TV Line has the scoop on next week’s American Idol 6 theme. It’s “A Little Bit Count and A Little Bit Rock N Roll.”
We’re quoting Donny and Marie Osmond now? How very hip! Heh.
The title is self explanatory. The six remaining contestants will sing TWO songs next week–one each from the country and rock n roll genres.
Everyone’s bases are covered here. Each contestant has the potential to nail at least one song, right?
I’ll be back with my song picks later. In the meantime…what are yours?
UPDATE: This took me awhile, but here are my choices for what the Idol should sing this week. What are yours

Country
Caleb Johnson – If he were going retro, something country by Elton John. like “Country Comfort” or “Amoreena.” Or maybe the Eagles. A modern song could be a tune by the Zac Brown Band.
Jena Irene – How about Bonnie Raitt or maybe The Pistol Annies
Alex Preston – A tune by John Hiatt or Wilco
CJ Harris – Bet he could kill an old Hank Williams song like “I’m so Lonesome I Could Cry”
Jessica Meuse – A song by Emmy Lou Harris, Neko Case, Allison Krauss or Lucinda Williams.
Sam Woolf – A tune by John Hiatt or Ryan Adams
Rock n Roll
Caleb Johnson – Well, this is going to be Caleb’s week! Led Zepplin, The Who, The Foo Fighters.
Jena Irene – For something retro – Heart or Hole. How about Bjork?
Alex Preston – How about Nirvana? Or Arcade Fire.
CJ Harris – A song by Mumford and Sons
Jessica Meuse – The Pretenders, Garbage, Susan Tedeschi or Patti Smith
Sam Woolf – The Beatles, Ricky Nelson (ha ha), Green Day (“Wake Me Up When September Ends”)
