Here are song spoilers from The Idol Pad

Also note that Jeremy Rosado will probably perform last.

Adam Brock – “Think” by Aretha Franklin
Creighton Fraker – “True Colors” by Cyndi Lauper
Eben Christian Franckewitz – “Set Fire To The Rain” by Adele
Jeremy Rosado – “Gravity” by John Mayer or Sara Bareilles
Reed Grimm – “Moves Like Jagger” by Maroon 5 & Christina Aguilera

Is Reed going to sing “Jagger” seriously, or will it be a joke? He’s got to be careful. I’m surprised that Jeremy is getting the pimp spot if true, because I always assumed he was fodder.

ETA: “Set Fire to the Rain” is too mature for Eben, who tries to sound soulful, but ends up sounding like a choir boy. I don’t think it will hurt him because he’s a cute boy.

Creighton’s choice does not surprise me at all. Look out for some epic over singing.  Ditto, Adam Brock (If he’s at the beginning of the lineup, he’s toast)

BTW, if you’ll remember, there was a spoiler that said each of the contestants drew up a list of songs to sing, from which the producers made a final choice.

Exactly what I was thinking the other day. Eben just doesn’t seem cool to me. He may have Bieber hair, but Bieber is a perfect 10 in coolness and Eben is a 1 in coolness. Even Deandre is way cooler than Eben, even tho he is really shy. I think it’s his looks. Deandre would turn a girl’s head, and Eben may turn a grandmother’s head.

Creighton’s song choice is great. I think he’s fantastic. He’s by far my favorite male singer in the top 12. He’ll do great tonight…. I can’t stand Reed or Adam. Both of their song choices are terrible and I hope they take a hike asap… Eben’s song choice is atrocious. The kid has talent, but he is not ready for the show yet in my opinion… I’m anxious to see what Jeremy does with “Gravity”. I loooove that song and I think he has some potential…

You missed my point.  Prior to David singing “Imagine,” some thought he was too young to sing/take on such an iconic song.  He proved them wrong.  Eben could also prove many wrong.  I’m just saying that I’m going to reserve judgement until after he has performed.  (I agree with you about David since he is my favorite Idol contestant from the first 10 seasons.)  However, based on what we’ve heard from Eben so far, he could surprise us.  He has a much better voice than 3-5 of the other guys who have gotten through on their quirkiness or because they met some producer’s quota.  Eben got through because he met one of those demographics AND he can carry a tune.  He is not even one of my top 3 favorite guys but he isn’t one of my bottom 3 either. He has a much better voice than several of the others though.

Well…don’t get too stuck on him as he won’t be making it very far.

I’m not worried about Eban—even if the song choice is inappropriate, I dont think Eban will OTT it….he will probably make it simple and sweet, and be very likable in the process….even if it makes no sense vis a vis the lyrics of the song.

Reed on the other hand….there is someone who has a hard time not appearing to be a showy goofball, with a song that is going to tempt him into being a showy goofball. Recipe for FAIL.

Nope. Eben’s got the Grandma vote for sure, but I’m not buying girls of any age fawning over that kid.

I’ve got a bunch of 12 -14 year old girls sitting in my classroom every day that are already fawning over him.  And look at the comments on his youtube videos, you’ll see they are already invested as only tween/teen girls can.

I don’t think it matters if Eben is dorky. David Archuleta is/was just about as dorky as they come (and I say this as a HUGE Archie fan). He had no “swag” or coolness about him (remember his ‘With You’ by Chris Brown perfomance? lol), and he managed just fine :) Granted Eben doesn’t have the voice Archie does, but we shouldn’t write someone off just because they seem choir-y or dorky. Along those lines, we haven’t heard Eben try pop yet, so I don’t understand why some are automatically assuming he can’t do it. At least let the kid attempt it first.

The cool factor doesn’t count much with the elementary school age bunch. They gravitate towards guys that are non-threatening, and Eben certainly has that attribute.

It really doesn’t matter who we think is “cool” anyways. What matters is who these young girls decide is “cool”. I rarely agree with their definitions of what is cool, but then again, I’m not 10! lol

so tired of people covering Adele. Her songs should be taken off the approved list

I do understand tomr.  Eben’s voice is too high-pitched for me, he’s too young.  Guess I’m not as nice as you about reserving judgment.  : )  But I will watch his performance.
