Allison Iraheta was just a teenager when she competed on Season 8 of American Idol in 2009. She’s 21 now and old enough to do adult stuff like…get married.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Allison and her Halo Circus bandmate, Matthew Hagar ELOPED back in January. The two kept their marriage private, even as their professional relationship deepened (That is, until THR blew their cover).
The two met through Allison’s friend, guitarist David Immerman, who had written a song with Matthew and wanted Allison to record the vocal.
Said Allison, in a recent interview with THR about the request, “I thought, why not? I’m not doing anything.” When Matthew wondered why she had stopped writing and recording music, Allison confessed that being dropped by her label had set her back.
“Matthew said we should write a song and have fun,” said Allison. “Two or three weeks after that we wrote our first song [titled “Gone”]. We liked being creative, and I thought it might be an opportunity to reintroduce myself to the music world. And it was.”
“Our souls were patched together in this project,” says Iraheta. “It was so honest. We felt like a family, so we continued to write as a band.”
Aw. Isn’t that sweet? Matthew was the musical director for Mandy Moore, worked with members of Duran Duran and graduated from the Berklee College of Music in 1991 (NOT A TYPO!)
