Alexis Grace Post Boot Interviews

UPDATE: More from today’s press conference: MTV, LAT, USA, and Zap2it.

I got a few post-boot Alexis Grace interviews for ya:

Interview with Ryan Seacrest this morning. Alexis teared up during a heartfelt talk with Michael Sarver during the break. Ryan replayed Simon telling Alexis that she wasn’t “good enough.” (bet she loved hearing that again) She said she thinks Simon was just being, “really honest.” While she managed to keep her composure during the broadcast, she said she was “bawling” later. She’s glad that the judges brought out her “dirty” side.

Also, Megan Joy was quarantined while she had the flu. She had a room next to the kitchen.

Quotes from this afternoon’s press conference:

  • Would the judges have saved her if sheà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d been allowed to sing a song other than Jolene, “Probably (LAUGHS) I’m gonna be honest, I think it could have, I think if I sang the first song that I sant, ‘Never Loved a Man’ that maybe I would still be there. I dunno. I think that ‘Jolene’ is a beautiful song and I love to sing it; I don’t think it was their favorite performance. So I didn’t really get to show them and remind them again why they picked me.”
  • She knew she was in the bottom 3, “Knew it before we even got there, I knew the night of the show that I would be in the bottom 3. I just knew it. I had a feeling from what the judges said, and y’know just the way the night went. I had a feeling.”
  • She didn’t get a farewell dinner, “Y’know, they were really busy last night. There was a lot going on, and there wasn’t one.”
  • About letting her state down by botching country music, “I feel kinda like I let my state down, y’know? I’m from the south and we’re supposed to country well and I think I do sing country pretty good, so it was a disappointment, y’know, I kinda let ‘em down a little bit, but I can redeem myself.”
  • Was she disconcerted/upset when Randy forgot her name?, “Yeah, a little bit, but I think maybe that’s just his personality maybe? Maybe not because I’m forgettable. Hopefully not, but yeah, I did make a face when he said ‘Allison’. I was like ‘Hmmm.’ It’s Alexis.”
  • She’s closest to Matt Giraud and Megan Joy. Why Megan? “We’re pretty much like the same. We both have like kids the same age, she has a boy, I have a girl and we always joked about how, on tour, our song and daughter would be boyfriend and girlfriend.”

After the jump, an interview with Fox Boston. Carrie Underwood’s “Last Name” was on Alexis’s short list of songs to sing this week. Alexis is a little bummed about missing the tour.

She had a look on her face the entire time, like she knew she was going home.

  • CRB

Her positioning on the sofas was such that it was either her or Adam so you didn’t need to be a Rhodes Scholar to deduce that.

  • Trina

My God this poor girl. After what they put her through last night with ‘save’ crap she even got jipped out of the farewell dinner? Wow.

  • flicker

Why couldn’t we have gotten to know this sweet girl, instead of watching her try to fit into the dirty box? She probably would have done worlds better if they’d just let her be her All-American self.

  • Dr. Tracey

Geeze she got robbed of the dinner too?
She really lives up to her name, what a sweetheart.

  • primeminister

    Carrie Underwoodà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Last Nameà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ was on Alexisà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s short list of songs to sing this week.

Wait, so if “Last Name” was one of Alexis’ choices, the producers were the ones who made the decision for her to sing “Jolene” over “Last Name” right? Figures that Kara would give her crap about song choice. UGH.

  • yeahyeahsure

I’m not a fan of her at all but that interview warmed my cold, black heart. :wub_tb:

  • Michelle

    -bottom 3
    -randy forgets her name
-save dangled in front of her
-judges practice “let’s pretend we are actually judging” bit during singout
    -save not given
    -no summer tour
-NO FAREWELL DINNER (especially galling considering the clip they played that very night)

  • Victoria

Poor girl didn’t get a farewell dinner? That’s terrible. I’m not a fan, but feel bad for her.

  • t2

Heh — it seems that Alexis was the ONLY one not allowed to sing Carrie last night. Personally, I thought she did well (and much better than the other two in the “bottom three) with Jolene — but Last Name would have kicked all of them to curb.

  • sma11ie

I really like her. Bummed. I didn’t listen to her interview, so I don’t know the wording, but even if she said Last Name was on her short list, it doesn’t mean producers pushed her towards Jolene. Maybe Jolene was her first choice, and she had Last Name as a back up in case she couldn’t get Jolene/lost a hat pick or something…?

  • http://www.myspace.com/gwendolyndiane GwendolynD

Although I know of the producers actually choosing songs for contestants, that doesn’t mean it happens all the time. “Last Name” could have very well been a backup song.

  • flicker

Here’s what Alexis said in her interview about her song choice:

A: I did consider doing a Carrie Underwood song, but I thought it would be too much Carrie Underwood in one night. So I went with Jolene because of its beautiful lyrics, and I love the singer (Dolly Parton).

Im surprised she said she was closest to Matt and Meghan. I thought for sure she would say Anoop. He was crying over her departure last night :(

  • primeminister

Thanks for clearing that up, flicker.

ITA. When I heard that, I didn’t automatically assume the producers took it away from her. The contestants often consider several songs before they settle on one.

I think her reasoning that three Underwood songs would have been Carrie overload is pretty sound.

  • CFIdolsfan

I posted in the other link, but I want to say again that I am upset with the way she was treated. I hope it all gets made up to her.

  • schmed

I wonder if TPTB have any sense of the need for damage control here? You’d think they’d let her go on the tour for aesthetic, as well as political reasons. (Not to mention the photo ops involving the two little kids!)

  • TwigLA

She did a really nice live interview on Good Day LA (Fox Los Angeles) this morning. They can be rather snarky, but they were very kind to her.

She said she only had 2 hours sleep. They asked her about partying and interviews. She said no, she was packing. She had a huge suitcase full of shoes to pack.

She was disappointed about Motown Week. When asked what song she had picked, she said she wasn’t allowed to say, but she really liked it and it would have been different.

She plans to be in the audience as much as possible to cheer everyone on. She won’t be there for next weeks show though.

I’d really love if they took the top 13 on tour this year. OK, really the top 11 :)

  • miknge

Poor Alexis with all these treatments. I kinda liked her. I was a fan when I first saw her audition because of her sweet demeanor. Then she dirtied it all up. Why does she have to change herself just to please the judges is beyond me. Oh well.. good luck to her in whatever she does.

  • bean99

I was talking about the show with several other women tonight and though we all had different favorites we all agreed that Alexis shouldn’t have gone home. I’m still a bit bummed about it. :down_tb:

What? And cut into their tens of millions in tour profits by shelling out another 6-figure salary? Idol is not known for such acts of generosity.

  • SallyS

she must have pissed off the producers lol

  • chicksineggz

This is just another reason why I hate Kara. She’s the reason Alexis was all “dirty” during the competition. =P

  • shy215

those bastards they made her into something she wasn’t and they kicked her off cuz she pissed them off i will stop watching this rigged crap we all know whose it gonna be n da finals adam and lil or adam and mehgan joy they did the same thing to constantine he got da boot and they made him pick dat crappy song and he left with his head held high and so did alexis hey maybe she’ll do broadway?

  • Michelle

That’s a little odd. I remember last year the booted contestants being able to tell what they were planning to sing.

Why does she have to change herself just to please the judges is beyond me.

They can’t help it, especially when they’re given specific instructions to change. So, Jorge goes and gets lessons to get rid of his accent (which I liked). Alexis goes and dirties herself up (when she was so cute as herself during the auditions – why didn’t she break out her guitar?).

    It doesn’t work of course.

Last season, Carly spent all her energy trying to second guess what would please Simon and forgot about the audience.

  • idealistic03

i am really shock to see her go…she’s my back up contestant in case megan didn’t make it..well i never really thought that she will leave idol earlier than megan to think that lots of people seems to hate corkrey…and speaking of my fave megan again i was shock that alexis is close to megan and matt..i actually thought that she doesn’t like megan bcoz she never seems to talk or smile to her on tv..well yeah i only see the on cam maybe they are really in good relationship off cam since their both young hot mamas…i agree that last night is the coldest elimination idol ever had..i can see her really begging while singing d lines “i’m begging you please..lalalala”..c’mon idol that’s so evil thinking that she’s so little and how the hell can she sing while judges are trying to make a decision(hope it’s true) in front of you?, now i actualy starting to be convinced that “save” is actually being saved for danny dopey and adam..and now i really don’t know if i’m going to like kara…speaking of kara who’s the nxt victim for this dirty thing?why not try that to scott and advice him to dop that ala egyptian strange dance of adam?LOL..that would be funny…

  • bean99

Thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a little odd. I remember last year the booted contestants being able to tell what they were planning to sing.

Maybe someone else is doing her song.

  • Tess

And as hard-hearted as the producers are the viewing public made the initial decision to send Alexis home. And what if they had thrown her that lifeline, who would have suffered for that more than the contestant who might have lost their chance at the Top 10 and the tour because Alexis got saved. Wouldnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t that be even more cruel, and undeserved.

Everyone knew, including Alexis, that being saved during top 13 or top 11 was a pretty dicey proposition considering the tour historically takes only 10 Idols. If someone is saved, from top 10 to top 6, it would be “bad” but it wouldn’t affect the other contestants from earning their 100 grand for the idol tour gig.

Hopefully people will realize that if they have a “favorite” contestant they need to figure out a way to get votes for that person. Many in the top 10 have already garnered a HUGE fanbase (Danny, Lil, Anoop) and it will be extremely difficult to get them voted off. So vote wisely and often and don’t split your votes unless you want your fav to get the boot!!

  • Tatiana

It’s pretty ridiculous to think Ramiele made the tour last year but Alexis won’t this year!

I don’t think the tour will be anywhere near as popular this summer…I can’t see paying $100 just for a few songs from Adam!!

  • Grammie Kari

I thought Ramiele was a sweet girl, but Alexis outsings her by a mile.

AI knows the fury the Alexis elimination caused. Hopefully, they can make it up to her in the near future. I still feel sad for her.

  • tanigue

Lol at the Ramiele comparisons. I honestly think that Ramiele is vocally superior that Alexis. Ramiele has far more lovely studio voice and has greater range. But Ramiele just seems out of her depth after her You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me performance, she’s not coming out of her shell and she keeps choosing ridiculous songs. The big difference between the two is that Alexis has the determination that Ramiele hadn’t which is an enough factor to get a spot on the tour. Poor alexis.
