ him no matter what; they have right of first refusal on ALL the finalists, and they will not let him go) – winning is his best bet for SuperStardom. …I’m not lecturing, I’m just sayin’.

Yeah, Simon has never really asked for votes for anyone before. I dont know if it was a rally cry (why would Adam need one) for his fan base or if it was a true and desperate plea.

I love Adam, think he has a tremendous voice and is a wicked talent but the rest of the country may not see it that way. They may think he is too far out and cant sing for shit. Hard to imagine but it happens.

This article from MTV IÃƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m posting is showing 2 things. One, the Internet is not in necessarily in sync with the real world, and second, I think thereÃƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a generational gap hereÃƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦. According to this informal poll, those under 30ish like Adam and Danny the mostÃƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦. However, as we all know, the show is dominated by cougars. SO, it should be interesting.

virgo03v, the conclusions made in this article are completely bizarre to me. I find it very hard to believe those four 18-25 year olds quoted in the article have actually watched the show. Danny’s performances are more relevant to the younger crowd than those of Kris? In what universe?
