Yeah, there is no doubt the Alicia Keys is singing live here as she accompanies herself on piano while she sings The National Anthem before the Superbowl 2013 face off between the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens.

It’s not a perfect vocal, but I appreciate her willingness to go out an that field and put it all out on the line. She certainly made the anthem her own.

    Aware of all that, but, as stated, simply prefer a different style.

    I’d say “should” implies “obligation of the artist” rather than “preference of the listener.” That the latter might have very specific conditions is natural. That the former might is less so.

    While it was pretty and I love Alicia Keys, it was so plodding that I found it annoying.
