I predicted Jacob Lusk would be going home last week, but it was Stefano Langone, a frequent visitor to the bottom 3, that headed out the door instead.

No matter, I think Jacob’s time has finally come, and so do many of my fellow Idol pundits, as you can see here at the Zap2it Idol exit poll.

Jacob’s crazzzyyyy outfit alone may have sealed his fate. Also, he sang an obscure song from the King catalog AND performed first. He’s been running on fumes–I think he’s finally gone.

Casey Abrams is number 2 in the poll. I predict he’ll be in the bottom 2 with Jacob, but will squeak by this week. Haley got the pimp spot, so I sure as heck hope she’s safe, but you never know.

Pool player, here is your link to make your picks.

After the jump, take the poll. Who will be leaving American Idol tonight?

I’ve said this alot today, but I want that Lusky Stank gone. I swear, if Haley goes before him, I will not be a happy Idoloonie…just saying. LOL

  • http://www.groupon.com/r/uu4472596 tammyinohio

If you go based on who’s been in the bottom 3 the most out of those left, it would be Haley leaving but I think it will be Jacob.

  • weese

I have had Jacob going home for weeks. Last night was the first performance of his that I thought worked. Lauren is my pick to go home based on the fact she deserves to go. She is underachieving and not engaging as a singer or performer. At least Jacob leaves it on the stage for good or bad.

So true. At least Jacob pushing the boundaries no matter how bad it is. Lauren has so much potential and I wish she would just let go. She could possibly be a shocking boot tonight.

  • BrandoC15

I’m done with Idol if Haley is voted off tonight… FOREVER!!

  • AIaddict

I voted for Casey to go. He should have been gone weeks ago instead of getting the save. All he does is grunt, make faces and act like a mad man on stage. It would not hurt my feelings to see Lauren go either. She’s not ready for this business and should have waited a couple more years to try out. Her confidence is really lacking.

  • sue

I think just about everyone is picking Jacob to go this week but will he actually go? It seems like another shock boot could happen. I remember Siobhan was voted off this week last season, right? lol So maybe it will be Casey or Haley or even Lauren. The scores are so close on DI that it could be anyone. I hope Caley will be safe. :)

Scotty and James are the only ones safe. Maybe Lauren will make her first trip to the bottom 3?

I wonder if there will be a bottom 3 this week?

  • Pam

I really think it’s Jacob’s time to go as well and yes, mj the outfit alone should be enough to send him home. heh

It will probably be a Casey/Jacob/Haley B3 but I wouldn’t rule out Lauren replacing one of these 3.

If Jacob doesn’t go tonight then just…UGH!

  • Jon

    My predictions for tonight:
Ryan sets up 2 groups. One is Lauren, Scotty, and James while the other is Haley, Casey, and Jacob. Then making us believe that one is the complete bottom and top, he’ll switch one over. He’ll switch one in the bottom group with Lauren. Hopefully with Haley. Then Jacob with Casey in the bottom 2 and then Jacob eliminated

  • Kirsten

On paper, Jacob should go home. He went first and by the time I finished watching the show, all I could remember is his Urkel outfit. There didn’t seem to be a whole lot new in his performance and the song isn’t well-known enough to get votes just for it. To top it off, he got generally positive comments from the judges and he also sang last, so the fans probably weren’t all that riled up into panic voting. The guy has already had his dead cat bounce from being in the bottom 3 a few weeks ago. This should be his time. But…

There seems to be a huge Idol audience for Gospel infused/R&B/big-voiced singers. This audience toys with its favourites like a cat with a mouse and frequently sends them to the silver stools, but always keeps them one step above getting the boot. For how many weeks did we predict that Lakisha, Syesha, Lil and Big Mike were surely going to go home this week and yet, against all odds, they kept going (Lakisha and Big Mike made it to top 4 while the bus finally caught up with Syesha at top 3).

    So, he could be safe.

Casey should go home because he’s gone back to Crazy Town in the State of Serial Killer Face while ignoring the melody, lyrics and what are conventionally known as “notes”. A lot of people seem really irked at him in the comment boards, but his fan base is perpetually motivated, so he could be safe.

Haley didn’t really get to sing last, that was James and Jacob. She was kind of rushed off the stage to make room for them and that can’t help her cause. Casey killed their duet and her solo wasn’t all that remarkable.

Lauren’s and Scotty’s fan bases are without power, so they could be in trouble.

James is probably the only one totally safe.

  • Banished

If everyone picks Jacob how am I supposed to increase my rank in the fun office pools? So, for that reason, I think Haley’s going home!!

  • cfletch

I don’t think Lauren is picking up new fans, from what I read across the blogosphere, whereas, Haley is. So, Haley could very well be the last girl standing. And, IMO, she deserves to be. She has worked very hard, harder than any of the girls to secure her spot in the top 6.

    We’ll see what happens.

  • Pam

Pickler was eliminated in 6th place during season 5 and during that elimination, we had 3 groups of 2 on the stage.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiXZTC9A9YE

ETA: Chris/Kat are the top group leaving Paris/Kellie as the bottom group. Taylor and Elliott are sent to the couches first.

  • JudyOhio

I liked Jacob last night a little better than I usually do and even liked that duet with James….I got a kick out of it, was fun. I think Casey loves his grunts, groans, and mmmmm’s, as it has now become crystal clear he has no intention of dropping them.

Anyway, Jacob singing first, the wierd outfit, a bottom three trip, and other mishaps along the way will probably finally do him in, so I think he will go tonight. Am putting all my pool points on Jacob leaving. I would prefer Casey to go though and certainly wouldn’t be shocked if he did.

I don’t really see a shock boot happening tonight.

  • cher

I hope Jacob stays another week just to keep the fun going. He’s entertaining. I think Casey is going home this week, but hopefully not Haley. I still believe Scotty is going to take it all. :)

  • smn73

They’ve really gotten away from pairings for elimination the last couple seasons, so I’d be surprised to see it tonight. I think, based on history, the bottom 3 will be Jacob, Haley and Casey with Jacob going home. Based on last night, it really should be Jacob, Casey and Lauren in the bottom. I don’t know what has happened to Lauren. In Nashville she seemed very confident, but she really should have waited 2-3 years. She’s not ready. My only real fear is the declaration from Randy got James’ fans complacent enough to land him in the bottom 3. That would be terrible!!

  • https://twitter.com/pmhowden undercooked

I hope Casey goes because I think his votes will go to Haley.

  • car3278sweet

I think Kirsten makes some valid points. I do remember last year thinking… Big Mike is still here? And I was a bit shocked when Siobhan left before him, leaving Crystal as the only girl.

So, though the stars seem aligned for Jacob’s fall, I wouldn’t be totally shocked if Lauren gets a surprise boot. She sang second, looked odd (who the HELL is dressing this girl?), had an okay performance but nothing special. Her duet with Scotty was not good – not her fault, but still, this has impact. She hasn’t picked up her game week after week. Her southern base got knocked out because of weather…

Hm. I wonder if TPTB will use the weather as an excuse not to knock anyone out if Lauren really is the one. That would provide Nigel with some buzz.

  • cfletch

I also think Lauren should’ve waited a year or two to audition. She just turned 16. I don’t like that they lowered the age this year. There’s just too much pressure. If they were basing it on Miley Cyrus’s success, well, from what her dad says, her stardom just about ruined their family.

Lauren has a lot of potential, but, just isn’t ready. Of course, the little girls who idolize her probably voted their little fingers off like they did for Carrie Underwood. But, Lauren is no Carrie Underwood.

  • https://twitter.com/pmhowden undercooked

Hm. I wonder if TPTB will use the weather as an excuse not to knock anyone out if Lauren really is the one. That would provide Nigel with some buzz.

Are you talking about the tornados that hit the south and midwest over the weekend? First of all, I hope that area is getting the help they need.

Now, back to the Idol Bubble. You bring up a good point. People dealing with the aftermath of devastation could probably care less about Idol. Lauren’s fanbase I suspect is primarily in the south and midwest as is Scotty’s and perhaps Jacob. I wonder if the voting will be greatly impacted? And will Nigel bring it up?

  • http://myspace.com/susanatfox sumidol

I would really like Jacob to go, but if Lauren does that is fine too. I really liked her a first but she is not getting better, she is not growing and developing the way that Haley has. Partially this is the judges fault, Haley has had critiques that she needed to help her in this process but once again Lauren hits the wonky notes and they say – LOVED the crack in your voice, that note you couldnt reach? amazing, I was seriously like wtH?! They are not doing her favors with all the bs they shower her with. Scotty I thought was better this week, so I could see Lauren or Jacob go and be just fine

  • tomr

There will be more than one Queen in the spotlight tomorrow when Jacob gets eliminated tonight. TPTB would never let Lauren be eliminated this early and would do whatever is necessary to keep her on. There have been times other years that no one was eliminated and the totals from two consecutive weeks combined to eliminate someone. I won’t put it past the producers to manipulate the results if either Lauren or James does not make it to the final 3.

  • claudette

I think Lauren. I don’t think many of you realize what happened last night in the south and mid atlantic. Everyone was glued to their TV which every station had breaking news. It wasn’t just Georgia and Alabama. It was all over. Warnings all over. 6 tornadoes in Virginia. You have to keep watch to see if it’s coming near you.

Jacob was in bottom 2 last week so he should get more votes, and I still think a big singing diva will make it far and he’s the only one left.

  • Pam

Since I posted an elimination that was not so current (heh), here is Siobhan’s. When the video starts, you will see 2 groups of 3 already on the stage.

    Link

  • tinawina

Siobhan got eliminated on Country night, which is always good for the unexpected boot. This is not the same situation.

I feel like Jacob should be the one but like Kirsten, I do think the country kids (particularly Lauren) could be vulnerable because of last night’s storms. Casey too… he’s been growling and making faces for 2 straight weeks. I think Haley will pull it out for some reason.

Once again, I’m putting my points on the person I want to go… and that is Jacob

  • frazzledrazz

We saw what happened to Jennifer Hudson when there was a power outage in one city… This storm was devistating to multiple southern states. I would be shocked if either Scotty or Lauren didn’t end up in the bottom 3 (or eliminated)… it would just go to show how strong their fanbases are.

  • hicksaholic

Seeing that Season 5 youtube reminds me how great that season was. Pick Pickler had personality in spades.

  • nprins

Put all my points on Jacob …..again!!!
Wouldn’t hurt my feelings if Lauren goes home either….send them both home, then I will be a happy camper

  • primeminister

When the pool says bottom group, does that mean Bottom 3 or Bottom 2?

  • sr4mjc

I’m gonna go with Casey because of the grunts and faces. Jacob’s got some fanbase voting somewhere for him.

  • Vanille

jacob going home seems like the most obvious thing to me.. wouldn’t be too surprised if it was Haley, Lauren or casey though..

  • SuperNut

It’ll be Jacob. They no longer have any use for him, they threw him out there first, and those producers have been trying to get rid of him for weeks. So, Jacob will leave then all the blogs and Idol boards will party. There will also be no tears for him. I’m sure the rest of the kids will be happy, too.

  • http://jasonlscott.com jlscott13

I think what they’ll do tonight, and they’ve done this before, is break the six into two groups and have someone pick what group they think they belong in…hmmmmm haha

  • Landmd

I just hope that both Haley and Lauren make it to top 5 tonight! Would love to see both girls in the top 3! My points are on Jacob.

  • springboard

I put all my points on Jacob, he has to go!!!

  • nncw

Well I sometimes wonder what Idol does to these contestants – the first time I heard Jacob I was so amazed and excited and then it just went down hill – you would think with the producers and coaches he would have gotten better not worse. Lauren also seems to have had something sucked out of her. I wish things were more stripped down on the show. I was really irritated with the back up singers drowning out Lauren and Hayley yesterday. Maybe that is why Casey is such an angry cat! I think Jacob is going home. Scotty and Jacob to me have the same problem of not having enough training or technique. The duets with Casey and Hayley show how both of them are amazing in their musicianship . I think that Hayley has the voice to go with it whereas Casey’s instrument perhaps doesn’t always allow him to do what is in that creative brain of his. James is pretty amazing but I don’t like the rock screaming thing but he knows how to sing a song. Lauren has a lovely voice – she sounded like Loretta Lynn yesterday but I think the direction she has received has been more confusing than helpful to her.

  • NOLA

    Casey

  • abbysee

I don’t have a damn clue. I don’t use Jhud as an example of someone being booted off because he fanbase couldn’t vote. Her time had come, simple as that. It wasn’t a shock to me, frankly I was shocked me made it through that far.

I am wavering between Jacob and a shock boot of Lauren. I am not certain, still weighing my options. I am doing so much better this year in the pools here (and the crazy guy who lives next door….)this year, can’t win this one here, but I can actually not embarrass myself as I’ve done in years past. This will make or break me I think.

I think James is golden, he was good. I think Scotty is safe simply because I think he has a solid fanbase, and he was seen as improving by most. Haley is the best girl standing, while she wasn’t great last night, she still showed off her singing chops in a way Lauren has just not been able to do over the course of the competition. I think Casey’s promise is keeping him in this thing. I mean there have been flashes of musical genius, where are imho James flashes have been more in the staging, than the music. I don’t like Jacob’s singing, period. I mean he has his moments in a song, but has never, ever, sang a song straight through that I’ve been totally okay with. I like the idea of him better than the actual singer Jacob. If there is a bottom three it should be Lauren, Jacob, and Casey. Casey will be safe, with either Lauren, being the shock boot, and they might even give her another shot because of the tornadoes. If it’s Jacob, there will be no special dispensation. I wonder do double boot episodes have a larger audience. Does anyone have stats on that?

  • Elek

If I’d base the bottom 3 from my Power List, it should be Haley, Jacob and Casey.

If I’d base it from my performance ranking last night, it would be Casey, Haley and either one of Jacob and Lauren.

If I have to include my ratings for the duets, I have to put Casey, Haley and Lauren.

And if I have to put some minus points because of the unexpected tornados, I would pick on Casey, Haley and Lauren.

Based on my “ifs” and scoring them with the higher scores at risk –

Casey and Haley score 4 each, Lauren with 2.5 and Jacob with 1.5…

In as much as I don’t want to put Lauren (not yet at this time) in the Bottom List because I really believe that she should be the last girl standing…

I have decided not to make any prediction. I just hope that the person leaving tonight “somehow” deserves the boot and I do wish that whoever the person is would have a good career ahead.

A shocker to me would be for either Scotty or James in the Bottom 3 and I would go nuts if one of them goes home.

But a week would be enough for me to get over whatever unexpected feeling I’d get and I will for sure be staying tune next week. ROFLOL.

  • _Sereena_

Likester is predicting Jacob will leave tonight.

Casey creeps me out in all kinds of ways; hopefully he’ll go away soon. Last night was a joke. He “sang” (or spoke) that song like he really hated it and wanted to strangle the life out of it. Casey as sacrificial lamb? If he leaves, Haley will pick up some of his votes. I want to see James and Haley in the finale.

Lauren just seems lost. Scotty never changes. Good voice, bad boring song choices.

Does anyone else think James will pick up Stefano’s fans? Different style, but they’re best friends and all that. Stefano loyalists, …come over to the dark metal side. We have special cookies. James sang so sweetly last night… is that enough to capture the tweenvote?

  • SpenserJ

But a week would be enough for me to get over whatever unexpected feeling I’d get and I will for sure be staying tune next week. ROFLOL.

You and me both. I always come back, even when I’m mad. I’ll be disappointed if it’s Haley’s time to go tonight. I’d really like to see her make it a couple more weeks. But, I won’t be breaking up with the show if that happens :).

  • kmd

It really should be Jacob going. I don’t know how he lasted this long. Casey will always be my favorite but I don’t think he can win. I just hope James wins it over Scotty.

  • koshka

Does anyone else think James will pick up Stefano’s fans? Different style, but they’re best friends and all that. Stefano loyalists, …come over to the dark metal side. We have special cookies. James sang so sweetly last night… is that enough to capture the tweenvote?

I think the only ones that would care about a bromance are hard core fans. Did Stefano really have hard core AI fans?

  • ReginaFilange

I really don’t think Idol can change the rules of elimination without any warning before people start voting. They clearly say the person with the fewest votes goes home, so telling people their votes matter and then changing the rules is fraud.

Remember, votes aren’t necessarily free. Idol can’t tell people to vote and not give those votes consequences.

Someone’s going home tonight, even if that means Lauren or Scotty will have a rather unfair disadvantage.

  • Jae

Hmmm. I honestly don’t know. Possibly Jacob because he was loosing steam and lot of steam losers go out after a redeaming performance, which I think Jacob had last night. So if he goes, it will be true to pattern. But a little part of me really thinks Casey might go home tonight. He was really growly last night which got him in trouble before so we will see. I am just SURE James and Scotty are safe.

  • OvenMitt

Someone upthread commented about how Lauren is getting confused by the advice being given to her. I so agree with this, and it really comes back to the fact that she is just too young to be on this show. She doesn’t know enough of herself to thrive in this competition; it’s breaking her down instead of raising her up, regardless of what the judges spoon feed her. Take Haley’s intro package: she got what Jimmy wanted her to do with her song with one word (GET). When you have lived enough to understand the nuances, it really benefits you in this competition, and it’s SO rare that any teenager has had the kind of life experience that helps them in this situation. This may be the same reason I detect a ever-so-slight depimping of Scotty. He doesn’t seem to have that meat to his personality, that fire to want to win. Never any conflict in his life or something. Hard to really explain.

In other news, has Jacob Lusk become this season’s Lil Rounds or what?!? The buildup and subsiquent nosedive of this guy is in line with that of the Titanic’s maiden voyage.

  • MayMirabella

I am a fan of Jacob but I think his time has come. The big shock, to me, would be if he does not get the boot.
I like the fun and laughing and happy Jacob and he was finally back last night. It is a shame that he will probably go this week but it is a matter of numbers now. I think the others at this point have more avid fans who will vote and text repeatedly.

The other shock would be if those 3 who never hit bottom 3..even if one of them did..especially Scotty. But I doubt it.

I still think top 3 will be James, Scotty, Lauren.

  • MayMirabella

In other news, has Jacob Lusk become this season’s Lil Rounds or what?!? The buildup and subsiquent nosedive of this guy is in line with that of the Titanic’s maiden voyage

    .

Good point as Lil was considered a front runner when the top 13 were first selected. I still have that TV Guide article where Season 8 was going to be all about Alexis, Lil, Adam and Danny but they picked Lil as the one to beat. Wow.

But Jacob has some good weeks and good performances and has lasted longer than Lil. I think Lil went out in 7th place.

  • MayMirabella

It’ll be Jacob. They no longer have any use for him, they threw him out there first, and those producers have been trying to get rid of him for weeks. So, Jacob will leave then all the blogs and Idol boards will party

Agreed, it has been rough being a Jacob fan this season in the blogosphere. But for me, that happens almost every year as I tend to like contestants that are often disliked by a lot of bloggers.

  • car3278sweet

Hm. I wonder if TPTB will use the weather as an excuse not to knock anyone out if Lauren really is the one. That would provide Nigel with some buzz.

Are you talking about the tornados that hit the south and midwest over the weekend? First of all, I hope that area is getting the help they need.

I’m talking about those but mostly what happened last night. After looking at the pics of Alabama, TN, VA… wowza. I bet not a soul in that area was at all interested in AI. I bet most local stations were all weather. This is prime Scotty/Lauren territory and I wouldn’t be surprised if it has repercussions tonight.

  • MayMirabella

Those storms were very widespread. We got lucky in my part of PA, the really rough storms came after Idol was over. We also got lucky in that there was no damage here but just 20 miles away, there was a lot of damage and a tornado.

These storms and tornadoes were widespread and it was bad…the weather channel says the worst tornadoes since 1974 and these tornadoes were often a mile wide.

  • Grammie Kari

Last night I thoroughly enjoyed Jacob. I didn’t appreciate Casey’s performance. However, it really is fan base support. The weather affected 14 states, but as has been mentioned, AL, TN, and VA got it the worse. It would be something if Lauren went home.

Disney World would like to see at least one minority appearing for the TOP 5 Disney World Experience performance, interviews and photos. Nice way to make $50,000. So, I disagree that the producers don’t need him.

I see James and Scotty as safe… the rest could be a surprise.

  • MayMirabella

I like the fun, happy, smiling, laughing Jacob. And he is back , he was so much fun last night. I will miss that Jacob if he goes home tonight.

  • desiree_chick

Oh I’m over to the dark metal side, and diving directly in. It’s not just the bromance, but James have just been so entertaining for me, and I’m just admitting to loving him. He is my new fave, and all the Stefano fans should definitely jump on board.

  • fuzzywuzzy

    Bottom 3: Jacob, Casey, Haley

    Going home: Jacob

Who I wish was going home: Casey

I’ll be fascinated to see if the storms effect the vote. Of all the reasons to vote, geographical bias is the one that is the most alien to me. I just absolutely can’t identify such an impulse anywhere in my make-up. I can’t even invent a psychologically plausible explanation for it. I can see the storms making overall votes low, but I’d think it would effect all kids more or less equally.

  • duchess

    What a strange season.
I really liked Jacob last night-first time ever.
I loved Scotty/ James/Haley last night-for really different reasons. I didn’t like Lauren so much.
I am a big fan of Casey and I must be the only person out there who loved his performance. It was entertaining and really held my attention. I am not getting the Casey hate . I do think he is going to leave us soon-maybe tonight. I will buy his music as he is such a breath of fresh air. He makes music fun again. With good management, he might be a real star.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Casey should go home because he’s gone back to Crazy Town in the State of Serial Killer Face while ignoring the melody, lyrics and what are conventionally known as “notes”.

    Exactly! LOL!

  • halo9125

Please, oh please, let it be Casey that leaves- I am seriously sick of the sight of him.

I would love love to see a bottom 3 of Jacob, Lauren and Casey- time to shake things up a bit.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Idol will only use the storms in the south as an excuse not to eliminate anyone if the person with the lowest votes is someone they don’t want to leave.

If Lauren is in the bottom group, I think that she may have a complete meltdown.

  • halo9125

Idol will only use the storms in the south as an excuse not to eliminate anyone if the person with the lowest votes is someone they don’t want to leave.

That would totally piss me off.

Nah…many who share your love :) Melinda Doolitlle has a great recap/review of last night. She´s in our boat when it comes to his performance last night and sums very nicely my thoughts. See:

  • GaryJ

Finally, AI-10 has had a memorable moment, at least for me! I have been lukewarm about James all along. Sure, I recognize he’s talented and he’ll probably end up in the top 2. But last night, he came through big time. It was an unforgettable performance that showed him to be ahead of the others…showed him to be a versatile singer, with superior singing talent. So James is safe. But you already knew that.

I am going to stick my neck out, and say Casey will be the one to say adios tonight. I know I’m going against the poll, but look: Jacob sang better last night. Casey gave an eccentric jazz performance, and as jazz performances go, it wasn’t the worst, but is this what AI is all about? I just don’t see how AI voters are going to buy into it. Sure, Jacob was dressed like a clown…all he needed was the lightbulb nose and the shoes…but his singing was decent.

Based on the singing/performance, and not the outfit, I say we get to say goodbye to Casey tonight. I will eat humble pudding at midnight for you if I’m wrong…promise!

  • mozart4898

You know I’ve realized in the last couple days that I really am invested in this season, even though I’ve tried not to be. Thing is, it’s not in the usual way…I really really DON’T want to see Haley win. I actually sorta like everyone else although I don’t know if I’d buy music from any of them.

So in other words, I guess the only way I’ll probably end up voting is if Haley makes the final 2, and it’ll be to vote against her. I know that’s awful, but she really just irritates me. So in that sense, I’d like to see her go tonight even though I doubt she will (I agree that it’s probably Jacob).

  • Tess

Late to the party and didn’t get a chance to comment on last night, and I know my feelings are far from others who post.

Worst of the night: Casey. He just isn’t a singer…he’s a hell of a musician but I would never pay for a CD from him…though I’d go to a nice bluesy-jazzy nightclub to see him perform…it would be a trip.

Second worst: James. First of all that isn’t a guy’s song…what guy cares about giving up his virginity. The only part of the song that I liked was the acapella intro…the rest just lost the melody and the sentiment of the song. And the boy may think he is singing a “love” song but it didn’t come over that way to me. (By the way….long live Dirty Dancing).

I thought Jacob, Haley, and Lauren were pretty equal. Each had some issues but their performances were solid.

And of course my favorite was Scotty. I think the kid did an amazing job stepping out of his comfort zone…and with a little one on one vocal training I think he will put out a good Cd if he is given the opportunity. I think last night proved to him that he doesn’t need to be Josh Turner lite…that he can up the anty and countrysize some more mainstream material.

Going home…probably Jacob…but I’m so ready to see Casey hit the road. His performances just exhaust the hell out of me.

Nah…many who share your love Melinda Doolitlle has a great recap/review of last night. She´s in our boat when it comes to his performance last night and sums very nicely my thoughts.

Haven’t seen you around much lately ;-) You know, I’ve wondered who the S9 fans (the few of us hardy souls there are) actually like this season. Sounds like you’re a fan of Casey…I have to say, I am as well but I’m not totally on board just because I really think he’s not best served in a setting like AI. I think he’s got a lot more in him that just doesn’t work for this show (kinda like last year’s Casey). As I said in my last comment I really kinda like all of them other than Haley but I’m not crazy about any of them…I guess my biggest favorites are Casey and James, both Lauren and Scotty have slipped some for me lately, and Jacob…well I can appreciate him but I don’t know that I’d listen to him much. Basically neutral there.

:( Sadz, almost everyone hates Casey here. So I am in the minority here with my love for the lumberjack. I don’t want Casey to go, I need pool points, lol, so please let it be Jacob going.
I want to see Casey play piano next week. I will be ok if Casey made it to top 5 then he can go. I still think Scotty will win. I actually think Scotty would be a great idol. Haley would be great too. James will probably come in second.

what guy cares about giving up his virginity.

    Way to stereotype.

    Jacob goes home tonight.

2 minutes to go and I just put all my points on Casey to go home. I don’t dislike him, just have a hunch he will be one to actually go.

James was awesome last night. I’ve warmed up to him albeit very slowly but last night made me a real fan of his on the show.

The consensus seems to be it will either be Jacob or Casey, with Jacob probably getting the boot tonight.

In other words, Jacob and Casey in the bottom 3 guaranteed.

Second worst: James. First of all that isn’t a guy’s song…what guy cares about giving up his virginity.

    1) Probably more than some of them would publicly admit it.

    2) James dedicated this song to his Fiancé Heidi and mother of his 2 year old son (their were supposed to get married in March when he found out he was on the Top 24). How many girls do you know would stick around with a guy with Tourette and tics, one night stand maybe with a couple of too many drinks and by tomorrow and this probably happened to James more than once.

So the song was perfect for James and I think that many people, including major Idol reviewers felt it.

True, but the difference for me is that with Jacob they’ve made it painfully obvious that they want him gone ASAP. Now granted it was obvious that they wanted Syesha gone at Top 3 with the “Happy Feet” song choice, but the bus has been coming for Jacob for weeks now. Tonight I think it will finally mow him down but at least he will leave as the happy, joyful Jacob from earlier in the competition and not the sullen, confused we’d seen for the previous two weeks.

Mostly lurking when I check in :) But SO bummed out because of Crystal´s song choice tonight. My least favorite song on the album and does not showcase her vocals. I wouldn´t mind if my opinion was a minority one, but seems like many, both hard core and casual fans agree. So IMO, a great opportunity lost :(

Johanna, thank you for that info on James. I wasn’t aware of it. I knew that he has some handicaps and certainly does not have a head start in this competition as a result. But I think he has succeeded in spite of them, and has more than overcome them. He has a unique spirit and personality that sets him apart in this competition, but it was last night’s performance that won me over as a James fan. He wasn’t afraid to get out of his comfort zone, and he sang that song with so much emotion and passion.

Even I was impressed. And, up until last night, I wasn’t a James fan. Now I am.
