Alright. Here’s that Jett Hermano you’ve heard so much about. I think she’s a good youtube singer, but she has a small voice compared to a lot of the singers we’ve heard already (and also from previous seasons). Although, she could be a decent hip-hop artist, as Wake Up Call proves. So… that’s why she’s popular. Because she’s proven she can be radio friendly. She plays guitar and piano, though I wonder if we’ll ever see that on the show.

She currently has over 1.8 million views on youtube, as well as over 9 thousand subscribers. So that’s something.

Wake Up Call (Original)

Emotions

If I Aint Got You

We Found Love (she plays guitar)

Who You Are (she plays piano)

Well at least she’s not as boring as the others but wowed I am not.

  • MalwareDie

I’d advise anyone who doesn’t like her to listen to this:

Better hurry before the videos get taken down.

  • fantoo1

Good news for you! There is a male rocker this season.

  • fantoo1

A lot of people think she is Filipino but get this-she is an Asian/African mix!

A lot of singers on youtube have videos on there without a record deal, I don’t think it’s that hard to do one.

  • irockhard

You sure about that? I haven’t found any among the spoilers. And what type of rocker are we talking about? I root for hard rockers whether male (James) or female (Rockstar’s Dilana).

  • fantoo1

Charlie Askew. He listed his influences as Led Zeppelin, Queen, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, among others. He used to do more doo wop stuff, but has switched to rock.

  • irockhard

The doo wop guy? Well guess we’ll have to wait and see what he does on the show then.

Well… this is one of my favorites! I heard her cover of Who You Are a few months ago… She just blew me away!

There’s something Mariah-esque about her voice too. I want her to do Amy Whinehouse songs. I really like this girl a lot, and I think she can really hit some high notes. She will definitely be pushed when she gets in the voting rounds. Lets hope for that!

  • Emmuzka

“I like her!! She has a current sound and a bigger voice is not a better voice.Oh how I wish the AI voters would embrace that.

“Ummm, the idol voters have embraced that. Who in the last five years of winners has a big voice?

That’s required only from the women.

I love “Emotions” the best but she is still a weaker singer than what we have seen in the TOP 12.  Starting off with a fan base helps, but I am not that impressed at this point.

Her musical style is not my cup of tea but i’m willing to make an exception for her because I am loving what I see so far. Here’s hoping she can make a decent run.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I think that the standard for women contestants is definitely higher than for guys. Also, Idol has changed in S9, and finalists/winners do not necessarily need to be great (or even very good) vocalists or sing on key. In that sense, Idol is much more in tune with the marketing and success of current pop artists.

  • Niall

I could see her going deep in the competition. There’s something about her that makes up for the vocal weaknesses.

  • http://twitter.com/GeorgeWilson777 George Wilson

I don’t get what everyone is saying about her having a weak voice. It’s not weak, she just has a high voice. She’s the best amongst the girls man.

  • Jerry Alensko

Small/weak voice? After watching this, I think NOT. She should work on polishing her performance but I think she will definitely go far.

Someone in this forum that she’s not Filipino but Asian-African (Filipinos are Asians by the way) but in this site Jett said she is Filipino. Check the comments of her video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHhcapOneT4

  • Reflects On Life

This one reminds me a lot of Aaliyah,  but also has some similarities to JLo, especially in her original video.

I’d love to hear her sing JLo’s “If you had my love” or Aaliyah’s “Back & Forth”.
The NeYo cover would also be great to show off dexterity.

Unfortunately, a lot of songs in this genre would get the standard AI lament, “That song didn’t go anywhere”, since they don’t tend to have a build & climax format to them.

    Filipino is Asian :)) ..

  • http://twitter.com/shelLAMBERT Shella Pascual

she might be like Jessica Sanchez that plays musical instruments

  • Janis de Asis

yup. both parents are Filipinos. She looked a bit Chinese, yes. As a matter of fact, she performed last year in Filipino American Student Association in the states

  • Janis de Asis

but doesn’t sound like any of them. I’m a rock fan so I know a pozzer from athentic

  • Janis de Asis

Yup, she reminds me so much of Aaliyah…Bless her soul, Aaliyah. Hope she sings an original next week,I totally dig this girl though I love rock and bands. She reminds of that old school RnB that I grew up listening to. I kinda miss that…

  • Janis de Asis

yup she is. both parents are pinoy.
