So, that went pretty much the way we expected.  The producers got the Final 2 they wanted this year, and now Lee DeWyze can make the inevitable march towards a win beginning next Tuesday.

I say that, hoping that Crystal wins. She’s been the most consistent and self-assured of all the contestants from the very beginning, and I think she deserves it. So, I’ll be texting in my votes for her next Tuesday.

Interesting, that little tidbit Crystal mentioned–that she’d been trying to perform her original songs on the show all season. Finally, her song, “Holy Toledo, ” played on the soundtrack of her Hometown video, which I think is an Idol first.

Casey was ready for what came his way tonight.  I thought it was sweet the way he wandered into the audience, shaking hands. So sweet when he picked up the little girl as he reprised “Daughter.” That was a very sweet moment.

Earlier today, Casey tweeted a big thank you out to the peeps who voted for him, and you just knew he knew.  But it’s cool. Third is not a bad place to be. Casey had a good run.

Recap after the JUMP…

Who heads into the final next week? We find out tonight. Justin Bieber (pre-taped) and Travis Garland (who???) performs tonight.

Cold opening with clips of the kids backstage. 47 million votes came in. Ryan introduced the judges. Sunday, the judges appear on the finale of the Simpsons.

Ryan introduces the Top 3 and they head to the couch. Casey James says he had no expectations at the beginning. Everything is surreal. Crystal Bowersox had no idea how much work it was–it’s been a crazy ride. Lee Dewyze says it’s a lot of work–totally different than he thought it would be. It’s made him a better person.

Crystal says working hard makes you a stronger and better person. Casey feels like he won the lottery. Crystal thinks about winning, but she’s cool with whatever happens. Lee wants to win too, really bad. Casey says he gets hundreds of text messages a day from his friends, and wishes he could answer them all. Crystal feels tugged in many different directions–between her son and taking care of her diabetes. She feels healthier than ever right now.

Randy says all three have blossomed, and learned more about who they are as artists. Crystal and Lee says the advice from the judges was really helpful. Casey says not every comment was helpful. Ha ha.

Time for a break

Ford Music Video “Real Wild Child” Iggy Pop. Ha ha!

Casey James goes home to Texas. A motorcade, screaming crowds, interviews. Casey is single! At Milsap High School there’s a throng to greet him. Holy shit! says Casey. He’s on his way to the hospital to thank the peeps who took care of him after his devastating motorcycle accident. Casey’s mom is there–it gets very teary.

Casey says it was intense meeting the doctors at the hospital. He says, when his mom cries, he cries.

The Top 12 in the house!

UGH PEREZ HILTON. Douchebag! Perez discovered this Travis dude online. Travis Garland sings “Believe”. Better than Justin Timberlake? Really? He’s not that special.

Ryan announces the audition cities for Season 10: Nashville, New Orleans, Jersey City and San Fransisco.

Crystal Bowersox goes home to Elliston: Crystal is freaked out by the attention! She signs some guys chest, he’s getting it tattooed! Crystal has fun sticking her head out of the limo sunroof! She’s like a giddy kid. Aw. Reunion with her Dad! Her boy is there. It’s off to Bowerstock to the strains of “Holy Toledo.” Crystal throws out the first pitch at the Mud Hens game. Home sweet home! Back to the Idol stage and Crystal is crying. She says she been fighting for originals all season. She’s so happy that “Holy Toledo” was the soundtrack for her vid. Northwest Ohio has been in a horrible economic slump. It means so much to Crystal to go back.

Lee Dewyze goes home to Chicago – You guys are awesome! After interviews, Lee is off to the Cubs game to throw out the first pitch. He visits his elementary school. He can’t wait to see the kids. SCREAM! Off to Prospect Paint. He’s crying–overcome. Lee reunites with his family. At the racetrack he sings “The Boxer.” More tears. Making his family crowd is amazing, says Lee. He thanks his parents for their support.

Justin Beiber – “You Smile” and “Baby” – Zzzzz. This was pre-recorded last month, the week Usher mentored.

RESULTS!!!! Lee is first…deets. Crystal next…deets. Now Casey.  Lee is declared safe first.  Crystal is next (Am I safe? She asked twice…yes Crystal you are!).

And, of course, Casey is going home. He’s not the least bit surprised. He sings “Daughter”. He makes the rounds of the audience, shakes hands with the judges. He picks up a little girl as he sings. AWWW.   He’s not singing very well. Eep.

Now, his goodbye video rolls…

After the cameras stopped rolling, Crystal and Lee tossed a coin. The winner got to pick whether they perform 1st or second on Tuesday.  CRYSTAL WON THE COIN TOSS! She’s going second!
