The Idol Pad is posted some song spoilers. As always–these are rumors, grain of salt and all that.

1. Kree Harrison - “With A Little Help From My Friends”
2. Burnell Taylor - “Let It Be”
3. Amber Holcomb – “She’s Leaving Home”
4. Lazaro Arbos - “In My Life”
5. Candice Glover – “Come Together”
6. Paul Jolley - “Eleanor Rigby”
7. Angela Miller - “Yesterday”
8. Devin Velez – “The Long and Winding Road”
9. Janelle Arthur – “I Will”

These are pretty boring song choices if true. But I suspect the list the contestants had to choose from was really short.

    David Facenfield, you are echoing what another David said in 2008 – -”This song is already so powerful, I think if I were to play guitar on it, it would be overkill. I definitely don’t think it would serve the song. You ‘really’ have to be on your game, ’cause ‘everybody knows these songs, and so, to do it justice, a B Plus effort isn’t gonna cut it anymore. Eleven other people are gunning for the same spot…the goal is to leave it on the stage.”The ‘everybody’ knows these songs – well, that would be not quite everybody, obviously – though people who have musicality and deep regard for their genre and the history of their profession as a natural part of them may think so.And as long as they feel that way – it shows in the performance and the delivery of the songs, IMO. It seems tonight, there were a lot of assigned songs and people who were unfamiliar, and that shows too.
