The first thing that came to my mind was “Woah! she’s lost a ton of weight!”, then…woah! That Cry baby was insane! Then Damn! She sure gets some love from the Filipinos. Scars sounded fantastic as well.

Damn, that girl can sing. I can’t wait until she finds her way in this business because she will have hits when the time and song is right. I can’t wait to see her in June.

I hate to say it, because i don’t think it’s particularly healthy for 17-year olds to lose weight, but i think she looks lot better like this than she did like year ago.
I just wish she would use some colors. The whole black all the time is kinda repulsive for me. She is barely 18, wear some green, red or yellow sometimes girl!!!! You will look younger! She’s acting like kid but dressing like 30-year old. I don’t know i like her best in some jeans, t-shirt and jacket (no leather!)
She sings beautifully, although these are not the best songs she has on the album.

I just got back from Allison’s concert here in Manila. She did 6 songs (I cant remember the titles since I’m not very familiar with her album).

Impression: Wow. She really has a very very powerful voice. Her best performance IMO is “Cry Baby” and “Scars”. Her stage presence is out of this world. She didn’t have a band with her so they just played the instrumental tracks of her songs. So, basically it’s just her and an empty platform. She moved around so much, I think she used every inch of the stage. Hahaha

That FIBOU! That was a lot of fun! She sure has some serious swagger!

Allison has some set of pipes well beyond her years… (yeah I know, not original, but it is so true) and she look amazing. I hope the weight loss is her doing and not something she was forced to do. Maybe it is just like Adam case is she is so busy that the energy she is exerting is helping her lose weight. She has great figure. Allison just turned 18 and WOW men are going to be calling. I love Allison I am glad she is going on tour with Adam and Orianthi. I hope she find much success. I think she is developing who she is and what her style will be. I also think she will be a big hit on her next album. I believe there will be a next album because her weak sales and lack of buzz has more to do with the Management company and how the presented her or marketed her then it has to do with Allison. I have said this many times before and I know I am repeating myself. I just think Allison is an amazing talent and I don’t want her to get lost in the mix. She is too good for that to happen. IMHO

Allison’s weight loss is extremely flattering to her. She’s probably off the junk food and onto food that will nourish the body during touring. Her voice is astounding on Cry Baby, but on both videos, her hand movements are bothersome. She’s either pointing to herself or pointing to the audience or she has that weird Mariah Carey palming toward the audience. I hope she learns how to make the most of her hand gestures and uses them very sparingly in the future. Go Allison!

As I promised mj, here’s my little recap.

Wow! Allison is looking hot! That was my first reaction when Allison came out on the stage for her mini-show last night (it’s now past midnight here). I’ve always thought Allison is cute but I didn’t expect her to look this pretty and sexy in person. Heh.

Allison’s show was advertised to be at 5 pm. I wasn’t sure I would be able to make it in time to go and see her since I had had to get my test results from the hospital and see my doctor, whose clinic is at 4-6 pm (the show was held in a mall located in another city). When the doctor didn’t arrive until it was almost 5 pm, I really thought there was no chance I could make it. However, on my way back home (it was already around 5:30 pm), a friend told me on twitter that the show wasn’t going to start until 6 pm, so I decided to proceed to the venue and take a chance that the traffic was not yet that horrific. It wasn’t (whooo!) and I made it to the mall a little past 6. As I walked/limped to the show area, I could hear music playing on the loudspeakers; it was Jason Castro’s LJFILA (Jason fangirl here, heh ), so I knew Allison hadn’t started yet. Yippee! I made it! It would turn out the show wouldn’t start until almost an hour later. Sigh.

Before Allison came out, the VJs of Channel [V] Philippines, which is the main sponsor of the show, came to the stage and talked about things Allison. They also facilitated a question and answer game for the audience, with Allison/Channel [V} goodies in a bag for prizes. (I didn’t play. I should have. Almost half of the people didn’t get the answers exactly right but some still got their goodie bags. lol)

Finally, Allison entered to cheers from the audience. As I already said above, she looked quite stunning. =D (Kudos to the crowd who stayed and waited for the show to finally start. That was a long wait, especially for those who arrived at 5 pm or earlier.)

I think the hand movements are her way of compensating for the t-rex arm she’s trying not to do.

Anyway, just to add — I also love how she commanded the stage earlier (she event went downstage to the crowd during Crybaby and FIBOU; the crowd was awesome BTW). She definitely has come a looong way from those awkward interviews. The male hosts were trying to hit on her post-perf and she made good zingers as comeback.

Loved Cry Baby. I think the weight loss is flattering, too, but hope it was done the right way. I would love to see her wear something other than black, too, but she should continue to do what makes her feel and be happy. Looking forward to seeing her grow. Rock on Alison!!!

Allison started off her set with Robot Love. I’m not going to lie…it isn’t one of my favorites from the album. =P It was an energetic opening, though. She followed it up with No One Else, which is a track I like better. She chattered a bit about how it was written by Kara and Pink before singing. Afterwards, she did Don’t Waste The Pretty. She followed it up with Scars, which is the song I had been waiting for. Heh. Before ending the show with Friday I’ll Be Over U, she did a rocking cover of her Idol song Cry Baby. She went into the crowd on both of these songs.

In the radio interviews, Allison said she would be doing only 5 songs, so I suppose Cry Baby was sort of an extra, a special number for the Pinoy crowd. Nice. =)

In between numbers, Allison talked about how the heat here in Manila is melting her face and how she likes adobo. She also thanked the crowd constantly; she said “Salamat” a couple of times. (She said the Pinoy audience is amazing (as opposed to how the LA crowds sometimes “don’t care.” Heh.)

There’s no question this girl has got the pipes. I just think that some of her gestures and movements are unnecessary at times; she should just let her voice do the work. =)

After the show, there was an “interview” portion with the VJs. The audience were also allowed to ask her questions. As far as I can recall, three of the questions posed had to do with whether she would want to write a song with David Cook (“yes”), whether she would date Archie (“Archie is cute, but no; he’s like a little brother”), and the Glambert tour (she’s excited).

After a short break, she came back to sign autographs on CDs purchased at the sponsoring record store. She also posed for pictures with the fans. (I got both an autograph and a pic. Woot!) She looked a little tired and pretty sweaty by that time, but she was still nice and accommodating and was still ready to goof around…

Allison is truly a wonderful singer, and so much fun to watch. This gal just turned 18yrs old. She can sing bilingually, she has a rock gal voice extraordinaire, has learned guitar and she is a rising star.Season 8 should have been A & A not Kris, tho he is sweet.

Cry Baby performance is PRO. Crowd loves it. Scars is good! FIBOU not 4 me.

No One Else – Allison Iraheta Live in Manila

Alli has lost a little weight, but not too much. She must be lean and mean for her tour. She tired out a little on FIBOU today. A little toning and aerobics will cure that.

She just flew 16 hours, she was jet lagged, getting tired doing FIBOU is pretty reasonable

I’m sorry I was not able to record Robot Love. For some reason, at the start of the number, my camera indicated it had ran out of memory, which was weird because I emptied that card of all other contents earlier in the day. Good thing I had a spare.

A few other comments…

Allison did a mic toss a couple of times.
The male VJs kept flirting with her on stage. Allison joked back she wanted to get away from them.
I wish she had sang Trouble Is and You Don’t Know Me, which are two of the songs I like from the album. I also thought she was going to do D Is For Dangerous, but it wasn’t in her setlist.

(I have already seen four Idols this year – Kris, Jason, Kelly, and Allison. I wonder who is coming next. Maybe Adam Lambert? ;P)

Oh snaps! Just saying that she’s allowed to be a little tired, that’s all. She herself said in that interview that she was going on adrenaline because she was dead tired.

Thanks to mj for the thread, and to all who shared pics and videos of Allison’s visit to the Philippines. I really enjoy her goofy personality, and of course, her singing. I think she has moved away form the T-Rex arm, although it never really bothered me to begin with. I though her arm movements in her performances for this show were totally appropriate and gave energy to her songs. Go Alli! I would love it if she could get a break out hit here i the US. I want her around making music for years to come!

Thanks for the recap purplesmile, so jealous that you got to see her live (as live as no band) means.

What size crowd would you estimate it to have been?

Don’t ask about an estimate figure because I suck at anything that has to do with numbers, but I thought it was a pretty good-sized crowd for a very short mall show. =P (Especially considering that that crowd had to wait a long time for the show to begin…)

Very few rock singers sound good live on a small stage in a mall with a karaoke backing track, and even fewer sound any good in youtube recordings of said performances. By contrast, Allison sounded amazing! She may have lost energy during FIBOU, but the rest were spot-on!

In the outro part of FIBOU, Allison can practically pick and choose what sections to play because these parts were overdubs in the studio. Thats why its different everytime she does it. Realistically, it would be impossible to sing exactly like the studio version. Except here, she hasn’t been able master this tune live. Which leads me to believe that her backup singers(her band) weren’t hitting the notes in key during previews live versions of this song. FRIDAY sounds superb here – it could be attributable to a healthier vocal chord as well.

What a gem that Cry baby is. This is the first time she sings the studio, longer version with solid vocals -the song caters to her sweet spot- and the ending wasn’t verbatim, but close enough for me to mp3 it to iPod. Not bad at all. Boy has she lost weight, nice.

nice she sounded really great here and she looked pretty, shes lost a lot of weight but I agree she looks better now..she looks younger. I also think there was less hand gesturing/flailing so thats good…
I really wish her the best…shes very talented and she deserves to have more success…I just think the record company needs to promote her singles more…and I agree she should wear something other than black every now and then.

The Phillipines may not be as big as the US, but seems to be a big market (90 million inhabitants), and her song Scars was Nr.2 at some station there even before it was released as a single in the US. So I am happy for her and her success there! (And what’s the problem US people? Give her the success she deserves!)
