Via Michael Slezak at EW:

Allison Iraheta fanboy, Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Slezak, got a hold of the songwriting and production credits for Allison’s debut album, Just Like You, set to drop December 1, and he’s posted them, just for us Idoloonies.

The title track, “Just Like You” is a Max Martin tune (as is her single, “Friday I’ll Be Over U).   There’s a Pink/Kara DioGuardi/Greg Wells tune, “No One Else”, a co-write with David Hodges, “You Don’t Know Me” and a Kevin Rudolf tune, “Beat Me Up”.   Howard Benson produced “Still Breathing”.

Gary Glitter gets a credit on “Robot Love” I’m assuming that’s a sample.   Gary Glitter is in jail on a pedophile charge right now. Ahem.

UPDATE: A couple more notes, from comments:

  • “Holiday” is a cover of a Dilana (Rock Star: Supernova) song–listen HERE.
  • And, a demo of the Aimee Proal song, “Trouble Is” at Aimee’s MySpace HERE.

Hey, Dilana’s from Rockstar’s got a song on here. Cool.

  • dhunken

Great for Allison…And she has writing credit on one song…I happy for her….Now we need snippets!!!!

  • cookbunny

Another songwriting credit on “No One Else”: Alecia Moore = Pink.

On “Still Breathing,” is Chioma Eze any relation to Chikeze Eze?

  • Cheetara86

Oh, Allison must have been so excited to know that her idol, Pink, co-wrote a song for her album.

  • LoveDaRocker

    Now we need snippets!!!!

No kidding!. I click on Walmart’s previews section (a few times a day) to hear “previous are currently unavailable for this advance product”.

  • Cheetara86

We will get snippets on November 10th

I think Holiday is a cover of an old song Dilana did. Dave Bassett co-wrote it with Dilana..here is the song: http://popup.lala.com/popup/360569449485697650

  • JohnM

    Wahoo!!!!

We Allison-heads are very happy to know for sure that “Trouble Is” is the Aime Proal song, as it sounds like something she’ll hit a home run with. Hear Aime Proal’s demo at her Myspace.

Can I just tell you how much I love the fact that there’s a song called ROBOT LOVE on her album????

  • Cheetara86

You can also listen to Holiday here: http://www.imeem.com/artists/dilana/music/jfTTUmzP/dilana-holiday/

Seems like she will be doing a lot less poppy songs. :)

I could be wrong but I don’t think Gary Glitter is is prison anymore .. I think he was released last year .. I remember him being all over the news when he flew back to the UK from Vietnam where he was serving his time .. it was towards the end of last year. But wherever he is I doubt he’s writing new songs .. so yeah it’ll probably be a sample

    Love it.

  • PRMari

This is all looking very promising. Allison said her favorite songs from the album are Holiday and No one else, the Kara/Pink song. No wonder she loves those two songs, Holiday is perfect for her and Pink? The girl must be have been so excited about recording this song.

I’m so excited for this album it’s ridiculous!

  • JohnM

“Holiday” does sound great for her. I wouldn’t mind if they just used that same backing track for the album! Sounds a lot like a Pink song — and, after I was saying the other day that Green Day did a song called Holiday (though I certainly didn’t think it was the same song), I was interested to find that the beat of this song sounds very much like the Green Day song!

  • adamisthemanfan

    Holy Shit…seriously not good.
Anywho, that Holiday song sounds great..a perfect fit for Allison…
good for her…I hope her album does well. She needs more radio promo like Adam, especially considering she doesnt have any “big” performances scheduled that we know of, but I may be wring its still early to tell…and she has another month for her single to catch some steam…her peeps are doing a good job, aside from the Itunes stint.

  • PRMari

She’ll be performing in Good morning American the day the album comes out. It may not be the AMAs but it’s good.

  • windmills

Ooooh I like Trouble Is for Allison! I’ll listen to Holiday later.

  • TwigLA

I really liked the Aimee Proal song. I can hear Allison doing this and it being beautiful. Dilana … I don’t like her. But I think Allison could make the song good.

Great that she has some Pink on there and a lot of the others look interesting. I’m sure it will be a well rounded debut.

  • Cheetara86

She needs more radio promo like Adam, especially considering she doesnt have any ‘big’ performances scheduled that we know of,

More gigs are popping up for Allison. She’ll be doing radio stuff next week, she should be touring soon, she’ll be joining Kris/Leona/The Fray for an event at House of Blues event, etc…

  • PRMari

That’s really annoying, that poll has nothing to do with this at the moment :/

That is exciting fare. Holiday and Trouble Is both suit Alli very well. HITS I say! I join the ranks of those who canno wait for the album.

  • Rub

How about that Holiday song – how unreal it would sound with Allison on vocals. Its rock. That fact that Benson made it with 2 trax puts this record solid on rock n roll ground, especially with 2 of my favorite track titles. Interesting to point in Adam’s record, the only song or snippet that caught my attention was “aftermath” – the only Benson produced track on his album.
Max Martin has 2 trax as well and its good to have his presence in Allison’s record. Like it or not, the man can produce hit records.
Whats up with Gary Glitter(I was little when people liked his music) I hope it has nothing to do with glam as I don’t see it making a return.

Hey JohnM, “Trouble Is”=awesome, and is gonna rock or at least will have elements of rock, I think. The producer Ron Aniello worked with Days of The New – great band.

One of my favorites songs by Days of The New with Travis Meeks on Vocals
    -Shelf in the Room-.

Trouble Is” will be a show stopper. I have just listened to it again and can almost hear Alli singing it. The melody, lyrics, and mood lend themselves to treatment that few other than Alli can do justice.

  • tinawina

Wow, those songs sound so PERFECT for Allison! And she has Carrie’s manager? I know things have been wonky with her rollout, but somehow I don’t think there is any intention to let her career die. They may be delaying her thing a bit – probably to concentrate on Carrie for a sec – but I think in the long run Allie will be just fine.

I cannot wait to hear this.

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

Damn. I cannot wait for this chick’s album. :) Glad I voted for her. :-)

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

ETA: Gary Glitter is creepy. Doesn’t sound like they worked together in the same space, though.

  • StevenD

I really liked “Trouble Is” and think Allison with her wise beyond her years voice is going to sell it for all it’s worth. I actually owned the Dilana track “Holiday” for years as I was a big fan of hers on Rockstar (interesting side note Adam used her version of “Ring of Fire” on Idol.) I always thought of Allison as a younger version of Dilana so I’m excited it’s coming full circle.

  • Rub

    just saw the youtube.
Dilana’s Holiday live sounds so SICK!!!! HOLY!!!!
what a killer riff and a guitar solo too. WOW!!!
I haven’t been this excited since Guns n’ Fn’ Roses!

  • nina.t

This girl is awesome. Her voice is so powerful, full of emotions, and unique. She is charismatic, grounded, eloquent, charming, beautiful, so talented. Can’t wait for Dec and her album.

Dilana’s Holiday cover – just wow! PERFECT! ROCK IS ALIVE!

demo of Aimee Proal’s Trouble is – simply beautifull

Beat Me Up by Kevin Rudolf – is this the song in reference to which he called Allison the new Pat Benatar!?

No One Else written by PINK herself – a dream come true for Allison, next step a duet with those two is needed! :P

You Don’t Know Me – written by Allison, Hodges and Mitch Allan (the frontman of SR-71 a punk rock band!), Hogdes and Allan produced it so ,aybe it’s a punk rock song? or at least rock song?

two songs by Max Martin – the (generic) hitmaker

some interesting titles like Robot Love, D is for Dangerous

    some great producers like Benson

    some great writers!

I think with the effort they put into her album Allison is here to stay! All we need is some promo and the music will sell itself!

  • LoveDaRocker

Dilana’s Holiday cover ‘“ just wow! PERFECT! ROCK IS ALIVE!

Love it, however, after sleeping on it I have a couple of concerns:
Is anyone bothered by the fact that this is a cover? Seems like for Kris’ LLWD some people were. I personally don’t care.
Also, isn’t Dilana releasing an album this month (according to Wikipedia)? Will the album include “Holiday”? Dilana has not released Holiday in an album yet (again, according to Wikipedia), so I would guess she will release it in the upcoming album. Wouldn’t it be bad that two somewhat similar artists are dropping albums the same month containing the same song?
Disclaimer: I am not a music biz person. I blame my current fanatism on Allison. So, if my concern about Dilana and Allison releasing the same song the same month is laughable, I apologize.

  • oceana

Hi, LoveDaRocker. I think we’re not positive it’s the same Holiday (I could be wrong) and also we don’t know if Dilana will put the song on her cd, also they didn’t release Holiday as the first single, that’s why Kris’s got so much attention, it was the first single.

Just having it on the cd shouldn’t be a problem, and if it’s going to be on Dilana’s new cd, seems like the producers would know that, and if so, they must have thought it would be okay. I’m just guessing, but they are good questions and thoughtful.

  • oceana

Yikes, it won’t let me edit my post, why not? Anyway, of course we do know now that it’s the same Holiday, co-written by Dilana, so I wish I could delete that part from my post ^^

  • Rub

I don’t think Holiday will be released as a single, but more of a filler to enjoy live for us fans. I’m not worried, if anything I enforce it.

  • Nico

    @LoveDaRocker
…..and that’s probably why I think Holiday will never be a single from Allison’s album. From what I know Dilana wrote that song after Rock Star Supernova (it’s about how much her life changed) and released it on digital b-side to her Ring Of Fire version on iTunes in 2007. Yes, Holiday will be on Dilana’s new album, it’s already her single form it and there’s a music video out already (check out popwatch on EW). Dilana’s label, the Rusty Harp is an indie label… as much as talented I consider Dilana, an indie label won’t provide her with much funds to promote her, even her music video is very cheap, so she will stay on the alternative more underground side. Jive will (eventually) promote Allison, which will/is considered a mainstream artist. What I do hope is that they didn’t change Holiday’s arrangement to make it more pop… that would be a failure for them and disappointment for us. I’m not bothered it’s a cover and I would wish in the future for both of them to collaborate on songs, coz they are similar artists. Holiday is a perfect fit for Allison (it satisfies her personal music taste) and us (who want rock music from her). It’s also a great promotion for Dilana and her new album, much bigger promotion that her indie label could ever give her…

About the LLWD issue. I thing that people were bothered that a singer who they imagined to be this great songwriter and and brilliant artist when it comes to re-arrangin songs released as his first single a song by The Script (who mainstream and quite big in Europe and are on a big label) and sang it in the exact same way. Allison isn’t wasn’t labeled by her fans in the same way as Kris. Foremost people expect her to have some rock songs on her album, to sing her heart out and to make a great performance. Other skills, like songwriting, will come with age…

  • Nico

Oceana: Dilana confirmed on her facebook that her Holiday is on Allison’s album

  • LoveDaRocker

Yikes, it won’t let me edit my post, why not?

I know! I used that feature a lot, and now it doesn’t come up. MJ wassuppp!
As a correction: Allison’s album drops in Dec. and Dilana’s in Nov., so, technically, not in the same month. But y’all got the point.

  • PRMari

There’s nothing left for me to say, but I’ll still say it, heh. I agree with all this. It’s the same song, it will go in Dilana’s album but it’s an indie label and it probably won’t be a single for Allison (pity); but trust that it will be performed by her live. I can assure you that much. Having a cover isn’t a problem, I agree that the issue people had with Kris’ is that it was his first single, coming from a band that’s mainstream and he didn’t do anything different with the song, which was his main specialty while on Idol.

In that list of song writers and producers, Toby Gad is also a pretty big name, albeit a pop one.

I think with the effort they put into her album Allison is here to stay! All we need is some promo and the music will sell itself!

It sure seems like it, very excited :)

  • LoveDaRocker

Regarding LLWD, maybe the problem was, as an EW.com poster suggested, that bitter anti-Kris Glamberts blew the issue out of proportion. To me it wasn’t an issue because I (and most Idoloonies) did not know The Script, much less their B-side LLWD. So, as NBC used to say for their re-runs “if you didn’t see it, its new to you.”

  • JohnM

LoveDaRocker: Is anyone bothered by the fact that this is a cover?

Speaking for myself, absolutely not. This kind of thing has gone on for decades (for example, see the Beatles’ early albums, which had plenty of R&B covers). And it’s especially un-noteworthy when you’re talking about a cover of a little-known song (which this is) by a little-known artist (which this is).

Also, isn’t Dilana releasing an album this month (according to Wikipedia)? Will the album include ‘Holiday’ ? [...] Wouldn’t it be bad that two somewhat similar artists are dropping albums the same month containing the same song?

As has been noted, yes, Dilana’s album will include Holiday. But that still doesn’t bother me at all. Even if, say, Allison’s version were to be released as a single, it would only cause a stir among the online fussbudgets, while Dilana would be laughing all the way to the bank to cash her songwriting royalty checks — making more money off it than Allison, if I understand the royalty allocations to writers vs. performers correctly.

And yes, I do think that Allison’s version could be released as a single (at least, presuming Dilana’s doesn’t go anywhere, which it likely won’t). Rapid-fire single releases of the same song do happen. The case that always sticks in my mind is Can We Still Be Friends back in the 70s, which Todd Rundgren wrote and got into the Top 40, and which Robert Palmer released a year later. I see from Wiki that Palmer’s cover didn’t get quite as high on the charts, but I could’ve sworn at the time that it was a bigger hit, as I recall hearing it on the radio a lot more than Rundgren’s original.

Anyway, assuming Dilana’s single remains obscure, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see it as a single for Allison. Of course, I also wouldn’t be surprised to see it not be a single.

  • 1994yahoo

‘trouble is’ sounds much better than fridau i’ll be over u

  • Rub

About the producers. Adam mentions frequently of the best producers he’s working with, and it’s true, he’s got some of the best in the business in terms of pop. I would say pound for pound Allison is right up there in quality producers. Right down to a Pink song each. Allison just doesn’t mention(brag) about them. I’m a little dissapointed in Cavallo though, but Ill wait for the full trax for a final jugment.

  • PRMari

Maybe they’ll release it as a single after she hits 18, heh.

I don’t think it will be a single, not because it’s a cover but because of the type of song/music it is and the type of artist they may want Allison to project at the moment. I sort of see this song as a bonus for Allison and her Idol fans who want to see her rock out hard. Hopefully it’s a sign that in time, if she’s successful with this album, she may be allowed to do more music similar to this.

I keep on being pleasently surprised by how they’re treating her musically and image wise. I thought for sure they would make her change her hair color and poppify her image, thankfully, that didn’t happen. I thought they wouldn’t let her record in Spanish and they did. I didn’t think we’d be getting any rock tracks in this album, I guess I was wrong. Add that to her very cool looking mixed gender band and I’m liking what I’m seeing so far.

  • JohnM

PRMari: Maybe they’ll release it as a single after she hits 18, heh.

Yeah — I almost said something in my last post about the whole swearing thing — talk about driving the online fussbudgets crazy!

I keep on being pleasently surprised by how they’re treating her musically and image wise.

Exactly. My expectations for this album were very low, and now with all the tidbits we’ve gotten I’m starting to have a hard time keeping my expectations from rising too much. Definitely a better problem to have than the opposite!

Now that we’ve seen the artwork for the back cover of the CD, it certainly seems like they’re going for an “insurgent rocker” vibe. I think it’s kind of an interesting contrast with the image that’s going to be printed on the CD itself, which seems more like a Demi-style thing. Maybe it’s the same sort of one-foot-in-each-world thing that I’ve said about FIBOU — something to appeal to the more teeny-bop crowd, and something to appeal to the other folks.

  • PRMari

Yeah ‘” I almost said something in my last post about the whole swearing thing ‘” talk about driving the online fussbudgets crazy!

It’s not like she doesn’t already use that word all the time, so for us fans is nothing new.

I, too, am really happy with how she’s been handled so far. I would also bet that Allison herself has had a lot of input. I truly believe, as Adam said, “she has a wisdom beyond her years” (despite how she might come across at times).

Its going to be really, really fun to see how her career progresses.

    El viernes te olvido yo!
    Very good too.

  • LoveDaRocker

Is it just me, or does the Spanish version is less produced/have more pure Allison sound than the Engish one. It might be just me because Spanish is my first language.

  • JohnM

No, it’s not just you, LoveDaRocker. I listened to it a couple of hours ago at her street team site, and I noticed the more raw voice sound right away. Good stuff. I’m sure it was a quicker/cheaper production than Max Martin’s — and less production is better in many cases, especially hers. I also noticed that it sounded like they didn’t re-do all the harmony vocals — I don’t think I hear the harmony line on the equvalent of “when I’m gone” in the chorus.

I’ll be interested to hear you Spanish speakers’ take on the lyrics and what changes were made. I already know about the title change to “forget”.

  • Rub

I’ll let you guys know when I get home. My iPhone got owned by flash codec.

  • LoveDaRocker

At first glance, the English version is more “You messed up, lied to me, so go away”; the Spanish version seems more more like “You really hurt me, I am leaving (Adios, me voy)”. It seems subtle, but in the Spanish one there seems to be more emotion, like you sense she got hurt. In the English version it sounds more like it was a hookup that just didn’t work out.
BTW, in the Spanish version there is an implication that there was a previous night: “la noche de ayer se acabo” or “yesterday night is over”, which I don’t get from the English one; also “me tuviste, me olvidaste” which could translate into “you HAD me and forgot me”. That line in the English version goes “you got me to forget me”, which doesn’t sound as strong.
I would need more time with it than what I had in order to fully flush it out.

  • Rub

x1067 just confirmed Allison for the HOB Dec. 18th Gig. Weird line up with Kris, The Fray, Lewis, Castro and rocking Allison? She’s gonna blow everybody off the stage!

  • JohnM

Yeah, Kris is the only other performer on that bill who rocks at all. And to make it even more weird, it looks (not surprisingly) as though she’ll be the first act, burning up all the oxygen in the room before anyone else comes on. :-)

Having said that, I think these things are pretty much like the AI tour, where you have to expect different genres and be able to switch gears. And, having seen the Season 7 AI tour as well, I can attest to the fact that although Jason isn’t a rocker and has the laid-back stoner image, he has serious stage presence.

    El viernes te olvido yo!
    Very good too.

Thanks for bringing the link over. She sounds really good…I like the vocal roughness of this version — more trademark Allison. Hope we get the album song snippets soon as I’m anxious to hear what the rest of it will sound like.

  • LoveDaRocker

Ok, need some help from other Spanish ears.
I really think that in the Spanish version she says:
Me tuviste, me olvidaste, oh, oh, oh, se termino
Me cogiste, me olvidaste, el viernes te olvido yo

Dudes and dudettes, in some countries this translates into:
You had me, forgot me, its over
You F@#! me, forgot me, FIBOU
From where I am, the word means “take,” and there is no negative meaning whatsoever. But I strongly believe that, at least in Mexico, its the four letter word. Here heritage is Salvadorian, nevertheless, being from LA, this must have been deliberate.
How’s that for an edge …

  • PRMari

No, it says “Me tuviste, me olvidaste” which means “you had me, you forgot me”. The implication is pretty much the same.

At first glance, the English version is more ‘You messed up, lied to me, so go away’ ; the Spanish version seems more more like ‘You really hurt me, I am leaving (Adios, me voy)’ . It seems subtle, but in the Spanish one there seems to be more emotion, like you sense she got hurt. In the English version it sounds more like it was a hookup that just didn’t work out.

I totally agree with this. The Spanish version sounds more serious, more emotional and way more mature. There are implications of a previous night. There’s pain in this one, nut just anger.

Her voice is also much more Allison in this version. At first I thought I was going to be disappointed with it, but I actually like this version even better.

  • LoveDaRocker

    PRMari
I just listened to it again. I really believe that in the second verse she changes “tuviste” por “cogiste”. In fact, I am going to download this one because, I am afraid, they will change it.

  • LoveDaRocker

In any case, lets agree to disagree.

  • PRMari

Seriously? Oy, if that’s true then yeah…how’s that for edgy? Still, regardless of the wording the implication is the same by using the “la noche de ayer se acabo” line and saying “me tuviste” it’s talking about more than hand holding in the hallway, :)

  • LoveDaRocker

Well, I would disagree with that. You can imply all you want. In fact, you could go even further (e.g., Alejandra Guzman’s “Hacer el Amor con otro” leaves nothing to the imagination). However, could you use the word “coger”? I am not from Mexico, but I wonder if they have similar FCC regulations as we do here, and if that word would be bleeped/muted of a publicly broadcasted song.

  • PRMari

Here in Puerto Rico it doesn’t mean anything other than to take. But again, the meaning is the same, the guy used her for sex and then left her. I don’t think it would get censored in US stations but I could be wrong.

  • LoveDaRocker

Puertorican salsa singers have a long history of steamy songs (Eddie Santiago, Frankie Ruiz, Tito Rojas, et. al.). None has used “chingar”, that I can recall.
