No comments? I’ll start. P2 just tweeted that it was a small crowd but a loud one and they had fun!

It is kind of surprising, I thought people from Utah like singing and dancing ?
and I did not mean that as an insult by the way.

I think based on what was said in the headlines thread yesterday about last minute ticket giveaways, it was expected to be a small crowd.  For whatever reason, SLC wasn’t into Idol this year I guess.  Through from the looks of ticketmaster their next few shows should be way better attended.

I have no recollection of this guy from S11, but I’m assuming he was cut in either Hollywood/Vegas.  He was posting from the show and also posted backstage pics with various idols.

They should have less dates and larger venues strategically spread out. 45 or so dates is way too many, especially when the show’s viewership’s taken a dive.

Kyle Khou auditioned for S11 in Denver/Aspen and was cut in Hollywood.  Judging from his videos on YouTube, he’s pretty good. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s back for S12.

Thanks.  I tend to zone out in the Hollywood rounds so I miss a lot.  I figured since Erika was tweeting him he had to have made it far enough to be someone they knew pretty well.

So far, though, the shows have been at cities a long way apart: Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Kansas City, Denver, Salt Lake City. Next up are Seattle, Portland, and Sacramento. I’m not sure how those could be consolidated to fewer stops without skipping some regions entirely, as people in SLC aren’t going to drive to Denver for a show or vice-versa, Minneapolitans certainly won’t drive to Chicago, and even KC to St. Louis is a haul most people wouldn’t do. There are limits on how far the tour bus driver can go on any leg, so if there weren’t shows, some of these would be additional non-earning nights.

The awkward circling of the mid-Altantic and New England late in the tour, and doing both Los Angeles and Orange County, raise some routing questions with me. But this front half doesn’t seem badly planned.

Also honestly, even without figures, the SLC one is the only one that seemed like it had pretty horrible attendance.  I don’t think the others have been sellouts so far, or even close necessarily, but the crowds haven’t been sparse either.
