    So excited!!

Yes – still the best – really looking forward it.   If someone’s indispensable, it’s Ryan – so happy he’s still with Idol – think he is too.

    I’m ready!!!!!!!

  • larc

I’ll believe “it’s all about the kids” only if JLo and Steven don’t perform this season.  Otherwise…

Jennifer looks a lot like Paula in that photo.

I hope it’s all about the contestants.  I am getting sick and tired of (has been) celebrities using singing competitions to further their careers while getting paid way too much and pretending to care about the contestants. cough JLo

What a load of bull.  It’s never been “about the kids” it’s always been about the ratings.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Like I’m going to believe anything that Ken Warwick says.  lol

These videos cut out for me right around the 50 second mark. Boo!

  • Kylee

When we compare it to The Voice and X Factor, its a lot about the kids.

  • steph6449

I haven’t been watching the previews for this season (sorry mj :) ).

I hope by “kids” he just means contestants. One season of underage-Idol was enough for me.

Ken Warwick is, and has always been, so full of sh**

  • Kirsten

Ken is such a blow bag. He touts whatever meme he thinks will work and will run over the contestants with a bus if they need somebody to blame (like how Season 9 was bad because the contestants wouldn’t stop playing guitars when he was the EP who could set the rules and the wretched judging (including Simon’s phoned in performance, Kara desperation for approval, Ellen not being able to handle it and unable to be spontaneously funny in her judging and Randy completely driftless. Nobody looked like they wanted to be there, even Ryan and least of all the contestants), the horrible production standards (including times when the shot showed blank stage and everything ran overtime) and countless other things which were his job to make sure that they had the right people and policies in place so that the show worked. But yeah, the season sucked because he was powerless at stopping all the guitar playing and that’s all the fault of the contestants who are now the most important thing about the show).

At least he knows how to parrot the talking points for the season. Sit down Ken and just let Nigel run things before you kill the show.

I had the same reaction when I read that headline. OMG – Have they gone and picked more children for the cast – or is Warwick just doing his usual condescending  asshat schtick? Hope it’s not a little of both…Warwick is a proven ass – that doesn’t change – and enough already with the children! IMO. Of Course.

I don’t really care if they perform once throughout the season…at least it is not like The Voice where the “judges” performed more times than most of the contestants.

  • Anonymous

Ha.. we’ll see if this S11 will be about the kids not about the judges, because it should all be about the contestants.

  • Anonymous

There’s nothing wrong with underage kids as long as they can sing well and handle everything- see McCreery, Scotty.

  • Anonymous

oh and we have the “its all about the kids” meme now…Idol is ready to start LOL

Scotty was a surprise to me, because I really felt he would flame out near the bottom.  I couldn’t understand what the audience saw in him or even Jimmy Iovine saw in him.  I thought he was a one note pony.  But he proved me wrong.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_X5MFW5AZRKGSJZ4YII2TZUSJCM SallyinChicago

That’s what he’s paid to do.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_X5MFW5AZRKGSJZ4YII2TZUSJCM SallyinChicago

You make a good point because esp with the XF, it was about the judges and their shenaningans.  I always see the AI judges as background props vs. the main stars and AI got off track with Simon and Paula because they hogged the show.

So you don’t think Steven Tyler was has-been?  Why pick on Jlo?  During the show Steven came out with a clothing line and a single CD.  You don’t think he profited from his appearance?

  • Kylee

Hopefully Nigel never leaves idol again :)

Ah, Ken. Could you please just STFU? I will never forgive your behavior on S9. You were not a man who stood up and took the blame when things went wrong. No, you were the horrible kind of person who turned into a bully and a blowhard. You made sure to throw as many of the “kids” under the bus that you could in order to save your ass.

Watch out S11. This guy is blowing smoke up YOUR ass. I have no doubt, if the ratings go south, it will be “the kids” fault for singing in tune or being too old or God Forbid…playing an instrument.

I realize not everyone will agree, and I don’t mean that none of the teens had any talent or potential. While I didn’t / don’t really get the Scotty appeal, I eventually got to appreciate Lauren anyway. She does have a good voice.

I just don’t have a big interest in following unformed, underage teen performers. And when as last season they made the show so much about that — in the early going, at least — it wasn’t that interesting for me. And it didn’t fit with my understanding of the show being about finding undiscovered or overlooked talents. Taking someone who is not even out of high school, doesn’t fit that model for me.

One reason I don’t watch some of the other talent shows, is all the kiddies and group acts in them. I find it more interesting to see individual adult singers trying to show what they can do.

I am in agreement that Ken Warwick is not one to believe.  However, with the criticism towards The Voice and The X-Factor, he may be “pressured” into trying to meet some goals.

Randy tweeted that there are quite a few younger contestants.  I do sense a change in the demographics.  Many did not like “the look” of the TOP 4.We may see more Urban type of contestants and music.

Does anybody notice that Steven is a man of FEW words?   Hmmm….?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

Well, I for one would like Steven to talk more and give more opinions about the performances.  He’s “star” power but he plays it safe by not saying anything.

So Randy, is it really real reality really?

    Ken Warwick, STFU.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_SYFK77IYLRQIVATQ2MJKSW2J7Y Pam

I’m in agreement with the choir about Ken.  If he left, I wouldn’t miss him honestly.  For all the problems of season 9, I’m blame Ken and the sorry cast of judges, NOT the contestants.  Ken needs to take responsibility for his own failures.

Personally, I think Scotty has more than enough intelligence, talent,  charisma, and plain own good sense to hold his own – as he is in fact doing. Plus, from the beginning, he’s had a group of very level-headed people advising and supporting him. So I really think he’s the exception.

But in general I agree with you that I prefer to see singers who know who they are and just need a boost, rather than singers who have potential but require a lot of development or aren’t emotionally ready.

Having said that, I think most of the top 11 on Idol this past year were in the former category. Yes, they may have gotten offtrack or seemed a bit confusing because of the show’s editing, but I think most of them knew who they were/wanted to be.

But I do feel some concern for a number of them who might not realize what they’re getting into. I really worry about anyone who goes into this thinking it’s all going
to be fun and games, not realizing the intensity, amount of work, and
    pressure that it entails.

Curiously enough, the winner of this year’s America’s Talent, who is 36 – maybe now 37, and fits the category of an older person who’s been working at this for years – seems to get much less attention and be very much under the radar even though I think he’s accredited himself very well since winning the show. (I don’t watch AGT but got interested in him after seeing his audition on YouTube.)

    Edited out. Yikes!

I think that all of the vocal judges are there for less than altruistic reasons and for promotion.  I singled out JLo because she was the most blatant in my eyes.  And for the fact that she was paid 12 million dollars, offered no insight and criticism whatsoever and just used the show to promote herself.  She wasn’t even entertaining.

  • Karen C

I think Ken Warwick made the statements he did as a direct result of some of the critisism the X Factor and the Voice, when it is more about what judges team wins than individiual contestat. Where AI has always been more about the contestants.   Though I’m sure this will be turned around if this batch of contestants doesn’t do well.

I’ve noticed that there haven’t been as many statements about anyone being ahead. Usually they say this is a boy’s year or girls year, or say  acertain contestant is a frontrunner.   I think this backfires.

I’m looking forward to the show.

I enjoyed Season 9.  There were some wonderful entertainers on the tour.  I did not enjoy the winner.  The so-called failure was part of Simon and Kara’s attitude and manipulation taking place on the show.  My wish is for a terrific Season 11.
