Gangreen 29 profiles an American Idol 10 Top 40 contestant every day this week. Spoilers come to us courtesy of Joe’sPlaceBlog.

Are you getting excited about the American Idol premiere on January 19? I am! I am. Can’t wait til we finally meet these hopefuls…

***

Brett Loewenstern -Vocally he reminds me of Alex Lambert, with a slightly less interesting tone but more control. He doesn’t appear very camera ready though. His high voice and long locks will probably turn off a good portion of viewers, although I personally find him a bit endearing. If he cleans up a bit maybe he could be the sort of plucky underdog that many root for.

This guy looks and sounds like a canon fodder.

How did this guy miss season 9?

    -shudders-

    Thank You, but nooooooooo.

  • suziq

I liked the last song the best.

  • Mark

Yeah, I don’t necessarily see anything with this guy that makes me remotely excited. His Imagine was terrible. As much crap as S9 gets, its mainstay certainly seemed better than this.

  • BootStar

Oh, Lord, this kid is kinda terrible. I’m sure the little girls will love him! How old is he? Maybe he’ll improve with age?

He reminds me of S7′s Garrett Haley!

  • chessguy99

You missed the best stuff by Brett; doing Bad Romance with a feather boa, was actually pretty good. I think he’s a musically better version of Alex Wagner-Trugman from S8. If allowed to the voting rounds, he will surely be a front-runner for the VFTW sponsorship.

  • Incipit

    Wow. No.

Does he not actually know or can’t reach the range of notes in “Imagine”, or did he decide to skate right past them and hit the flats and sharps all around them instead? And WTH are the producers doing, passing someone through with this kind of a vocal?

    Just ouch.

    IMO. Of Course.

    please no more long hair.anywhere.ever

Those clips are not very good. Decent tone, semi interesting phrasing but nothing that’d really make me sit up and take notice.

Note to producers: casting cannon fodder can really backfire on the show.

  • chearts77

I listened to this guy the other night. Will not listen again. Of the ones I heard, he was the worst to me.

How did this guy miss season 9?

    LOL!!

  • Kipper

When you put his “imagine” up against Archie’s “Imagine” – awful, awful, awful train wreck! Oh boy, hopefully it’ll get better than this!

  • jammasta

The Dear Mr. President cover isn’t too bad, but everything else about him is absolute chizz (damn Victorious and iCarly, damn them to hell! Stupid guilty pleasures!) I really kinda don’t wanna see or hear this guy ever again >_>. He’s no Alex Lambert. He’s just…. blehh. He kinda looks like if Ke$ha tried to be a boy.

I’ve read both 17 and 20 for his age. I’m thinking 1293 means December 1993, which would make him barely 17. Who would he appeal to? If he were on last season, he wouldn’t have made it that far. Every guy who played guitar was leagues better (And that counts Tim Urban, too!)

    Wow. No.

    ITA. Also, lol @ luvadamlambert.

I also like how much he was checking the words to Imagine. I certainly understand musicians needing sheet music sometimes, but … I don’t know. It’s kinda like checking the words to Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

  • sunchick

So much for my hometown getting a parade. Def fodder vibe. *sads*

  • TheHarmonicaNinja

Hey guys, cut Brett some slack here. The video quality here was pretty terrible, and some people do not know the lyrics to certain popular songs- I mean, I don’t know all the lyrics to Somewhere over the Rainbow or Imagine, and we all heard him sing in AI. I think that’s where we should judge him. He’s young, so he probably sang in these vids when he was even younger. My point is that he is a lot better now, and I think that he has a good chance of being Top 3.
