    What does ‘secret elimination’ mean?

    I love spoilers!

    What does ‘secret elimination’ mean?

They made it through the first day cuts at Vegas, which should have meant they were put through to the sing for your life round, but they were called back at on the second day and cut because too many had been put through.

I’m intrigued by so many standing o’s. This might be a good sign.

I notice that Reed Grimm was the only one in the two groups that got standing O’s. I suspect that he’s got mad re-arranging skills and helps the group make the most of things.

I think he could go far if he makes the voting rounds.

Creighton and Elise also got two standing O’s (one for group and one for solo). Interesting how good people always know to form groups together. I think that’s partially because they can also spot talent in others.

    What does ‘secret elimination’ mean?

When you go to use your key to your hotel room, it suddenly doesn’t work?

They made it through the first day cuts at Vegas, which should have meant they were put through to the sing for your life round, but they were called back at on the second day and cut because too many had been put through.

Oh, that’s much less fun. That’s got to be soul crushing. Why not just let them sing for their life and then cut them? They may surprise you.

That seems like a logical conclusion.  After watching his audition yesterday, I wasn’t impressed by Reed’s voice, but it looks like his musicality is his strong point.

Can we skip the rest of the auditions and go straight to Hollywood?  Thanks.

ETA: I forgot how to block quote…it’s been a while. HELP?

I know we’ve only seen 2 shows so far. But it’s interesting that many of the people that had standing ovations have not been shown yet or not very long like (Elise Testone). I wonder if they will have short auditions shown like Elise or Aaron Sanders or they will not show these contestants auditions & show very little of them in Hollywood.

Or the huge number of standing o’s may mean that the judges are continuing and extending last year’s policy of treating any decent performance like its the greatest thing in musical history.

Like gangreen said, it’s often they put too many people thru during day 1 of Vegas. This happened last year. Even after, there was still a Top 42, and then two females were eliminated behind the scenes….making a Top 40.

Me too!  Who knew AI had spoilers.  Soaps, yep.  The Bachelor, yep the Final pick is always leaked on line, but this is new and it makes it more fun to focus on the key players.

Im sad that i dont see Travis Orlando’s name anywhere in the spoilers…i mean he’s auditioned twice..and idol has exploited his backstory TWICE…and it seems as if he cant get past the first day or two of hollywood…i feel sorry for him…he really needed this

I said it once and I’ll say it again, watch out for Reed Grimm. The only contestant to get two standing O’s in Hollywood & Vegas. I got a feeling about this dude. We might still be talking bout him from her through May.

    Update from TIP:

“The top 24 includes all 4 members of the Las Vegas Round group that received the only standing ovation - Eben Franckewitz, Reed Grimm, Haley Johnsen, and Elise Testone.”

I really think Reed Grimm is the one to watch this year. I do like him. I’m rooting for the girls though, just as I do every year. I hope a few manage to shine and break the mold.

According to that idolpad blog, more than 300 contestants went to Hollywood Week. Yikes. That seems like an awful lot. I thought most years it was more in the 150-200 range.

I wondered though when I heard on one of last week’s shows that 38 (?) people got tickets to Hollywood Week out of just one location with the judges.

Sorry that Schyler D. got cut if that’s the case. That whole incident with her and her brother was weird. Of the two of them, I thought she was pretty good but I totally didn’t get the judges’ love for his version of the David Cook song.

They had a similar amount for Hollywood in S10. I like it, the more choices they have in Hollywood the better in my opinion. It will all get cut down to the same number whether they have 150 in hollywood or 350.
