American Idol 10 Top 40 Spoilers – Featured Contestant – 02/08/11

Check out my always evolving list of the rumored Top 40 contestants HERE.

Gangreen29 is back with another spotlight on an American Idol 10 Top 40 contestant. Today’s hopeful sings traditional music and performs a mean hula! Spoilers via JoesPlaceBlog

Deandre “Kamele” Brackensick: Kamele sings traditional Hawaiian music. He also has won several Hula contests! He has a nice use of his falsetto but it is hard to tell from his videos how he will do singing pop covers on the show. His laidback style and ukulele playing are reminiscent of Jason Castro, so there is support for his type of contestant out there. Also, he has wonderful hair that I am super jealous of.

Video after the JUMP…

The guy with the long hairdo and the random hawaian videos on youtube lol.

At least he’s really distinct from the others, could be a cool surprise or just a top 40 cut.

They still need people to go home first results night. And that will be his role if he’s put into the Top 20.

He has a lot of voice control. Doing those “yodelly” shifts into and out of falsetto and landing precisely on the right note isn’t easy. If he can somehow merge this into pop successfully, I wouldn’t necessarily count on him going home so soon.

Plus he’s no slouch on the ukulele. :)

    i like him. dare i say….authentic?

Music to my ears and candy for my eyes.

Kamele is da bomb! He’s been a local favorite around the SF Bay Area for years and he’s only 16. I’ve seen him sing, play `ukulele, and hula dance expertly for YEARS now. Everyone’s been talking about him since he was a pre-teen. Now the world knows about him. You go, Kamele, GEEV-um!
