A new Fan-voted country music award show is airing on FOX tonight. There are no Idols slated to perform or present, but several are nominated.

Carrie Underwood is nominated for 6 awards, including, Artist of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for Play On, Single by a Female artist for “Cowboy Casanova”, Video by a Female Artist for “Cowboy Casanova” and Touring Artist of the Year.

Kellie Pickler is nominated for Single of the Year by a Female and Video by a Female Artist for “Didn’t You Know How Much I Loved You.”

And Danny Gokey gets a nod for New/Breakthrough Artist of the Year.

UPDATE:

  • Carrie Underwood is IN THE HOUSE. She definitely won something, I’ll bet. Stay tuned.
  • New/Breakthrough Artist of the Year was the first award presented.  Easton Corbin won, rather than Danny Gokey.
  • ACA Artist of the Year goes to Carrie Underwood! She won ALL SIX OF HER NOMINATIONS!
  • Kelly Clarkson attended the ACAs! Photo with Reba McEntire after the jump.

Awww, sorry Danny fans, but an honor to be nominated. Certainly brings plenty of attention to a national audience!

    Was Danny there?

Not feeling Carrie’s dress. I think I’d love it if it didn’t have that sheer thing on top. Looks like plastic.

  • Jx223

    Was Danny there?

I’m not sure if he’s there. I think it’s possible he might not be there. He’s been pretty quiet on Twitter the past few days. And I don’t think that he was seen on the red carpet show. I wonder if maybe he knew in advance that he didn’t win?

  • Jx223

I think that this may be one of these awards shows where a lot of the winners are performers on the telecast.

I am glad that Josh Turner won an award, he’s a nice looking man and I like his voice.

  • Mtlfan

    LOVE Carrie’s dress – It’s quite modern!

  • certain1

I agree CindyM, Danny should feel good about all of this, since last year noone had a clue how this would all turn out.. :)

Btw hope you are doing better and your recovery is moving forward.

  • girlygirl

TBH, wasn’t really expecting Danny to win, but he should still be very proud of the fact he got nominated

MJ’s tweets sound painful — glad I’m not actually watching this :)

  • Lucy1234

I agree. Like the AMA’s and People Choice Awards, usually only those that know ahead of time they are winners attend unless they are performing or presenting which I think is why Danny is not there. I am glad that he was nominated and they did show a clip of him singing I Will Not Say Goodbye. I wonder if Kellie Pickler is there.

  • steph6449

Happy for Danny and Kellie that they were nominated. Carrie seems likely to be the only winner among the AI folks.

As far as I’ve seen, neither Kellie nor Danny are in attendance.

Easton is a good winner for that category if it can’t be Danny. I’m surprised that TBP doesn’t seem to have won anything, unless they are saving it for later in the show. I thought they would pick up at least one for song-writing or maybe their video.

Thank you so much. I am doing better, can still walk only with a walker, but I’m improving more and more every day.

Oh, CindyM — sorry, missed hearing that. Hope your recovery goes well…

Well, that was a surprise; I really thought The Band Perry would take Best New Artist (even though , I was hoping Danny would win). I guess Easton’s facebook ad to vote for him paid off, lol. He has the highest sales for a newbie and two #1 hits, so he does deserve it, even though I prefer TBP sound.

I like Carrie’s dress; it is less barbie like than her usual, and she looks good in red.

of MJ’s tweets sound painful — glad I’m not actually watching this

The show does seem quite hokey. Although Reba sounded good.

I have to honestly say, although it may sound catty, that Danny was 100x better as a red carpet host than Laura Bell Bundy.

  • Valentin432

Lol, they announced that Carrie won all the awards she got nominated for. I guess Taylor Swift fans were outvoted this time.

  • Jx223

Congrats to Carrie for winning the ACA Artist Of The Year award.

  • madison

I think Carrie’s fans may have killed this award show for the future. What’s the point in even having a competition if one artist’s fans can spam the results so completely?

  • great4AI

Congrats to Carrie and all her dedicated fans, we all did great job and it’s a really nice result to end this year, and be ready for next year PCA and ACM .. yay :)

Lol, they announced that Carrie won all the awards she got nominated for. I guess Taylor Swift fans were outvoted this time.

Taylor rarely won fans voted for country music award show, as most of her fans are teen and pop genre and they don’t care for country music award.

  • heartly

Kelly C. was at the show tonight just for the fun of it, I guess. It’s been hinted that she’ll be making an appearance at Blake Shelton’s after party at the House of Blues as one of the surprise performers. We’ll see how that goes, you know rumors and all that. Reba tweeted a picture of them from backstage.

CindyM, I’m glad to hear that you are making progress in your recovery, and thanks for the nice comment about Danny. I would have loved for him to win of course, but being nominated in his first year out of the gate for an award like this really meant a lot and was really fun to see. Of course he is the one I voted for but since he didn’t win I think Easton was the next best choice.

  • gangreen29

Lol, yay Carrie? I didn’t even think she would be going to this award show lol. The award is like a guitar? That is freaking cheesy.

  • Indigobunting

Lol, they announced that Carrie won all the awards she got nominated for. I guess Taylor Swift fans were outvoted this time.

It’s easy to outvote Taylor fans ;) Even Danny fans outvoted her fans on a Country radio music challenge, surprisingly. I think it is because her fans are really mostly pop fans, esp. teens and don’t frequent Country music blogs, etc.

I think Carrie’s fans may have killed this award show for the future. What’s the point in even having a competition if one artist’s fans can spam the results so completely?

You do have a point. I did some voting for Carrie in some categories, but yeah, it is a little boring and predictable to have her win every single fan voted thing. I knew Kellie Pickler didn’t stand a chance in the two noms she had, because she was up against Carrie.

  • Girl4Reba

Great to see the picture of Reba and Kelly here! The pictures of Carrie are fantastic!! Congratulations her speech was perfect!

  • bagel08

This is the beauty of American Idol. I hope they can find someone who could potentially be as big of a star that Carrie is. Maybe a new country girl will win the title this year? One can only hope…

  • sp34567

This show was horrible. After Keith Urban came on, I was done. I didn’t even finish the rest of the show.

  • Mtlfan

congrats to Carrie! this is outstanding!
and well done for Danny for getting a nod in the noms

  • iluvai

    Kelly Clarkson looks so pretty!

  • dhunken

Congratulation Carrie Wow clean sweep. Danny should be very proud to be nominated for this awards shows that people have taken notice and its even more impressive because he did the album partially while doing the Idols tour. He was rushed, very respectable job given the time constraints he had.

Congrats again Carrie…Danny and Kellie congrats to you two also. If you think about the Tens of thousand artist that put out albums and Danny and Kellie were two of say 50 artist singled out that is frigging awesome period. So congratulation.

  • TwigLA

Congrats to Carrie and her fans on all the wins. Grats to Danny on his nomination. Kelly looks beautiful!

  • Tess

I find “fan voted” award shows pretty intolerable and gaggy and coming here and reading the results just emphasizes, for me, how silly they really are and how little they actually have to do with the real world. Hope that Fox looses a bunch of money on this one…maybe it will be the final show for the ACAs as well as it’s debut. And they pre-empted “House”…they could have at least shown it when the usual crap from Fox was meant to air. Oh, and that is one fugly dress Carrie is wearing, but then her taste in gowns is always suspect.

  • bridgette12

Kelly for the first tiime in a long while, looked good. Carrie, what can you say about that ugly dress. It was the wrong color, too old looking for her and the top of it looked like she was wrapped in Saran wrap. As for this new awards show, really, do we need another one.

  • steph6449

It’s easy to outvote Taylor fans ;) Even Danny fans outvoted her fans on a Country radio music challenge, surprisingly.

Aww, I remember that one. Good times :) It was kind of waiting though to see if a sleeping giant would wake up, lol.

  • Indigobunting

This show was horrible. After Keith Urban came on, I was done. I didn’t even finish the rest of the show.

Yes, I have to say it wasn’t the best, and wouldn’t mind if it went away if this will be the quality. Keith was one of the lone bright spots. Reba was good, as always. Kind of surprising Fox didn’t have any of its Idols on to perform; I know Kellie & Danny didn’t win their category, but you would have thought they’d get Carrie in on a prerecorded spot. Perhaps they didn’t want to be accused of leaning on their Idol cred.

The red carpet (streamed or on SPEED channel) before was particularly awful; again Danny was so much better on his two red carpet gigs (ACM and AMA) than those people!

I find “fan voted” award shows pretty intolerable and gaggy and coming here and reading the results just emphasizes, for me, how silly they really are and how little they actually have to do with the real world.

You know, Tess, normally I would agree, but I think that besides Carrie winning too many awards (she deserves some of them, but there were more deserving artists, especially for Single of the year) the awards had some legitimacy. For example- Taylor Swift not winning. And Lady A getting props- they’ve had a huge year. And Easton winning over Danny is true in the Country world- he’s certainly the country darling- I think Danny would have had some backlash if he would have won. Not sure about Easton’s video winning over Laura Bell Bundy (much as I don’t like her the video was good and #1 for quite a while)- they doesn’t ring true at all, his song was good, but the video extremely boring. The guy sat in a field with his guitar and sang for much of it

  • toonces1966

I thought the show was badly done and hokey, and as always Carrie pretty much cleaned up in the awards department. What a surprise. Congratulations to her though.

I’m really not much of a country music fan, but I did like the performances by TBP (I’m surprised they didn’t win anything) and Keith Urban, who is awesome. Did Kelly Clarkson and Jason Aldean perform? I didn’t watch the entire show, but I do love their duet.

I wasn’t really expecting Danny to win, but I’m proud of him for his nomination. That means he’s been recognized. It would have been nice if he had got to perform or present, but it was cool when they announced his name and showed a clip of IWNSGB. I do not think he was there, and there’s been nary a word from or about him in three days. He has not tweeted. I’m getting a little bit worried honestly.

Michael Sarver tweeted last night about how proud he was of Danny. I thought that was really sweet. Danny is blessed to have a friend who is so supportive of him and who hasn’t shown the slightest bit of envy toward Danny, even though Dream Records dropped him. Sarver has a huge heart–love that guy!

  • PerfectStorm

I think Danny would have had some backlash if he would have won.

I agree. Of course as a fan, I wanted Danny to win. But then it may have been too much too soon. And I actually am ok with Corbin Easton winning. So now it’s on to the next big thing for Danny. I am really curious about some of the big name Nashville song writers Danny is collaborating with on his next album. It could very well be some of the nominees from the show.

Congratulations to Carrie, Danny and Kellie for representing Idol.

  • Fullmoon

Congratulations to Carrie. Both Kelly and Carrie look beautiful and Carrie is stunning in red. Also congrats to Kellie and Danny for their nominations.

  • Triskel4

couple of things — Congrats to Danny. Kelly Clarkson looks fab, but I’m not completely in love with her dress.

now my rant. I’m sorry, I like Carrie. I like many of her songs. I think she’s pretty and she seems to be a nice person. But, there are lots of pretty female country singers whose songs I like and who seem to be nice people. Spread the love peeps. It’s getting so I want anyone to win but her, and that’s not fair to me ’cause I like(d) her. And it’s all about me, right?

Lol, Triske. Perhaps that is why Miranda Lambert cleaned up over Carrie at the CMAs and why they haven’t given Carrie an Entertainer of the Year award. They know she will always clean up at the fan awards things.

  • Lov3ly

I don’t mind the kind of fans-voted award. Imo the fans who made the fame and success of an artist; Fans who determine the income of the music industry, such as: Album sales, ticket sales, radio play, etc. The fans are the big part of all of them, therefore they have the right to be heard and considered.

I like what Toby Keith said,

“I railed for years, when I had the energy, against the machine. You got 1,500 people voting and they all have agendas,” said Toby Keith, 49, winner of the Video Visionary of the Year Award. “If you’ve had the biggest year, ticket sales, album sales, radio play and you get shut out at award shows because of agenda stuff, then the fans are like, we don’t understand and it takes credibility away from the organization.”

Btw, I love Carrie in red gown, it’s the second best red gown she wore at Red Carpet. The best one was at 2007 Movies Rock Event: http://www.carriephotos.com/albums/564/normal_00005.jpg
