Oh hi Candace Glover!  I’m not really surprised that Mariah loves her.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Really looking forward to this season! I hope that it doesn’t disappoint.

  • samuelgrant

WOW Mariah looks awful. Just being honest!

  • girlygirltoo

Honestly? I’m not sure I’m even going to watch. If I do, I may wait until Hollywood week.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I don’t think that her wardrobe is flattering.

  • kmd23

    I will be watching tomorrow.

  • turquoisewaters

3 superstars and Randy. Hope he won’t take up too much airtime with his platitudes. I’d be more interested in what any of the other three have to say. Not sure if I watch the whole season, but I’m curious to see how this whole thing unfolds, especially once they go live.

  • Axxxel

3 superstars and a moderator, eh mediator, eh referee ? LOL…

  • masacredo

The new season hasnt even started yet, and I am already fast-forwarding every bit with that waste of space called Randy.

  • Kesia Monteith

I have no clue why myself, but I’m strangely curious as to why you may not watch? Do you mean just the auditions or this whole season?

  • Axxxel

I don’t know girlygirltoo but in my case, I sometimes don’t have the heart to see the auditions that are sometimes mixed with the bad ones… Especially after I knew that these bad auditions passed  through different rounds before they appear in front of the TV judges so they were given false hope that they are “IT”…

I usually look at clips of the auditions after they announce the top 12/13… so way after hollywood week… yeah… that is only me…

  • Axxxel

we still need him…3 superstars is too much so we need someone who speaks for the producers and is present to ground them, and that someone is not Ryan Seacrest.

  • tucker davis

I’m strangely excited about this new season! As much as we criticize parts of the show, think of all the people we have met BECAUSE of this show. No other show will ever come close…I’m even excited about the judges! I think they’ve done a good job bringing the focus back to the kids in these preseason interviews/videos, and that has kind of surprised me (with these huge egos). Maybe that’s the unwritten theme of AI…”Yeah, we’ve got these famous judges, but we’re gonna find TALENT!” Hope it doesn’t disappoint this year.

  • hillstreetblooz

     I’m readddddddddddddddddy!

  • girlygirltoo

The first few weeks of the show tend to annoy me because of the combination of sob stories, fake drama and horrible auditions. I usually don’t really pay attention until Top 24/Top 36/Top 20 (whatever the semi-finals # is). And TBH, I haven’t had any real interest in many of the contestants for the past 3 years. No one to get invested in.

But we’ll see. I’ll probably watch at a show or two. If anyone catches my interest, then I’ll watch more.

But I’m in class on Thursdays anyway this semester, so…

  • durbesque

I hope the script writers give the contestants some fresh dialogue.  I don’t care anymore that this is the greatest opportunity of their entire lives.

  • Tinawina

This year is a first because the ONLY thing I am interested in is Nicki. I still haven’t worked up enthusiasm for the rest of it. I’m more interested in the post-episode convo here than the show. I still can’t picture myself watching the live rounds.

But then again, that’s how this show sucks you in. Probably I’ll watch auditions for Nicki and get interested in a contestant along the way.

  • blackberryharvest

Ready!! I have to admit though, I am still worried about the ratings….Britney was supposed to help the X Factor, but she didn’t. If there is a drop, hopefully its a small one compared to the season 10 to season 11 drop.

  • Kariann Hart

With these judges and a presentation of truly talented contestants, I hope to see Idol revitalized!  Looking forward to seeing Keith Urban. too!

  • Damien Roberts

I enjoy that they’re trying to sell this as “its about the contestants” yet all we’ve seen so far is the judges. That said, Randy said it best and you can’t really argue it, Idol does (for the most part) discover the best talent.

  • teekee

Well I’m not excited yet, but I’m sure I’ll be watching. I really miss the excitement I felt in the first few years of watching. Tonight would have felt like Christmas Eve when I was a kid. lol

On the upside, I really enjoyed most of last season, so…we’ll see.

  • HKfan

I’ll be tuning in, haven’t really enjoyed the last 2 or 3  seasons, don’t think there’s been anyone thats really had that IT factor, nobody to really get the media buzzing, but maybe this year. Looking forward to seeing Nicki, I wasn’t sure at first but I think she’ll be good, and Keith Urban. Wish Mariah and Randy weren’t there though.

  • ali_359921

I’m not gonna this season . I will read the recaps here . I want to save that last moment 4 u guys .

  • renzy24

Wow more and more standing O this season. lol

  • sweetmm

As always I’ll tune in once its the Top 12; normally I just read comments about the earlier stages and check out on you-tube if there’s someone everyone is spazzing about during the earlier rounds.

Earlier seasons I was pretty much more excited searching for spoilers even before the show starts; but now the excitement had dulled tremendously for me.

  • Ronnie D

Just because someone can sing loud doesn’t mean they have “it.” lol This does look like it’s going to be a fun season!

  • dy

Ah I love Idol in all its forms and incarnations. I might not love every Idol or every judge or every tweak they make, but it’s still my favorite show so I will cop to being an Idolbert and enjoy it! And since I’m a huge Keith fan, I will look forward to seeing and hearing him every time. I’m cool with Mariah. Nicki, jury is out. Randy, yeah, he’s pretty useless as most of us agree. For me, it’s always been about the contestants, so I look forward to finding my favorites this year.

  • ladymctech

Um, I would love to look as “awful” as Mariah, LOL.

  • alonzo7

I only record and watch the auditions for the people I know are in the top 40-don’t really watch live until Hollywood week.

  • Incipit

Well, I’ve been watching sporadically since Season 7, and I’ve learned to wait until they get to the Top 12 – then I Retro-view just their auditions, skipping all the Sob Stories and Drama Rama and especially the parade of people TPTB never meant to chose. I’m interested because I first saw DC in the auditions, but I don’t expect Lightning to strike again…and I’m not wading through all that.

There are great recaps here at mj’s – I’ll have a heads up if there is someone to take more seriously early on.

The Fact is, both “Suits” and “Justified” have new episodes tonight, and I ‘know’ I will enjoy watching those more than whatever Warwick (with his barf bags) considers entertainment, if he is still the Producer for the auditions…and even if he isn’t. IMO.

  • windmills

    Happy American Idol Day everybody!

I’m ready. I already love Keith and this’ll be the 1st season of Idol where I’m invested in 1 of the judges. But I’ll still need Idol to nail it in terms of the talent and diversity of contestants.

I tuned out 99% of the feud stuff but I enjoyed Nicki’s Leno interview. The reviews have me hopeful that she’ll actually bring something fresh and welcome to the table not only to the taped rounds where it’s easier but to the live shows.

  • Montavilla

I have to confess, I’m excited for tonight.  Mainly because of Nicki Minaj.  Not because of the feud, but because she’s fun to look at, is reported to be a good judge, and, so far, she’s unpredictable.

I’m not worried that the judges will overshadow the contestants.  That does happen on the other two shows, but American Idol still does get the best talent (at least the best raw talent). I don’t see that changing any time soon.
