  • Bret Michaels will be on Idol tonight
  • UPDATE: Chicago will perform a medley of their big hits with a male contestant.
  • UPDATE: The Bee Gees and Hall and Oats are in the house.
  • UPDATE! Adam Lambert will definitely not be at tonight’s finale
  • UPDATE! Alice Cooper rumored to be on the Idol finale tonight!
  • UPDATE!!! from Kelly Clarkson’s Facebook HERE, “Don’t miss Kelly performing tonight on American Idol! She and fellow winner Fantasia will be performing “Together We Are One” as a farewell performance to Simon Cowell. American Idol airs tonight at 8 pm on Fox.
  • UPDATE: Janelle Wheeler will host the Crystal Bowersox party in Ohio
  • UPDATE: Blake Lewis just tweeted, “Off to rehearsal for tonight’s American idol season 9 finale. Excited to be back on the show.

  • “Crystal Bowersox performs Joe Cocker “With a Little help from my friends””
  • AINow.org is reporting that there will be a tribute performance featuring Idols on Wednesday, but it will only include Idols not signed by 19
  • TMZ is reporting that Paula Abdul was out shopping for a dress recently and that she will be attending the finale tomorrow. More HERE.
  • Hollywood Life is reporting that Lee Dwyze and Crystal Bowersox will sing with Joe Cocker at the Idol finale! ! Read more HERE.
  • “American Idols Top 10 perform “Schools out For The Summer” by Alice Cooper Tuesday” via @MIX1063 (if this is true, I would think the group number is for Wednesday’s finale)
  • People magazine reported that Paula Abdul will appear to help send off Simon Cowell. At the very least, she will probably appear in a video tribute.
  • Janet Jackson will perform on the results show.
  • Chicago, the Bee Gees and Hall and Oats have supposedly been tapped to keep the Baby Boomer demo happy.

  • Idol Tracker reports that the Melissa Etheridge/Crystal Bowersox duet may be back on the table (The appearance contract Etheridge signed with Dancing With The Stars would not allow her to appear on the Idol finale)”

Idols who have confirmed their return to the Finale (or not)

  • Elliott Yamin tweeted on Monday: “my homie taytay hicks gets in town 2day…gonna get 2 share the stage with him again!..1st time since r idol days..can yall guess what 4 ??” (Tay tay is Taylor Hicks).
  • Michael Johns tweeted on Monday:  “It was fun being back at the Idol finale today. Good to see some old friends. I got asked to perform on Wednesday night. Pretty excited…Can’t give too many details sorry but its going to be pretty epic”
  • Blake Lewis tweeted last night that he WILL NOT BE PERFORMING on the finale
  • Kelly Clarkson and Fantasia will perform “Together We Are One” as a tribute to Simon Cowell
  • Blake Lewis confirmed he will be performing

Confirmed to Perform:

  • Christina Aguilera, Carrie Underwood, Kris Allen and Enrique Iglesias will be appearing on Wednesday’s finale  to perform their new singles.

    Word now is Diana DeGarmo will also be ON the show tonight, which is the first time she’ll be on the show in any fashion since the night of her finale.

    It’s about time! My goodness, Diana is an example of what a stepping stone Idol can be for talented contestants!

    It’s cool watching the TV Guide Station and seeing all the past Idols! Awwww… there’s Anoop! The ratings should be excellent tonight. I am actually excited.

    and the popeater article just made it worse, because while we don’t know what the truth is (was adam never scheduled to perform, was he scheduled etc.) there is no way he just willy nilly didn’t show up at rehearsal, or suddenly decided to be difficult at finale time, or was going to do a non-family friendly performance. agree with whoever said that RCA/19 need to put the kibosh on this story

    Why would they? AI is all about creating controversy and they plant these stories themselves to drum up buzz. Last year it was a bogus story about Clay being escorted off the set when it didn’t happen at all. Remember the other stories fed to the gossips that turned out not true like Kris and Adam fighting because of Adam’s beauty products cluttering their bathroom. The old saying is that if you believe the tabloids you deserve to be lied to.

    true. I guess I just find it more bothersome when the stories impugn someone’s professional reputation (eg refusing to show up at rehearsal, being a diva, planning to pull a stunt), than silly things like fighting over beauty products etc.

    No, they are sitting in front of a television, watching Gossip Girl, eating nachos, and knocking back margaritas, while sending naked pictures to Archie and Kris.

    LMOA at the popeaster article. It sounds like complete BS. Why would the producers even think of canceling an Adam performance and it wouldn’t be secret because that wouldn’t increase ratings. Also if Adam did something inappropriate, which would be unlikely since IIHY is pretty tame song, it would be the best thing for idol because they would be all over the news like the AMA’s were.
