Gangreen29 brings us yet another new rumored Top 40 contestant, courtesy of JoesPlaceBlog.

Stefano Langone – Stefano plays the piano, and like Tim Halperin is cute in a non-threatening way. He has power to his voice, but seems to be lacking any nuance to his voice. He has an interesting tone though. In past seasons he risked being labeled as “broadway” or theatrical by Simon, but this year it seems there are a lot more theater type voices.

I knew Nigel would be the most awesomest twitter peep ever. He can’t help but name names–all in the service of hyping up the new season!

    A likely finalist. Really like his voice, but he needs to tone down a bit here and there I think.

    The boys, Julie, Karen, and Lakeisha (Keisha Renee) are all people who will have their audition cities come up in the next two weeks. Pia, Asthon, and Ta-Tynisa had their cities show already but I think are good candidates to be on the best of the rest. I think Nigel is trying to give people a heads up for who to look for, but also it is a very good sign that he named them and I think that means a lot of them are favorites. Sucks for the people whose audition cities are coming up in the top 40 he didn’t name though lol!

    stefano is cute and i like that he plays the piano and writes songs but i find his voice very ordinary. same goes for lauren alaino — i loved her duet with tyler but just because i love tyler. her voice and style of singing are soooo ordinary…
    my faves are still the bariton country guy (i do think he is legendary), and jorday dorsey (who gave me goosepumps).

    I agree. It could be that the contestants who Nigel named are the favorites in the Top 20, and the rest of the 20 aren’t regarded as highly. Do the contestants know who the Top 20 are by now?

    The Top 20 won’t be chosen until mid-February.

    The Top 20 should have been chosen already, they just don’t get informed until mid-February when they tape “The Chair” episode. That’s to prevent what happen last year when “The Chair” show was taped a month in advance and the Top 24 leaked almost right after.

    As far as the contestants named, I think they have good audition segments. The fact they have been spoiled as Top40, means they didn’t screw up in Hollywood.As far as being Top 20, knowing Nigel, I’d be mildly surprised if they weren’t.

    I figured that Idol had chosen the Top 20 (I think that Steven Tyler said this in a press conference), but didn’t know if the contestants knew yet. I didn’t know about the leak last year.

    I predict that Steven Tyler will let the majority of top 20 slip because I don’t think he’s cognizant that everybody doesn’t know what he does.

    So, the TOP 40 have competed in Hollywood for the TOP 20 spots, but they don’t know whether they made it or not? Did Nigel say there would be a chair episode for TOP 20?
