If Idol handles the Charlie situation correctly, they will come to an agreement with him and his family to remove him from the contest before results are announced tonight.  Let him come back for a subsequent season when he’s better able to handle the pressure.  Even if he’s voted through, he doesn’t seem stable enough to continue this season.

I think Janelle is the 5th girl.  But Breanna and Aubrey are sometimes 5th on other polls.  So it’s going to be close.

Elijah makes me laugh,  IM here for the laydees! HAHAHA! Hes such a ham, I think he might go thru, I dont know why, whatever Nigel wants, lol

Because they want a girl to win.  They got rid of the good looking WGWG.  Unless….Paul Jolley pulls a fast one on us.  But he’s effeminate though (the producers made sure).  Johnny Keyser was the closest who made it but they chose Elijah Liu over him.

It was an act to generate pity votes.  Keith called him out on it and he went defensive.  He needs psycho therapy!

I really hope Breanna makes it and/or is wild carded.

If he can’t handle the pressure now, what happens if he makes it through and he has to deal with learning a new song, a group song and doing press and rehearsals each week. That’s a lot to deal with for someone who’s have issues.

Yes i agree, just maybe this meltdown is a one time thing, and he sees what he will be up against.  Not saying I want him to go thru, but in case he does maybe it will be a positive thing for him.  Nigel cant be that stupid.

Ya likes rips out the old guitar, lol!

After watching last night, I like to compare the current crop of contestants to AI alumni.  As for the males I see no one that could be commercially successful to a level equal to AI male alumni.  None of the current crop are close to equal.  Look at the winners and others like Ruben, Daughtry, Bucky, Michael Johns, etc.  If any of the past finalists or winners were competing this year, they would be so far and away the frontrunner, it would be like Carrie’s year.  As for the women, I see some that could reach Carrie and Kelly status but with some work and luck.  More likely the result will be similar to Jordin.  I am bored with all the guys this year.  Jolley has the looks, but he is not a country pop singer, as demonstrated last night.  Larzaro is backstory.  Charlie should not have even made it to Hollywood.  All the gospel/ R&B singers cannot come close to the Velvet Teddy Bear, Ruben.  I think TPTB really hurt the guys this year in their heavy handed attempt to have a female winner.  At least with the women, there is a mix of different genres.  For the men it all sounded the same, except for Charlie.

I agree.I never understood why they never have any current black male contestants  I was surprised David Willis didn’t go through but Cortez,in my opinion is a terrible singer.I thought his Titanium last week was a trainwreck.I just think they picked males who they believed had no chance of winning this year.I think they are wrong and Paul will probably win.

    Devin and Burnell for me

Devin is one of the best singer in the competition. I won’t be surprized if he comes out as the ”Dark Horse” .

I am still a bit concerned about public reaction to Charlie though and his breakdown. I’ve seen tweets, including some from a couple of celebs (hello John Rich), taking the judges to task for how they treated him and how they are trying to squash his individuality, and as a result voted for him. With Lazaro actually doing relatively well (for him) last night, I don’t know if those that feel the need to “mother” a contestant transferred themselves to Charlie.

The yahoo article last night had a surprisingly high number of positive comments concerning Charlie. An overwhelming majority felt that he sounded good on his song and that the judges were the cause of the meltdown. Many of the comments referred to the judges as “bullies”.

The comment section on Yahoo articles is usually not sympathetic towards anyone, so I was shocked to read the overwhelming support for Charlie. If AI viewers felt the same, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Charlie voted through tonight due to voters feeling like they should support a young kid in the midst of criticism. (that they might have perceived as too harsh)

Most of the guys I see as “the most marketable” are really weak. I dunno what’s up with it. I do think Elijah and Cortez are among the most marketable, but they aren’t good enough to make it through. Of the people I thought were actually good, Paul and Burnell probably have more selling potential than the rest. Devin to the Spanish market.

Of the girls? Angela and Breanna. Probably Kree too. Maybe Aubrey but I’m not convinced about her potential at all.

After the judging, my husband came downstairs and said. “What on earth was that?” He said Charlie was almost the only one he’d like to see again. And he is normally wincing all over the place when he hears someone go off key. He had no idea what the judges were thinking when they said he  shouldn’t wear a sleeveless shirt or sing rock. He was really annoyed.

I like Paul, Devin, Burnell, and Nick.  I don’t like Lazaro to get in, he is mediocre.  Vote for the Worst is supporting Charlie so I hope he doesn’t make it.  Curtis may be able to get in but he is arrogant and people are turned off by him. Vincent kinda bombed last night but he was awesome in previous weeks.  He was in the pimp spot both times so that might help him get in.

David Willis is the more current black guy (with guitar) and they got rid of him. I would have preferred him over Cortez.

  • too-cool-for-school

I missed David and Bryant last night. There always seems to be a handful of really good people that aren’t super flashy or weren’t pimped from the get-go that get axed for that reason (and a terrible reason it is). :/

I voted for six women on Tuesday because I liked them all, didn’t have strong preferences among them, and just wanted as many as possible of them to make it.  It’s the equivalent of voting against the other four, I guess, although I don’t really like thinking of it that way. :-)
