American Idol Interested In Jessica Simpson For Judges’ Spot

I know anything is possible, but it would astonish me if they were serious about this. Wonder if they’re putting up decoys for the press? Don’t they realize that they need someone with credibility? They certainly don’t need a carbon copy of Simon, but they do need someone who knows what he or she is talking about. I’m more than willing to give them the benefit of the doubt with the reboot of Idol but not if they put nonsense on that stage.

As I said in the previous thread about Jessica Simpson, Jessica actually has better qualifications for Idol judge position than Ellen. I mean it, Jess released 5 studio albums in her career. So, as far as I’m concerned, she can replace Ellen. But not Kara.

This just can’t be true! Paula Abdul had actual hit songs and records, Emmys and a Grammy! Jessica Simpson’s sister seems to have had more success musically than Jessica herself. I guess this is what self-sabotage looks like, huh? Just think of a panel consisting of Randy, Ellen, Kara and Jessica Simpson. Now think of yourself changing the channel….

Jaysus Tap Dancing Keerighst. So Harry Connick Jr has publicly stated that he would like to be on the judge’s panel but that no one has asked him. Bret Michaels has publicly stated that AI execs have talked to him about being a judge and he would be interested. Either of them would be infinitely better than Jessica effing Simpson. Honestly, if it comes to that, I believe I will finally really truly be done with this show.

Seriously? I really thought this was Jessica’s dadager trying to make her seem relevant.

This is a terrible idea. Jessica’s music career lately is most known for the floppage including her not being able to remember lyrics and starting over songs……something even Paula says is a huge no no. She doesn’t even know how to use her voice right and she has no idea who she is as an artist which is why she’s gone from copying Britney/Christina and failing to copying Carrie and failing to who knows what now. She hasn’t really succeeded at any of that except when she had her ditz promotion for Newlyweds. She’s actually less credible than Ellen because at least Ellen is not an unprofessional laughing stock at what she does. Jessica’s not even a ratings draw on TV anymore. Her VH1 reality show did not do well. Fantasia’s ratings were higher.

I’d rather have Paula back than have to deal with Jessica Simpson and that’s REALLY saying something because I DON’T want Paula back.

I don’t care how many albums she put out, none of her songs were popular hits. Her main claim to fame is as eye candy. Album sales were probably just excuses for folks to feel they were closer to her, the better to fantasize by. If AI really wants to go down that road, it will be where I finally leave them and go on another, less superficial one. Yuck, just yuck. Just the thought of it, leaves a nasty aftertaste.

Messica Simpson is a joke and not respected in either the music industry or the entertainment industry as a whole. Her movies are crap and go straight to DVD, and her music does not sell. She is famous for being famous on her cheesy reality show, but she would NOT be qualified to be an American Idol judge. I would be so pissed if she got the slot over more deserving candidates with ACTUAL music careers.

TPTB at Idol have done some things in the past that made me suspicious they were BSC, but if they are really serious about Jessica Simpson I’m totally sure of it this time.

I absolutely LOATHE Jessica Simpson. I prefer anyone else over her. There HAS to be a better choice. I don’t think she would have anything to offer the show or to boost ratings. In fact, I think people would definitely feel that American Idol is now a joke, if Jessica is taking Simon’s place on the judging panel.

She has more music credibility than Ellen. I think judges sugarcoating was sorely missed this last season-Ellen tried, but it wasn’t as nice or encouraging as Paula. I think Jessica would do just that-be encouraging like Paula, and would give the contestants more of a confidence booster.

Being a betting women I would say that 95% of Idol fans would flip their lids if Jessica showed up on the idol judges panel. The girl has an IQ of less than rock, she’s as boring as a biddy old math professor, and her looks (what people said she had) are fading pretty rapidly.

I think TMZ is laughing all the way to the bank as they “panic” the AI world with this tidbit. But, if it is true, at least I’ll be free on Tuesday and Wednesday nights to tweeze my eyebrows and shave my legs…and those things will be a lot more fun than watching AI.

Imagine being a contestant and having Jessica Simpson critiquing you? Giving advice? No, not sure she is relevant enough for the job.
Whomever they choose, I hope it’s someone respected in the business, modern, current and relevant.

I’m sure she’s just a decoy candidate. No one really cares what Jessica thinks about another person’s singing ability, so no one would watch a crappy show that had her on the panel.

I guess I am not as hard on Jessica as others. Would I want to see her as permanent replacement judge? No, no way. However, thinking about some of the Guest Judges appearing at the auditions, she might do okay.

Why are all these leaks coming out 5 weeks before the actual announcement? Gee, do you think Idol wants us to talk, talk, talk? They are succeeding.

FOX and Fuller are trying to save the show. Let’s be real: With Sony walking away from Idol, Fremantle will not be far behind. Nigel will be running the Titanic after the iceberg hit. So, what does he do? Send up truckloads of trial balloons to keep Idol in the news. Simpson has as much chance of being a judge as I do.

If Lythgoe is smart, he will go after Gladys Knight and Ryan Cayabyab. Forget names for names sake. Go after people who are not only known, but respected as having relevant knowledge. Doing something like this would only re-invigorate the show and put Simon Cowell at a disadvantage.

I could possibly see her being a guest judge but Simon’s replacement? Ugh. I mean how is she even relevant now? Has she done any new music lately? Or had any other projects going on? I don’t think she has any credibility.
