Always glad to hear which idols are coming back each night, It’ll be fun to see who else will be on.  Interesting conversation about Kelly, her contract with The Voice could prevent her from appearing, shrug we’ll see.  Glad Kris has the new single coming out looking forward to possibly seeing him, Durbin isn’t my favorite but he has a strong Idol fan base so good for them, and if he sets something on fire, even better!  Always love Daughtry, and LOL at anyone who thought Scotty wouldn’t be on, boys a SUCCESS in capitol letters.  
Dreaming now, Scotty and Carrie on Country Night would be awesome!  James and Daughtry on rock night, ohhhh I like this.  Could kinda show the star and the possible emerging star.  I know, never happen, we need non Idol Acts to bring in non Idol viewers, but I can still dream.  Kellie P and Lauran A, J-hud and who, oh the possibilities! Ok now my dream show Adam on in the first half and Queen + Adam on the second!  Oh please Oh please PTB make this happen!

Signing a contract with the Voice that would preclude her from appearing on AI, is definitely a valid speculation.  However, I think Kelly has enough juice that she probably wouldn’t have had to sign one.  (At least, I hope so, as I’d love to see her back this season!).  

The musical act has never been that big of a draw regardless, its unlikely that would help them beat TBBT anyway.

This is true.  I’ve mentioned the ratings for Gaga’s first appearance, but there are a lot of other examples.  People aren’t going to tune into an hour long results show just to see a 3 to 5 minute performance, especially not in the age of youtube and video on demand.  The myth that people tune in for the professional act is just like the one that says that every goodbye song has done well, or helped the artist.

Exactly. They’ve been doing the 1 idol, 1 big act thing for years now. There really isn’t any reason to change it IMO. 

There was a semi final performance during season 9 that featured Kris and Allison.  I think that there may have been another show that featured three performances, at least two of which that were filmed.

He was probably replying to anxious tweets. With Scotty recently announcing his commitment to baseball and senior year, etc a few excited fans were tweeting that maybe only Lauren would do Idol since the article only listed her name. It’s just silly because no matter how busy Scotty gets, I am sure he would show up at least for the finale.

Lots of comments on the AI website announcement for Idols who don’t have new music out.  It seems realistic that Idols with new music are going to be the ones appearing.  Sometimes the timing just doesn’t work out and it’s nothing against the Idol.  On that note, I say Go Adam!  He killed it with WWFM in 2010 – still one of my favorite performances from him!

I think it’s naive to think Idol wouldn’t dump it’s older fanbase in hopes of securing a younger audience. They haven’t been very successful of that as the show as progressed, so who knows if bringing in relevant popular artists is helping at all, but if they could figure out how to grabbing younger people, they totally would. Like every show, the full number is great, but there’s the sweet spot demo they all want. Idol viewers are more likely to tune in regardless of who is the guest performer; they’re hoping to snag new people coming to see those that wouldn’t normally be on there.

Like I said above, it’s a balancing act between between appeasing regular Idol viewers and trying to bring in new blood. I simply think that with the pressure on more than ever this year, they might lean more toward the latter. I hope I’m wrong and there is an Idol every week and ones that aren’t on main radio formats, like Ruben and Clay do make an appearance, but I’m not going to have high hopes. That’s all I was trying to say.

Adam, Daughtry and James my three favorite Idols.  I am very happy to hear this!  One thing past and present Idols could teach Artists that have been in the game awhile is how NOT to lip sync while performing!

Yes Zsusk, Casey James has a single and I would like to see him again, Heley should have something out, dying to hear something from Adam he always puts on a show.  How will be top lasers?  My Cookie could come on too.  With as many contestants and winners Idol has these performers should be showcased.  Now that I think of it Kris Allen also has a new single.  So many ways to fill those 12 spots with Idols.
