PRMari
Part of the album is streaming on MySpace:

http://music.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=music.artistalbums&artistid=22742673&ap=0&albumid=14237052

I'm happy its only half of the songs right now. There's a lot to take in. So far, You Don't Know Me is my favorite, followed closely by D is For Dangerous and No One Else (I can see now why she's looking forward to singing that one live - I'm looking forward to hearing it live.)

When the music started for Still Breathing, I said "uh oh". It sounds like an Idol studio recording. I don't like that music.

I LOVE Just Like You acoustic. Its better than the recorded version. I miss the guitars and Dave's harmony. There's also more 'smoker voice' on the acoustic version. I loved when she sang 'I'm finally having fun, now drama go away' acoustic. My hand always goes to my heart when she sings that acoustic. It doesn't have the same impact on the studio version.

I hope she can make a live concert recording or an 'all acoustic' recording early in her career.

JohnM:However, as produced on the album, I think FIBOU and, to a lesser extent, Robot Love and Beat Me Up stick out like sore thumbs. I like 'em all, but I think the other tracks hang together as an album much better.

Agreed!
I think Robot will be a thumping live tune as well.
Dilana's Holiday has two guitars and it kicks good with a fuller sound. I'm hoping Allison also goes with two guitars and the other player isn't Alli but the roadie or the guitar tech. I'm only hearing one guitar though.
We'll see.

Awesome song samples. Except perhaps on FIBOU, IMHO these are excellent recordings.

The strong full-bodied unique voice her fans loved so much is always in front and never overpowered by the instrumentations. This is a classic example of simple but powerful recording.

Excited to have the CD.

LOVED the song. Just love her. She s like a wild animal - strong vibrant power and sooooooo much feeling, a natural. If she doesn't make it, I'm gonna go picket Jive for screwing up a sure thing. Lol.

Well, I, absolutely, don't think this song is too old for Allison. I still remember that, as a teen, I had anquish within, percieved, relationships that I was scarred by.
Some of those feeling were not totally rational, but the depth of emotion was there. Later we get to discern motives and consequences much more
clearly, and then we get to chuckle over our hapless, but keenly felt crushes or romances!!!!
I really like what I am hearing on her Album so far. SCARS and FIBOU are right on the target for the emotions I experienced in the "good old days"!!

Now she is a REAL rocker. I always thought of Allison as the real rocker on the show. She has the voice for rock. I can't wait for her cd. She was my favorite on the show. I always thought she would have the best rock cd of the all the so-called rockers on Idol

Good Job Allison I will be definitely buying your cd. You are my gurl.

Rub, I agree that FIBOU can be a great live song. I've felt right from the start that it would be easy to transform into a total rock song for live performance.

However, as produced on the album, I think FIBOU and, to a lesser extent, Robot Love and Beat Me Up stick out like sore thumbs. I like 'em all, but I think the other tracks hang together as an album much better.

Sort of on the flip side of that...

sylvanaire: THIS is what I wanted from her, and why FIBOU was such a shock to me.

Frankly, the shock to me was that they didn't make the whole album even poppier than FIBOU. I was expecting them to screw up this album, and I'm so thrilled that they didn't. It's still overproduced, but not wildly so judging from the clips and my one run through the whole thing; plus, overproduction seems to be almost a given on post-AI albums (with Kris' album seeming to be a welcome exception), and taking that into account, it sounds great.

And to buy the real thing. I pre-ordered it but my credit card was never charged, so I don't think it went through. These pre-orders never seem to work for me.
You shouldn't get charged until the order is processed, which can't happen until the album is actually out so don't worry about it. It probably went through fine.

Anybody know if release dates for downloads are different from country to country?
Most likely.

FIBOU resides in the album right where it should. Just as "Money" did for Pink Floyd in Dark Side Of The Moon. I have a feeling Friday will fit perfect in a live setlist - given the varied songs in the album - with it's drum and bass break beats. And, if her vocals stay true and raw, Friday maybe one of the best live trax in the album along with Holiday, for me.
Mark my words.
