Allison Iraheta sat down with the LA Times Idoltracker to answer fans twitter questions.

The jist:

  • “Holiday” is Allison’s favorite song to perform.
  • Although she knows how to drive, Allison does not have a drivers license yet. She plans to go for it when she turns 18 in a few months.
  • Allison continues to write songs, and hopes to have more of her own songs on the next album
  • Allison hopes to record an album in Spanish some day.

Allison is currently on a tour of radio stations promoting her single, “Friday I’ll Be Over U”.  Check out a few performances right HERE.

    Spanish Rock album please …

  • PRMari

I would love an entire album in Spanish at some point down the line. I think she would do well. Heck yes! Spanish Rock album.

  • oceana

I’m glad she is writing songs. I love Spanish FIBOU and would love to hear more Spanish songs.

  • Indigobunting

Allison is so much fun to listen to; she has such energy.

  • tinydance

Allison should do a Spanish language cd version of her songs. Spanish stations love music videos also and I could see Allison doing that.

In case anyone is interested, there’s a different acoustic version of No One Else floating around that was posted on youtube by the Alliholics. It’s really, really good, great quality, the only unfortunate thing is that it cuts off before the end of the song.

It is unfortunate that No One Else is cut off before the end, because it is, so, so, so much better than the one the other day! (which wasn’t bad, at all). Allison’s musical learning curve is phenomenal – she just keeps making improvements. Even the FIBOU sounds so much better vocally, compared to earlier versions. Just slight, subtle nuances in her delivery are making something really good even better.

It’s frightening to think how good she’s going to be in a couple years.

    hello???

there’s a different acoustic version of No One Else

Now we are talking! This version is amazing, much better than the one MJ posted. She really adapted to the setting and delivered a powerful-yet-tender vocal. I can’t get enough of her!

  • PRMari

Well, I saw such few posts here I didn’t think anyone was hanging around this thread.

  • LoveDaRocker

I don’t know about others, but I check whichever Allison-related post is latest multiple times a day. Especially now that allisoniraheta.com is kind-of wacky. The comments on forum topics on that site appear out of chronological order and is really confusing to read them. I don’t think is any setting on my part because jordison seems to also experience the issue, and I don’t recall making any changes to my account or my browser.

  • PRMari

I’m having the same problem. I commented there but of course, you can’t find my post because it didn’t show up in chronological order. That board is just wacked.

Anyway, this is a real treat…videos from last night in Grand Rapids. Take a look at that crazy hair. The setting is very intimate, no microphone even. She gets the audience really going with Don’t waste the pretty:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CDVRs3YVjY

    She also did Scars.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72p7-8MoQKo

  • LoveDaRocker

    Thanks.
A couple of observations about her DWTP performance:
I don’t mind too much the hair. Not my favorite look, but its ok. My main problem is when she covers her face.
It’s really interesting how she can go in and out of the “zone” so quickly (e.g., to make fun of people not ready to clap, even though she told them beforehand).
I understand why people were not ready. Experiencing Alli in such an intimate setting (not even a mic!) has to be hypnotic :-) .

  • PRMari

I like the crazy hair, she’s young, funky and has spunk, not to mention she’s always had such a colorful and fun personality, it’s normal for that to be reflected on the way she looks. So it’s ok to have crazy hair. In this case, it didn’t cover her face so that’s even better.

It really is impressive how she can just go in and out of the song and I totally agree with you, it has to be hypnotic. Just notice how nobody makes any noise while she’s singing.

Well, I saw such few posts here I didn’t think anyone was hanging around this thread.

Since I’m on the West Coast, I always seem to be running behind on the threads. I wrote a really long post for Allison’s last thread, addressing some points raised between posters, only to find the thread died because this new one emerged on, ironically, Twitter questions.

Don’t get me wrong – any Allison thread is a good thread. It just took me a little time to catch up – sometimes new threads sneak up on me.

As to Grand Rapids – I will repeat my comment from yesterday – Allison’s learning curve has been phenomenal. Her timing, phrasing – everything – is getting so much more refined. Her interaction with the interviewers and audience is getting beyond improved – it’s actually quite good.

As for the hair – I agree that my main concern is that it not cover her face. Funny – from certain angles it looks like she has wings. :)

  • LoveDaRocker

    jordison:
Your comment about “being behind” made me go back and look at the tweet discussion on the previous thread.
Here is the article you referred to in your not-that-long comment:
    Allison-being-nice

  • jordison

    not-that-long comment:

I guess it really wasn’t that long, but I spent a lot of time thinking about it and writing it. My perception was that it was long.

  • PRMari

I remember reading that, it was during Disco Night, the third time she hit bottom 3 for no good reason.

Whatever few complains some minuscule number of people had during tour about her interaction with the fans have to be taken with a grain of salt. We have to remember that people going to the tour were not all there for her and not all of them even liked her to begin with.

Allison has been nothing but appreciative and really nice to her fans, she even sends direct messages on twitter. As far as I can tell, she’s a good young woman and very grounded and responsible, but she’s just not an innocent and naive little flower, there’s a difference and not being so isn’t the same as being a “bad girl”.

  • LoveDaRocker

She has been very nice. The summer tour is very grueling and it has to be difficult being always in your best behavior. Plus, many times fans are not that nice to begin with.
I rememeber a scary post from a lady who tricked (or tried to, can’t remember) Allison Iraheta’s mom, telling her that Allison was her favorite, just to get into a meet and greet to see Adam. Plus, don’t forget the “give this to Adam; where is Adam? ahhhhh, there is Adam” crowd at the barricades.
I am surprised that all of them were so nice, actually.

ETA: the post from that lady was scary because during her “quest” to see Adam, she had been escorted out of different concert venues more than once, and the staff already knew her.

  • PRMari

Oh, I remember that. That was really creepy. She also talked about some fans grabbing her from behind or by her hair and scaring the crap out of her. That stuff has got to be very strange to a 17 year old girl not used to it. I can understand her not always being in the best mood to deal with certain fans.

She just gets more and more at ease with her audience. It’s just a shame that NOE cuts off early.

  • PRMari

“Wait, I’m not done yet” she was cracking people up left and right. It’s so cool to see her coming in and out of “the zone” so easily.

  • jordison

Here is another DWTP from Grand Rapids, recorded at an angle from Dave’s side, so you get lots of the guitar sound. Excellent sound overall. Seems like each new DWTP performance is her best one.

Allison really is funny. And she sings well too. :)

What a lame excuse! You couldn’t go to a library? A cyber cafe? Walk into a hotel, pretend to have a room there, and camp out on their public computer?

    Ah, payback is sweet. :) :) :)

Seriously, we were wondering what happened to you, as usually you never miss an Allison thread. Welcome back.

  • jordison

Now that alli lurker is back, have we lost everyone else? Is everyone resting their fingers for this evening?

Re: this thread – Allison says Holiday is her favorite song to perform. Any predictions on which songs she and the band will do tonight? Predictions on how many songs in her set? Do you think there will be any crossover numbers – covers, or duets/three-ets (is there a word for this?)?

Any comments on the DWTP from Grand Rapids – the one where the guitar comes out real well?

Shall we start a pool on when she gets her drivers license? What will be her score on the written exam? Should there be a group of fans at the DMV when she takes her road test?

Come on Alliologists, Alliholics, Alliwhatevers – where are you?

  • LoveDaRocker

    ALR: welcome back.
Interview: nobody has commented on the following statement: “for the next album, if there is, hopefully …” Don’t even think about it! You will record a second album, even if I have to withdraw from my 401k to finance it :-) .
Concert: at some point she said that there will be some surprises. I don’t’ think singing stuff from the album would be a surprise. I mean, it’s her album. A surprise would be to either sing some awesome cover, or a duet with one of the guys (DWTP with Kris, please; no need to do Slow Ride for the 100th time).
Drivers license: it will be great to see the ordeal documented.

    My proposed set for tonight:

    Holiday
    Don’t Waste the pretty
    Trouble is or Scars
    No one else
    Cry baby
    Friday I’ll be Over U

I like this. I have always thought that Holiday should be the opening number. I believe in a rock-em-sock-em number to start out – get the audience’s attention. Tone it down a little bit with DWTP, and the third number should be a ballad. Then – bam – rev it up again with NOE. I guess there would be the obligatory Cry Baby, but I hope there is a little bit stronger accompaniment than what Allison previously got from the band. Since FIBOU is the single, it seems appropriate to close with it.

I would love to hear Pieces, Still Breathing, BMU, or YDKM, but to my knowledge the band has never done these with Allison.

So, I agree with your list.

  • PRMari

But they had been rehearsing, I’m hoping for one of those added to the set and I think the ones that would most likely make it in are You don’t know me and D is for dangerous.

  • LoveDaRocker

    PRM’s set: love it.
D: I think the beat of D would make for a great concert opener.
NOE: Last week I would have been against performing NOE. Not anymore.
Cry Baby: I would prefer something other than Cry Baby, but within that same classic Rock vein. I love it, but she did it on the show, and on tour. If wishing to cover something familiar to the Idol crowd, I would go for Alone. I am sure it holds a special place in the heart of her hardcore fans.

  • jordison

D: I think the beat of D would make for a great concert opener.

D works well too as an opener – another one with a dramatic opening.

I really would like YDKM to be in there somewhere, because I think Allison and the band could knock it out of the park.

  • alli lurker

I think Holiday is a given based on her current Baby Di hairdo. Interesting that that one isn’t scoring very high on the AOL poll. (BTW – I’m still reeling from what Rub said about the TI AOL Session. I can’t repeat it, but seriously, how could it be any better?)

Like jordison, I would like to hear Still Breathing, BMU, and You Don’t Know Me. Especially Still Breathing – I was repeating that one yesterday.

I think she’ll also do No One Else, since she just brought it out. I think it would make sense at the end of the set, but before the encore.

Like LDR, I would love a cover other than Cry Baby. Alone would be great, or some other awesome song. But please god, not a rap song. (Didn’t she say something about a rap song recently?)

Ooooh, D as an opener – I love it!!!

It would be awesome if she could skip FIBOU. Not likely, but awesome.

  • LoveDaRocker

ALR: It would be awesome if she could skip FIBOU. Not likely, but awesome.

She is in NYC. She could get away with Viernes …

Would it be too weird if she did a Viernes/FIBOU hybrid?

  • LoveDaRocker

No, actually. That would make lots of sense.

  • alli lurker

    That would be pretty cool.

I wish I were there!! Argh!!

Any comments on the Strictland interview? I think it was pretty darn good.

    Definitely worth a listen.

Also, does everyone know that MJ has started a thread for tonight’s concert? She may eventually break it into 3 threads if people can’t get along.

    Silly.

If Allison fans can get a word in that thread, it’d be a lot…it’s full of Lambert fans, for a change.

Well, I tried to make like the Dalai Lama and take the high road, saying something profound like – relax, enjoy the concert, live in the moment, etc.

However, after 5 minutes of reading those posts my blood pressure is rising. In order not to be a hypocrite, I think if I have any “snark” (and it should be easy to come by) I will keep it over here.

I listened! I like that guy – he likes all my favorites!! Allison came across as a sweetheart. I’m glad she’s been talking about You Don’t Know Me. I hope it becomes a single. (I’m starting a not-so-subliminal ad campaign.)

I’ve lived in that part of the country and I know that they are very much into classic rock – so its a great place for her to do a radio tour. That guy was really gushing over the album. Awesome!

    Is this for real?

Killing Me Softly? Really? I think its a joke.

  • alli lurker

It reminds me of that Hugh Grant movie – About a Boy – when the kid does that song at school. Pretty funny.

Maybe its code for something else? I think she’s messin’ with us.

  • alli lurker

Uh oh, I could be trouble if she’s really doing that song…. it’s just that its probably the last song I’d expect from her. Hmm…

  • alli lurker

I guess she did it, but the cellcast f’d up so I didn’t see it. Did anybody else see it?

Saw a lot of other stuff, though. Quality is crap as usual. Hope the videos are good.

  • jordison

It cut in and out. Cut out right before Killing Me Softly. Damn! Did anyone get it, or anything beyond it?

Trouble Is was awesome!!! So was Holiday!

Major flub with wrong key on Scars, but I love the way she handled it. It was really endearing.

Allison is really growing. Her rapport with the audience is just getting better all the time. She’ll get past the flubs with more practice. After all, this is the first time she ever had to do this many songs in a set.

Can hardly wait to see the whole performance with decent sound and video.

This is such a sleepy little thread.

No crotch grabbing, lipstick wearing controversies. Pigtails looked cute, right?

    Oh well.

Off to have dinner and watch the Winter Olympics (West Coast feed).

BTW – there’s a rumor of a possible group song at the end of Kris’ set. Wouldn’t that be Crazy?

    Will check back later.

  • jordison

    Pigtails looked cute

I think I meant pony tails. And, what was that long sleevy thing hanging from her arm?

Anyway, I think she looked great and sounded great.

If you want a heavy dose of Dave Immerman, check out MJ’s new thread of FIBOU, DWTP and Holiday. Much better picture, but lousy sound quality.

Just finished reading (scanning?) over 500 posts at the “other” thread, and think I have a stomach ache. Think I’ll go to bed now.
