    If there are 3 things that people in the Phillipines love, they are Manny Pacquiao, Arnel Pineda (lead singer of Journey), and Jessica Sanchez…should be pretty obvious who is singing Faithfully…btw i’m kidding about the blatant stereotype of the Phillipine people, they have a rich and wonderful culture just trying to have a little fun here.  That said, I actually do think Faithfully would be a great song for Jessica.

    My rundown:
    Phillip- Etta James and Damien Rice
    Jessica- Journey and James Brown
    Hollie- Josh Groban and Bonnie Raitt
    Josh- CCR and Jennifer Holliday

    If someone nails “You Raise Me Up” they might just win AI11. 
    “And I Am Telling You” has been performed 5 times on Idol, but, interestingly, never in the finals. Also never by a male so Joshua could really run away with it.

    I am not feeling these song choices. They had an opportunity to present contemporary pieces but they still chose old used songs. Hope they prove me wrong tonight. Or else these will be another snoozefest

    Danny Gokey made it through without hitting the bottom when he gave possibly one of THE worst AI performances, the infamous “Dream On” and got booted the next week.  I believe P2 is about as safe as the much hyped Colton/Phillip finale was.

    of course Carrie is a great singer … no question about it.. these AI top singers are no joke, freaking talented. What a meant is that from the outside looking in (living in europe), I dont understand why singers like Carrie or Kelly C sell so much (their music does nothing for me), while other AI singers with more unique voices are simply forgotten. Allison is just ridiculously good, that voice, that phrasing, that stage energy … a shame that America sometimes does not recognize pure talent. By speaking of pure talent … hope that Jessica S kill it again tonight =)

    And I posted my opinion in a brazilian blog 5 minutes after this photo was released in the AI’s facebook page.

    This is not the perfect list, but is a good one, IMO.
    I hope we are right about the choices.

    I think so too, usedtobelucy, so I don’t have any expectations of these Very Young People surprising me with an interesting interpretation, or any vocal skills they haven’t already shown.

    Really, there’s only one song on that list I like – and if/when Phillip mashes all the melody and rhythm out of it – “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” will need to go into Rehab. I don’t want to listen to that happening, “September” was bad enough – and I actively do not like most of the rest of the songs – so, that frees up my evening. I’ll check back for the verdict.

    At this point in the game, its better to sing songs that people know..
    P2 has song weird song selection (volcano&Have you ever seen).

    If p2 was anything like last week… i hope people take the plugs out of their ears and see how weak he is for the Top 4.
    It would be embaressing if he made it past this week..

    Juliet’s version was great because she felt it…But for me those little vocal gymnastics that Elise did on her version were astounding…I think the only one in the bunch that can show some grit and the emotion that this song needs is Joshua(maybe Jessica?) but I’m just not interested in seeing anybody tackling that song other than Elise…

     We will never know ho they choose these songs…..but from the grapevine….they are only given a list 13 songs to choose from…..and their time to choose is limited…because songs needed to be practiced, rehearsed, then recorded…..then stage performances needs to be thought of and then rehearsed too….

    I had exactly the same picks as you did, MJ…which means that we’re both sure to be very, very wrong.  I kind of hope that’s the case, because that sounds like a boring snooze-fest of a show.  If my guesses are right, then Hollie, in particular, might have just signed her death warrant.  I could go the rest of my life without ever hearing “I Can’t Make You Love Me” performed on “Idol” again (particularly by a VERY young-seeming 18 year-old), and “You Raise Me Up?!”  REALLY?!  Come on!  That has to be one of the sappiest pieces of shit ever recorded.  What;  was “You Light Up My Life” not available?  I can barely listen to a few notes of that humorless dirge without projectile-vomiting all over my television.  Those are two AWFUL song choices, and anyone who made them deserves to be sent home for that alone.

    I agree with Mj’s predictions except for one switch. I think Jessica will do a man’s world and Joshua will do the Jennifer Hudson tune.

    No Maroon 5.  After the antics of Adam Levine on The Voice this season, I don’t want to see or hear any Maroon 5.  I don’t want to see or hear anyone sing any Maroon 5 songs.
