Alan Magnus, Father of Siobhan Magnus Has Died (VIDEOs)

Sad news.  Alan Magnus, father of American Idol Season 9 alum, Siobhan Magnus, has died.

You may remember that Siobhan surprised her dad with a buzzworthy performance of House of the Rising Sun during Top 8 Girls week.  “I grew up listening to him sing and play this song on the piano,” the singer explained to Ryan Seacrest before her performance, “It means a lot to me, because I relate it to him.  He was the first person to ever teach me anything about singing.

Siobhan tweeted the sad news this morning:

I’ll see you at the crossroads, Dad. Good Journey. Rest in Peace Alan Nicholas Magnus, 1961-2013. I only wish I could see the pahty the angels are having now that Alan has joined the band!!!

Thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to Siobhan and her family.

Here’s Siobhan dedicating “House of the Rising Sun” to her dad on American Idol before her performance. He’s sitting in the audience.

My sympathies to Siobhan and her family on their loss..

Cool that he got to see her sing “The House of the Rising Sun” on Idol, and she gave him credit and respect for the influences he brought to her musical history, especially because of that song.  I won’t forget when she took that opening on a cappella, and how amazing that sounded…it was a lovely tribute to him.IMO.

Very sorry to hear about Siobhan’s loss of her father.  I had the impression they were really close.  And he was fairly young.  Hope good memories will console Siobhan as she goes through the grieving process . . .

So, so sad to hear. Do we know if it was sudden or if he was suffering from health problems?

(And I know this is sort of off topic, but that video just reminded me how much I miss the old semi-final rounds!)

Really sad, especially with the good news Siobhan recently received!  Sending along my thoughts and prayers.

We’ve all been doing our homework and contacting players who might like the concept and are pleased to announce the new project for 2013: Doubtful Guest.
Doubtful Guest is a new band featuring former members of Godsmack, Everclear, Candlebox and Third Eye Blind fronted by American Idol rocker finalist, Siobhan Magnus.
