American Idol 14 Auditions – New Orleans Preview – Mikey Duran and Erica Washington Sing for the Judges

The American Idol 14 Auditions head to New Orleans for a one hour episode on Thursday January 22. In this first preview clip, Mikey Duran reveals that he graduated from the same high school as judge Harry Connick Jr.! “I’m sure he’s a lot older than I am,” laughs Mickey. “Go Bluejays!” he says. Mikey is determined to make Jesuit High School proud.

Harry admits that his grade point average in high school was .08. WHOOPS. “I bribed my way through that school,” Harry jokes.

Mikey accompanies himself on guitar to an original song, “My Demise.” Jennifer Lopez is really impressed, and so is Keith Urban. “Mikey, I love that song, man,” he says. Energized, the hopeful keeps going until they kinda force him to stop. The song is better than his vocals, I think. What do you think?

Erica Washington tells the judges that she “really wanted the opportunity [to audition] and I’m just thankful to be here!” The Mobile, AL native, sings “Halo” by Beyonce. The judges quickly realize that Erica is the real deal. We won’t learn their feedback until Thursday, but if the looks on their faces are any indication of Erica’s chances, I would say she’s going straight through to Hollywood.

What do you think of Erica’s audition?
