On the heels of winning America’s Got Talent, 12 year old Grace Vanderwaal was signed to AGT producer and judge, Simon Cowell’s Syco Music land and Sony Music’s Columbia Records. That’s besides the 1 million dollar prize for nabbing the AGT crown.
This week, Grace has been making the rounds of the talk shows. On Friday she dropped by the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and performed “Clay,” the original song that clinched her the title on the finale.
Earlier in the week, Grace performed her self-penned audition song “I Don’t Know My Name” on the Ellen DeGeneres Show
The young singer/songwriter won over AGT viewers with her original songs and winsome delivery. Comparisons to Taylor Swift abounded as she breezed past adult competitors like the NFL player-slash-magician Jon Dorenbos and mentalists, The Clairvoyants who came in third and second, respectively.
“It’s a lot to take in, but I’ve got to hand it to her,” Simon recently said to Billboard magazine about Grace. “She’s a very smart, calm, focused girl and I think she knows what she wants to achieve and what we always say to artists in this situation is it’s not a race.”
Grace is set to headline three dates inside the PH Showroom at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas Oct. 27 through Oct. 29 with fellow AGT acts The Clairvoyants and Tape Face.
Simon also promises more appearances in the future for the AGT acts.
“There is something. A much, much bigger announcement coming soon, which is separate from this,” he teased. “But that will be for, I’m guessing, 18 months time. But for the moment it is the short term residency for those three acts. That’s the only commitment so far.”
