My favorite teenager off the show ever. For me, Archie’s really her only competition — to me, both of them are extraordinary, and the others, including Jordin, have fine voices and good training but not really the connection to the music that I want in an artist (not that they won’t develop this as they age, of course.)

And yet she doesn’t seem to know it. “shocked” that this is happening. Child, you are such a rare musical and performing prodigy, and cute as a bug besides. I can see myself buying Allison music for the rest of my aging life!

Love that girl and hope she gets everything she needs to make it.

With Allison, I thought “personality” was code for “boinkability.” Meaning, Simon didn’t think guys would want to, er, you know, with Allison. (This all feels really creepy for a 16/17-year-old, but I still think it’s how Simon’s mind works.) Or the opposite of Megan, who IMO got a wild card completely on the fact that guys want her. Anybody besides me remember “The Player,” where Hollywood execs made their casting decisions completely on whether they found the actress boinkable?

Wouldn’t it be funny if Allison was the break out star of Season 8?

Allison’s official website (AllisonIrahetaOfficial.com) just put up a home page sometime this morning! At this point, it’s just one page that lets you sign up for email and text message updates. It asks for your birthdate — I usually like to avoid giving out any personal info unless it’s required, but in this case I thought it’d be a good idea to add some info to their database that tells them she has fans among us old folks!

The picture is clearly another one from the same photo shoot as the picture that mj included in this thread.

That humility is an excellent quality — helps prevent getting a big head. Cook has that same quality. (Never mind that he also has a (physically) big head! :biggrin_wp:)

So thrilled for Allison and she’s also the only teen I’ve been able to really get behind on this show. I’ve always been for having an older bottom age limit. With Allison, she has a musical maturity that knows no age.

I truly believe we’re going to see great things from her and a long career. I found myself rewatching her duet with Cindy Lauper yesterday. For me, that was the best performance on the finale.

Those rumors about Jive itching to get their hands on her seem to be true. Go Allison!

Allison is the ONLY teenager I’ve ever voted for on this show. I just love her voice and can’t wait to see what she does musically. Girl has unlimited potential, and if that’s not a glowing review from your “boss” (aka Barry Weiss), I don’t know what is. Wow.

I’m still just marveling over the fact that my top 3 this season have all been signed by 19/Sony. In all my years of watching, that’s never happened. I’m SO excited!!

I’m with some of you in that Allison is the only teenager that I have ever voted for on the show. And besides Brooke, she is the only female contestant I have ever wanted to follow post-Idol. I’m very excited for her. Hope they treat her well.

They would have been crazy not to sign Allison, imo. The judges never gave her the recognition she deserved. I thought she was kind of a throwback to the cool rocker-chicks from the ’80s that I admired as a kid (Joan Jett, Pat Benetar, Chrissy Hynde, Cyndi Lauper). Looking forward to hearing her again.

That’s great news! Allison was my second favorite, so I’m glad to see her signed. I wish Allison lots of luck, and I can easily see her in the music biz-it wouldn’t surprise me at all if she was the break out star of the season. Save the Rocker!

I don’t think there is any way she gets the Kristy Lee Cooke treatment, wasn’t Kristy proud she recorded the whole album in three days? Allison would never let that fly, and the record execs know they have a real talent with her. I did feel bad for Kristy though, it was really surprising how crappy a major record label would treat one of their artists, I think they only wanted to make a quick buck then dump her.

So freaking awesome, glowing, and true..I have so much faith that they want to make her the breakout star o f AI..look at her initials A.I= American idol…coincidence? haha

I love Allison! I knew she’d get a deal even if she lost the contest. In the end, I think she’s better off, too, because many Idol losers ended up becoming more successful than the winners themselves. Oh man, she’s about as bluesy as it gets! Listen to her live performance of Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone and tell me that wasn’t super-bluesy. When I imagine my ideal career for her, I always think about blues, blues-rock, and soul. Not that she needs to be that narrow, because she demonstrated on the show that she can sing pretty much anything!

I’m so happy for Allison but not surprised at all. She was my 2nd favorite and like many others have never voted for a teen until Allison. I really think she’ll do well.

I liked Slezak’s choices including my fave, Anoop.

Unlike Kris’ and Adam’s releases, Alli’s did NOT specify a Fall drop date. Might we expect an album before fall or early fall??!! Some of the early insider reports that have been dead on accurate so far indicated that Jive was well prepared to work with Alli long before season’s end. Even A&R had been selected along with some notable producers and writers. Very exciting times for Alli and for all who appreciate the privilege of witnessing a prodigy blossom.

This is fantastic news! Allison will be a great role model to lots of young girls especially in the latino community. She has a long career ahead of her. I hope to one day listen to a Spanish Rock album.

Interestingly, although the press release at Jive’s website didn’t specify a release timeframe as you noted, the copy on PR Newswire (a big clearinghouse for press releases) had the title: “American Idol Finalist Allison Iraheta Signs to 19 Recordings; Debut Album to be Released Fall 2009 on 19 Recordings/Jive Records”. Don’t know where they got that title from.

I would definitely not expect it before fall, because I don’t think they would want to release it while the tour’s going on and she thus isn’t available for PR. Even Kristy Lee Cook’s throwaway album last year was held until a couple of days after the tour. But yes, early fall is certainly a possibility.

Personally, I’d rather they take their time and do it right, even if it means waiting longer.

She will be so excited about her “tm” though. And, she’d be extremely happy to know about Allison’s record deal, provided she actually knew what a record deal was.

Obviously, I’ll have to buy this cd for sure. Allison was the first teen on this show that I ever voted for as well. Mostly because she was the first one who didn’t appear to be a pageant-bot to me.

This press release definetly gives the feeling that they were planning on signing her for a long time.
After “I can’t make you love me” and Kara saying “Let’s just make a record”, I was pretty sure she had a good shot at a deal, the following weeks just confirmed it.

Like everyone else here, I hope they stick with pop/rock stuff and don’t go too much in the teen/pop or rnb/pop, one or two track to bring some diversity are fine with me but nothing more than that.

Not surprised Jive signed her. Her sing-out was the best “moment” of season 8. She also had a great attitude–cheerful, positive, even when voted off. I’d love to see Jive pair her with Archie. Both are prodigies. Both have powerful, distinctive voices.
