David could be the best of the night — and not my fav Idol.

If the Anoop/Megan duet rumor is true…that should be interesting. I really want him to have a duet/solo. It will definitely be interesting to see how their voices sound together since they have such different styles and sounds. Also, it’s really funny that they might be singing this song since that tabloid rumor came out about them dating. Too funny.

I’d bet a million that Allison is getting signed also. She’s young, cute and has a very distinctive sound. And I think that’s it.

I would be really disappointed if Jason Mraz is doing I’m Yours with Anoop and Megan. I love Megan (yeah, I know, I’m the only one) but she kinda became a joke to most people in the end and Anoop didn’t fare much better and I was hoping Mraz was going to get something better. I don’t know if Lil will get a solo, or a duet. If Idol were being fair they would give her once since Scott, and Megan who finished 8th and 9th place are getting duets. It’s possible that she could maybe get one with Queen Latifah.

But I remember last year that Carly and Michael got to do a duet at 6th and 8th place and Kristy Lee Cook who went out at 7th, like Lil did this year, didn’t get one. Dial Idol does NOT have Kris winning. Their official statement is “too close to call”. If they were declaring Kris the winner, his name would be in GREEN and Adam’s name would be in RED. As is stands now, they’re both in YELLOW with the slimmest of margins.

OK, not as craptacular as this one is, but still. She did say, in some desparate post-Idol interview somewhere, that Idol tells the songwriters exactly what they want. They are told just what type of song the producers want and are required to produce it.

That certainly doesn’t excuse this pathetic piece of shit passing itself off as music but maybe it explains why they are always so awful.

I say have another songwriting contest but blow it wide open. Only criteria is that it’s a “celebratory” song. Post the top 100 online for a month before the season even starts. Help build some buzz. Then the producers pick from the top 10. Make it so you only get one vote per person or e-mail address.

Maybe, just maybe, we might actually get something worth listening to.

I don’t really get this “count the states” thing. Some states are really big, others are small…some probably have more Idol voters than others…who cares if one guy wins 20 states and the other 25, or whatever?

You would have to figure out the percentage of people in each state who vote, and how many people are in each state, and weigh the states based on these calculations, before a state by state comparison would be meaningful.

Winning North Dakota is not the same as winning Texas; there are many more votes to be had in Texas.

Ok, I agree that “No Boundaries” was no great piece of art. The words were way too schmaltzy and there were way too many of them. But it wasn’t thaaaat bad, give Kara a break. This coronation song is just silly anyway, and this one is no worse than “This is My Now”, a couple years back. It gets quickly released, given a little early summer airplay, and shelved. On to the album and better songs, so it’s no big deal.

I just think they should do away with it next year, unless they get a really good one. First off, it’s so generic and not tailored to the eventual winner because when it’s written the winner is not known. So it’s only luck if it does fit vocally or otherwise. And forcing the contestants to sing an unknown song that stretches their abilities is painful, for the one singing it, and us, the audience. If they want a quick single to release to capitalize on the season’s ends, let the winner pick another favorite of theirs, sing that as their coronation song, and go with it.

It’s one change that Idol could make that would stop this end of season crapfest and pile on over this song.

Mark does the weather and some entertainment segments for myfoxla…and he is the announcer guy they used this year to introduce the judges. I am not convinced that his tweet was a clue to “Sweet.” (He also kind’ve sounds like the guy on the recording you hear when voting “thanks for voting for contestant one…” but that may just be b/c I was on overload last night!)

Yeah, if the contestant could choose their own coronation song, it’ll be good. Somebody in the Results blog entry suggested Adam’s Pop Goes The Camera as his coronation song instead. I took a listen, and it’s way better, with cool lyrics too.

I dunno, could be just me, but really, having a song with so much lyrical meaning behind ought to have a simple melody to back it up. No Melody is like masking a excellent fish with too much sauce, you taste only the sauce (the vocal acrobatics) and can’t appreciate the fish. I liked the lyrics when I read it, but I mostly remember only the faulty delivery from both guys. (You gotta admit even Adam had a few off notes there)

Am I the only one on the planet that could care less about all of this crappy “entertainment” tonight? LOL. Well, Aerosmith is about to go on tour starting June 10th with ZZ Top. Maybe they are up for a bit of a pre-tour blitz (not that they need the advertising) or maybe ZZ will tell them it was kind of fun.

Ok, still don’t like NB, but upon second (third, fourth) viewing Adam did as much with that song as anyone could. Does anyone else think he particularly sounded like Freddy Mercury when he’s singing “every step we climb another mountain” in the latter half of the song?

Last night was the lowest rated finale ever.

I’m not too surprised. However, I am surprised that the DWTS finale had only 3 million views less than idol. Really?

ETA: Too bad they couldn’t bring Jesse or Felicia back on stage instead of Tatiana. Of course, they might outshine some of the top 12 and we wouldn’t want that….

yeah. when i listened to it again this morning and focused on adam instead of trying to figure out what the hell he was saying, he did a pretty great delivery of it. and when it comes down to it, i think it is better some of the shitty songs that are out there. not good enough for either of these guys but better than lots of the crap floating around the airwaves.

i want a tie. and then i want them to tour together forever. they can be “life (music) partners” :wub_tb:

At least tonight’s results show sounds far more interesting than last night’s. I thought Adam and Kris both sang very well with the first 4 songs, but that No Boundaries dreck was terrible. Obviously written with Adam and Danny in mind. I felt bad for Kris, he was really struggling I thought. But I loved his What’s Going On the most.

I am so excited to see Anoop on stage again! And if it’s true that he and Megan are dueting, I think that will be fantastic! Megan was not the best singer, but I like her funny personality and spunk. As for the dating rumour, I kind of hope it’s true! They are both hot people and deserve to have some fun

I think everyone’s reading too much into “clues”.

My predictions:
- I think Adam will duet with Kiss.
- The winner will have to sing “No Boundries”. They’ve already recorded it to be released to itunes as soon as the winner is announced.
- Only the top 5 will get duets.
- Matt and Scott will have a dueling piano duet ala Elton John/Billy Joel.
- Poor Jason Mraz will get the shaft.
- IF Anoop and Megan do a song with Jason, it will be “Lucky”.
- There will be lots of confetti.

Spring2009, I think your right. Kris unfortunately is kind of a cookie cutter singer. Nothing really special and we have plenty of his type of singers out there. I don’t see him up there with Mayer and Mraz. He may stay around for an album but I just don’t see him going any further. But yes, we can say he was the cookie cutter AI singer that they wanted. Good luck marketing him for a long period of time. I think Simon knew this all along but he wasn’t able to pull it off to get Adam the win.

All I can say is I hope Kris is able to change that song around or he will be the joke of the top 40 because that song isn’t going anywhere unless they yank it apart totally and start fresh. I don’t think that would be fair as both were judged on that crappy song. So who knows, AI never does things according to plan.

What striked me when I saw the geopredictions for DI is the clear division between blue and red states:
map 1 and map 2.

It doesn’t look too skewed with red/blue to me.

Kris won 11 blue states, 8 red states.

Adam won 17 blue states, and 10 red states.

that’s a quick count, my numbers could be off a little, but it’s not too bad.

And I also like as someone suggested the thought of Rod Stewart being the male singer that all the male contestants perform with. That would be awesome IMO.

I’m supposed to be working but I keep thinking about tonight’s results.

There are several people/firms with a really good track record of predicting AI Results:
3 have Adam with the win.
5 have it too close to call, around 1% of the vote separating them.

There are two other data-based forecasts that are I didn’t include above (and which I don’t put much stock in):

Dial Idol — too close to call. The only source that has even a numeric lead for
Kris, 1.1%, within their margin of error.

MediaCurves.com conducted a large, invitation-only online poll with a random
sample of AI viewers on Tuesday and found 58% Adam Lambert should win
and 42% say Kris Allen should win.

I can’t find any poll or data-based forecast that has Kris with a statistically significant lead.

My predictions:

1. A record vote — over 130 million votes.

2. Ryan tells us that less than 1 million vote separate Kris and Adam.

3. The data appears to favor Adam but I believe it could go either way.

4. If Kris wins, there will be a Standards & Practices investigation of Idol voting just like in Season 2, Clay v. Ruben.

If Dial Idol matters, Adam won the states that add up to the most population — CA, Fl, NY, IL, etc.

Kris won a few big states — TX, OH, but mostly won small states.

And, yes, I am a stat nerd and added up the population of the states based of DI Geopredictions. I hope it’s right, because Adam won by a mile. I DO NOT THINK IT’S RIGHT.

Dial Idol is not useful IMHO because they make very few calls. Lil, for example, had the highest DI score on Top 7.2 but ended up in the bottom 3

I’m also surprised that they didn’t let the Idols re-work No Boundaries (no melody, no hook, no fun, no kidding…).

I expected Kris to strip it down. Just him and his guitar with maybe some bass and a backbeat on the drum box. More subtle. Less whatever the hell it was.

I agree that Adam did as much as possible with the song but I’d have like to see him re-arrange it as well. Slow it down a little so the words aren’t so jumbled. Clean it up so that his amazing vocals shine through.

And where was the choir? Isn’t it Idol tradition to have a big-ass choir for the celebration song? It certainly wouldn’t have hurt.

Oh, and shoot whoever is in charge of the sound mix this year. Or, you know, lock them in a room with Kara and make them listen to her sing No Boundaries for a couple of weeks! :flush_tb:

You know, as much as we love the boys and want whoever wins to do well, if people don’t buy the single, maybe the show will get the message that the song sucks.

As far as the media is concerned Kris is destined either to be the plucky runner up who grew in confidence and proved he belonged on the big stage or the Christian-voter-backed winner who is overshadowed by the more charismatic runner up.

IMO Kris did the most important thing he could do last night by showing he belonged on the big stage. The media doesn’t think he got blown out of the water by Adam and some are even giving him 1 of the 2 rounds (not counting the last round because of the terrible song). Kris needed to do that. He impressed me last night not only by proving his musical and vocal chops but by not being overwhelmed by the big stage and the big audience. That proved he’s more than your average coffeehouse singer. If he does win the fact that he rose to the occasion will have played a part.

What last night didn’t change is most of the media’s belief that Adam is the star of the season and should win. I think Adam should win too. Kris is the more traditional AI story of a small town humble guy next door who makes good. Adam is a new story of a flashy new talent that is different than anything AI has ever seen. IMO Kris will grow in more traditional ways and I believe he could have a respectable career touring and making good music without making a big dent in the pop culture radar. Adam will grow in the sense that it isn’t as obvious what kind of album he’ll put together. It might be really trendy except it’ll be one of the best voices out there and Adam is more likely to make some noise in the pop culture radar.

I don’t buy a lot of trendy albums and I think I’m more likely to buy a Kris album than an Adam album. But based on his voice Adam winning is the only outcome that makes sense to me.

Well Adam won twice as many high population east coast states AND he won the entire west coast (also highly populated).

But yes, we can say he was the cookie cutter AI singer that they wanted.

Everyone’s entitled to an opinion, and I have to disagree completely with this one. I’m no Kris fan. I voted for him exactly one time, last night as a test txt to see if I’d receive the confirmation for him that, like the one for Adam votes, never came ’til this a.m. But, he’s no cookie cutter, imo.

Aside from the obvious, that people’s tastes differ, Kris stands out as very creative in this season, but he would have shone more brightly without the Adam glare (and I mean that in the most fantastic way possible for Adam. LOL) In other words, against the backdrop of the Adam show, where the visual seemed to matter nearly as much as the audio and where even the soft, slow songs were BIG, Kris may seem bland when really he’s not.

Ok, enough ramble. Just thought I’d throw that out there fwiw.

Magic Rainbow is the little song that could. And yes all the coronations songs past have been Uber Cheesefests.

But none of them were tuneless non melody word salad disasters like No Boundaries. More like No Melodies.

I am going to predict that the coronation single by Kris is going to sell way less than anything of Adams. Hence the beginning of the end for Kris. Will be see the sales of the itunes singles once this is over?

Am at peace with whatever the outcome is, knowing Kris has gotten respect for performing last night, and for his whole body of work on the show. Can’t wait for the tour. I just want him to really shine tonight, pressure off, and enjoy just singing his little heart out.
Was thinking he might be like Kurt Warner going to the Super Bowl last year. No one gave him a chance, but he left the field with his head held high and made it an exciting game, though in the end he did not win. For weeks his gracious-loser self was everywhere, smiling and congratulating the winner, and cute as a button, I might add, dancing on the Ellen show. Everyone wanted him on their post-game shows because he was so darn nice and sweet in defeat, though he tried so hard to win and for a while he seemed to have the momentum in the game. That is how I picture Kris, if it does not go his way tonight.

I only know a few things for sure:

I am really looking forward to seeing Adam perform tonight without having him worry about the vote.

I will buy Adam stuff — I want but a coat like Adam’s. I can’t wait see an Adam Lambert concert.

I love that Adam takes advantage of all the staging ideas that are usually reserved for guest artists. It was like an Adam concert on MW. I guess last night is also what a Kris concert will be like. Both great, just polar opposites.

I’ll go with Adam for the win tonight. I think he had the edge vocally, and the judges gave Kris the faint praise treatment.

I can’t say that the Kris/Keith Urban sounds that exciting, compared to what they will set up for Adam with whoever.

I hope Kris wins. And I could care less about the last song. It was not good for anyone. Kris has a album of his own with great songs that he has written and I for one will be glad after this is all over and and I can buy it. The producers didn’t “give” Adam anything – he asked. The others could have asked as well. They did not. That is where Adam’s theatre experience has paid off…

According to a recent interview with Adam, it was NOT the producers giving it to him over the other. It was ADAM requesting it! He puts a LOT of thought into every performance and personally requests how he wants his staging and lighting and the crew works with him.

Everyone else could have done the same thing but they didn’t. It’s not Adam or the producers fault that they didn’t take advantage of it.

Which interview was that? I want to hear/see it! If that’s true…then poor Kris. I admire him for going ahead with it, though. He definitely gave it his all. :/

DI is playing it safe issuing a statement talking about how it is to close to call, but Kris held a lead the whole night. Perez made an intresting point that the past three winners were the most searched idols leading up to the finale… if that’s the case Adam will win.

Geez, what happened? I couldn’t get in here for awhile. That’s never happened to me this early in the day.

Anyway, I think I’m going to enjoy the finale as always, but I’m not really that excited about it. I really don’t care who wins.

For me, I’m happy to see Santana, David Cook, Keith Urban, Cyndi Lauper, and Adam’s duet (if it’s not with KISS). I’m actually looking forward to the group songs… I know, they’re cheesy, but I love ‘em.

If the gloved one shows up Idol has turned AI into a freak show and stooped to the lowest of lows to up viewership.

Really, who wants to see Michael Jackson? He’ll be wearing a hat, bandana on his face, an overcoat he borrowed from a beggar on Wilshire Blvd, sunglasses and bedrooms slippers.

No link, my uncle told me. We’re both Kris fans, so we might be biased. Adam didn’t seem to get a chance to do his thing with that song, either. He also said Kara told Kris he couldn’t lower the key, but the judges told him he should have after the performance. Unsure.

But seriously, Kara should probably move to Mars for that song. Adam and Kris both sucked with it. Adam was trying too hard to make it his but it didn’t work (I blame Kara), and Kris tried to add melody but struggled.

The one thing I liked about the song? It made me not care who wins because the winner will get stuck with a pile of poop song tonight, but if forced to sing it on Tour they’ll probably have a shot at rearranging it.

I’m still pulling for a Kris win, but it seems like DialIdol is the only thing giving me hope, and with its inaccuracy this season, I’ll be somewhat disappointed. I also want to beat my sister up because she keeps yelling “YOU LIKE BOYS” when he comes on, which kinda makes me want Kris to win even more.

As for the teenybopper/tween vote, I checked my kiddo’s Girl’s Life.com and the comments were pretty evenly split between Adam and Kris. I think this one will be insanely close.
I could really see both of these guys doing well for themselves post idol. They both have something special and compelling.

Re: Adam’s performance last night — he downed his up with a mediocre performance and singing. He was either worn out or the thrill of Idol is gone.

I was reading some of the above posts and I have a comment about Kris Allen and his “cookie cutter” idol image. He is a “cookie cutter” idol, but that is a good thing! He didn’t have a successful career staring in Broadway productions across the country, he is the perfect example of what idol is supposed to do, DISCOVER UNDISCOVERED TALENT.

I love both boys, I really do. I would buy both albums. However, I really think that Kris would benefit more greatly from winning American Idol. Also with that said to claim that Kris won’t be as successful that’s just silly. I mean the coffee-house singer is VERY relevant in this market place. To claim that one Kris will just fade into oblivion is not fair because we have only seen a small blip of his talent spectrum. We have no seen his original music, or heard what he could produce if given lots of support.

I feel strangely the same as I did last year towards these two boys. I loved Archie…totally understood WHY people liked him, but my heart was with Cook. I just completely connected with him as a person and loved his choices.

Similarly, I feel the same with Kris and Adam. I totally get why people like Kris, but Adam is my Idol. It’s nice though…I don’t think that Kradam fans feel the need to break each other down…it’s kind of a nice marriage of fandom! Not like Gokey!!! Hahaha!

Kris forgot the lyrics and was all over the place on his vocals. It was a mess.

The song itself is a mess. I think Adam did the better job with it.

So did Bo Bice with his Inside Your Heaven. Kris only missed one line (I think?). Both Kris and Adam were all over the place vocally, I was quite surprised Adam did that bad. And I think Kris did better on that song.

I’m not embracing it either but I am saying that I think it’s a good thing that he’s more or less the “typical” idol contestant. It was only in relation to his experience and not in relation to his performance style or talent.

I was just using a term that was suggested for him before. That is why in my previous post I put the cookie-cutter in quotations. I did not coin the term in relation to him.

Sorry if this posts seems pointless, I’m just trying to clarify.

I though they both did OK.

Adam seemed to be holding back for fear that he would go to OTT on Mad World, but I loved “A change is Gonna Come”.

Kris did fine with “Ain’t No Sunshine” but I really wasn’t impressed with his “What’s Going On”. I think I am not alone on this having read so many Kris fans saying this was a bad song choice. I assume that they wouldn’t say that I they thought he did well on it.

The final song was bad. No one would sound good singing this. And the lyrics were just plan stupid. Like some kind of weird mash up of lyrics from a bunch of different songs. IMHO Adam was less bad on this.

Finally, I can’t believe that they only had the song for about 36 hours before the show. It’s a song with no hook and it’s jammed with tough lyrics. Maybe next time they’ll get Paul McCartney to write them something — a simple, memorable jingle.

Mandalay, I saw him about 8 months ago on some show which I cant remember, maybe the Grammy’s and he was sensational. He looked good and he sounded great.

I think Adam deserves the win, but honestly I don’t really care. I too would not buy Kara’s song and I don’t think he wants that to be his first single. I’d much rather hear something better in a few months.

He’d still get 4 songs instead of 5 on tour for the winner and he gets a record contract. Good enough for me. I can leave the concert early and get to my car. I only want to hear Adam, Allison, Anoop and Matt anyway.

Adam can use the “poor guy who made the season but lost” sentiment to his benefit too. I think it helped Archie last year; especially with people who resented him for being too overpimped.

I do not want to watch the Today Show concert and see Adam perform Boundaries. I’d rather watch Kris try and do it after Adam kills on some fun song. I can’t wait for the tour reviews. I think Matt is going to surprise everyone, and will get a lot of mentions.

Ok I just watched the entire show, I was too nervous to watch earlier so I just did adam songs, and I ca safely say that Adam’s rendition of “A change is gonna come” is the best version I have ever heard of the song barring Cook himself. He made my contract with the pain and anguish of the song. I loved it!!
Kara’s song improves, ever so slightly on second listen where this morning I thought it was the musical equivalent of waterboarding I now see it more as sleep depravation.

Kris’ “Ain’t no sunshine” was magical.

He didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t have a successful career staring in Broadway productions across the country, he is the perfect example of what idol is supposed to do, DISCOVER UNDISCOVERED TALENT.

I don’t recall Adam being in any Broadway production’s he was in the LA production of a Broadway musical (there’s a difference) .. plus I understood that he was an understudy .. so not exactly staring. To most people outside of the LA area and who don’t go to the theatre and the Upright Cabaret I would imagine that Adam wasn’t known .. so he is just as much entitled to be discovered on a show like AI as someone who plays regularly in any club circuit in their home town or area.

Kris summed it up perfectly in the pre finale press conference by saying that he had just as much experience as Adam just in a different genre of performing.

Sunn – comparing Kara’s song to torture. And levels of torture at that. I like that. (in my warped and snarky way).

I rather like the idea of Adam losing now. He will be able to perform whatever he wants on the interview shows and won’t have Kara’s song to weigh him down. Hmmmm – I’m suddenly feeling much happier about this possibility.

Yes, the winner’s song sucks, but it always sucks. Why are folks like Nigel so surprised by this? I don’t see the need to beat Kara into the ground for this, though I do wonder how she could come up with something so bad when the stuff she writes for Kelly Clarkson is pretty damn good.

They need to dump the winner’s song, period.

Sorry to be pedantic but a Broadway production is a a show on Broadway, if it’s performed outside of Broadway then it’s not a Broadway production, it’s just an off-broadway production of a Broadway Show, ie LA production, Chigago production.

Your point seemed to be that Adam was already discovered, when basically he was just doing a day to day slog as an also ran in the entertainment business, just like Matt in his piano bars. I’m sure that before Idol Adam was just a legend in his own lunchbox and I don’t see why it should be thought by many that people don’t have just as much right to be discovered on AI as other people who play regularly in bars and clubs.

I am afraid Kara and American Idol raised the expectations on the coronation song this season and I submit coronation songs do not have to be sappy or difficult to sing. I mean we kept hearing about things were going to be tweaked and changed to make AI better than last year now that Nigel is gone. No wonder he is trashing it publicly.
He is saying, between the lines, just try and go platinum with that.

It seems to me the song was slapped together so recently that Kradam didn’t even have time to master that thing and there is just no excuse for that.

Lastly as someone kindly noted on another thread, Canadian Idol has actually had some decent coronation songs so it can be done and I wonder if those folks that watch other versions of Idol can attest to the same.

Given the US is a leader in providing the globe with incredible music how is a decent coronation song that elusive?

And hello, a great coronation song means more money for the people who own American Idol. If they sell X number of copies if it is shlock, they can sell a couple times X if it was actually good and give their winner an even bigger entree into the world of radioplay. Just seems like common sense to put some effort into it.

Or just skip the coronation song entirely and have the Top 10 working with real songwriters and they each do up their first single and then in the finale both finalists do their proposed first single. Now that would make the finale performance night already 10 times more interesting.

I would also suggest maybe having a Viewer’s Choice as one of the songs performed on finale night as well.

You know, for all the talk of Adam’s experience, Kris HIMSELF said that he has just as much experience as Adam: he’s been in a band, performing small gigs. He doesn’t have as much stage experience, but he’s also had more experience at being a musician and taking control of his own music rather than performing to a script.

I’m trying really hard to get excited about this possible duet thing.

I am so glad that tonight is the last night of Idol for the year. By this time, every year, I am so sick of all the “psuedo drama” that oozes around the show and can’t wait for it all to dissolve like Adam’s fog last night.

The “good” singers and entertainers have accomplished their realistic goals. They have gotten their name and image out, to not only the public, but the individuals and corporations that can assist them the most in the coming months and years. They’ve gotten one little toe that is holding the door open wedged into a spot. Whether they won or lost this is really all they can ask. The only tangible thing that any of them receive from Idol is the small equity compensation they get from any Itune sales and the hard earned salary they will receive from this summer’s tour.

Everything else is up to them. Even the winner is not guaranteed a single, solitary thing other than a one year management and recording contract. If they don’t perform, or if they don’t “sell” they are history. No one is given a million dollars like the Survivor winner for doing nothing. Only through their own hard work and diligence and fortitude are they going to succeed.

Both of the Davids have been working their butts off to try and stay afloat in these very miserable economic times. Neither one has really had any time since last May to enjoy any fruits they may be receiving from their labors. They know and can tell Adam and Kris and maybe Allison how much real work goes into every day of their lives. We seem to think that the battle is over when the confetti flies tonight. Well, I feel pretty comfortable in thinking that the last 6 stressful months will seem like a breeze for Adam and Kris when they measure them against what they will be facing for the next year or two.

Kudos to everyone of these kids who gave something of themselves so that I could enjoy the last few months. And I wish them smooth sailing and I really hope that they will reap some reward for all the fantastic crap that they have had to endure.

well, let’s see. i would say the highlights were:

- more talk about being relieved and proud and “no breath left” when they saw the crowd

- when asked what was the “worst thing said to them by the judges tonight” kris said “maybe what simon said about the key being too high” and adam said “simon saying MW reminded him of phantom…” to which he added that “every pop concert i’ve ever been to has smoke machines and elevators etc etc” so when he “found he had those at his disposal he wanted to go for it” and the interviewer said “oh yeah, everyone has those things at their disposal (haha) at which point adam went in to talking about singing in front of his mirror with a hair brush and the humidifier and saying “i am that pop star” (you are honey, you are!)

- then kris talked about playing michael jackson in front of the mirror with a hat and dancing and that “it was ugly”

- then she talked about how MJ might be there tonight and that katie holmes and suri were in the house and they were surprised because they are “kept under wraps” but seemed to have genuine fan moments

- then she asked if they duke it out or battle back stage and kris pretend put up his dukes and then cracked “i cant even pretend to fight” and then adam said “yeah i chase him around with nail polish and say COME ON JUST ONE NAIL KRIS” (way cute!).

- then she brought up jamie foxx wanting to do a duet with kris and kris said “gimme a call jamie!”

….then an interview with paula, kara and ryan, but nothing really new there.

You know, after watching and listening No Boundaries song again, Adam’s version doesn’t sound so bad after all. He actually sang it well and it sounded good.

I guess I was expecting more of a slower schmaltzy song like Kelly’s Moment Life This (which I think was the best song out all 8 seasons), so I couldn’t connect to Kara’s song at all.

Maybe if the back up singers weren’t so loud in the beginning and they slowed it down a little, it would sound better. The background singers left Kris alone – why do they have to ruin Adam’s songs?

I can’t imagine either of the guys having a “moment” while singing this after winning. Well, I guess we don’t have a choice, damn it, and neither did they!

I dunno, could be just me, but really, having a song with so much lyrical meaning behind ought to have a simple melody to back it up. No Melody is like masking a excellent fish with too much sauce, you taste only the sauce (the vocal acrobatics) and canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t appreciate the fish.

The only thought I’m left with after hearing that song (aside from “OMG WTF is that crap?!? I think I just had an aneurism…”) is “Hurricanes, okay – but what about the tornados, earthquakes & tsunamis? What about Global Thermonuclear War?” Somehow I don’t think that was the intention.

I like this idea. A lot. I saw V.R. in concert last year and it was really amazing (and this, coming from someone who has never been a giant G’n'R or STP fan). Adam on stage with that band might cause me to faint.

Exactly! Perhaps the contestants were not specifically told that they *could* ask, but that should not stop any of them from at least giving it a try, since the worst TPTB would do is say no. Adam’s theatre background has given him lots of ideas, why should he not use them if he can? He ought not to be blamed if the others weren’t able to come up with anything comparable. Gokey’s harp, anyone?

Finally, I canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t believe that they only had the song for about 36 hours before the show. Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a song with no hook and ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s jammed with tough lyrics.

I know, ridiculous!! In light of that fact, I’d say they both did a pretty frikkin’ admirable job of remembering *any* of those damn lyrics! Still doesn’t make it (the song) right, LOL. Kara Kara Kara (and the two other writers)…

Princessmela – re: Adam in Wicked. I believe Adam was in the touring production of Wicked, BUT he was an understudy, which means for the most part (as he stated in an interview), he was “the tall guy in the back”. So even if the show toured every single city in every single state in the U.S., that still does not mean that Adam would have been noticed at all. An understudy only performs “the big role” when/IF the main person is unable to perform on a particular night (to my limited understanding of the performing arts).

Lavender1960 – re: Canadian Idol coronation songs. I’ve watched every season of Canadian Idol (and for the record, I have been much more impressed, in general, with the Canadian talent than that which has appeared on A.I., but that is neither here nor there), and I have actually liked the winners’ songs – particularly Kalan Porter’s. Incidentally, Kalan’s coronation song debuted at No.1 on the Cdn. charts and stayed there for 8 weeks; became the biggest-selling debut single by a Canadian artist in the history of the Canadian charts. Maybe us Canadians are easier to please or just really like large doses of fromage (which is quite possible, considering how many Canadians love Celine Dion), but I think there’s a lesson in there somewhere, for A.I.
