American Idol 12 Top 5 – Poll Results and Predictions (VIDEO)

AMERICAN IDOL: Janelle Arthur performs on AMERICAN IDOL Wednesday, April 17 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. CR: Michael Becker/ FOX. Copyright: FOX.

The poll results for favorites was interesting. Your favorite performance was Angela Miller’s “Halo” at 23%, followed by Amber Holcomb’s “What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life” and Candice Glover’s “When You Believe” tied with 17% of the vote. Kree Harrison’s “Have You Ever Been in Love” is next with 12% and my personal favorite, Candice Glover’s “Straight Up” had 11% of the vote. As you can see, there is no single performance dominating the poll here, which is usually not the case. Nobody really led the pack this week.

In the favorite contestant poll it shook out like this: 1. Candice Glover 31%, 2. Angie Miller 26%, Kree Harrison 23%, Amber Holcomb 12% and Janelle Arthur 9%. The Top 3 are bunched pretty close together. Amber scored high in the performance poll, but not so much overall.

Fifty-One percent of you are anticipating a save of some sort tonight. Thirty-two percent of you predict Janelle Arthur will receive the lowest number of votes. Amber Holcomb comes in a distant 2nd with 13% of the vote. The rest scored too low to be significant. You also THOUGHT Janelle Arthur SHOULD be the contestant to go home overwhelmingly with 56% of the vote.  Amber Holcomb is next with 27%

Janelle’s performances last night were not enough to counteract the massive tire tracks she must be sporting on her back this morning. Her first song, the Vince Gill cover, was beautiful, but after Keith Urban bluntly dissed her performance, I’m betting viewers who initially liked it questioned themselves. Keith was particularly effective, because he’s viewed as a nice guy who is fair to a fault. Which makes Janelle’s bussing particularly insidious. (STILL MAD AT YOU KEITH!) Her second second was a fail, making her situation dire. Amber, the contestant who has been trading off bottom 2 spots with Janelle, had an extremely well received second performance, the pimp spot AND a standing ovation. Not only is she not in danger of elimination. I don’t think she’ll be in the bottom 2.

So here is my prediction:

Lowest number of votes – Janelle Arthur (but there is an excellent chance she’ll be saved)
Bottom 2 – Candice Glover or Kree Harrison

Angie Miller got pimped pretty hard, even on a poor first performance. But she dedicated it to Boston! She probably had the whole city voting for her. Her second performance was good and well received. I don’t think she’ll be in danger this week.

Candice, as some have noted, is splitting votes with Amber. She performed first and Jimmy dissed her. I think she’ll be in the hot seat. But Kree might too. She didn’t connect completely with her first song. Although she made up for it on the Celine Dion tune, Angie and Amber out shown her in some respects.

There IS a possibility that Janelle will go home this week if she has the lowest number of votes. They want her gone. They could always extend the save, or trump up some “no elimination” deal for next week. But if any of the other girls are in danger, they will definitely be saved.

So, what’s your prediction?
