Right Daivd Cooks sinsere tear full hommcomming should get an Emmy?Who knows but the Emmy luv tears. The thing I wish is that when An Idol meets someone who is Ill/wheelchair to make it a private charished event not for PR or a media circus and also maybe someone over the age of 30 would be nice .

American Idol desserves an Emmy win and Friday Night Lights does not. Who wants deeply complecated stroylines no they want simplitic banter between half-twited judges .Newly written lines heck no, just give the contestant song alredy song and the judges the same old lines to repeat untill the audiance wants to go bald by tearing thier hair out.

Oh my God... I just watched that homecoming package again on You Tube... it is fricking amazing and deserves to win!

My favorite bit is when the cheerleaders are doing their thing and the camera pans from them over to David. He just shrugs and shakes his head like, "I'm just as shocked as you are, man."

Tom Bergeron is really very good. Very funny and quick witted. I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t know about Ryan because I havenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t seen AI in its entirety (except some ep in Season 5).

I like Tom Bergeron as well and think he is deserving. Howie does attract a lot of attention.

Although Ryan might be deserving of a nomination just because he's been able to last this long, he did not handle PaulaGate with finesse and forgiveness. Not one apology to Jason. I lost respect for everyone associated with the show that week, and I have been watching since Season 1.

I think they should have gone with the donkeys.

It's the camel footage that is usually the icing on the cake, methinks. Although nothing will ever be quite as funny as Colin yelling that his ox was broken.

As for host, I think Ryan does a very good job keeping the whole show running on a schedule. I would like him to tone down the pitting judges against one another but mostly he shines when he has to make the shows with more contestants fit within the time/commercial break parameters.

I had the same thought about hair---they should have submitted Dolly Parton week for the Little Sparrow Haircut, or as they call it on TWoP---The Haircut Heard Round the World.

I'd be okay with Ryan winning. There were a few times this season where I actually said, damn, he does great with a hard job, moving the show along, getting the eliminated contestant in shape to sing, etc. If Phil from the Amazing Race was nominated, though, well, he and his eyebrow would have my vote.

I'd be good with the David Cook homecoming segment winning. They did a great job with that, boiling down like 14 hours of homecoming into a short sweet package that really was well done. I'd think that I'm F'g Matt Damon wins, unless it splits votes with I'm F'g Ben Affleck.

I can't say that I have any opinion on the IGB nomination.

I don't really support AI winning either of the other awards. On the big one, there were a slew of problems this year, largely coming down to the production. Just to name a few: (1) the hour-long results shows; (2) the Swaybot pit and camera shots through the Swaybot pit; (3) sound quality issues; (4) the judging fiasco on Top 5; (5) the ancient themes; and (6) the fact that they exhausted the contestants to such an extent that the last few weeks were relatively low on highlights. I'd vote for Project Runway. Not the best year for The Amazing Race, and Project Runway had a great season.

On sound mixing, I know that they nominate for a particular episode, but the sound mixing was so bad throughout the season (culminating in the disgrace that was Top 4---it's amazing how much better Hungry Like the Wolf is when it doesn't sound like it's acapella---that I'd hate for the sound mixers to get any validation through an Emmy. The episode actually nominated---the finale---also had some sound issues, particularly with the group performances. Take a listen to the George Michael group performance, which is otherwise a very good group performance. Lots of problems with turning on and off of mikes, and mike levels.

TAR is a classic. It's my all time favorite.

Tom Bergeron is really very good. Very funny and quick witted. I don't know about Ryan because I haven't seen AI in its entirety (except some ep in Season 5).

SYTYCD :
Hummingbird and flower / à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“The Chairmanà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Waltzà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ -Wade Robson
Transformers / à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Fuegoà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ - Shane Sparks
Table / à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ - Mandy Moore
---All good routines but then, there are so many good routines/ Choreographies from last season's SYTYCD.

hair and makeup would get nominated for transforming David Cook from a nerd to a sexy rock star..

I'm going to be laughing about this all night.
And shouldn't there be a category for best accessorizing? Miles could be nominated for giving DC the handcuff and star necklace.

Not only did AI get robbed on choreography, I was sure that hair and makeup would get nominated for transforming David Cook from a nerd to a sexy rock star..

Had to be as much a challenge as turning Paul Giamatti into John Adams..
Robbed, I'd say Robbed.

For Emmy Drams, I recall that shows on the short-list get to send in 1 episode each for consideration. The eventual nominees then get to send in 5 episodes each for consideration. Do they use the same process for reality shows? If so, then perhaps AI would be able to showcase some story arcs better / have more context by showing 5 episodes to judge from instead of just 1.

I do think that Ryan has the tougher job, but I love Phil.

Ooooh, ITA! However, my favorite is Jeff Probst. I hope he wins. I just don't think Ryan is all that funny, to be honest.

Amazing Race for the win!!! Love.that.show! I also hope that Ryan wins for host - although if Phil Keoghan had been nominated, it would be a tougher call for me. I do think that Ryan has the tougher job, but I love Phil.

Count me in as a fan of The Amazing Race. What that production staff does is nothing short of a miracle. Meanwhile, AI's production staff can barely remember which camera to go to and when to turn on a mic. I noticed that they got even less technical nominations than they normally do (and we still don't know why they got rid of the old director who was much better, IMO). It's a good thing they added those two new categories (host and clip segment) or the nominee haul would be pretty dismal this year.

Any word on which episode they sent in for submission? I checked at The Envelope and that is one of the few they don't know. I've maintained for years that they should submit one of the Hollywood rounds (Josiah, Syesha, weird cough-drops, etc.), but for some reason, the producers keep ignoring my blog posts (j/k). They always send in one of the performance shows which are nice, but not all that exciting out of context (imagine that is the only episode you watch. Which one would grab you enough to care if you knew nothing about the contestants?).

The episode that TAR sent in features Goths doing yoga, Dad's melting down while hanging posters, hippies making a lei, a type-A trying to give a flower garland to an elephant and people delivering propane with out of control carts. All told in a story. Tough to beat, but I think TAR is vulnerable this year. Too many wins and I think they should have gone with the donkeys.

I think AIs chances are slim. They slipped in the ratings (the Emmies never like that), they slipped on production values (the Emmies never like that either) and they've been nominated too many times. It might be time for Dancing with the Stars.

I’ve maintained for years that they should submit one of the Hollywood rounds (Josiah, Syesha, weird cough-drops, etc.), but for some reason, the producers keep ignoring my blog posts (j/k). They always send in one of the performance shows which are nice, but not all that exciting out of context (imagine that is the only episode you watch. Which one would grab you enough to care if you knew nothing about the contestants?).

The episode that TAR sent in features Goths doing yoga, Dad’s melting down while hanging posters, hippies making a lei, a type-A trying to give a flower garland to an elephant and people delivering propane with out of control carts. All told in a story. Tough to beat, but I think TAR is vulnerable this year. Too many wins and I think they should have gone with the donkeys.

I think AIs chances are slim. They slipped in the ratings (the Emmies never like that), they slipped on production values (the Emmies never like that either) and they’ve been nominated too many times. It might be time for Dancing with the Stars.

The answer it was the editing for that single segment.

Now I can pretend David Cook is nominated for an Emmy.
...Well, close enough. LOL

And I thought it was exceptional editing. Having watched the entire day live on FoxKC.com, the AI editors really did a masterful job conveying the essence of that day.

It's here if anyone wants a reminder:
