I did not find any volunteers to tweet from the American Idol Live show in Lafayette LA, so there will be no live blog.

But I am putting up this post in case ya’ll want to discuss. I feel kinda bad, because tonight is Joshua Ledet’s hometown show, and I have NO doubt he’ll be extra-divtastic because of it!

Love you Joshua!  I will be the first in line when your album hits!

  • dabney c

    I’m second in line! :D

I would like to say I believe that American Idol management is paying someone off to look the other way with everything that Joshua does. If you noticed, in any article, there’s minimum reviews for Joshua or Live reviews. I’m stating that to no disrespect to Colton, Jessica, and Phillip, this is where the spotlight is and for no one to have coverage from his hometown, that is ridiculous.
He did give an overwhelming standing O tonight from his hometown of Louisana.

I don’t think there is any evidence that Joshua’s hometown concert is not being covered by local media or etc.  Just that MJ couldn’t find live tweeters for this particular show, most of which are usually just fans in attendance.  I suspect the turnout for the show was actually quite high, even if there weren’t a lot of people online tweeting during the show.

I can understand Phillip and Jessica getting more solo performances, but can someone explain why Colton also has three solo performances (nothing against Colton).

  • dabney c

From what I’ve seen, the reviews have generally been kind to Josh, placing him in the top 2 or 3 best performers of the show.

Colton appears to be the one they decided to promote this year – they did the same thing last year with Pia.  It kind of backfired on them last year though because it turned some people off and her single flopped.

I think that reviews about Joshua’s performance have been consistently good. And although I found him quite overwhelming during the competition, I now actually find him the best male performer live after attending the AI concert in Ontario, CA.

What puzzles me is I haven’t seen too many videos of him being interviewed behind the scenes of the concerts. Or is it just me..??

“Settle down…etc.” (followed by one chorus of ooooo) rang out at the end of coverage tonight as they previewed tomorrow’s Women’s Gymnastics.

Yeah, I’ve read a handful or reviews and I only remember seeing one bad comment about Joshua. And he gets a standing O every night. I think he’s being pretty well received across the board. Good for him!

  • lovesickheroine

I’ve only read one negative review of Joshua and that was from a critic from San Jose.

Josh, so happy for you! This is great news! Yours is the second cd I’ll be buying!

Reply to Verta Tatum….IMO nothing “just happens”, everything is planned…”

Reply to thirdtime….IMO, with all due respect to Pia, note my second comment….

At the conclusion of Monday night’s Olympic Broadcast, when mentioning tomorrow’s
scheduled events featuring the Women’s Gymnastics Team, the music playing in the
background was “Home” by the talented P2. All of us I believe, can appreciate hearing
this song on broadcast t.v. It was great….

Jacob, a thousand apologies….I was thinking Jacob and typed Josh….

I’m not stating that Joshua is not getting any good reviews, I’m saying that they’re mentioning less of him and more of others which he stands out in every performance no matter if he does background or duets. I would just like to see more reviews from the media like we’ve seen on all the others.
Just go back and look at all the reviews from the Idol tour. He only has one or two lines stating how he brings the house down and how good he is while the others are interviewed and posted on a daily basis.
He’s my favorite but also Skyler is the same way.

Not trying to be overly contrary because in a way I agree with you that somebody like Colton is getting more coverage than Joshua, but in general with the exception of Phil and Jessica (in addition to Colton), I don’t think anybody is getting that much coverage.  Or at the very least no more than Joshua.  They have all gotten their positive and negative reviews, as well as interviews, and in terms of the reviews quite often the reviews give more attention to those they didn’t like than those they did.

  • jr8809

They feel because Colton was such a popular contestant he deserves three selos just like how their was so much emphasis on Pia last year during the tour but as we all know that didn’t really help Pia.

  • jr8809

I don’t think I’ve seen the other contestants get more coverage than Joshua, of course I may be wrong and not been paying that much attention to it. Minus 1 review everything else has been good, even those ppl that didn’t like Joshua before have great things to say about him after seeing the tour.

Phillip’s ‘Home’ is currently sitting at #3 on Itunes. Go gymnastics!

As much as I wish Josh WERE from Lafayette, he’s not. His hometown is Westlake, Louisiana (near Lake Charles) about 80 miles west of Lafayette, Louisiana.

Nevertheless, every Idol fan is Louisiana is so proud of him!!!  My daughter and I were desperate to go see him, but just couldn’t swing it. Hope a video pops up!

  • http://twitter.com/raya4 raya

Do his grandparents (or other family) live closer?  Seems like most of the idols went to the house of one of Josh’s family member’s yesterday for breakfast/lunch.

To be honest, I haven’t seen much coverage of any of the S11 Idols, except for perhaps Phillip, and even he doesn’t seem to be getting the type of coverage Scotty got last year. All I’ve really seen is the occasional newspaper article on Idol XYZ (usually the hometown paper for whatever Idol) and then the concert reviews. Now, granted, I’m not paying very close attention, but it seems like there was more media coverage last year.

Joshua has consistently been singled out in the reviews (along with Phillip, Jessica, and sometimes Colton and/or Skylar) and he seems to be a fan favorite, from the tweets I’ve seen. Hopefully there was a big crowd last night for his homecoming concert.
