Considering the fact that Adele, and her phenomenal album sales often dominate talk in the  numbers threads. Add to that the onslaught of reality show singers who LOVE TO COVER HER SONGS.  So much. TOO MUCH. And I think it’s highly appropriate to give the soulful singer a post of her own, announcing some good news.

Adele and boyfriend Simon Konecki  are expecting a child. She posted on her website today:

Im delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our first child together. I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we’re over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time. Yours always, Adele xx

According to the Huffington Post, The singer met Konecki, 36, last summer in the U.K. and have been dating ever since.

Will Adele’s next album resonate if she fills it with songs about all the happy stuff happening in her life right now, that includes Grammy wins and two best-selling albums? Hm.

In any case…congratulations girl! My life continue to bless you.

Mariah Carey hasn’t put out an album in a while, and people haven’t forgotten about her…I like to think her fans will stay her fans over the years..

Adele and Mariah are different.  Mariah has been around for like, 20 years.  Everybody knows her.  Adele has been around for a little bit, but she grabbed a whole bunch of news fans with “21″.  You know how people are fickle these days.

The horse before the carriage ~ or is it the carriage before the horse ~ anyway, like everyone else these days! Whatever happened to the proper order of events???

  • Tess

I think a lot of people aren’t holding themselves slaves to archaic traditions of the past and are doing things that seem right and reasonable for themselves.  By the way, the cart before the horse has been around for a very long time…it isn’t, by any means, a modern phenomenon.  And with the advent of easier forms of contraception adults who get pregnant out of wedlock aren’t exactly going with the roll of the dice.

I don’t think she’ll be asking you to babysit for her so no worries.

As for what this will do to her career, I get the impression that Adele isn’t too worried about it.  At the end of the day her music career and hit albums and grammy awards aren’t going to be what makes her the happiest.

    Congrats to Adele!

Congrats and good luck to soon to be new mama Adele… If she and her boyfriend are happy, the hell with everyone else.  I smell another smash album coming after the birth —> “Set Fire To The Nappies”! LOLOLOL… Before those ignorant of another use of the word nappies get their knickers in a twist, it’s British for diapers o/

There is an area that society can go to that is somewhere in between scarlet letters and not caring for morality at all.

Since when is having an out of wedlock child a happy occasion? sheesh. The kid is going to be without a daddy in a few years because his parents couldn’t commit or do things in the correct order.

    exactly.

Aw , Congrats to her and her BF!!!  , she pick a good live moment to start a family , she already has the professional success with her 19 and 21 albums, so i guess the next one will be 25? …. i mean people still buying her old productions so she gonna have the time to write and find the inspiration to do new music …i imagine new beautiful music. I wish her many blessings for her child and her relationship with the father of that baby. :)

“There is an area that society can go to that is somewhere in between scarlet letters and not caring for morality at all.  “

Not my point, julesb2183, but I can see the mention of the book didn’t convey that adequately.  The Scarlet Letter was written in 1850, and set in the 17th Century – 1642-1649.This ‘whatever happened to’ question in 2012 is disingenuous – there is nothing new about such a situation, or about segments of society passing judgment based on ‘their’ idea of “morality”.

IMO, the pearl clutching of the distant past had precious little to do with “morality” anyway – it started from Primogeniture and ended up at ‘what will people think?’ The way our society was/is structured, at least the economic motif often makes sense. But not in this instance.

    JMO. Of Course.

Baby before marriage – typical nowadays. No wonder single parenting is so common. So unfair to the kids.
