Hits Daily Double’s 1 day sales prediction has Carrie Underwood, Adele and Adam Lambert battling it out for the #1 spot on the Billboard 200:

While it’s still early in the week, a three-way battle is shaping up for #1 between Adele and Carrie Underwood, both of which will have substantial post-Mother’s Day drops, and Adam Lambert, who appears to be trending to the high end of expectations.

The former American Idol runner-up and 19/RCA recording artist’s sophomore album, Trespassing, looks set to debut with between 70-80k, which will at least put him in the running for a chart-topping bow.

Expect a sales prediction update from hits on Thursday afternoon.

UPDATE: Billboard cites industry sources who say Carrie Underwood’s current champ, Blown Away, or Adele’s 21  could both sell 65,000 to 75,000.

Fischerspooner is a CURRENT male artist, Ray Boltz and Tonex are producing Christian Artists (Boltz being a multiplatinum and award winning singer songwriter whose career suffered then rebounded when he came out.) The B52′s had their biggest hits after the death of one of their founders from AIDS and the other men affirmed their sexuality.

My point is the LGBT community has had many an opportunity to support gay artists in the past and chose or chose not to be so for whatever reasons. Adam may be the most openly gay artists on the scene at the moment but he isn’t the only one (perhaps the only one which you know about)

I applaud Adam for coming out at the start of his career. Even AfterElton credits him with being the first major label artist to do so. I think it is great that he is not ashamed or cautious about being who he is. But I do not think he would want the community or anyone else to purchase his music just because he is gay.
