Wicked!! Best quality so far! And Allison looks GORGEOUS!!

I love her at the very end. That chick kills me!!

There is no such thing as too much acoustic Allison performances! She always take our breath away in these.

  • Starr

Holy crap. Now THAT was a master vocal. That was just absolutely genius.

  • breakdown

What an awesome performance! Go Allison!

Allison sounds really lovely. I love her vocals on this song.

  • Rub

    Nice!
Hey JohnM, give ‘em the link for the other massive dwtp and jly acoustics.

  • csprof

I wonder if this song would appeal to teens because it sounds amazing to me. My 9-yr-old daughter finds Allison empowering. Go Allison!

  • PRMari

Fantastic! Allison needs to do an acoustic album or at least an entire unplugged show. She’s so passionate, she was definitely born to sing.

  • mitchellvii

Adam needs to do an acoustic performance.

Allison sounds awesome. VERY radio friendly sound.

  • auntieaimee

Wonderful, amazing. Allison continues to impress. Nice job!

  • Nina1

I watched Allison on CBS yesterday and loved the interview, if not the song. Like her accoustic much better, don’t see her as suited to pop. Her voice is too powerful and too good for that niche.

  • chessguy99

That was truly awesome. I agree with Nina1, Allison is wasted in pop. I thought that DWTP was the best produced track on the album, but this is even beyond the magic Howard Benson worked. I hope they did a couple other songs. I’m really wanting to hear that Chris Daughtry track acoustic.

  • JohnM

And did you guys hear her on the Elvis Duran show this morning? They played FIBOU, then interviewed her, and then she did DWTP again, and slayed it! If there was ever a radio performance to hit a home run on, this was it, and she did. Whole lotta ears just got turned on.

I was kind of taken by surprise and didn’t get my recorder going quickly enough, but I’m sure other people got it and will put it up.

  • gulfluv

Wow! This girl is AWESOME! I don’t know what else to say, Allison is incredible. If anyone gets a link for the Elvis Duran show, please share, I would love to hear that.

  • LoveDaRocker

Amazing! The best acoustic yet, and that’s saying a lot.

  • alli lurker

DAMN girl, why you gotta be so good? Its not fair to everybody else…

  • tinawina

    Whoa. Thumbs up!

  • JohnM

Ask and ye shall receive. These are from WPST in Princeton NJ, November 19 if I remember correctly.

    Don’t Waste The Pretty

Hey alli lurker, I take back what I said last night about being more subdued. At that point, I had only heard this through my wife’s laptop speakers from several feet away. Having heard it properly through headphones, never mind!

As I said in the other thread, I think her voice sounds a lot better here than it did on the radio tour. And there was one section (I forget exactly where now) where she really backed off and gave a very delicate delivery for a line or two. Just keeps gettin’ better.

Weird how Dave hit a minor chord instead of the proper major chord just before going into the bridge. I wish he hadn’t made that mistake, since this is such an excellent performance otherwise, but other than being kind of jarring because it’s unexpected, it still kinda works.

  • alli lurker

Hey alli lurker, I take back what I said last night about being more subdued.

Got it. Yeah, its just about perfect.

  • auntieaimee

Yes. Her voice can be warm and gritty. Tough and tender. I love that.

  • LoveDaRocker

JohnM, since you are the resident music geek, what’s your take on Valerie? In the Friday-in-Spanish GMA performance posted yesterday you can really see her working the drums. I noticed a couple of timing issues, but other than that, she seemed great. Your take?

Noticed that. It really sticks out, particularly if you have heard the song many times.

  • jack5791

Her voice is just unbelievable. Rock it out Allison…

  • washyourhands

Huge Kris fan here, but coming to say that Alli kicked ass on this one.

  • JohnM

washyourhands, thanks for the love. I’m really impressed with both Kris’ and Allison’s albums, and I think it’s so cool that they’re going to be doing the New Year’s Eve show together.

Sheesh, now I’m the resident music geek? Oh, the pressure… Yeah, I noticed the timing issues too, but I love her. I especially like what she does at the end of the second verse — the spot where, in the recorded version, they put the crazy phasing effect or whatever it is on Allison’s voice.

When the band members’ identities came out (thanks, Stalker PRMari!), I checked out their Myspaces, and Valerie caught my ear more than the others (though, to be fair to Dave, I didn’t hear anything that gave him an opportunity to shine). Her Myspace includes a song called Somebody Else’s Dream, which is a TOTAL Paramore clone, and Valerie does her part by doing an excellent job of playing in Zac Farro’s style. Doesn’t display the same level of creativity that Zac does (I really admire him), but does really well. She’s the one I’ve been most anxious to hear in the band — I could tell she was going to bring a lotta rock to it.

  • LoveDaRocker

Sheesh, now I’m the resident music geek? Oh, the pressure

Didn’t mean it in a disrespectfully way, of course. One of my biggest regrets is not having learned/played music as a kid. So, I admire those who have.

  • JohnM

Oh no, I didn’t take it that way — took it as a compliment. I was totally joking around. Just don’t want to come off like a bigshot or something…

One of my biggest regrets is not having learned/played music as a kid.

Time to get started now, then! :-)

  • fusion8

that was gorgeous. her album ROCKS! best of the 3.

  • luvUadam

WOW. Allison nailed this, AMAZING vocals! Beautifully perfect…brought tears to my eyes. Way to GO Alli!

  • luvUadam

    I’m getting her CD!!!!! N O W !!!!!!

  • yinyang

I couldn’t get the video to load, much to my dismay. I’m enjoying Allison’s album. So far, my favorite is Scars, but there are some other strong contenders! I think I heard an acoustic “Don’t Waste the Pretty” from a previous Allison promo event, and loved it, so I sure was hoping to hear this one…. Guess I’ll just need to try again later. I hope that she sells well.

  • luvUadam

yinyang , This is what you heard, Allison’s acoustic ‘Don’t Waste the Pretty’ . And I really LOVED it too!

    lurker -

Thanks so much for posting the Duran clips. What a great interview. Too bad Alli doesn’t have a personality, huh?

Seriously, she can really hold her own in these interviews now. What growth!

BTW, did she really say “if it’s brown, flush it down”? What a gas! (no pun intended)

  • http://www.GuanacosOnline.org/roquesite roquemocan

In the Duran clips, I liked the caller, a university student I think, that on the way home bought Allies album for his little sister, and she was crying of joy for receiving such a gift, and that his little sister looked up to her. There Ally, You’ve got the pre-teen market – maybe they nag their parents into buying the album…, oh, and also Allie dedicated “Don’t waste the Pretty” to the woman caller who dumped her loser boyfriend…

  • JohnM

    jordison: What a gas!

Ha! You’re killin’ me here! :-D

Yeah, this was really good — and to have it on a big syndicated show like that is fantastic — and to have them both play the single and air a live performance is — well, you get the idea.

Very cool that Elvis was talking about the buzz surrounding her album. That’s got to help in terms of opening doors in the industry.

The bathroom thing was hilarious. And I found it strangely comforting to hear her warming up exactly the same way that mere mortal singers do.

It might be just a one-time thing (let’s hope not), but it’ll be interesting to see what kind of spike this puts into her audience impression numbers — going from mostly middle-of-the-night spins on smaller stations to AM drivetime in various very big markets. Should see those numbers tomorrow. But I’m already seeing that Z100 has played FIBOU not once but twice this week, both during the AM drive — that’s a good thing.

  • Sunshinegirl

That girl is mad, crazy talented! Wow! That was stunning!
