American Idol just filmed a Taylor Hicks show in Las Vegas last week as well.  I think this will be part of a ‘where are they now’ segment, just as Nigel suggested he would do a while back.

  • Karen C

Nigel Lythgoe said there would be “Where are they now ” segments for some former idols , so maybe that’s what it’s for.

OY ladies. You’re blowing this out of proportion.  It has absolutely nothing to do with Adam or his talent.  Or anything about Adam.  I just said it was the wording.

    Good grief.

Great review of Adam’s Singapore concert:

Recent controversies aside, Adam’s first full Singapore showcase proved
to be a stunning and smooth-sailing affair – no unexpected technical
glitches, no weird sound system mess-ups, and as far as we heard, not
even off-key moments from the talented rocker.

Entire review, with video and some beautiful photos:

yeah Nigel said something about doing some sort of Where Are They Now pieces on ex-Idols. It was all very vague, though

Another great review, well earned by a one of a kind artist.

Adam Lambert: The only lifestyle I’m promoting is one of love, friendship, music and joy.

It took nearly three-quarters into the 90-minute concert for Adam Lambert to hit back at his critics, but boy when he hit back, he hit hard.

Someone asked me in an interview, ‘Are u promoting a certain lifestyle?’, said the openly gay glam rocker to an audience of about 3,500 at the cavernous Star Vista theatre on Friday evening.

“My answer was, ‘The only lifestyle I am promoting is one of love and friendship, music, joy and fashion. So whoever wants to be part of that lifestyle, yeah, we accept anybody,” said the 31-year-old to raucous applause.

And that was that, as the former “American Idol” alumnee put the final nail in the coffin on his detractors, who had raised concerns ahead of the show why he was being allowed to performed at a venue owned by Rock Productions, the business arm of New Creation Church.

Every pirouette, hip thrust, bootie shake, finger wag and shoulder shimmy from that moment on was greeted by raucous cheers and pure glee by his army of “Glamberts” who cut across a wide cross-section of Singapore society — young and old, gay, straight, lesbian and bi, and across all races — Chinese, Malay, Indian and Caucasians.

The control and poise of his soaring, multi-octave vocal range that took him all the way to the final of “Idol” Season 8 was breath-taking, and it was clear for all to see that the eye-lined glam rocker has grown leaps and bounds as an entertainer since his TV debut.

“Lambert’s message is clear. He is promoting a lifestyle of tolerance and friendship and love — the exact core values a church is supposed to promote”.

I have to give it to him, he answered his critics the best way he could, on stage and staring at the people on the front row who I assume thought they could intimidate Adam and throw him off his game. He handled it with class and humor.

  • Nadine_Bitch

Some papers, even ones from US, were calling him ”The Winner”(that makes me cringe by the way). And I don’t think that’s from his publicist/PR person. Writers tend to exagerate sometimes and I’ve read more laughable or cringe worthy articles in the past.

And I don’t think that article/wording is more insulting than calling an Alumni a ”True Artist”.

my apologies… was not meant to come across as bitchy as it probably looked… and I honestly did not see the previous comment addressing the same thing…

Another rave review from Singapore, this one from MeRadio:

MissyM, this is very common wording when it comes to positive and enthusiastic reviews. Maybe it’s because I follow a few really good acts, but I see this sort of “stand out”, “unique amidst the cliche” etc. all the time. And in the publications that I read journalists sometimes use this kind of language about acts from genres I don’t follow. It’s really easy to get this sort of praise if a reviewer likes a certain artist and if a concert was good enough.

  • Miz

Thanks for the link to Kris at the radiothon. He was very enthusiastic about raising money for the Children’s Hospital. Having been a patient there, he’s obviously thankful for all they did for him.

  • bridgette12

Or maybe it actually was everything he said it was. Sometimes critics actually do go to shows and review them honestly. Not everything is faint praise.

  • MellyPer1692

Lol, musicality and vocal ability are not mutually exclusive. Most often they go together.

  • ANNIEBA

Lol, so journalists are beards for publicists now? I don’t think so and also don’t think the journalist meant to insult others, just convey how great h thought Adam was.
I also think if Adam’s team wanted to, he could tour and do quite well in the US, he was able to sell aprox. 6k tickets in Arizona of all places. It seems their priorities are overseas right now though and then new music. Adam is probably doing better financially right now with this overseas tour than he even did with the much longer GNT anyway, the venues are bigger and it seems like resulting promotional opportunities are greater this time, like The Voice performance and video game endorsement. I think we are going to still see Adam do some one offs like the Miami Gay Pride event too
