After last night’s “Hallelujah” moment, courtesy of Mr. Simon Cowell, It’s a pretty safe bet to figure that Lee DeWyze is safe, safe, safe. (He’s probably going to win the title, but that’s another post).

So, who goes home tonight? Crystal Bowersox or Casey James?

After Crystal’s less then stellar performance last night, my initial reaction was to worry for her safety. And actually, I think there’s a chance she could be eliminated tonight.

However, after thinking about it, I think it’s likely that Casey is going home. His personal choice, “OK, It’s Alright With Me” was too unfamiliar and too laid back to impress Idol viewers.

And his judges choice, “Daughter” while good, wasn’t outstanding. Casey came into last night at a disadvantage. He needed a breakout moment to propel him into the final. He came up short.

So, riding on momentum, Crystal advances to the final with Lee, and TPTB get the final two they’ve been craving.

Over at the Los Angeles Times Buzzmeter the pundits are unanimous. Casey James is going home.

MJ — Not that you need any validation from the likes of me, but I thought your recap was absolutely the most spot on assessment of the night from any of the (illustrious? infamous?) bloggers I regularly check in with. One thing that only you seemed to pick up on was that Casey actually had better vocals than Crystal. I didn’t realize that myself while watching the show, but looking back at it now, I think you’re right. I still think Crystal has enough good performances behind her to carry her through tonight. But that was an interesting revelation.

I spent a 3-day weekend in Chicago in April, and our weekend consisted of a blues lounge, an r&b nightclub, soul food, creole food, a chicken-n-waffles style 24-hour diner, a BBQ, and a gospel choir performance. It’s definitely the non-South’s most Southern city.

LOL – Sounds like a fun weekend! But no pizza? Or loaded up Vienna beef hot dog?

Why did they show him on the plane? Did no one come to the AT&T store?” Sheesh. These poor kids can’t win.

That was odd and we will probably never know the answer! It will definitely be a question for one of those twitter parties!!! Maybe the cameraman’s battery was dead… They should have “borrowed” the “bitch face” version from youtube!!!! ROFL!

Is there a live feed anywhere tonight?

Casey probably hasn’t been treated fairly by the judges, but I think that there are other contestants in the past who have been treated worse.

I actually see a lot of similarity with Casey and Jason Castro. Lots of promise, charming personality, some truly outstanding moments, but couldn’t quite deliver down the stretch. Oh, and plenty of disrespect from the judges all along the way.

I think it will be Casey and is probably time. I like him but think he was ready to go last week.
