American Idol Feud: There Was Always Hostility Between Nicki and Mariah

E News talks to sources about the Nicki/Mariah bustup:

But despite other reports claiming the two women were initially getting along, a source tells E! News, “There was always hostility between the two.”

“Mariah made it clear that she wanted to be the only woman on the [judges'] panel,” adds the source. “And Nicki felt Mariah was being passive-aggressive with comments toward her.”

According to the source, tensions were building since the beginning “because Nicki felt as if Mariah was trying to relegate her, and it culminated/exploded in the scene that was leaked.” (A clip from auditions in Charlotte shows Minaj threatening to “knock [Mariah] out” and saying, “If you’ve got a f–king problem, handle it!”)

After the video was leaked, Idol had a meeting (with both Nicki and Mariah present) where a source said “they agreed to move forward in a positive light and not speak about the incident to the press.”

So when Mariah told Barbara Walters Nicki said she would shoot her if she had a gun, Nicki “felt blindsided,” says a source. “Hence why Nicki went to Twitter to express her shock. She feels Mariah is trying to get sympathy by saying she threatened to shoot her, and that the incident never happened.”

I wonder how Idol brass feels about Mariah talking to Barbara Walters? I’ll bet Nigel Lythgoe is beside himself that he’s lost total control of the situation. FOX honchos can’t be too happy about that.

    Don’t really have a horse in this race, but I did watch the clip from The View.  Babs said she called Mariah, not the other way around. I suppose Mariah could have said “no comment.” 

    I’m starting to think Idol is jumping the shark.  Poor Keith Urban.

    If anyone thought Mariah was going to let it go that she was cussed out in front of basically the whole world at this point, they are a fool. I have a relative I don’t speak to now after they were cursing at my house. Mariah has way more ego – its on.

    I don’t think the cursing is the reason why she spoke to Barbara Walters.  I think that it’s a combination of Mariah not wanting Nicki on the show, Nigel coming out and saying that Mariah’s people lied about Nicki threatening her, and if Nicki is telling the truth, the producers saying that Nicki is one of the best judges that they’ve ever had, out weighed any cursing.

    LOL, I’ve had people curse at me, but that didn’t lead to me going off on a vendetta against people.  Here, the cursing is being used as an excuse to justify behavior that will just end up hurting everyone.

     Yeah right. 18mil to sit on her ass for two nights a week for 3 or 4 months? Wish some job would screw me over that way.  The woman’s a egocentric diva.  The only one on that table getting screwed over is Keith.

    Basically its all FOX fault. Mariah clearly indicated that she didnot want any woman judge when she join the panel. (We all know that) But Fox want to had another woman judge to spice up thing and maybe to boost rating if both of them fught and leaked it to TMZ like Nigel did.

    But they didnot expect it to become this ugly.

    The producer and Fox can always find a men judge who can gain younger audiences. But they choose Nicki who is also explosive and unpredictable.

    Serve Idol producer and FOX right. They want a spectacle for this season 12 and they sure get one. (though not the way they like it)

    This pretty much cements a WGWG winning again this year. If the divas can’t handle each other, imagine the divas in training feeling the bus early on so Mariah doesn’t have to be bothered by them.

     I KNOW he has, lolol… I’m a ride or die longtime Mariah stan, but I’m no apologist for her. She she ain’t no angel, or all lightness and butterflies. You don’t get to be MARIAH CAREY being a wimp or a pushover or weak. I admire tough, business savvy strong women with real talent, like her. People have let her looks and kinda ditzy persona fool them into thinking she’s an airhead. Mimi ain’t nobody’s fool, she don’t take no shorts or shit from anybody – and she has clout and a lot of respect in the industry by people in some very high places. Nicki and Nigel best be careful how they step to Mariah. She’s not about to be played by either one of them.

    Unless it was in Mariah’s contract she has no right to pick how many judges, etc.  If they told her only 3 and she was the only female, I can see being mad.  Supposedly Paula was fired for being to hard to handle so they hire a well known diva or two??  They got what they asked for.

    If Mariah can’t handle Nicki being in the same room because she is a “girl”, how do you anticipate she is going to handle the top 12 females? God help any of them that try to sing one of her songs.

    Even before the judges were announced, I predicted Idol was looking for a fabulous African American girl.  I still stand by that prediction.  Nigel may nudge them into behaving when selecting the TOP 24.
