Adam Lambert’s Album ‘Trespassing’ Set to Be Released Spring 2012

Adam Lambert tweeted some big news today!

His next album will be called Trespassing and is set to be released Spring 2012.  There is a track on the album by the same name and it was written by Adam and Pharrell.

Adam, who has an Executive Producer credit on Trespassing, has been co-writing with a slew of collaborators, including Pharrell Williams, Claude Kelly, Greg Wells, Sam Sparro, Ali Tamposi and more. Famed producer and musician, Nile Rogers recently dropped by to lay down guitar tracks on a tune.

The new album compared to his 2009 debut will be “a little more personal, I’m doing a lot more of the writing myself, it’s a bit more contemporary sounding, I think, a bit more ‘now’. And I think it’ll hopefully get people to maybe try not judging a book by its cover.”

Adam teased that he’ll tweet news on the single tomorrow

    So, if first single is “Better Than I Know Myself” I guess that would be considered the mid-tempo?  If it’s the same Claude Kelly song that’s up on YT, then I’d have to say mid-tempo.  Of course, we don’t know the arrangement that will be on Adam’s version if it’s the same song, which I believe it very well could be.

    The lead single has to be radio friendly, that’s a fact, and this song is certainly that.

    The current arrangement for this song is not radio friendly.  It lacks a hook, it’s too low tempo and nothing happens with the instrumentation.

    I trust Adam and his folks to put out a single that will be radio friendly, and I will not go by some youtube demo to put the single down without hearing Adam’s version. So much to be happy about, no one is going bring  my mood down.

    The only thing I question is “if” the lead single is the Claude Kelly demo, why would they choose a song that Adam has no writing collab on?  I’m confused by that.

    Also, I do like the song, but if I listen to the Kelly demo too often, I’ll be tired of it by the time Adam drops his version.  I’m sure Adam’s rendition will be killer, but I just don’t get why not a song he wrote.  Just sayin’ …

    Thoughts, anyone?

    Adam is nothing if not a genius at reinterpretation.  His TOMT and IICHY on AI are testament to that.  If this is the single, you can be sure it will be very different from this.

    By now, maybe he does have songwriting credits on it.  If he changed it enough, his name may well be added to the list of writers.  Just a guess.

    If this is one of the 3 songs that DJ in London heard and loosely described (and he said the single choice had been narrowed down to those three), then it’s either going to be uptempo or mid-tempo.

    I think it makes a lot of sense for Adam to go with one of the big guns – Claude Kelly – for the first single.  Although the strategy didn’t work with FYE, it’s a better gamble than a song Adam wrote for the first single IMO

    No, which is why I used the words “the current arrangement”.  In my mind at least, those words implied that the arrangement would need to be changed in order for the song to be radio friendly.  I’ve said the same thing in all three threads on this board that I’ve replied in in regards to this songs.  My first post stated that I suspected that they would tinker with the arrangement.  In its current state it doesn’t fit Adam, doesn’t fit the pop format, and it is a little dated.

    I know marchle.. I have no idea what was Adam thinking. Taking Claude Kelly’s song that’s hookless and monotonouse melody for his overhype Adam#2… but I’m glad that you’re happy with it and can laugh about it. LOL 

    I think it is very radio friendly add to that Adam’s beautiful voice.. I just couldn’t wait to hear his take on the song #BETTERTHANIKNOWMYSELF

    That’s how most hashtag trends work. It wouldn’t have gotten high enough to be noticed by other people if fans hadn’t trended it there in the first place. Even trends people hate, they help trend b/c they use them to discuss how much they dislike them. Lol. Any attention is good attention.

    Love the Title.  It is a good one for Adam.  I hope the cd has some rock songs.

    Yay BTIKM! I loved the demo when fans first ninja’d it out when he tweeted lyrics! I mean, I had to use my imagination and think about Adam singing it, but the melody is beautiful, and I could completely relate to the lyrics. 

    I have to disagree that the song has no hook though, I deleted the demo youtube out of my bookmarks after a couple days because the song was stuck in my head and I didn’t want the memory to overshadow the real thing from Adam himself when it came out.

    I agree. I love the song and it does seem to have a good hook. I’m sure Adam is going to sing it great. But I do love the lyrics.  I can’t image it being sung faster, but I’m sure that he will surprise us. I didn’t think that Sleepwalker could be sung accoustic, but, wow, Adam did a great job on that song.. Slowing it down.. There was a link in the thread many pages ago – I think it was for a radio station in Germany.  Anyway, looking forward to how the song sounds..
