Gangreen29 continues her series on rumored American Idol 10 Top 40 contestants via Joe’s Place Blog!

Today’s featured hopeful is reportedly a judges’ favorite…

***

Jorge Gabriel – Was featured on an MTV show to put together the new Menudo, but didn’t make the cut. Supposedly a judges favorite in Hollywood. His videos are all from over 3 years ago, so it really is up in the air how his voice sounds now. I’m guessing he is going to be a balladeer type. Possibly an even younger looking Archie type?

This guy cracks me up for some reason.

MJ – maybe I’m just too fast for you today.. but the link isnt working.

  • LoveDaRocker

Interesting. The fact that he auditioned for Menudo tells me he is not afraid to dance or of up-tempo numbers. The long hair and his girly look might work with the tweens. Don’t see an Idol here. But three years is a long time at that age.

I’m not into him at all. He’s a good singer but that 3-y-old video looks like somebody’s talented kid at a wedding. Honestly, the kid market–I don’t get it at all. Justin Bieber is cute and seems personable and articulate, but he sings only okay. To me, it seems like there must be thousands of teen boys just as talented as he is, and yet, there are entire round racks and displays devoted solely to him, him, him in stores. Maybe Jorge Gabriel has the same mysterious magic? (I think David Archuleta is a more distinctive singer, tho.)

Where is their star for gosh sakes, are they hiding all the good ones they claim they found. I cant be bored this whole season, well maybe the judges will be worth watching.

  • jammasta

    Yeah, no thanks. Yawn.

  • tierbee

Magic eyebrows. Beware the magic eyebrows. :)

I’m starting to wonder myself. So far, no one has really impressed me. I can only hope that they are holding back on the super talented contestants (if there really are any). Sorry, but I’m a long-time Idol fan, and I’m very skeptical of the upcoming year and all of the supposed changes.

Gaaaaaaaaah… if he takes over this show (and thereafter the world) with his eyebrows, I think I’m done with life.

OK, not really. Still, least favorite featured contestant, and it’s not even close.

Wasn’t the original bad enough? Ugh.

Umm, seriously guys? Youtube videos do NOT do a lot of people justice. Remember Allison’s pre-idol videos? I would have never guessed she would become a favorite. Seriously, just wait until the show airs until you make judgements.

Thank you, seriously you cannot judge how someone is going to sound live from some youtube videos that may have been taken 3 or 4 years ago. You guys are talking about where is the star, where is the star there was no star last season but y’all still managed to watch that boring season. Even if you think the talent is lacking based off of some youtube videos, the contestants this year seem alot more interesting than those people last year.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Although that’s true about the youtube videos, IMO Adam really stood out in his pre-AI videos, so it is possible to be impressed by those. I agree that especially for the younger contestants, videos from even a couple of years ago, aren’t going to be a good measure of what they are like now. I’m just going to wait for the show this year before I get excited about anyone.

Actually, I’m a fan of Crystal’s, so she was entertaining for me last season. I guess that I’m referring to Jimmy Iovine’s comments about finding a really “original voice”, a “star”, etc. and so far, I’m not seeing anyone who impresses me as that “original”, even if they are talented.

There are still A LOT of people left to be discovered. You might not have a favorite yet, but there still might be a favorite lurking out there for you who hasn’t been discovered yet.

Also, for those of you who haven’t been over to Joesplace lately there have been major changes to the top 40. The posters there discovered what appears to be the top 40 contestants registered websites. It seems some of the people I’ve profiled might not have made it, and there are new additions to the list. There are 26 names discovered now, with 14 more who need to be discovered.

    Be nice.
I don’t have all the numbers, but its safe to say that in their first 10 years (1977-1987) they sold more albums than all Idol finalists combined.
A compilation of their hits in 1998, way past their heyday, sold 2 million.

Not a total snob by any stretch of the imagination, but even I’m wondering if that’s an argument against or for a reincarnation…
