Alex Lambert is NOT HOMELESS Says Rep

Last night Season 9 contestant, Alex Lambert tweeted a series of messages claiming he was homeless. This afternoon Alex tweeted more, assuring fans that there are places he could crash, but he doesn’t want to be a burden on his friends.

Now, Alex’s rep tells Entertainment Weekly that Alex is not homeless. “I don’t know where that came from, ” says the rep.

A spokesperson for XIX Entertainment, an Idol production company that manages many of the show’s contestants, confirmed to EW that Lambert did tweet those messages. But the rep also was also emphatic: “He’s not homeless. I don’t know where that came from.”

The spokesperson added some evidence that Lambert, who’s on a development deal with XIX, should have the means to pay for housing: “He’s on a retainer, and he’s getting money every month. He’s working on demos. He’s with writers, he’s working on music.” Then the rep added: “He’s not homeless. How could he be texting? How could he be going into recording studio and sleeping on the streets? There’s no record deal yet, but hopefully these demos something could come from that.”

Think this afternoon’s tweets were the result of a discussion with his rep?  Good luck to Alex. Hope he sorts out whatever he’s going through right now.

UPDATE:  XIX rep tells Shirley Halperin at The Hollywood Reporter that Alex has been  “crashing on friends’ couches while looking for an apartment, but he’s getting a retainer and working on [new music] demos” and attributes last night’s rant to the Season 9 Idol having a “bad day.”

2nd Update:  More tweets from Alex:

I’m real! And I don’t lie! and I would never lie to yall!(yall being my supporters who got my back through thick and thin) Fuck yeah I was sleepin outside! That shit sucks too! I’m goin back home to get my shit together! But I will be back! And I’m comin strong! LETS DO THIS!”

Alex going back to Texas to get his “shit together” is a good idea.

I think Alex wanted a bit of publicity, and guess what? He got it.

    yeah… ok… o.O

  • tls62

    Stupid ass move.

  • songsungblue

Yeah. What tls62 said. That kid is such a ticking time bomb. Tooltastic! And I’ve been 20 years old. I didn’t act that way. Crystal is apparently from a dysfunctional home. SHE doesn’t act this way.

Alex needs to wake the hell up and get a grip. The world doesn’t owe him a career.

  • BootStar

If there’s a photo attached to the entry for “asshat” in the Urban Dictionary, it’s of Alex!

  • Landmd

Looking like Alex is doing some self promo lol!! Crystal may not tweet it but she sure does say it as much as she can in every interview!!

Looking like Alex is doing some self promo

It looks like it may work. Someone from EW wants to interview him.

@TrueAlexLambert Hey Alex, Tanner from Entertainment Weekly here. Would love to interview you, if you’re up for it. Direct Message me, if so

    This guy remains a pinhead…

  • steph6449

    Strange :?

  • Daytripper73

Ha. I get the feeling the people who are working with him and paying him are NOT happy with his little “I’m homeless” stunt. All this does is make him look like a liar and a whiner. It’s one thing to be a head case after you’ve become a star, but acting like one before you even have a record deal is pretty dumb.

  • bjames

Man, I loved this kid on Idol. I was livid when he got voted off. And now I just want him to go back to Texas and shut up.

  • tripp_ncwy

I have a feeling 19 is on full damage control right now. Alex has single handidly flipped AI10’s big coming out party on its head.

  • Trina

ROTFL the latest where his rep attributes his tweets to him having a bad day is the funniest thing ever. I’m amazed at his fans on Twitter spinning his bullshit by pointing out that he said he was “kinda” homeless. Uh no. Saying he’s sleeping on the streets and behind buildings sure sounds homeless to me. He also flatout lied when he said last night he was poor.

  • smeggingnuts

According to his rep, Lambert’s rant can be attributed to a “bad day.” Indeed, on Tuesday, Lambert tweeted, “I regret postin all that! Everything’ll be fine!”

Bad day or looking for attention. And you regret posting it because you were caught in a lie and your management is super pissed at you.

His uber-fans have been attacking me on twitter in a most amusing way. lol.

But this always happens to me when an Idol mis-steps. I’ve seen worse. Heh.

  • toonces1966

What a dirty little liar. I was actually concerned. Now I just think the kid needs a spanking.

  • Indigobunting

Yeah, I rolled my eyes at the #signalexlambert tweets today. I think AINow even sent one out :(

ETA: Toonces- your post sounds kinda dirty

  • cruzceleste

    Bah… what an idiot…

19 could decide not to sing him because of this… is like I would said something bad about my work…

  • toonces1966

Heh, not that kind of spanking! How’s he going to get out of this one? He just makes himself look like an idiot.

  • sr4mjc

I have no use for this idiot. He’s not that talented and has shown his immaturity time and time again. He can’t be very bright.

  • jammasta

  • Silent Screams

He is a disgrace to the Lone Star State.

  • bmms

I knew it! A boldface lie. There really was no need for him to twitter nonsense.

  • sue

Attention whore alert! So this is the kind of publicity he wants? He sure fooled us for a second. Is he trying to get free money from his fans or just media attention? There are REAL homeless people out there Alex. If you are getting money every month then get a f-ing apartment or stay at a cheap motel or something. For f-ing sakes stop being a cry baby and face reality. You are NOT that special!

  • Chicagolaw

    Really not surprised.

I saw your tweet and had to come look! I really don’t know what to say about this kid. I was offended by comments he made about talented, fellow contestants in interviews, and initially thought the first round of tweets sounded strange, but this latest twist is downright outrageous!

  • Kitwana

The thing is, those tweets probably got Alex Lambert more attention than he got from being in that house and from premiering his new video on I Heart Radio. He got mentioned on Perez freaking Hilton. So, as much as I am offended by the tweets, they pulled him out of obscurity and got him some mainstream attention. Maybe some producer will be curious and listen to one of his songs and decide to sign him. Maybe a tv producer will give him a reality show. Maybe a publisher will give him a book deal. None of this was going to happen without attention. The tweets got him the attention. Other fading Idols should consider tweeting similar sob stories, i.e. “I’m getting close to having to consider whether to apply for a job at McDonalds”. Think of the headlines.

  • too-cool-for-school

If by “get my shit together”, you mean, “shut the hell up and stop lying to people in a desperate bid for the final amount of attention I may ever receive”, good idea, Alex. Please do that.

  • Dlynne

I have supported this kid from the beginning because I think he has an incredible voice.

But right now I’m wondering if he is an idiot or a genius.

  • Niall

His fans are an amusing little cult, aren’t they? He says he’s flat broke and homeless and then backpeddles but it’s everybody else’s fault for reporting or opining? Talk about clinging to even the whiff of fame in order to feel connected or important.

Twerp is a drama queen. And he may have finally burned his bridge with Simon Fuller. No way is his employer happy with the dumb little loose cannon. He’s going home to Texas? Sounds more like Fuller told him to go take a time out for his ungrateful, crappy attitude.

  • lili_anne7

WTF, is this kid for real ? His latest tweets just made me LOL . Who flat out LIES about being homeless and sleeping on the streets? Then he makes up excuses about having no money because he gives it all to his brothers that are also ” sleeping on the ground”. This guy is just an attention seeker, and I guessed he got what he wanted.

  • dhunken

    NO words-I’m out

  • toonces1966

Alex is either a blithering idiot or an evil genius. What a way to steal attention away from the start of the new season.

  • larc

Sounds like a few sessions with a good psychiatrist wouldn’t hurt Alex any.

  • oza902

This guy is well on his way to a Rehab show. He’s either drunk and tweeting or he’s mentally unstable. I believe him when he said he slept on the streets, but I think it was a result from boozing.. and not being homeless.

    Wow.. just wow.

  • undercooked

I don’t think Alex is a bad guy, just not equipped to deal with the pressure. I can see him sending money home to help his mom and perhaps not managing the money he does have left to the point where he can’t afford his own place.

Perhaps some of the friends he has been crashing with needed some privacy and he had nowhere to go last night.

To me, it seems like he was looking for some moral support and tweeted his tale of whoa to his fans. Someone more mature could handle the situation and have a better perspective on reality.

Didn’t he and his brothers live in a one bedroom apartment with their mom in Texas? I could be wrong about, but I seem to recall that he had it a bit rough. I just get the impression that he really is a deer in the headlights in Los Angeles.

He’s very talented, I hope he gets himself emotionally stabilized.

  • wonderings

It’s been interesting to follow this rather blown up story. It’s gotten more comments and ink than most. I always wonder why that is.

I don’t think this was a purposeful publicity stunt. Alex is quite well known for running his mouth and speaking before he thinks. You’ve got a kid who went from never-being-on-his-own to American Idol to luxury mansion to finally on his own and combine that with late-night, self-pitying “suffering for my art” + social media – et voila!

Step one in the 19’s “development deal” should have been media training. Hello 19?

I really like Alex’s voice and would love to hear what he can do if not shooting himself in the “kinda homeless” foot.

  • Trina

God he sounds like such an obnoxious little wise ass in his latest tweets. Let me get this straight. now his brothers and mother are sleeping on the ground and they need the financial help, but now he is going back home to get his shit together? He DID sleep on grounds? Didnt he just say yesterday he IS like in present tense? Maybe he should STFU before he digs himself in deeper.

  • Montavilla

Step one in the 19’s “development deal” should have been media training. Hello 19?

I remember seeing in some Motown documentary that their development of artists included a stint at Charm school. Barry Gordy was taking kids right off the street and making them into stars. He wanted to make sure they conducted themselves well in public.

I sometimes think of Idol/19 as a modern Motown (without the stable of great writers/producers). They actively look for new, undiscovered talent. Most of the time, that’s going to someone who isn’t media savvy. However, AI itself is a media training boot camp.

Trouble is, Alex never finished the course. He was eliminated pretty early.

  • jaybee

the rest non-idol talent over to XIX…I’M SO BAFFLED BY ALL THIS…

  • toonces1966

Maybe Alex’s next reality gig should be Tool Academy or Charm School.

  • tripp_ncwy

I wonder if 19 is fed up and sending him home? He has gone on and outed mom, and his brothers then again a back tracked when they probably took offense. He continues to run his mouth and digging himself a bigger hole. Does he not realize as quick as he got the opportunities he has been give, they can be taken away.

  • tripp_ncwy

You want to be a career in music but you don’t care about fame or money. I am still trying to process that one.

  • Nina1

Maybe Alex did not lie; maybe his rep did to avoid a hassle with 19, knowing this would not be good for him. The word homeless covers a lot of territory and if Alex does not have a regular place to live, he is, in effect, homeless. Alex tweets before he thinks through the consequences, like an awful lot of people. For most of us, this is not a big deal; in his position it is, though he may not have realized it.

ETA: Idol needs to work with these kids on being a sudden celebrities, and possibly Sony should have helped him find housing before they cut him loose.

  • Tess

Idol needs to work with these kids on being a sudden celebrities, and possibly Sony should have helped him find housing before they cut him loose.

Why do “these kids” need babysitters and someone to handle life for them. Kids of Alex’s age are fighting and dying for our country, other kids are taking on the burden of being college educated while holding down a full time job. Many others at Alex’s age are already starting a family.

If someone is so immature that they can’t figure out how to spend their money wisely…can’t team up with other peeps and get a place to call home, can’t figure out how to get through a day without someone else guiding them every step of the way…they have no business being out in the real world.

Sure its tough when things aren’t going along smoothly and life hands you a bunch of lemons. But millions of people face this every day and continue to survive and make a life for themselves. I just don’t have patience with peeps who can’t cope and have to bathe themselves in delusions. What a cop-out.

  • MaryS-NJ

Sign this boy up for Surreal Life – stat! I guess I should’ve known this was a load of B.S. The story stank of self-pity and attention-gluttony.

As callous as I imagine this business to be, Simon Fuller doesn’t strike me as the kind of guy who would abandon someone he was cultivating with such fervor.

Fool me once, shame on you Alex. This will be the last time I give any attention to you, you lyin’ little pissant.

I suspect Alex is burning bridges and will soon get a one-way ticket back to Texas where maybe he can reacquaint himself with humility, or maybe get some professional help for his narcissism.

  • eilonwy

You want to be a career in music but you don’t care about fame or money. I am still trying to process that one.

As a general principle, that one doesn’t give me any trouble. I’d love a career in writing fiction, but one can’t do it full-time unless it pays the bills, which ordinarily requires a certain level of fame. So while I have no burning desire for fame and see a lot of downsides to it, if I ever choose to pursue writing as more than a hobby, I pretty much have to go after fame, too.

In its specific application to young Mr. Lambert… I’m tempted to send him a nice brochure for media training, but he’s not sounding like an easy client to work with.

  • Milly21

i used to like him, and was rooting for him on the show
but hes just become extremely irritating.
    he needs to go away

  • luvadamlambert

  • girlygirl

So basically he tried to manipulate people’s feelings and/or get publicity by lying. Either he needs real help or he’s a douche. At this point, I’m leaning towards the latter. And he’s not doing himself any favors with 19 or Simon Fuller — they could decide he’s not worth the trouble and take that development deal away from him.
