American Idol 12- Contestant Preview #15- Jenny Beth Willis

I realized that this mediocre country singer actually competed in the same competition (albeit a different year) that Paul Jolley did and also lost. I don’t know what “Battle for the Big O” is, but it seems to be a big enough deal that at least 2 of our top 40 have tried to win it. I can’t imagine this girl makes the top anything to be any more than cannon fodder. She’s from Kentucky. She’s another country girl, and she’s definitely not the best country girl this season.

Like My Mother Does (screamy, she has NO IDEA what to do with her left arm except conduct air traffic with it)

You Call Me Yours (it’s way too low for her in the beginning)

she’s decent, but the group this year seems to be very talented, and i’m not sure if she’s up to that level. these videos are all from six months ago up until two years ago, so there’s a good chance she’s improved. i love country music, so i’d love to see her do well. we’ll just have to wait and see how she sounds on idol! i think for her, song choice is also veryyyy important. these videos showcase what were probably some of her not-so-great song choices.

    Terrible voice!

  • Kariann Hart

She has an ordinary voice.  Nothing special, really.

Wow.  Awful.  Now I have to go listen to Lauren sing it the RIGHT way.

I can’t take anyone selecting these nondescript country singers seriously, no special vocal qualities, no special interpretive or performance skills, they just come across as filler – and this one is even more fodder than filler, IMO. Of course, I have no interest in country singers to start with, but they look like people selected just to have someone to eliminate…which is kinda pointless.

…Maybe on the show she’ll be better than this?
