Now if the AI directing nomination went to the AI finale I would be all for that. The finale was the most entertaining finale of the season AND it named a new Idol AND it ended on time.

So true – last year I watched for the first time (even then not every week) because of cook and castro.

I’m ok with Ryan’s nomination – I don’t see him at fault for the time issues. However I feel Cat Deely definitely deserves a nomination. I’m not sure why Padma is nominated for Top Chef – the show has a co host as well for pete’s sake. I would replace Padma and Tom with Cat.

I would also replace AI series nomination with So You Think You Can Dance.

Could be. It’s just a little odd that they didn’t reference both hours (the entire two hours is 821/822) while they did with the Phoenix episode (801/802). Might be a typo or the rules might be different for that category. Or, it’s an art direction award so they didn’t need to submit full episodes. IDK.

man, there are so many reality show these days (housewives,model shows, cooking shows, D list celebrities stuck in houses, islands, etc)…its impossible to narrow down one specific personality that would/should deserve an emmy.

I think Ryan deserves the nomination and I think he deserves to win. He does a fantastic job on American Idol year after year. He is great at what he does and keeps the show going.

BTW, does this mean that only the first hour of Michael Jackson night was nominated (Lil, Scott, Danny, Michael, Jasmine and Kris (and possibly Allison since there were 13)) since 822 (second hour) is not mentioned in the nomination?

^ And as such, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences nominate him for an Emmy? because he’s “the bomb”. It’s not like they will give an Idol contestant who didn’t even win Idol an honorary Emmy. Because his very ardent fans consider him “the bomb”. Wow.

In terms of viewership, Adam’s contribution wasn’t significant enough. This year the evening of the final performances had the lowest television ratings ever for an AI final performance.

What Adam did for this show is so amazing!! People(like myself) that never took this cheesy show seriously was so blown away because of Lambert(and him alone). Breaks my heart to see everybody grabbing a piece of him, but Adam is so gracious , humble and mad talented so it won’t affect him at all-might help. I understand that AI is a business but give credit where it’s due.

AI and Ryan were nominated for Emmys last year before they showed a single frame of Adam on the show. AI has been nominated for Emmys for years. I think that they might just deserve the Emmy nominations on their own (except Bruce).

No contestant on AI is eligible to win an Emmy for their role on the show this year. It’s not some sort of exception just to thwart Adam. And every year we get testimonials from people who never watched the show, but got drawn in by such-and-such a contestant.

I’m not really sure what this means, but a) there is no way to add a category in time to either nominate or give any Emmy to Adam Lambert for his performance on AI this season, and b) there is no guarantee, even if you could magically go back in time and bribe and/or drug all the people who run the Academy to add this award for the 2008-2009 season, that they would nominate your beloved bomb. Even if you narrow it down to Reality Show Competitors (as opposed to just people who sold their old pots on “Antiques Road Show”) I still think Joan Rivers, Dennis Rodman, Janice Dickinson, Speidi and that Coach guy from Survivor would be more likely to be nominated than Adam Lambert. If you let in any reality contestants, then the freaks from Jon & Kate Plus 8 have got it in the bag.
